The great reveal... Or is it?

Sherry did not sleep soundly this day, But rather tossed and turned in her sleep.
In her head, She relived her past...

Her house burned, The charred corpses of her mother and father rotting with the stench of death.
Sherry sat there, on her knees, Crying out in anguish. She could not bear to leave behind her whole past...
"Sherry! Come on, we have to go NOW! The bounty hunters could be here any moment!"
"B-but..."
"NOW!" The man said, his nondescript face clearly showing emotions of Worry, and anger.
"You're not going anywhere..." Said another man with a sleazy voice. His badge clearly showed the symbol of a Bounty Hunter.
"Come with us... and we'll let you live."

The memory dissipated, And when sherry awoke, Her cheeks were wet with tears, But she couldn't remember the dream.

Affraiel is utterly amazed

[Affraiel, while taking a nap on the stairs. Heard a strange announcement.]

Feron: "Evaria Grantz, meet your new squad."

Affraiel: *wakes up from his slumber* “What, Grantz, you are a woman…” *remembers the time she carried him on her shoulder* “… that is impossible! I thought only she-man can lift me up like that!”

Nezula: “Ugh, who is she-man?”

Affraiel: “Lieutenant Desna, that girl is so tough that she beat me in an arm wrestling contest…”

Nezula: “So, you owe her a dinner now?”

Affraiel: “Dinner?” *chuckles* “It has been ten years since I first meet her, I wonder if she even recognize me…” *looks back at Evaria, who is the one behind the warden armor that he known as Grantz* "... Ugh, yeah... a girl like you ain't know nothing about politic! I should have just kept my mouth shut..."

[Affraiel now looks at Solomon and Leeroy, he is hardly impressed.]

Affraiel: *sees Solomon’s sad impression* “Yeah, you better be sad, you got me blow down into that damn planet with that stupid bomb of yours!” *strokes his new chest plate* “I kinda like it in this suit, so next time, know yourself out before trying to blow me up again.”

Nezula: “I think he is sad that two of his former teammates have died during the crash…”

Affraiel: “Well, I am the replacement guardian right?” *stands up and tabs Solomon in the shoulder* “Don’t go all down on me like that boy. Cheer up! Uncle Affraiel has got your back!” *turns his head toward Feron and Ozlo, who are stunned by his manner* “If it isn’t Ozzy and Ferry! Hey, what is our next move!? I want to see those Morais cry home to their Mama!”*sees Solomon runs off from the garrison* "Hey, what the hell?"

Comforting the leader?

Evaria opened her mouth to speak, but Solomon dashed out before she could utter a word. What the heck? She walked up to the door and looked out. He wasn't there. She stepped outside, moved up to the corner and cautiously peeked around. There she found Solomon leaning against the wall, breathing hard.

"Sir? Are- are you okay?" She kept herself mostly behind the corner, just in case he blew up at her or something.

I didn't catch it before, silly me!

Dejah stood idly next to the opening where the Knights had conglomerated, but of course she wasn't allowed to be apart of whatever was occurring on the inside, until someone "formerly" briefed her. Leaning against the wall, she had nearly drifted off when Solomon dashed out in a fit if hyperventilation, effectively knocking Dejah wide awake, fully alert.

At first she thought she had mistaken whoever's miserable soul it was that had ran out, but watching him disproved any doubt that it was indeed Solomon.

What on Cradle could have possibly happened? Dejah didn't register the strange feeling that welled up in her; it wasn't unlike concern, except it was something else, something perhaps stronger.

Before she could give pursuit, another Knight emerged, clearly agitated by Solomon's, Dejah assumed, unprecedented departure. Without so much as noticing her, the Knight raced off after Solomon, whom had just rounded a corner. Dejah didn't hesitate in following the two.

As they approached, the Knight paused at the edge of the corner, timidly expressing concern. Frowning disappointedly, Dejah stepped forward.

"Alright, what happened in there?"

Heart Kataclysm

Leeroy's eyes glinted, And he threw a menacing stare at Feron and Ozlo, A fierce frown forming upon his face.
"Tell Serris that he can go [Rust] off. He chose this team, Right?" Leeroy said, Muttering "Stupid [cog]..."

Leeroy walked outside, And sat down on the stairs. "*Sigh*, Come on man... I thought you were past the worries that your actions could indirectly or directly kill others... Especially when we're here for eachother when we screw up, even now."

Ozlo sighed, it was not the first or the last time he would see this sight. Looking at Feron he give a small gesture.

"I believe you should give him some words. It is best to get him calm. Also if you would not mind trying to talk him into coming back in, we have more to talk about before he is dismissed."

