Knight-ingales.

Solomon entered the camp, followed by Leeroy, Rhendon & the Almirian VIP. He wandered through the ravaged area, craters and newly raised tents dotting around the area, with ruined pods circling around camp fires as make shift shelter and command posts. His heart felt heavy for every second he saw the sights through his helm.

There were numerous amounts of Knights propped up against a couple of salvaged drop-pods, recieving as much sympathy and calming words as their friends could muster, knowing that any actual medical attention would be hard pressed, and may not ever arrive. Dreary faces met his gaze as he looked over the small groups of Recruits & Squires, tuning up their gear for any sub-sequent Morai attacks, or hostile threats from the planet itself. No words could be said to raise even a single spirit in this place. He jerked his head forward, signalling for the others to follow him post-haste to the Elevator.

Doing his best to make his way past the sights in camp, and toward the Elevator, Solomon eventually blanked out his thoughts of his surroundings as he arrived at the Warden.

"This is 2nd Officer Solomon Trent, Rank Vanguard. I request access to Haven via this Elevator". Solomon rested his hand on his scabbard, trying to block out the trauma that must have be-fallen the other knights here.

Heck, some were just kids...
Some had served for an age...
And half of them were already dead or dying.

Warden lets you through.

The young warden stood to attention and saluted Solomon. "Sir. Access granted, sir. Good luck." He stepped aside and allowed them to step onto the platform. When Trent hit the button, the elevator hummed to life. Unlike the elevators on Isora, this one felt antique and frail, like it would break and fall down the shaft if you so much as kicked it. It rattled and clanked eerily as it moved, and its occupants would jump and wait anxiously whenever it made a snapping sound.

Unsurprisingly, nobody got any sleep by the time it reached the bottom of the chasm. The awful smell of rusted metal immediately filled their nostrils when the elevator ground to a halt. The harsh browns and grays of the Clockworks gave them splitting headaches within minutes of their arrival. The mighty gears of the eternal machine churned with just enough discord to put off any chance of sanity.

Rhendon rubbed his eyes and yawned. "You have no idea how much I despise this place. I'm going to grow another gray hair by the end of this. Look!" He ripped off a hair and held it up like it was a trophy. "Look how gray it is! Ugh, I'm going to hate your guts before we're done. Good thing I won't ever have to see you again after that, because once you reach Haven, I'm outta there and back to the bloodbath."

First post!

Rhendon tossed away the hair, "Hey, I'm going to scout ahead. I'll report back to you when I am done." Without waiting for a reply, Rhendon made his way forwards, hiding behind assortments of boxes and other scrap. He ran forwards ducking behind some piles of trash as a squad of robots passed. He loaded his Blitz in case he was caught off guard. He continued forward, picking his way through the piles of junk. He thought to himself, Man they need to clean this place up. He ducked behind another pile, and decided to take back his previous statement. After a quick survey of the area, he started back towards the others. As he went, he noticed a squad of constructs three small ones with swords and a big one that looked half wood. From the look of it they were making their way to his teammates. Rhendon looked around and picked up a piece of scrap metal. He found a piece of crumpled up metal. Picking it up, he found a target. Hurling the scrap metal, he ran forward as he heard it clang against a pile. The robots turned, scanning for what made the noise, but Rhendon was already past them. He looked back at them, grinned, and ran back to the others. Rhendon waved at Solomon, "Hey we got a robot squad heading our way. Get ready!"

Affraiel is lonely :(

[Elzilia makes another blazing charge at Affraiel with her energy blade, Affraiel evades the blade and Elzilia soon finds herself stuck on the side of the chasm with the blade buried deep into the rocky wall.]

Affraiel: *taunts Elzilia* “What is the matter, got stuck?”

Elzilia: *takes her blades out of the rock wall* “Don’t flirt with me! Old man!”*rushes into close quarter with Affraiel*

[Affraiel’s blades collided with Elzilia’s, the flashes of sparks created from the sword fight glows ever furiously in the midnight darkness. Despite Affraiel’s superb parrying technique, Elzilia’s speed and dexterity outmatched Affraiel’s pace, with a clean strike on Affraiel’s chest plate, a large chunk of metal is sliced off and Affraiel’s torso becomes vulnerable. Affraiel takes a quick step back and uses half of his reserve suit energy to perform a powerful ground slam with both of his twin leviathan blades, hoping that Elzilia will be caught off guard and get stunned by the tremor. But Elzilia dashes as far back as her can and successfully avoided the attack.]

Nezula: *cuts into Affraiel’s frequency* “She is too fast! Your heavy attacks won’t work!”

Affraiel: *whispers to Nezula* “Then what should I do?”

Neuzla: “The jet engines on her back! Break them and she will slow down, maybe then you can fight her on equal ground!”

Affraiel: *chuckles* “Good thinking …Nezula…”

[Affraiel puts one of his leviathan blade back and taunts Elzilia with a pointing finger. Elzilia is sent to a rage and cranks her jet engine to full power and thrusts herself towards Affraiel.]

Elzilia: “We are done here!!!” *swipes her energy blades at Affraiel*

[Affraiel leans forward with the single leviathan blade in his right hand, let’s out a battle cry and begins sprinting, Elzilia, seeing that Affraiel is ready to face his end, charges into the open without a second thought. ‘So young…yet so reckless’ thought Affraiel who is crammed inside a clumsy armour, with the sharpened instinct as a war veteran, he evades the deadly precision attack from Elzilia and slashess his blade just as she is passing through. The blade damaged one of the two jet engines and Elzilia’s speed is greatly reduced.]

Elzilia: *sees that her jet engine malfunctioned* “What the? You cheating old bastard!” *tries to put out the fire with her hand, but the damage is beyond her control*

Affraiel: *chuckles* “What is wrong, is this ‘old man’ too fast for you?”

Elzilia: *points at Affraiel with great anger* “This is not over! You hear me?!” *steps away from Affraiel, realizing that she cannot fight him in her condition*

Affraiel: *walks closer to Elzilia, cracks his knuckles* “Well, what a rude girl… I need to teach you a lesson or two on respecting the elderlies.” *taunts Elzilia* “Come closer!”

Elzilia: *squints her eyes and grinned* “I see…”

Affraiel: “?!”

