"You still have inferior gear compared with those who have fully heated gear, so if you want to be as "good" as the latter you DO have to climb it."

-.- and by how much? 20 points of damage? 30 points of extra damage? So what? And so what if you can't beat the elites in LD, the fully heating of your gear is the least of your concerns, the UVs, what about the UVs? Get them!

@Mad-wolver

"You're basically saying no one says you have to finish the game, even though the creators made it near impossible for non-payers to do so."

Plz, tell me, HOW DO YOU FINISH A MMO? MMO HAS NO ENDING, SK doesn't end with you beating vana, it doesn't end when you reach 45K prestiege, it doesn't end when you collected all the weapons and heat them all up to level 10, there will always be new stuff to do in MMO, it is how it is for a reason, we will probably never open the core (the key is inside the lab BTW, go and look for it, the Spiral Order never considered using it to open the core)

Arguably, because Spiral Knights has a 'story mode' with its missions, you can complete the game.

...but as long as the 'core' is part of the goal, you'll be stuck finishing at an end of a story arc rather than the end of the game.

It's not easy or cheap to get UVs, and leveling gear DOES make a huge difference.

Feel free to add me in game if you want. I won't be playing until after my finals in june. So if you want we can grind fsc 24/7 for those frikin radiants =)

Edit: It's more fun if you play with equally or better players than yourself. The runs become faster and more exciting. Plus you can have a good laugh as well.

Oh come on. You can't be serious. Then honestly this ain't the game for you. But I promise to make the runs super fast =)

Edit: then please share how you expect to get decent gear?

Edit: sorry about the edits. I don't mind grinding because I have played and thoroughly enjoyed many RPG games where grinding was 'fun'damental in order to progress. So please don't take what I say offensive. I just enjoy it. Sorry if you hate me for it.

Easy, archknight.

Just make the radiants spawn in every T3 level again at very least... There was no absolute reason for it other than to satisfy the developers' greed, and getting a fully heated 5* set doesn't unlock anything other than more powerful stats, extra HP and CTR, all of which can be very important (therefore making the game more p2w, since it's so hard to do that by just playing and you can just buy your way out...)

I can be more tolerant to grinding on MMOs than most other games, but I certainly will not stand for this, specially when I know it way better, and so do you. Tell me, do you REALLY want to do endless runs on FSC just to get a glance at like what, 3 or 6 radiants, when you need like 500 of them at least? Or do you actually want to feel like you're making progress and find radiants on a random box that you happen to find when you're doing a random run on the clockworks?

EDIT: This isn't an RPG. It's a dungeon crawler action/adventure game. There's a difference. And frankly I don't find fun beating up the same enemies over and over until you level up enough to be able to progress. I had to be level 55 (in hard mode) in order to stand a chance against a secret boss on M&L Dream Team (which is an RPG too). I was at lvl 40 when I beaten the game, and even with the XP boosting gear and perks, it still took me several hours just to reach lvl 50. I just sorta gave up there because of how bored I was from stomping everything and how painstakingly long it was taking.
If you're okay with endless grinding then fine, have it your way. But you have to understand that a majority of players don't like that and prefer to actually be able to progress properly for their huge effort. And in the radiants case, it takes faaaar too long for that.

True. Can't argue with you there. But honestly we should have seen this coming. Supply depot selling 5 star stuff for less than unbind. I guess if I was desperate I would grind fsc and buy a 5 star weapon or armour that way. Personally as a gunner I only use Nova Driver, Blitzneedle, Polaris and Sentenza. I use full Chaos set and a swift strike shield. Trinkets I use one damage increase for guns and one asi increase trinket for guns. I get max CTR, max ASI and max DMG (I have med uvs on my guns).

I know I will want some stuff from the gunner update. I know it will require a lot of grinding if OOO don't sort out the radiant issue. But I know I have to deal with it if they don't. I just hope they don't nerf chaos set in the Gunner update.

This is all a load of random text. Sorry it's late and I need some sleep. I'll edit this comment when I wake, hopefully you get what I'm saying though.

Goodnight.

I love how you completely missed the whole point of my post to disprove something completely irrelevant to the topic. Ever heard the term "endgame players"? It's basically impossible to become an endgame player now due to this.

Why does people still play Diablo II?

And that Diablo III received a big ol 3.8 from metacritic? Cause the grind is SOOOOO BORING. Diablo II has a nice grinding that IS REWARDING. Did you remember SK used to drop items once in a while? well they took that out... and I'm not talking about darkfang shield, you could loot 4* and 5* items on Stratum 5-6...