With that said Ozlo turned to another screen that was just out of sight, it seemed he was granted some good news after all. In his opinion, it was right on time. Still the elder man kept his somber mood as he read over the documents. Reaching up he adjusted his hat before speaking once more this time directly to Vaelyn.

"Lt. Vaelyn, when we are done here would you mind sticking around for a minute, I was to descues some more troop placement. Also we need to get this Haven up to some kind of formal working grounds. As it stands it-"

He kept going on about setting up a formal base of operations for the Order, it seemed he was trying to get at something the Biotech's had pointed out in one of the many reports being passed around the intel department.

Coping-ish.

Solomon turned to gaze at the very thing that had pushed him over the edge in the garrison. How do you begin to talk to someone you thought you had killed. The Vanguard began to talk to himself, although he had noticed the squad's striker was already there asking questions.

"I used emergency medical treatment, Sparks of Life, everything I could. I didn't want to leave her there alone, but the wolves were closing in...And I tried to give her eternal peace in that pod, but...

Composing himself just enough, he turned to Evaria, and spoke out a few brief words in response.

"Im sorry. I guess it just wasn't meant to be as straight forward as that".

Still shaking very lightly, Solomon offered out a hand to the striker, hoping to try and put everything behind him for his sake more than hers.

"Im Solomon Trent, I hope we can put this all behind us".

Solomon caught a flash of regal clothing in his line of sight past the striker, noticing dejah as the Almirian asked a question. Straightening himself up, into a seemingly more professional stance, the Vanguard replied as dutifully as he could.

"Sorry. I just got a little over-whelmed with current events, but I am perfectly alright now. I will rejoin the others in due time".

He wanted to break down just a while ago, he wanted to scream into the skies above Haven about what was going on, and grieve for the kindred brothers he had lost recently. But he knew he couldn't. He was an officer of the Order, and leader of Delta squad. Others would look to him in times of despair, and what would happen if eyes fell upon a leader wracked with anxiety?

Solomon turned to Evaria, and offered a hand out in gesture,

"Come on, shall we get on back to the Garrison? I feel introductions are still due to some".

Back to the garrison.

Evaria gladly clasped his hand and shook it. "It's an honor, sir! A real honor!" she gushed, her cheeks reddening furiously. I never thought I'd ever make it to Delta Squad! It's a dream come true! And that Solomon Trent. Oh. My. Gosh. So dreamy... After a few more moments of vigorous hand-shaking, she stepped back and brushed back a few tresses of hair. "Ahem! Yes, we should get back to the garrison." It took all her willpower to hold back the smile that badly wanted to break out. I'm in Delta Squad! I'm in Delta Squad! Yesssss! She covertly fist-pumped and stepped through the door after Solomon.

They entered just in time to hear Vaelyn and Ozlo discussing troop placements. Upon seeing their arrival, Vaelyn stopped and turned to them. "Well Solomon? Are you read to take the Squad Leader oath now, or are you going to run away from us again?" She smirked and shot him a knowing wink.

Not as Poisitive

Ozlo quickly wiped away the screen that was being used to show his face, the plans dissappearing in a blur of words and symbles. The old man was happy to see a quick recovery but at the same time he held his tongue for he knew the lad could be sent into another fit. Thinking ahead he already called a Field Medic and warned him about Solomon's little rush. Keeping his finger over the redial button he sat back in the chair designed for his title. "Give him a moment longer Vaelyn, the boy had quite a shock about him." Ozlo said with a smile unseen behind the iron face plate, yet his eyes said everything.

Back in the seat.

Solomon saluted the room, when he noticed his hand was still leading Evaria along with her hand. With a red blush developing under his helm, he awkwardly wriggled free from her hold, and stood to attention. The vanguard eyed the medic in the room, and brushed him off, ignoring his presence, and addressed Ozlo with a response to his question.

"I am quite fine, just needed some fresh air to clear my head of recent events. And yes sir, I am ready to take the Oath to become the leader of the squad in question. The Iron Dragons, both fierce and loyal to the order to the end". Solomon bumped his chest to clear his throat, before reading off the oath that Ozlo had said before he had left so suddenly.

"With your words in mind, I understand what it means as a soldier and as a Leader. I am willing to make judgement calls on the battlefield that will put the soldiers under my command in harms way, lead them with the honor and grace which has been bestowed upon myself by the Order, and with everything in mind, I am willing to take the Responsibility of those under my control, posted by Lady Vaelyn as stated before."

After taking the words he was needed to, Solomon relaxed his body and exhaled, losing almost all of his composure. He glanced over at Evaria & Leeroy, and gave a thumbs up to announce his newly found leadership. Then his head gestured as if he had just remembered something. He raised a finger in the air, and the pointed toward the criminal. He strolled up to the criminal and stood close to him.