Elzilia: “That suit of yours uses up a lot of energy during combat doesn’t it?” *giggles*

[With just one jet engine remain, Elzilia launches her whole body at the unsuspecting fake-warden. A powerful drop kick slammed right into Affraiel’s helmt, making a large dent on the vent. Now knocked to the ground, Affraiel is as good as dead, with most his suit’s energy used up, he can no longer get back up.]

Elzilia: *raises one of her energy blade up into the night sky* “This is good bye! Affraiel! I am liberating you from this prison!” *suddenly, in the darkness, a team of knights arrived to the rescue, it was Solomon and Leeroy.* “Hmm, so you have friends after all…”*puts her energy blade away* “we will meet again… there is no honour in taking the life of an incapacitated foe…” *leaves the scene with a flash of jet fire*

Nezula: “She left?” *exhales with relieve* "That was a close call..."

Affraiel: *yells at the direction of the knights* “Hey! Anybody! I am down! Could use some help here!”

Name sake.

Solomon saw the group of Robots approach him and his group at a slowed pace. Behind them, was a Lumbering behemoth of a beast. With no knowledge of what they were, Solomon improvised and came up with names to help direct his squad to the best effectiveness. The little robots bore swords like the Knights of the order. So maybe Robot Knights? Mechanical...Mecha...Mecha Knights. That'd do. And the big thing, it was slow and lumbering so...Lumber? No that was stupid, it was more like a tree thing. Tree Man was a good name.

With enough thoughts behind naming, the Vanguard called over to Rhendon.

"Rhendon, can you open some Blitz rounds into them from behind, we need the Mecha Knight's attention to be drawn away from Tree Man over here".

Tree man didn't sound right as he called it out. Maybe naming it by its slow lumbering movement was a good idea? He decided that the name of "Lumber" was fitting enough, and relayed his orders onto Leeroy, as he spied a familiar sight by the Recon's belt.

"Leeroy, arm one of those Irontechs, and get in close under your recon cloak. If Rhendon keeps them distracted, that blast should take them down a notch. Then all we have to worry about is the Lumber".

Lumber sounded right. Flowed off the tongue much better than Tree man. He turned his attention toward Dejah.

"Im sure that you are capable of handling yourself, but please just stay back for now and defend yourself if neccesary".

His last remark was aimed at Sherry, who probably didnt like him very much.

"Oh and girl...it'd probably be bad if you died, so don't". The Vanguard unsheathed his Leviathan blade, and waited for the right time to strike at the...
Tree Man?
Lumber?
...The Big one.

Time warp, weee

Dejah resisted the urge to laugh as Solomon finished his statement. She lived on Cradle. The pathetic Mecha Knights and Lumber, which Solomon had coincidentally named correctly, were but another piece of scenery in the Clockworks for Dejah.

"Whatever you say, Solomon." she said smirking.

Though Dejah had to admit that Solomon was merely reacting as best he could in the situation, he did so excellently. Stepping back to get out of the way, she crossed her arms, her back to a wall of Clockwork refuse.

Let's see how you handle a taste of the Clockworks, Knights.

Mini... mini... Mine... fight?

Leeroy activated his Recon Pack, And started rummaging through his pack. But it appeared that all his Bombs were replaced with flat bellied Turtle Plushies. "What the hell....?" But then he noticed the two buttons on either side. "Who put Turtle Plushies on my bombs? Oh well." Leeroy said, Begining the charge, And slid the bomb underneath the knights. The Mecha Knights had no time to react, Because Leeroy had "Cooked" the bomb like a grenade.

"Mecha Knights are down!"

Bigger they are~

With the Mecha Knights taken care of, and only the Lumber remaining, Solomon set off to take down the big beastie. The creature loomed above him at nearly twice his own height, as he got closer. The tree-like being seemed to be docile, until it prepared its first attack. Solomon saw it coming, and rolled to the left, avoiding the attack. It seemed like this thing relied on brute, unrefined power.

Solomon dodged and weaved around the heavy strikes caused by the Lumber as it twisted itself around at its fastest speed, which at any rate was still slow compared to a Vanguard's reflexes. As the Lumber brought down one of its arms, Solomon dashed to safety, and sliced across its legs as he recovered. The great beast creaked in pain as it tried to turn and face the knight. By the time it had faced the direction from where it was attacked, Solomon had already maneuvered around to its back, and struck at its legs again. The Lumber wailed once more, yet did not crumple from the wounds sustained. The Vanguard scanned the body of the Lumber, looking for its weakspots. Alas, the thing was built like a tank. But there was one spot which was different. It may have been its head, or something similiar, but it was the best chance he had to finish things quickly. A glowing light which appeared to be an eye of sorts. Solomon took the chance to strike at that area.

The Lumber arched itself around to meet the Vanguard once more, this time actually seeing him in the same direction. The slow construct raised its mighty arm, and thrust it downward. Solomon back-stepped to avoid, and dropped his shield to reduce his weight. Before the Lumber could retract his arm, the now lighter Solomon dashed toward the Lumber, and clambered onto its Club-like appendage. Solomon jumped onto the Lumber's central body, so he was literally face-to-face. Unable to grab the Vanguard, the Lumber shook itself from side to side, trying to rid itself of the unwanted guest.

The Vanguard secured himself by digging his feet into the nooks of the Lumber's frame, and spun his sword around in his hand, before thrusting the blade through the eye of the Lumber. The construct almost stopped shaking itself instantly, as it began to creak backward, and fell onto its rear, a cloud of dust forming as it landed with a thud. Solomon rode the beast down, and sheathed his blade once again. He looked back at his group.

"Anyone need firewood?"

The Vanguard smirked, until he spotted a large, bulky figure up ahead. He called out to Rhendon since he was farthest up the path way.

"Rhendon, there's some sort of bulked up Knight up there, go find out what it is, if its one of ours, and if its still alive!".

Rhendon raised a hand to signal that he understood. He made his way up the path, towards the sprawled figure. As he got closer, he began to make out the suit of armor that the knight bore. It looked very heavy. Rhendon wondered to himself, How does he carry that? He walked over to the knight. Seeing that he was alive he spoke, "Hello there Guardian, what seems to be the problem?"

Finally I am saved....

Rhendon: "Hello there Guardian, what seems to be the problem?"

[Affraiel suddenly hears the sour voice of Rhendon calling out to him. It is already so late in the night and the suit barely had any energy saved up. He raises his hand and replied back to Rhendon with a wave. He manages to rotate his stone heavy helmet to face Rhendon's direction, using the last of his stamina, he yelled out for help.]