The grind is boring as heck because the reward isn't worth even thinking about it... I mean... When you had 50 radiant per FSC nobody was whinning about it... And everybody was farming fsc or running arcade... It was almost perfect, maybe 20-30 per vana with 10-20 shinning and you would be golden (shinning in Stratum 4-5 and radiant in 6, that's a no braner).

But they took a chainsaw to do a heart transplant...

"Ever heard the term "endgame players"? It's basically impossible to become an endgame player now due to this."-Mad-wolver

... Impossible? May I correct your statement, no, it is possible to be in the 'endgame', you just have to, like arc said, accept it and push on. Play some elite shadow lairs with pros(not every day, just once in a few week), and maybe even take your shot at a big guild, who knows, they might just take you on a trip to UFSC, the radiant pay off is around 70~80 for 450 CE (that is a 4 men party) and a 12K Cr pay out guaranteed, heating your weapon shouldn't be a problem then.

And if you are still not happy with this, plz keep in mind that no one is going to heat a 5* gear to lvl 10 now days, not even the end game players, it is pointless and an unusual punishment, I have a tonnes of 5* gears getting piled up in my forge waiting to be heated, and I am sure that many other veterans will be in the same situation as I. You are certainly not the only one who is suffering, we all are suffering from the drought.

OOO, if you ever read this, CHANGE YOUR RADAINT PRICE ON KOZMA, NO ONE IS GOING TO PAY 700 CE FOR 50 RADIANTS. Sheesh...

The more I read what you and others are saying the more I start to lean towards your lot side. Don't get me wrong, when I was active I would maybe do around 4 fsc runs with my brother and guild, using all my mist and getting tabbed by a guildy who had an ele pass. I did that almost every day and never got bored once. I love grinding as I love the little crown meter slowly increasing =)

But this.....what you say is sounding like pure frustration to me. I have no intention of crafting any more 5 star gear (I have what I need) but the new gunner update.......

I can't see OOO changing this tbh. Unless they bring back mist or totally rethink of a way to make money without shafting the people who have stuck by them since day one. I also don't see how this will help the new comers....maybe OOO did go too far this time. Don't tell me to do SL. I won't pay for a key just to get radiants. Don't tell me to buy radiants off AH as I think the prices are ridiculous and don't tell me to do OCH. That place is so boring I cry that I wasted ce buying it. Even if it was only 1k.

My belief in OOO to deliver is still there. I strongly believe if they don't do something about this Radiant problem in the Gunner update, they will definitely do something about it in the Arcade Redux thing. The problem with OOO is, I don't think they fully think things through. They say something then go back on it (OCH was originally planned as purchasable via ce, recent gunner update release) They make unnecessary changes in game (zombie clutch leap of death, wolver auto follow attack).

They saw how easy it was to get radiants so they reduced the frequency of drops. Why couldn't they think about that before they released the forge update? Surely then people would complain early on that the drop rate was too low and they could have slightly increased it. People would have been happy. Honestly OOO you bring all this hate on yourself. I hope you get the gunner update right the first time. Please don't release it then start changing everything later on. Make the testing servers available for longer then and don't accept opinions like "Oh wow Awesome! This gun is amazing it goes pew pew pew!!!". Take on board all the criticism and negative feedback then spend another few months ironing out all those things.

When someone big/important leaves something he loves, he does it for 2 reasons.

1. His work is done, what he set out to do is almost complete and perfect. He accomplished his goal, he is satisfied.
2. He no longer believes his work is going in the right direction, he is powerless to do what he loves.

@Arc your last post was dead on.

We all believe in SK deeply. That's why we are angry to see SK in this shape. How would you feel if you saw your best buddy that was once in shape, going to the gym twice a week with a lovely woman sitting in his appartment eating mcdonalds each day that weight 300 lbs? Of course you would be angry at him and ask question on what went wrong... AND HELP HIM.

The only reason most vets are here is because we LOVE SK. WE ALL DO

Having strong opinions and being disapointed by SK lately. BUT WE WANT SK TO BECOME GOOD AGAIN, NOT TO DIE IN SADNESS. NICK MAY BE GONE, BUT THE COMMUNITY IS HERE. The key component for success is in front of you OOO. Talk to us, this game is our jewel. We want to make it as good and enjoyable as we CAN

Yes some criticism are harsh to deal with and some are opiniated and biais but you have to think, rethink and test a lot of your stuff. You have a preview server so you could use it for feedback on the guns. It's all for the better to test it first in a close environment THEN test it in the wild after lots of testing and retesting...