"I understand that you are cranky, but I will not stand for insubordination toward myself as your leader. As such, for your snarky remarks, I will give you a punishment". A moment later, he brought out a Plushy turtle and a remote. With a swift motion, he stuck the turtle to the back of Affraiel's suit, and smiled as he held the remote in between his fingers.

"You remember what the turtles do right? This is just a remote controlled one". Solomon smiled to himself.

Watching to see how the man carried himself Ozlo rested his hand under his chin. HIs fingers touching where his mouth was hidden as he tried to gage the meaning of the Turtle's. It only struck him what it was when he saw the detonator. Trying not to be rude the elder watched, his gaze brought down by the distrust he already showed to his squad member. Regardless he had a reason, but Solomon should not have used that reason but rather trusted the man. Still in the back of his mind Ozlo knew he would do something much the same if he was in that position too.

"Its very well and good you have taken the role of leader, this makes us proud Vanguard. Now Lady Vaelyn will be giving you your fist mission. After that your free to leave." Not that he really wanted the group to leave, its just more personal matter's needed to be attended to before anything else could go wrong or worse the Morai get into Haven.

Detonator? Um, sure.

Solomon looked at the remote in his hand. The little device must have been more convincing than he had 1st thought. It did switch the turtle on, yeah. But all that turtle ever did was make dancing motions, flash its eyes, and play a nifty jingle. But if he could fool an officer into thinking it was a bomb turtle, then the convict should be easy.

"Yes sir, me and my team can take any scenario you hand us".

Solomon peered toward Vaelyn, awaiting further mission details.

Vaelyn's Mission

Upon entering the room, both Solomon and Evaria realized they were still holding hands, and released each other simultaneously. Evaria snapped a salute to her superiors and stood to attention near the entrance.

Vaelyn paced the room until everyone was settled. "All right kiddos, this is how it's gonna be. We got some scumbag Morai hotshots tryin' to take over the Bastion Arcade, and we can't let that happen. Don't know what Bastion is? It's another town like Haven, you dumb butts. Unlike Haven, it's not protected by a chasm on all sides, so its builders compensated by making it a heck of a lot tougher. To make matters worse, it's not even built on the high ground - there's a frikkin' big-a$$ hill overlookin' it from the east. Any Morai commander worth his $#!7 is gonna use that to his advantage. So your job is to put a stop to it. Got that, or do I need to repeat myself for you babies?"

Affraiel hates plushies

[Evaria and Solomon entered the room with their hands entangled together. Affraiel instantly becomes disgusted.]

Affraiel: *groans* “Hey you two, get a room or something!”

Nezula: “What is wrong Affraiel? They are just young people, falling in love…” *chuckles* “Don’t you never loved before?”

Affraiel: *shakes his head* “Battlefield is no place for love, useless and annoying… having feelings during the battle is the worst crime a soldier can commit.” *sees that Evaria and Solomon released their hands* “Ugh, finally, the drama is over…”

Solomon: "I understand that you are cranky, but I will not stand for insubordination toward myself as your leader. As such, for your snarky remarks, I will give you a punishment". *A moment later, he brought out a Plushy turtle and a remote. With a swift motion, he stuck the turtle to the back of Affraiel's suit, and smiled as he held the remote in between his fingers.*

Affraiel: *grinds his teeth* “You little punk! If you blow up the electrolyte cell tank on my back, it can send this whole building into the sky!”*tries to sieze the controller from Solomon*

Solomon: "You remember what the turtles do right? This is just a remote controlled one". *smiles*

Affraiel:*grumbles, backs away* “Ugh… I should have just stayed inside me cell when Skylark crashed…”

[After hearing Vaelyn’s briefing, Affraiel wasn’t impressed with the girl’s manner and the fact that he has to protect a town that is stupidly built in the middle of a kill zone.]

Affraiel: *sneers* “Why would anyone build a settlement all the way down in a bastion? They are asking to get bombard…”*looks at Vaelyn* “Hey vaelyn, mind if I and the squad take a good scout at that hill east side of the cliff?” *points at the high ground* “See that hill? Perfect artillery position, if Morai ever wants to blow that town to kingdom come, that is the place where they will place their howitzers.”

You just hit Evaria's berserk button.

“Hey you two, get a room or something!” came the familiar voice of Affraiel, the same man she'd had a conversation with just a few hours prior. “Battlefield is no place for love," he continued, "useless and annoying… having feelings during the battle is the worst crime a soldier can commit.”

What. Did. You. Just. Say. Evaria's previously stern expression soured. She stamped the floor and snapped, "Lieutenant Vaelyn, requesting permission to slap Affraiel for his offensive comments!" Vaelyn shot Evaria a humorous glance and replied, "Why don't you ask your new Squad Leader?"

Evaria decided to do just that. "Commander Trent sir, may I slap Affraiel, sir?"