Affraiel: *yells* "Hey! You there!" *coughs, still feeling sick after recieving a drop kick from a girl with a jet engine on her back* "The name is Affraiel, my suit is fresh out of energy, do you think you and your pals can give me a lift to Haven!? Or a drag? That would be very much appreciated!" *gasps due to exhaustion* "Got beaten up pretty bad by some Morai elite! She is good! Really good!"

[Affraiel tries one last time to stand up wearing a suit that is almost three times as heavy as him self. But it was no use, he is too tired, being fighting through the morning till now, Affraiel is bathed inside the suit with his own sweat, the stench is beyond comprehension, soon enough, Affraiel falls into a state of unconsciousness by his own sweat. In the darkness, he sees a slender figure, it appears to be a pale, fruity looking man wearing a dark, skin tight rubber suit.]

The fruity man: *smiles in a creepy manner at Affraiel's incapacitated body* "Hello there, stud!"

Affraiel: *smirks in confusion* "Who the hell are you?"

The Big Bang Theory.

Solomon walks up behind Rhendon, then past him, standing by the side of Affraiel. The Vanguard promptly takes a knee to get closer to the level of the mysterious Guardian. Taking out a Tank, containing what seemed to be a misty vapour which made soft crackling sounds, he injected it into a port in the odd suit. He then cleared his throat, and proceeded to answer the questions proposed by the Downed Tank of a Soldier, who he hoped had regained enough temporary energy to hear him, or have something that was able to listen or record for him.

"This is Rhendon, a commendable Recon Knight. I am Solomon Trent. An Officer who was present on board the Skylark, and am on my way to Haven, along with my squad" Solomon pauses briefly, before continuing.

"I overheard your yelling from a ways off. From what you were saying, your suit is out of energy and is constricting your movement. As much as I wish I could carry you on my back, I feel that Id be flattened in mere seconds. Seeing as though you can't resist, and that this seems relatively thick, I have an idea that may work. Just take it easy & relax, trooper".

Solomon Trent whistles, and calls over to Leeroy.

"Leeroy. Prime up another Turtle and stick it to this guy's armour! If we can't remove it, the overbearing usage of energy in the suit's power system may kill him!" He added onto his sentence quite quickly "Also get back after. The armour may send off shards of metal upon detonation. It'd be quite bad if one hit you...!"

The Vanguard lowered his head in thought, and raised it a moment later, getting up and heading over to the Almirian woman. Maybe he could ask for marks out of 10 by the time he got over there. That and hopefully be out of range from any shrapnel the suit may give off.

The Knight would die either die slowly with the suit on, Die quickly to the explosion of a bomb, or live from the release of the suit, so Solomon himself could administer health supplies to the best of his abilities until he could get him to Haven safely. While all these thoughts passed through his head, he had arrived by Dejah.

"So...Marks out of 10 for that performance, M'lady?"

I realized I am merely a responder so far...

And somehow Mr. Berserko survived, and now they're using turtles to free a turtle, amusing.

As Solomon approached Dejah, her signature smile was already on her face. As he spoke to her she considered his position - high enough to command everyone, yet humble enough to request another's opinion?

"To be fair, you are new to Cradle, but these notorious Clockworks can cook up things far worse than what you Knights could ever expect."

Dejah knew she had to play it right; she needed the Knights to depend on her, need her.

"I'd give you a seven, but you know, three points more gor style?" Dejah tapped Solomon on the nose before walking off. "Now let's get out of this pit."

Mister Berzerko is not impressed with Solomon >:(

Solomon: "I overheard your yelling from a ways off. From what you were saying, your suit is out of energy and is constricting your movement. As much as I wish I could carry you on my back, I feel that I’d be flattened in mere seconds. Seeing as though you can't resist, and that this seems relatively thick, I have an idea that may work. Just take it easy & relax, trooper".

Affraiel: “hmm, finally, wait what?”

Solomon: "Leeroy. Prime up another Turtle and stick it to this guy's armour! If we can't remove it, the overbearing usage of energy in the suit's power system may kill him!"

Affraiel: “Hey! I said drag me back to haven, not blow me back to Haven!”

Solomon: "Also get back after. The armour may send off shards of metal upon detonation. It'd be quite bad if it one hit you...!"

[Affraiel didn’t know what he was in for, but suddenly he sees leeroy planting down a bomb on his chest. He realizes that the knights are trying to free him from the suit. But this is not how he wanted it to turn out. As the turtle bomb ticks away on the timer. Affraiel throws a last ditch effort to save himself from oblivion, he rotates his body around and let the bomb detonate below him. Hoping that the ground of the chasm can absorb some of the shockwave. His plan worked, the suit suffered minor damage and he quickly recovers from the minor concussion, but before he could scold Solomon bitterly for his recklessness. The ground below him crumbled under his suit’s crushing weight.]

Affraiel: *tries to stand up and run* “No No No No No No No No!!!” *falls into the clockwork* “DAMN YOU SOLOMoooooooooooooooon!!!!” *his belly hits the copper beam of a mechanism* “OoF!” *face plant into a massive cog* “ARGH!” *right arm scraps along an iron pipe* “Do’h!” *slams into an abandoned work shop* “URGH!!!”

[Affraiel, with his nerves of steel, still managed to stay alive after the fall. He sees the fruity man he encountered earlier sitting on the top of his chest, looking ominously at him.]

Affraiel: “That moron! How can he just blow me up like that?” *glares at the fruity man* “And who the hell are you?!”

Fruity man: *chuckles* “Have a guess!”

Nezula: “Affraiel, are you okay? And who are you talking to?”

Affraiel: “Can’t you see that there is a fruity man dressed in black setting on my chest?”

Nezula: “No, there are not a single heat signature anywhere near your proximity…”

Affraiel: “Then, that means…” *sends a shiver down his spine*

Fruity man: *winks* “That is a BINGO! You guessed it! I am a ghost!”

Affraiel: “Argh! What is a ghost doing on the top of my chest?!?!”

Nezula: “Affraiel, what is wrong with you? Are you haunted?”

Affraiel: “Yeah, there is a fruity man sitting my chest!!!”

Nezula: *sighs* “Your really are a fascinating man, Mister Affraiel…”

Fruity man: *puts his finger on his mouth* “SHHHhhhh----”

Affraiel: “…”

Fruity man: “Sorry, let me introduce myself! My name is Eugene! The spirit medium soldier of the Spiral Order!”