Edit: Pushing a Preview test means most people have to spend 10$ in the last month to get in... Think this through

Edit 2: Also SK could REALLY use some mods around here to calm down people and manage the Thread while you guys can do something else. A lot of game does that... IDK why someone waste their time on the forum when the community could answer it just by CM being in touch with Mods. That's damage controlling and managing a community, sadly...

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

arch, sigh. you should be more flexible about other people opinions.
I have already said what objective logic says about ideas, proofs and counter proofs. your argument about challenges is still flawed.
I have already said I don't understand your resignement with radiants saying that they are cutting off a large amount of people from heating their 5*s by setting the droprates so low and the price so high. I see that you see it as a way for them to make money. I said that it's blatantly idiotic to do that, and I explain why: because lowering the prices or making the drops higher would lead players to endgame, and the real expense starts there (SLs and accessories). they also get people to actually quit the game in the 5* in or right after the 5* HoH because something that had been natural to do, ie forging (cause the problem is not the forge but radiants), completely impossible. that means the average lifespawn of a knight is drastically cut off just before the knight reaches the climax of the game (the silent legion, the gauntlet, and KoA).
and your caps argument "THINGS ARE THE WAY THEY ARE BECAUSE OOO WANT IT LIKE THIS. WE CAN CRY ABOUT IT ALL WE WANT WE CANT CHANGE ANYTHING." is flawed too. LD, BN, AH, guild halls and pets are straight from the suggestion subforums. players can change the game. the last world is of OOO, yes, but it doesn't mean that we are just here to play the game. we are engaged by it and we give ideas to make it better. otherwise this forums wouldn't have a purpouse.

addition:
Thunder-The-Bright you are seriously annoying lol.
I don't think you are stupid or annoying. Goodnight mate.

as I say to some classmates, DECIDE MATE! YOU CAN'T SAY SOMETHING AND THE OPPOSITE AT ONCE! there, now we're caps even.

This is escalating into a caps-war, so I'll just jump in.

We all are here (Fine. MOST of us are here) because we love Spiral Knights, and the memories of what it once was are still in our minds, and we think of them whenever we look at these current problems. Currently, the game has been, in a quick few months, thrown into a game that's radically different from what it was in May or June. It's more appealing to new players in this way, but it's completely neglected veterans, or at most quickly tossed in a few lines of code for them. First the Defenders and Defender Elites struggled to heat their gear with the lack of Shinings, but that could be easily circumvented by helping them earn copious amounts of Radiant Crystals. But now that RADIANTS themselves are gone, there's no loophole, no little strategy that makes us feel smart and useful and motivated to keep playing, just a big brick wall saying 'NOPE'. Compared to the era of mist energy, the Radiant-drought seems almost like torture, to see a game you saw sprout into the open, then suddenly slam a hammer into your face. A big hammer.

Read post #65. After a nice sleep. My mind has changed.

Listen, you see a challenge different to me. I can't convince you. I see things the way they are. If I see something I believe it, I accept it. I find a way to overcome it. Never in my life have I allowed anything to block my way. There is always a solution, always a way to overcome it. That's what I believe.

Just read post #65. You'll find that I have a different opinion on things now so our discussion yesterday was pointless, but enjoyable. Well not pointless then. It was relevant for yesterday but it's irrelevant to carry it on now.

Hey! I've had lots of fun on SK ever since I began! But it is really sad and true how knights hate on OOO just because they misintepret and ignore us (Sprites and Forge). But the game will go on! Right now they're just trying to find a way to balance everything and still make money. There's only one thing I have to complain about and thats Vampirigear! You know! When something's ready to be heated but you don't have enough crystals and it STILL absorbs your heat! That gets annoying. I get more heat for my 4* weapon doing a T1 run or a T2 floor, then i do running a T3 floor. It kinda makes me sad that I can't play around in T3 if i wanna heat... :(

But back on topic. I feel sorry for OOO they try their hardest and then we yell at them. It's like yelling at a puppy! When we yell all our complaints at OOO we make Eury and everyone else on the OOO team scared and confused. And that just makes everything even worse. So please, if you're gonna complain, please do it in a formal, peaceful way. Remember, War isn't good for anything.

I see things the way they are.

you can't possibly do that because of opinions. I can see a thing in a way, but I can see in another way, and who created the thing saw that in another one, and so on and so forth. comes with being unique, and it's why teams are usually better when they are focused on problem solving.

At the end of the day OOO are in control so voice your opinion at them. Things might get done. If we work together then you're right, we can make some difference.