"Enough of this foolishness." Ozlo said as he watched the squad squabble, it was getting too late for these kinds of things and he wanted them to get along not fighting all the time. "Learn to work together or it will be the post's for all of you and a disposing from Delta Squad. Vaelyn carry on before this gets any further."

Coming off as more upset then angry Ozlo sighed as he started to fiddle with a few button's on his key board. A map of their mission area came up as well as the last known position of the Morai troop's in that location. The map seemed to get updated every few minutes thus they had as accurate mapping as any could hope for. "As for your upper hill wish, send your Recon Unit who is part of your squad. Vaelyn sorry to make that call before consulting but it makes the most since, as for anything else report back what you find to Kora, Vaelyn or my self. We will alert Feron so he can coordinate a better plan of attack. If everything goes right you all will be back before you know it."

There are several Buttons here...

The words of Evaria and Affriel rung in Leeroy's head. He slumped against the wall, Recalling memories of... Her.
She was the nicest person he had known, And he had even asked her out. But it didn't take long for the happy memories to end.
Again and again, The image of her being shot by the morai, Bleeding out. The girl dead, He sat crying over her. And there was nothing he could do...
"No... no... Let it all end..." Leeroy said, Now falling facefirst into the ground.

Weakly, He raised his head, And realized that he was going to be sent to scout ahead soon...

Questionable events.

Dejah was thoroughly perplexed by the strange Knights' behaviours. One moment on the brink of tears, unstable and torn, the next bickering nonsensically. Or that's what it certainly sounded like.

Rooms, turtles and slapping? Just what kind of operation are they running? DEjah promptly began to question her their motives, and her position. Hopefully the Morai weren't as strange; or they could be worse.

Seating herself down next to the entrance to the garrison, she lazily eyed a vivd pink snipe, cheerfully spinning itself over to a passing stranger. It was only then that she had started to detect the altered atmosphere. Knights streaming in from the pitiful Rescue Camp and who knows where else on Cradle - or worse, in the Clockworks - filled the usually quiet and calmer Haven. There were the injured, a terrible sight to see, broken and hurt in unthinkable ways. There were the squads, much like the one she had joined, collaborating and steeped in military preparations.

Averting her eyes to the abnormally piercing blue sky, she thought to herself that if the Knights could win over favour of the Strangers, they were most likely the better side to support.

A snipe chirped nearby, a light airy, sound.

I wonder what else is up there.

The A- er.. D Team!

Solomon turned to Evaria at the request, and pondered to himself. He then shook his head solemnly to her in refusal. Not to dash her hopes too much, he gave her the remote to the Plushy Dancing Turtle. He wondered how long he could fool people with that for. He turned his attention toward the centre of the room, as Ozlo worded off a simple plan.

Solomon looked over the map that had arisen for the purpose of reviewing the scenario. Dotting his fingers around certain points of the hill, fore mentioned by Vaelyn, he snapped his fingers as he had a rush of clarity.

"Can't send recon. They'd be expecting it. This isn't just some rag-tag band of merry men. They've fought us like we've fought them. They know our tactics like we know there's. If we do our standard reconassaince for this, I assure you Leeroy will be found and captured. I can't risk that of my men...

Looks over his shoulder at Evaria, then adds as he continues.

"..or women. I suggest we try something a tad more...radical".

The Vanguard picked up a laser marker from the table's edge and began to point & wave around areas of the map, almost like a conductor. He then began to list off his points for his idea.

"The Morai are relying on two elements here: The High Ground, and Suprise. To ensure they save the latter, they'll employ sentries making patrols around the designated entry to the hill. I suggest we incapacitate one, and use their uniform as a disguise. We can give them a camera and rely on them to take photographs of their operation, and to tell us what they have heard or noticed around the camp from their own memories".

Solomon looked up from the table into each of the Officer's eyes, as well as his squad's, winking slyly as he passed Evaria. He then carried on with his talk.

"The main issues are the window of opportunity in which to grab the guard, and how to keep our disguisee off their suspiscion radar. There will be too much light exposure to do anything sneaky at day, and there'll be a good chance that they will raise the patrols at night. I propose we hit at dawn, when they will be changing shifts, and their threat of a night attack is past. The latter issue of suspiscion, Im still not sure of...".

Solomon lost himself briefly trying to think of a solution, before shaking his head, and re-focussing to list off the final words of his plan.

"When we have someone all prepared in Morai uniform and style, we will need to set a time of operation, so we know when to leave, and then when to pick up. I suggest 24 hours, since a pick-up at dawn would work from the lax patrols in that twilight zone. But I digress".

The vanguard held out his hand with all fingers outstretched, before crossing them off one by one by clenching them.