Affraiel: “You are a living ghost?!”

Fruity man->Eugene: *nods his head while grins* “Yeah, I have took quite the liking in you! Say, how about we make a deal?”

Affraiel: *sees that there is no way to escape this madness or hallucination* “I am listening…”

Eugene: “I will use your vessel once you died, in exchange, I will assist you in combat, until you die of course!”

Affraiel: “Fine, where do I sign this stupid deal?”

Eugene: *narrows his eyes and widens his grin* “You already did!”
[After the weird conversation, Affraiel finds himself near a campfire, as his vision is cleared. He sees a warden, who looks battle tested. Looking stilly at him.]

Always a bigger fish.

Affraiel awoke to the sounds and smells of a campfire.

Should he sit up and look around, he would find a massive Guardian sitting next to him. He had on an Azure Warden helm, Azure Guardian armor, a Guardian Shield, a Guardian Armor breastplate, and a sheathed Divine Avenger on his back. Markings on his armor indicated him to be Vanguard rank. There were innumerable kill tallies on his left pauldron and an Alpha symbol on his right pauldron.

He wasn't much bigger than Affraiel himself, but he certainly looked imposing in all his armor.

"You awake yet?" his voice rumbled. "You held up well after such a long fall."

Praise the sun~~~~~

[It is about an hour passed since the dawn break. The light shoots through the chasm’s hole made by the turtle bomb and reflected onto Affraiel’s armour. With the sunlight’s energy, the suit is quickly recharged to full power. After a few minutes, Affraiel finally managed to get up. The silent warden, seeing that Affraiel is all better now, breaks the silence.]

Grantz: "You awake yet?" *rumbles* "You held up well after such a long fall."

Affraiel: *stays near the sunlight* “Yeah, would you mind if I sleep here for a while? I fought for the whole night and it would be nice to have some sleep.” *lies back down and stretches* “Hah… so” *looks at Grantz* “What is your story? Got separated from your team?”

The thanks I get.

The Vanguard smirked at the comments remarked by Dejah. Maybe this diplomatic approach was going better than he had hoped. Solomon was still conversing with the Almirian VIP, as the Turtle Bomb detonated, sending the unfortunate heavy spiralling down the chasm. The Vanguard heard his name echo out from the trench, as he turned to investigate the aftermath.

A helm peeked over the edge of the hole, peering down into the chasm below. Solomon whistled, impressed at the destructive capabilities of the Recon's explosives. He propped himself up, leaning on the bridge's sparse railings, and addressed the squad & Rhendon.

"Well, if he was alive enough to blame me for trying to help, then I'm sure he'll be fine". He turned his attention to Leeroy, and gave him a thumbs up.

"Nice work on those Bombs by the way. They're sure to get us out of a few sticky situations, I'm sure". Solomon back-tracked to the VIP, and accompanied her further across the bridge, signalling the others to side step the new hole, and carry on toward the Elevator leading up to Haven.

The thanks you deserve.

The landscape remained fairly unchanging, the familiar rusted, enigmatic world. Even to Dejah, it was queer once again witnessing the merge between the 'earthen' land and the ancient mechanical interior. That was until they encroached upon a large spherical object, buried in the ground, ebony streaks splaying outwards. Its surface was marked the Knights' crest.

Dejah did not stop, instead, she directed a question at Solomon.

"So how did you get on Cradle?"

Getting a move-on.

Haven.

That dusty, dirty town where all the riffraff of "knightly" society gathered. Noobs and vets bickered over petty faults, merchants filled the air with their annoying jingles, and obese snipes squawked indignantly as knights ran around herding and stepping on them.

The squad entered town at the break of dawn, just as the golden sun peeked over the horizon and spread her rays like a blanket over Cradle's dusty plains. Eta, Theta, and Iota squads were at the Auction House gearing up for an early morning assault on Morai positions, and they saluted the four arriving knights as they passed.

Solomon's communicator suddenly went off, and Kora's sweet voice came over the channel. "Hey Solomon! Congrats on reaching Haven! Spiral HQ is south of the Garrison, which is located east of the Town Square. Your new squad member should be waiting for you there."

Grantz's face flushed (invisible underneath his helmet) when he realized that carrying Affraiel around was probably not the most socially acceptable thing to do. Affraiel: *walks along side with Grantz* "Whose order? Who told you to escort me?"

[Affraiel, while waiting to for a response from Grantz, looks into a pile of stones laying idly in the grass. He suddenly hears the booming sound of a jet engine in the distance, followed by the sounds of rocks crumbling, it must be Elzilia the purple talon. Affraiel frowns when he realizes that he has just acquired his first arch-rival on cradle.]

Affraiel: *chuckles at Grantz* “Heard that jet noise in the back ground? The Elzilia purple talon is around… she is some kind of Morai elite, so fast and so deadly… just the kind of woman I like.”

Dat Grantz is a bit naive.

"I was instructed to escort you on Feron's orders, sir." Upon hearing the jet noise, he stopped, hunched, and looked around anxiously for the source. Affraiel chuckled. "Heard that jet noise in the background? The Elzilia purple talon is around. She's some kinda Morai elite, so fast and deadly...just the kind of woman I like."
"Erm...yes, well, good luck with that sir." He took one last look behind him and continued cautiously onward.

Then Grantz cleared his throat to ask a question. "Ahem. If I may be so bold, I have a question sir: who is Lord Serris?"

Lore incomming!

Grantz: "Ahem. If I may be so bold, I have a question sir: who is Lord Serris?"

Affraiel: “Lord Serris…” *mumbles* “Why… You are a big fan of him?”

[Seeing that Grantz is eager to know, Affraiel empties his lung and begins the story.]

Affraiel: *clears his throat* “Listen up kid! Lord Serris was a bad, bad man, a rich and spoiled son born into a rich vanguard family.” *sighs* “You have no idea that there was a time when your rank meant your social status, right?” *chuckles* “Here comes your history lessons, back then on Isora, the vanguard rank guarantees you a good life, you get to live in the best housing, enjoy the best food, a utopic system set up by the spiral order, you go explore the other planets, serve the Spiral Order, you get the good life.”

[Affraiel re-moisturizes his tongue, the very thought of Serris makes him sick. But still, he has a story to finish, Affraiel never feared death, but what he is afraid of, is that he can’t make a difference in this world before he meet his end.]

Affraiel: “But there is nothing there for the weak and poor, those who can’t afford weapons or fight well are sent to the slums, living the hardship. My parents are so poor that they have to abandon me when I was born, I don’t blame them, I was nothing more than a deadweight to them. You might still be wondering who brought me up, It was an old man by the name of Qiu, he is a weird fellow, an expert marshal artist who got exiled out of the order after his skill was ‘no longer required’, we lived in an age of ranged warfare, weapons like your own fist and swords are nothing more than a thing of the past.”

[Affraiel knows that he has gone off topic, so he refocuses.]

Affraiel: “So Qiu and I became like father and son, he trained my body and my mind while I was growing up. He died due to aging when I reached 16, from that point on, it was all up to me, Qiu was like a father I never had… He told me before he died that I must use my life to its fullest, protect the weak and achieve justice. So I honoured his last wish by starting a revolution for equality, along with a few other exiled vanguards, we waged an all-out war against the upper 1% of the spiral order. Lord Serris was one of the order’s loyalists, he used the factories he inherited from his parents to build up a strong loyalist army. We fought our final battle at the city of Nowensgrad, our revolution army was crushed and I was sent to a forced labour camp, owned and operated by none other than lord Serris. He is still running an arm manufacture company till today, your armour, guns and blades are all made by that man, Serris is looking forward for this expedition to cradle, the war between the Morai and the Spiral Order will certainly fatten his wallet. I am locked up in this armour to demonstrate this suit’s survivability. After my mission his complete, Serris will certainly start selling this to the rest of the Spiral Order. More and more people will be locked up in this mobile prison…”

Serris: *cuts into Affraiel’s frequency* “Please, Warden Grantz, disregard these slanders and inaccurate historical facts. I am only doing this for the greater good, the prisoners are doing Spiral Order a favour by wearing these suits into battle, just look at the rescue camp that Affraiel saved. And besides, he will have his freedom as soon as his tour of duty with the Delta squad is complete.”

You've reached the elevator!

So THAT'S who Serris is. The brass keep talking about him like he's some kind of demi-god.

Grantz crossed his arms as he walked, trying to make sense of the story he just heard. "Something just isn't making any sense to me here. I mean, unjustly imprisoning people in tech suits sounds like a crime worthy of anger, but your anger seems to be directed at how well-off he is compared to you. Surely Serris fought hard to become a Vanguard, right? And if you fight hard, you can too. Unless he's intentionally stifling your progress, I fail to see how he is at fault. Sir."

Then, after another moment's consideration, "I mean, I'm not saying he isn't at fault, sir; I'm just kinda new to politics, so I guess I just don't quite understand it all, sir."

Time must have passed quickly, because they finally found the elevator. Grantz stepped onto the platform and waited for Affraiel to follow.

There is always a penumbra

Affraiel: *shakes his head at Grantz* “… It is always black and white with you isn’t it kid? We all ain’t got any control over our birth. He is lucky that he is born in a rich family and got a better start, but what about those who lived in the slum, my brothers and sisters? Do they all deserve to starve and die?”

Serris: “That is irrelevant, Grantz, hear me out, we can’t make every men a king in this world. It is just too much! We need rules and boarders to keep the harmony of this world-”

Affraiel: *shouts furiously* “- And let the weak die?!”

Serris: “… but you survived Affraiel, you clearly demonstrated that you aren’t as weak as your friends. 20 years in that forced labour camp I saw the resolve in your eyes, I know you are special… that is why I gave you this suit, think of it as an apology to all I have done. We can’t let everyone live Affraiel, the weak must be put aside to give way to the strong.”

Affraiel: *with a resolved tone* “We will let history decide who the real weakling is…” *tabs Grantz’s shoulder while entering the elevator* “I know you are not into politic, but hear this, next time, if you are tired of fighting for spiral order, fight for yourself instead sometimes.”

[Affraiel enters the elevator and the ascends to the surface. He sees that Grantz is still scretching his head. He sighs at the fact that Grantz is too young to understand what he had been put through, the world is really never black and white, more like a grey penumbra. Where the line between good and bad can be so blur. Soon, the Elevator reached the surface, Affraiel arrived at the front gate of Haven, amassed with sun-tanned marble wall buildings with sandstone road paving through the way. This town is clearly the imagination of a ten years old boy.]

Affraiel: *sneers* “So this is Haven, hun?”

Dirty ol' Haven.

Grantz let out a low chuckle. "Yup, this is Haven. This is only the second time I've ever visited it, so I still don't know my way around very well. Your friends should be arriving at the gate, which is...that way. You should probably meet them there before going to Spiral HQ, which is in the Garrison somewhere out east."

He paused. "And...sir? May I...uh, be your friend, sir?"

Grantz sent Affraiel a friend request

Grantz: "And... sir? May I...uh, be your friend, sir?"

Affraiel: “You need my permission for that?”

Nezula: *cuts into the frequency* “You can accept and sent a friend request from fellow knights, through accepting the request, you can view their locations and statuses. Pretty handy system wouldn’t you say? Developed all by Lord Serris and his team engineers.”

Serris: *clears this throat* “It is called a ‘super soldier’ network, you can make friends and track their status at any time! And also, sending private message is also available.”

Affraiel: “…What about privacy?”

Serris: “You can ignore stalkers and trolls if you so desire.”

Affraiel: “Hmm… I will take a look at that…” *looks at Grantz* “Say, sent me a friend request and I will accept it. That is, if you want me to private message you anymore lectures.”

Leeroy chuckled to himself lightly, After seeing a Knight rest on a Snipe, Or that's what they were called, According to the passing Strangers.
Sighing a little, He pulled out the small chain from under his armor, To look at the Ring on it that Kora gave him during the selection of Squads.
"Reminiscing about your girlfriend again?" Sherry said, Laughing at the reaction that Leeroy gave her.
Flustered, Leeroy stuttered "She's n-not my Girlfriend! But... It would be nice though." Leeroy said, Sighing once more.

Safe.

Solomon arrived by the Garrison, and put a couple of fingers to his helmet, as he recieved an incoming signal which appeared to be clearer in signal than out of the field. Kora must be alot nearer to him than he first thought. The Vanguard held up a hand, to signal his troupe to hold up as he took the call.

""Hey Solomon! Congrats on reaching Haven! Spiral HQ is south of the Garrison, which is located east of the Town Square. Your new squad member should be waiting for you there."