"Arrive at Dawn, Capture Morai, 24 Hour espionage mission, Pick up at following dawn, and finally report our findings to Kora from the relative safety of Bastion. Any questions?".

Affraiel is utterly amazed

[Affraiel is stunned when Solomon handed the remote control over to Evaria, who is obviously grudging over what he said earlier.]

Affraiel: *sneers* “… That is just great… now my life is in the hand of the person who hated me the most…”

Serris: *cuts into the frequency* “Second to most you mean…”

Affraiel: *laughs sarcastically* “Oh yea that is right, I forgot all about you, Serry boy…” *sees Leeroy kneeling to the ground* “… See what I mean Evaria? Feelings only hold you back.” *tabs Leeroy’s shoulder* “What happened, happened, there ain’t no nothing you could have done about it. You should be more like me, living in the present! Why end your life when you can enjoy it?!”

Solomon: "Can't send recon. They'd be expecting it. This isn't just some rag-tag band of merry men. They've fought us like we've fought them. They know our tactics like we know there's. If we do our standard reconnaissance for this, I assure you Leeroy will be found and captured. I can't risk that of my men...or women. I suggest we try something a tad more...radical.”

Affraiel: *faces Leeroy with a grin* “Did you hear that Lee? It ain’t so bad after all, your leader cares about you.” *puts out a hand gesture, signals Solomon to continue* “Tell us all about your… radical plan!”

[After Solomon finished his briefing. Affraiel felt alienated, he was expecting an all-out assault on the hill position and eliminate the Morai threat in that sector for good. But then again, Spiral Order isn’t the almighty legion that it once was, the army is stretched thin and some new tactics are required.]

Solomon: "Arrive at Dawn, Capture Morai, 24 Hour espionage mission, Pick up at following dawn, and finally report our findings to Kora from the relative safety of Bastion. Any questions?"

Affraiel: *raises his hand* “Your uncle Affraiel here just want to know what is he have to do with all this, I obviously won’t be disguising my self since…” *lightly knocks on his suit* “I ain’t getting out of this suit for a while, so what can I do for you all to make this mission easier?”

Questions?

To everyone's surprise, Vaelyn had one. "Yeah, I got a question. Can Feron pass out the personnel files now? I was pretty sure at least one or two of you were ex-Morai." Feron chuckled and obligingly passed them out. "I printed them earlier this morning," he quipped. With the personnel files now in hand, it became easier to figure out how this mission would turn out. With Leeroy as an ex-Morai, blending in with the other Morai would probably be a bit easier.

Evaria blinked a few times as she stared at Leeroy's file. "Why don't we blend the original plan into the new one? If Trent only intends to take one enemy uniform, why not give it to the one guy who used to be a Morai and even specializes in stealth?" She glanced up at Solomon, wondering if he'd been thinking the same thing.

He probably is. She glanced back at her own file.

PERSONNEL FILE 343
Name: Evaria Grantz
Sex: female
Birthdate: 07/13/2990
Hair Color: yellow
Eye Color: green
Height: 170cm
Weight: 72kg
Oaths: Spiral, Chivalric, Guardian
Penal Record: 2 cycles detention for verbal assault & battery
Date Knighted: 07/15/3008
Notes: A seasoned veteran, Evaria specializes in keeping her squad safe, namely by crushing anything that would mean to do them harm. She takes her Guardian Oath very seriously, often putting herself directly in harm's way to protect another. The woman is utterly selfless.

She is a master swordsman, and while her fighting style is visually unimpressive, a closer examination reveals complete mastery of subtlety. She invented the technique now known as the 'subtle feint,' wherein one throws off an opponent's swordsmanship by slightly altering expected movements.

Cited for verbally abusing a recon over his "lack of honor" and subsequently slapping him twice: once forehanded, once backhanded.

Wow. I was a master swordsman? Oh gosh, how I must suck now by comparison... A bead of sweat trickled down her forehead as she realized that Delta Squad was seriously underpowered with her present. I have to tell Solomon. Honor demands it. She gulped hard and put away the report.

How am I going to break it to him?

Solomon blinked in suprise. That was actually a really good compromise to his seemingly over-complicated plan. He nodded to himself, while rubbing his chin with his free hand.

"Yeah...that could work. Sending in a Morai would help make up the latter issue".

he looked over to Leeroy, and asked him.

"Are you alright with being the infiltrator? We can always find someone else if you feel you aren't up to the task".

The Vanguard pondered to himself if using reverse psychology to ensure the Recon did the role was immorale. But then again, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Solomon turned to Evaria, about to thank her about coming up with the compromise, when he noticed her looking worried as she held a Knight report.

"Evaria, is everything alright?

Contradictions...