Solomon nodded, as he responded through his in-built comm-link.

"Loud and clear Kora. I'll make my way to the other side of the Garrison. I have a Recon & VIP with me however. Where should I send them?"

The Vanguard awaited for a few seconds for a response, before shrugging, and just leaving the ear-piece on stand-by for any transmissions that may come in later from Kora. Solomon placed both hands on his helmet's sides, and lifted off the heavy item. His hair was damp with sweat, as he blew up the fringe with a cooling breath. The Vanguard sat down on the floor, and crossed his legs, exhaling as he did so.

"Pheeew~ Nice to be in a Safe Haven for once. Oh. Haven. Heh...that's pretty clever". Solomon mumbled to himself about Haven's naming, before standing himself up and stretching, leaning over his side varying times like an exercise routine. He talked as he did so, not directed at anyone, though loud enough for anyone close to hear.

"Nothing like some stretches to ease up the joints of a long trek. While I wait for orders on where to direct you where we can negotiate..." Solomom turned to look behind him at Leeroy & Sherry.

"Leeroy, could you try and find someone who could take care of your girlfriend? I get a feeling Delta squad isn't going to be staying here for the long haul".

Captian Ozlo

Reaching up and touching his chin, the man sitting in his old chair studied the information before him as he looked on the screen's. His mind was perplexed trying to understand the creature's he saw from the camera's Kora was watching. He had to give the woman credit she was quite skilled in her ability to understand the information streaming at her at once. Still what perplexed him was not the skill at which his men and women fought at, it was the creature's. So strange and alien to the Morai and yet they all fought with the same level of Furosity.

"Kora, who all has arrived at the meeting hall?" The old Captian said as he reached up and adjusted his hat slightly. Taking a deep breath the purple eyed man relaxed as he was some what releaved to see the leader of Delta squad had made it to Haven. Yet his eyes drifted over the feed from a different group who had ventured on a forward's scouting mission, everything was too hazy to make out but he was able to make out quite a bit. It seemed they where in some kinda palace covered in goo. The Alpha Squad was strong but he knew the one weakness of any man, woman, or child, their fear.

Looking over at the other screen he saw a blank. It seemed Sirrus was still away doing something to be involved in this meeting, per perhaps he was on his way to the meeting hall himself. Either way Ozlo could not leave his command room, his order's came from here and it was the best way to over see the Skylark's repairs as they where being done.

"Kora, are you listening?"

Mor Stori!

A recon and a VIP...Rhendon. Kora switched to Solomon and said, "Recon goes back to rescue camp, unless you mean Leeroy, who stays with you. Who's the VIP, Solomon? I don't recall hearing about one arriving." She quickly scrolled through her electronic agenda, trying to figure out if a VIP was due to arrive. Augh, forget the agenda! I am SO busted if I can't get some preps made ASAP! She scrammed to contact Epsilon Squad and arrange for professional protection. "Zebulon, I need you to haul a$$ to Haven's main gate on the double! We got VIPs coming."
"We're kind of busy at the moment."
"I don't care. Drop it and run."
"Dang, Kora! You don't mess around!"
"I sure don't. Now move. And put on clean underpants."
*sigh* "Yes ma'am."

She hovered her finger over a switch that would connect her to Leeroy. Should I? Closing her eyes and sighing longingly, she instead switched over to HQ. "Kora, who all has arrived at the meeting hall?" came the familiar, elderly voice of Captain Ozlo.
She sifted through the auto-agenda. "It looks like...Evaria should have arrived by now."
"Yup, she's here," Feron confirmed.
"Oh! Hello Lieutenant! Looks like you're early."
"Heh heh, I was hoping to surprise you with my presence. Nothing gets past you, does it?"
"No sir! At least, not much. Your teleconference is scheduled right here on my agenda." Dam surprise VIPs. I'm gonna kill him, whoever it is that came with Solomon. "Speaking of which, you've got a VIP coming."
"What!?"
"I know! There was, like, NO indication at all that this one was coming. You know..."
"What's up, Kora?"
"...gimme a sec."

Listening to the voice chat while looking over the final damage report on the Skylark Captian Ozlo opened the linked call with Feron on the Meeting hall. Looking up for a moment the Captain nodded to Feron with a unseen smerk.

"Feron could you send me a list of the current squad make ups? I have a feeling we should balance some of it out for Alpha Squad. I can't tell whats going on in the special forces, but reshuffling them will be good for right now. Also, Barrus is in the Hall on the far east getting everything set up in the old court house building. It seems they have already gotten everything set up for the Knights to start changing armor. That reminds me, what is this about these creature's called Gremlins...Belay that we have more importen problems on our hands. First and foremost is why we are here."

With that said Ozlo sat up and started typing on the key's in the arms of the chair he was sitting in. Reports came up all around as he started to read threw most of the current battle plans as well as defenses of the town they where staying in. It seemed the group called the Stranger's where taking well to the Military guest's yet he kept an eye on them. Over all he was caught by the Intel collected on the Morai Legion.

"Kora get me the latest information the movement of any or all known Morai camps or encampments. I have a bad feeling they brought more then just a landing party with them. Also, get Vaelyn here on the double, I want that woman here even if she is in the middle of using the washroom."

His tone maybe a little too bitter but Ozlo had a lot on his mind, his troops where scattered and as far as he could tell they had a VIP that was coming in as well. A small grumble seemed to escape the elder leader as he tried to peace most of the puzzle together.

"Lieutenant Feron whats the current plan for taking care of the advanced troops that were spotted on the other side of the chasm?"

The Meeting is in Progress.

Feron tapped the screen to send off the document. "I've just now sent you the updated squad list. I'll make a couple more copies, as Solomon will want to see the changes when he gets here."

"As for the plan..." Feron sighed. "...they've got the high ground. We need a few grenadiers and autogun teams to pin them down while we send several striker squads up their flanks. I don't need the men to be crack troops; they just have to be able to shoot straight, swing a sword, and keep their nerves. I need two wardens, two squads of autogunners, a squad of grenadier recons, and four squads of striker swordsmen. Can you get them for me?"

Just then, Vaelyn stepped through the door. "What's goin' on, boss?" she complained. "I wasn't done punishing those two noobs. You know who I'm talking about." She slumped into a chair and rested her cheek on one hand. "I wonder what Barrus looks like without his hat..."

Feron chuckled and took off his glasses. "Guess you'll find out soon enough. He's due to arrive any minute now." But Vaelyn wasn't listening; she'd drifted off again. He shook his head and began to print a few personnel files.

Ozlo looked over the documents as he started to peace together everything in his mind. They were currently trying to get their troops orginized back under one banner as they where still scattered but a collection of soldier's found their way to Haven, no doubt Kora's work. As for the Warden's, they where in short supply and even risking one was too many. They where too costly to train and feed to be thrown about at the drop of a hat. Typing something on a unseen screen the Captain reached up and touched his chin. It was going to cost them something either way and they had yet to even figure out where the main body of the Morai are. It was best for him to assume they already knew where the Order was being held up so that made it easier for him to make a judgment call then attacking.

"Best we can spare is One Warden. Outside of that the Troops are still falling into Haven at this point, I can trust you will get your team together from the more experienced lot who walk in. I will say this take the Delta Squad once they get the transfer in, once they are done here give them time to rest but make the best of their time."

The Captain turned as he looked at Vaelyn, she seemed to be daydreaming. No wanting to be angry but his gruf voice making it hard Ozlo snapped at her. "Wake up Vaelyn! Your the officer in charge of the Special forces not some squire on a brake. Now wake up and get your self ready the Delta Squad and Serris will be here any moment." With his words spoken Ozlo turned to face Feron once more, his temper still a little rushed.

"Kora if you would not mind, get me a status report on all the titled squads. This list is fine but I would like some up to date locations. Also Feron, when you get a moment we need to get the Quartermaster attention. We are going to need supplies to repair the Skylark. The Hull just needs some minor repair's nothing too obscene, and the fact we lost half the ship, but after a closer look by the Tech's and Engineer's they have seen the source of the problem. The Tearium Core exploded for an unknown reason. Currently we are taking Alpha Squad's landing ship in for slavage. but outside of that their is nothing we can really do until we get a new energy source."

His words falling with enough force to brake led the older man sighed as he sat back and looked over the monditer's before him. He was more atune to looking out at the stair's not being stuck in a control room looking over thousands of monitor's at once, that was Kora's job. Still he had an army to lead and he was not about to take a moment to look weak in front of them.

Solomon radio'd back a response, the comm still running between his mouth & ears, and not being apart of the helmet itself. Pressing down on the "Talk" button, he began to respond.

"The VIP is an Almirian that had been stalking me out in the wilds. She seems to be of some significance to their faction, and I took the decision on bringing her back here. I figured that the chance of gaining an ally in this dire time would be much more beneficial than them assuming we were invading, and proclaim us as enemies".

Solomon looked over to Dejah, who didnt seem to be paying much attention to the call, though he knew it was probably otherwise. He continued to talk to ask for further direction.

"So I need to know if you can get someone up here to look after her, while I make my way to the other side of the Garrison".

The Vanguard stood point, just waiting this point to recieve a response from Kora.

Leeroy soon had Sherry relaxed and sleeping in the nearby Soldier's Room, Which was not too far away from Solomon and the others, But he couldn't help overhear Kora ask Solomon over the comlink "Who's the VIP?"
Leeroy quickly typed up the (Mail) message
"The VIP is a Female, She goes by the name of Dejah, And calls herself "Almarian", I'm assuming for now that means She is neither Morai, Nor of the Spiral Order. If I were Solomon, I'd watch out..."
Finishing the message with that last thought, He sent the Mail to Kora. Thinking to himself, he realized She probably wouldn't see it for a while...

Arriving at HQ

Feron nodded to Ozlo from behind the video screen. "Understood. I can make do with one Warden. As much as I'd like to have Delta Squad, I must admit that they're not needed for this operation. Their skills would be better-spent elsewhere, specifically near the landed Morai battleship. I haven't drawn up any plans for assaulting it, so we'll keep in touch."

Vaelyn jerked up when Ozlo reprimanded her. "Well excuuuuse me Cap'! I'm already ready for the visitors; what do you want me to do in here while I'm waiting, start up boot camp or something? Sheesh." She crossed her arms and scowled, remaining quiet for the duration of the wait.

Kora put several calls on hold and whipped up the list Ozlo demanded. "I sent it off sir. I don't have a position on Theta Squad yet; I suspect they were killed, but I can't confirm it. The remaining squads are on the list."

She switched back to Solomon. "Wait, Almirian? Who are they? Okay, now you really need to stop by HQ for a debriefing. Take her with you. Epsilon Squad should have arrived by now."

And they had. Zebulon marched up to Solomon and saluted. "This had better be worth my time, punk," he said angrily.

Solomon saluted back, not showing any emotional change toward Zebulon's remarks. He answered back based on what Kora had just said.

"Seems like Kora and the others wish to meet the VIP here, so she'll be accompanying me to the South of the Garrison. Leeroy, as the Recon of my squad, shall also be accompanying me there in due course, however...". Solomon looked to where the Recon had just arrived from, and noticed the lack of his companion.

"You may want to keep an eye out for the Recon's lady friend. She seems like more trouble than I could handle at this time. Apart from that, seems like I'll be taking the others with me. Seems like a wasted journey after all...".

Solomon gestured for the others to follow him, as he hastily made his way to the South Garrison. As he set off, he waved a hand behind him, almost mockingly wishing Zebulon a 'Good Luck & Goodbye', as if to respond to the Punk remark in his own way. On route to the Garrison, he turned to Dejah mid-jog, and replied eventually.

"I realise I have yet to answer you, but I feel like my Superior, Lieutenant Feron, will be able to handle your questions with a great deal more clarity and grandure than I ever could. Just have to wait for a little longer". Solomon faced forward again, as he came upon the entrace of the Southern garrison, seeing Kora & the other officials gathered inside.

"Whatever you say."

Dejah was not pleased. Of course she understood the logic behind the reasoning, but honestly, they were allocating their resources to protect her? Sure their headquarters could not see her, but Solomon should clearly have at least respected that the fact that she wasn't some pathetic damsel.

Sighing briefly, she maintained her composure, pouting only on the inside.

Meet Delta Squad

Feron and Vaelyn looked up when Delta Squad walked in. At least, what was left of it. "Good to see my boys in one piece," Vaelyn quipped with a wry smile. Feron saluted and shook Solomon's hand. "Good to see you, Sir Trent. Have a seat; there's a few major things we'd like to go over with you."