Sitting up, Leeroy wiped away the last of his tears. "It sounds like a great idea. I'll keep my headset on so you can keep a track on me, Also, If possible, I'd like to add something to the plan. Since I am a Recon, It'd make sense for me to also map the enemy territory, So I'll need a Scouter compatible with the Morai's Technology. It'll give a live video feed, That way it's easier to carry out the plan without getting caught."

Not exactly a case of false identity.

Evaria gulped hard and shut her eyes tight. I have to tell him, I have to! She heaved a deep sigh and looked Solomon squarely in the eye. "Commander Solomon Trent, may I speak privately with you on a matter of grave importance, sir?"

He's really going to hate me after this...

Due to the large casualty during the crash of skylark and the impending Morai threat, Affraiel is forced to a parol and is secured in a new warden suit, the suit is designed to limit his movement and he will now redeem his crime by fighting for the spiral order, while carrying his prison with him.

[Affraiel picks the file up from the printer while Evaria and Solomon whispered. His past started to cought up with him. The killings, the dying cry of his friends and foes. Started to haunt him once again, Nezula, who is worried about Affraiel's mental condition, asked him some questions. He can see the fruity man circuling the roof above him, chuckling at him.]

Eugene: "Ah... you killed alot of people I see, yes, each and everyone of them yelled at you, they said 'Affraiel, you deemed not worthy of staying in this material world after all you have done.' THE SINS! SIIINS!!!"

Nezula:*shocked* "Affraiel... You killed 68 people..."

Affraiel: "... Yeah, all 68 of them, men, women and children." *tears flow down his cheek*

Nezula: *gasps* "Do you ever regret what you have done?'

Serris: *cuts into the frequency* "A men like him would probably enjoyed every second of it..."

Solomon turned to the voice that came from the new striker of his squad, Evaria. With a warm smile, he responded to her calling. Picking up on the word private, he walked over, placing his hand on her back, and led her out of the room to behind a corner in the hallway. Once he was sure they were out of ear shot, he replied.

"I hate people speaking so formally of me. Please, just call me Solomon. But anyway, what did you want to talk to me about so privately? Not a love confession I hope."

Solomon added the last part jokingy, but had prepared to add on an apology if a negative reaction was had. He sucked at socialising with girls. And he knew it.

Confessions

Evaria cringed a little when Solomon placed his hand on her back, but she chose to ignore it this time. When they had rounded the corner, Solomon said, "I hate people speaking so formally of me. Please, just call me Solomon. But anyway, what did you want to talk to me about so privately? Not a love confession I hope."

She reddened slightly. "N-no, sir. You see, I...well, uh, long story short...I'm a noob, sir. I've lost all my memories, skills and everything. Before I woke up again here on Cradle, the last thing I remembered was putting on my tech suit for the first time. So however powerful I may have been for the last five years, it's not true anymore."

She paused, wringing her hands a little. "I just thought you deserved to know," she mumbled, now staring at her feet.

Speeches like Peaches.

"Seems you misplaced that confidence too". Solomon started pacing up and down the halls, speaking outwardly toward Evaria.

"Skill's alone do not define a Knight, it is their spirit. When you landed on Cradle, you were nearly dead. Maybe you had slipped into the realms of death at some points, but you grasped onto life and held on. Afterward you could have remained with your rescuers. But instead you braved what this world threw at you, and you were victorious".

He turned on his heels, and began to pace back toward Evaria, who seemed to still look distraught and nervous.

"I've seen Knights with the Swords-play of a Child, Gunslinging ability of a Sprite, and a Bomber who once used his proto bomb as a paper weight. But I'd choose them over any other Knight because of what they did after. They didn't accept they were bad at these things, they persevered and accomplished great deeds after years of training and service to the Order".

Solomon raised Evaria's head with his finger, with a gentle motion, and looked into her eyes.

"You have a Warrior's spirit, the drive to take on the world and battle what it throws at you. We can always get you back in Master Swordsman shape, but to have that passion & soul. That's all I need to have in my squad. That's all I need for an Iron Dragon".

The Vanguard started to walk back to the Garrison, hoping no rumors had formed, before looking back over his shoulder.

"So. Are you coming?"...

Back to reality.

Many knights I knew had that same warrior's spirit. What I lack that they do not is experience. I lost five years of my life, five years that will never return.

HQ chose me for skills I no longer have. The squad will bend over backwards trying to help me, and I will drag them down with my inexperience. They will die like dogs because I was too weak to help them.

I think Solomon has a crush on me. I'm almost certain of it, and it is blinding him to the naked truth. I will help the squad to the best of my ability, but...I will never forgive myself if I ever let them die.

She had almost forgotten that Solomon had spoken to her. "Yes sir- I mean Solomon. I thank you for your words of encouragement." She forced herself to smile a little and followed him into HQ, where the remaining squad members were waiting for them.

As he walked into the room, followed by Evaria, he still got the feeling that everything wasn't smoothed out as he had hoped. Seems like it would take more than a stirring speach to convince her that potential & spirit is far more important skills in the long run.

The Vanguard sighed as he rested against the wall, nothing more to say, and let the officers say their words.

We're done here.

Evaria took her position next to Solomon and waited patiently for the commanders to provide the final orders.

Several powerful-looking knights came and went as they were reassigned to different squads. Several squads got rearranged, and one was even disbanded. When the duties were all said and done, Vaelyn finally turned back to Delta Squad.

"Okay team, you get to go out with a few buddies today. Xi Squad is coming with you, and they're not nearly as experienced as y'all are, so handle them appropriately. Just to remind you, you're attacking the hill overlooking Bastion. I'll leave it to Solomon to figure out the details. Xi Squad has already been briefed by Kora, and will be waiting for you at the Arcade. Good luck!" She saluted them and stepped out.

Evaria turned to Solomon. "I follow you, Solomon sir."

"The most likely thing to do would be to have an investigation on the hill Vaelyn. Feron, what's the best course of action aside from the one presented by Squad Delta's Leader, Solomon. Its a good idea, but I believe the risk out weights the reward in this case."

Ozlo said as he thumbed threw the notes streaming into this monitor's. It seemed every second a new idea or order or something came in from other knights. His first most concern as on the task at hand but every so often he would stop to give a order about something unseen by the other officer's. If Kora was listening to the conversation she was doing a good job of tuning the whole room out for it seemed like nothing else mattered at the moment but the plans set forth.

"Welcome back Solomon. I will be sending you're order's soon as well as your commission with a marked letter of congratulations for your new post. But for right now your part of this tactional meeting so get off the wall and start pitching in."

My mystical powers are bubbling into this world!

Groaning, Dejah stood back up, she was sick of waiting for the Knights to finish their little meeting.

First they consider getting me personal protection, now they ditch me outside their headquarters.

Thinking she would be better off just watching the Knights' progress of recuperating, she set off into Haven, idly watching the interactions between Strangers and Knights.

There's got to be something I can do, maybe establish a stronger sense of their social and economic functions.

While in Haven...

She'll notice that she gets lots of odd stares from the knights in the area. Her clothing is so unlike anything else in the knights' inventories that they're left staring while they try to figure out what the heck she's wearing.

Once they've decided that it's impossible to figure out, though, they just shake their heads and go back to their business.

A couple squads are gearing up for a sparring match. One of them is one knight short.

Sparring Match!

Both squads turned to look at her, and a few low whistles of admiration could be heard. "We're having a sparring match!" a squad leader exclaimed with a smile. "Would you like to join us ma'am? We're one man short, and could really use the extra help." He began to squirm and fidget a little, hopeful and excited that such a lovely young lady would join his squad.

Glad that the squads of Knights could easily identify the fact that she was worth a fight or too, her smile broadened.

BACK TO THE FUTURE

----Affraiel’s flash back----
Location: A slum outside the rich district of Nowensgrad, Isora’s second largest city.

[Nowensgrad was named after general Nowen, the main contributor to the defeat of Spiral Confederacy, the government which ruled the planet of Isora before the Spiral Order took over. The general was later assassinated due to treason and his death was covered up. A city named after a traitor of the spiral order, perhaps he saw through Spiral Order’s ugly side like Affraiel did and was silenced. Not many people know the truth behind General Nowen’s death, except for Qiu, Affraiel’s god father, most people considered Qiu a crazy old fool when he spilled out the truth about General Nowen’s questionable death, seriously, who would like to hear a sad story? Today, just like any other day, Affraiel goes through his daily routine, picking off garbage and left over from the neighbourhood and tries his best to keep the old man alive, Qiu did raise him while he was a baby and Affraiel knows that he will pay back Qiu’s kindness someday.]

Young Affraiel: *presents the old exiled vanguard with a dusty trash bag* “Hey dad! I brought the food back!”

Qiu: *uses his trembling old arms and picks out a piece of unfinished fish from Affraiel’s trash bag* “Thanks sonny, you did well keeping this old bone alive, there is nothing more I could have asked from you…” *nibbles on the unfinished fish*”um! Delicious!”