Feron sat back down and pulled out a piece of paper. "So...let's see what's on the agenda. Ah yes...Lord Serris, in his 'infinite wisdom,' decided to rearrange a few squads in a particular way. You lost a couple members - Dorien and deMarquise, correct?"
Solomon felt a twinge of grief plunge into his heart, and his expression soured. He curled up his fists and stared at the floor.
Feron continued. "Well, we need to cut our losses and move on. Serris has already decided who would replace you, and between you and me, I find his choices a bit strange."

"Replacing Guardian Soren deMarquise is you, the criminal Affraiel," he said, pointing to the exhausted guardian sitting on the floor. "I personally would have picked Daud or Grantz, but it's not my place to question Serris' judgment."

"Replacing Striker John Dorien is an even stranger pick. I don't know why he wanted to make a lifelong guardian serve as a striker, but whatever. Vaelyn, bring her in." Vaelyn nodded and stepped outside. A moment later, she returned with Evaria in tow. Feron coughed and announced,

"Evaria Grantz, meet your new squad."

Serris > Bechamel

[Grantz departs with haste and Affraiel is now alone, wondering through Haven while looking for the HQ, the place that they were supposed to meet up. Suddenly, Lord Serris appears out of nowhere and greeted him. Aged 25, Serris is one handsome man, wearing a posh coat with a pink jeans.]

Affraiel: *looks down at Serris’s pink Jeans* “… It seems Béchamel got his hands on you…”

Serris: *laughs* “Please, don’t compare me with that fashion deprived kinky! These jeans are made from the fabrics of the highest quality, you can only find them in a type of sea sponge four kilometres down in the Isorain northern ocean trench. They glow at night as well!”

Affraiel: *sneers* “Killing you would be an act of kindness to the manhood of all the male knights across the world…”

Serris: “After you are done with your missions, you are free to do whatever you want, but for now, you are deemed too dangerous for this little town. Besides, we still got Morai up in our backyard, your skills would be decisive in the battles that are still ahead.”

Affariel: *sneers* “Shouldn’t you be discussing military matters with Ozzy and Ferry? What are you doing here? ”

Serris: *snaps his finger, a team of engineers appeared* “I am here to fix up your suit…”

[The engineers take out their tools and started to dismantle Affraiel’s outer armour, the dented chest plate and helmet vent and replaced with new ones. And then, another piece of steel plate is reinforced onto Afffraiel’s chest. For the next part, two new electrolyte cell tank is installed onto the suit’s back side. As soon as the repair is done, the engineers vanished into the alley ways, it just Affraiel and Serris now.]

Affraiel: *sees the cell tanks, becomes alarmed* “Hey! Serris! What is the meaning of this?!”

Serris: “Relax, it is two electrolyte cell tanks that are connected to your suit’s main battery. If you run out of power during combat, you can replenish your suit’s energy by activating one of the tanks, all you need to do is call Nezula and she will do it remotely for you. But be noted, these cell tanks recharges much slower than your suit’s cell, so don’t run around and start thinking that you are some kind of superman… now head to the HQ and report to the rest of your team.”

Affraiel: “I am liking the upgrade, mind if you tell me what they are for?”

Serris: “You not just fighting for yourself now… you got a squad to protect.”*passes a document Affraiel* “Here is a blacklist of all the Morai elites we have encountered in the past 24 hours, Elzilia, the purple talon is only one of a four men elite team. Be on the lookout for them… now head for the HQ, Feron and Ozlo are waiting, tell them that I said hi.”

A Somber Mood

Sitting in his chair Ozlo watched over the precedings with due diligance as his post granted him. It was not against his will completely to have the named knights in Delta Squad, but as it stood the choice was out of his now. Yet what was on his mind now was the question of Serris' Location currently. It was a ever present nag in the back of the older mans mind.

"Well spoken Vaelyn." He said as a nod, just giving pitch the woman in charge of the special force's.

Reaching over Ozlo picked up a piece of paper that he just printed off his screen to read closer up, not because he needed to, but because he it added a depth of element to his next few words. "Sir. Trent, Vanguard. With the grace of Lady Vaelyn and the judgement of Sir. Serris you have been dubbed the Leader of Delta Squad, Iron Dragons. With this in mind, do you understand what this means as a soldier and as a Leader? Are you willing to make judgement calls on the battle field that will put the soldier's under you command in harms way, lead them with the honor and grace which has been bestowed apon you by the Order, and with everything in mind are you willing to take the Responsibility of those under you posted by Lady Vaelyn as stated before?"

It was a little long winded, but it was to make Solomon understand, or better redefine his role as leader and the hardships he will now face as a Leader once more. Still it was the one think the Captain was able to do, give his blessings to the man for his future lye now in the hands of his orders and those of his men in his choice's he will ahve to make as a leader. If it meant that he had to take a life in the name of the Order, or in the name of the order's give to him by a higher up he would do them with no reason to deny his resolve.

Too Much.

Solomon stared downward to the ground, taken back by the news that two of his trusted brethren, Knights who had served with him in the early days of the Morai Wars in Delta, were simply snuffed out, regardless of their experience or training. Had he overlooked how fortunate he had been? It could have been him that was deceased, as a part of a twisted version of Isorian Roulette. The words outside of his head were a blabbering of muffled noise, until he snapped back into reality, until Feron spoke of their newest addition.

"Evaria Grantz, meet your new squad."

Solomon gazed up from wet, red eyes, to gaze upon their newest striker. The feelings of remorse & travesty were slowly fading, being replaced by a sensation of fear. This was the same Knight who he had tried to resurrect in the pod beside him. He had seen her die, no vitals, and even a Spark of Life had failed. How was it that she was standing in front of him now, as alive as ever. He stood up from his seat shakily, everything transpiring around him making a mockery of any rational judgement he may have had up until that point.

The Vanguard tried to speak, but no sound vacated his mouth, just expressions of suprise. Glancing to his side, he saw Ozlo reading off words from a printed sheet of paper, probably listing off all the details he would have to undertake and the oaths he would would have to follow. All Solomon heard however was the muffled ramblings from earlier. His mind was in shock from everything happening too quickly, and he needed air. Before giving an answer to Ozlo, Solomon turned and dashed toward the exit, reaching outdoors a little while later, gasping for air, and rattling his mind to understand the situation. Leaning his body against a wall around the corner, he breathed deeply, hoping to gain some moments to try and think to himself before addressing it all again.