Young Affraiel: *sighs* “Hey, it is cool dad, I will soon be old enough to work, I will buy us a house! And everything would be okay…”

Qiu: *shakes his head and chuckles* “Sonny, you know much a house is? More than what you can afford in an eternity.” *finishes the fish and tosses away the bones* “What you really wanted to do with your life, is to break out of the system… this system, that the spiral order putted in, has caused too much suffering… the strong becomes vanguards and the weak are left behind to die… there is no justice in Isora… you have to bring it back…” *coughs* *coughs* “Before I die… promise me… that you will bring down Spiral Order and their system with your own hand…”

Young Affraiel: *determined yet afraid* “But, how? I am just one boy…”

Qiu: *chuckles* “The Spiral Order may have broken my bone and torn my flesh, but they could never silence my ever beating heart. I now pass on my pulse to you, so your heart can beat with the same passion. I never had any children of my own, you are all that I have left…” *coughs, his condition is getting worse* “It is okay, Sonny, I am nothing more than a dead weight to your right now…”

Young Affraiel: *tears filled his eye* “Dad…”

Qiu: *lays down in the alley of the slum* “My time has come…” *realizes that he needs to say something before his final hour* “The one who killed your parents… is…” *dies*

[Two days later, in a grass field outside the Nowensgrad’s country side. Affraiel carried Qiu’s body, wrapped in rags and ploughed a hole beneath a large tree with a makeshift shovel, Affraiel puts Qiu’s body into the grave and refilled it with dirt. Affraiel knows that this is Qiu’s final wish, to die next to nature, returning into her embrace after a whole life of struggle, his body is now one with her, each single atoms in his body re-assimilated into the earth, this is how Qiu wanted it to end, dying next to the person he loved the most, second to Affraiel, the nature…]

Young Affraiel: *feels the wind eerily blows through his skin, a sour taste to his mouth* “I guess…This is goodbye dad…” *looks around the grassy field, the grass flows with the rhythm of the wind* “Is this why you never got married? This nature… is she your wife? Do you love nature?” *sighs and left the grassy field, returning to the city of Nowensgrad*

[With the death of Qiu, Affraiel never got the closure he wanted, why did Qiu wanted to be buried next to a grassfield anyway? Can one truly fall in love with nature? Did he hated the spiral order for their pollution to the wild? Or perhaps he only felt alive when fighting beneath the bright blue sky…]

One woman extra!

The knights of Iota Squad cheered at the introduction of strong, lovely lady to their team. Lambda Squad, while disappointed, was a good sport about it, and they bowed in acceptance.

Iota Squad leader turned to Dejah. "My name's Milner, James Milner. What shall I call you, ma'am?"

"You knights seem not to cease in your mannerly dispositions. I'm Dejah Thoris of Almire," she replied daintily. "But pleasantries aside, let's begin!"

The Knights seemed a noble race, but they had yet to reveal much into their fighting style. From what little Dejah had witnessed, they seemed to possess a respectable level skill, however.

Adjusting her grip over her sword, she was eager to get a personal evaluation of their capabilities.

Almirians? Woot!

Milner let out a low whistle. An Almirian? You gotta be kidding me! As the game was about to begin, he couldn't dwell on the matter much longer. They entered the Arena together, and both teams bowed to each other before the match began. The referee started the countdown.

"Five!"
"Four!"
"Three!"
"Two!"
"One!" Milner tensed up.
"Go!" And the match was on! Almost immediately, an opposing knight swung his troika at Dejah.

Milner brandished his Combuster and rushed at the enemy commander (named Germaine). Their blades clashed and parted furiously. Germaine twirled his Glacius and took another swing at Milner. It glanced off with a resounding *clang*. Unwilling to lose the initiative, he immediately attempted a follow-up attack from the other direction. But Milner didn't let him have that chance. He fired off an uppercut that forced his opponent to stop and block, putting him on the defensive.

They forced their swords apart and glared at each other. "You're going down, Milner," Germaine sneered. Milner scoffed and retorted, "Then I'm taking you with me." They both knew it was friendly smack-talk, and smirked at each other before going at it again.

Unrealistically large weaponry? Woot!

Sweeping to the side effortlessly, Dejah took the innate slowness of such a large weapon to lunge forward. Dejah eyed the weapon cautiously, for such sheer size and force would not be easily parried by her more refined blade.

It felt liberating to get in a good duel.

Gracefully circumventing the Knight, she swatted at his legs in an attempt to encumber him further. Dashing back, she hesitated for a moment, surveying for any other possible threats, before going back in. By targeting his arms next, she could facilely disable the knight. Her speed was truly debilitating to her opponents.

The armor hissed as the auto-repair functions kicked in. The knight cursed his luck and stepped away from her in order to give himself more space to react. Then he brought down his troika in a powerful overhead swing to knock her down with the explosion.

Iota Squad leader

James fiented forwards, trying to bait Germaine. His opponent saw through the act, and slashed downwards at the other leader. James raised his Combuster at a slant and the icy sword slammed against the ground. Taking initiative, James stepped forwards and rammed his shoulder into Germaine's chest. Germaine backpedalled to regain his balance, and looked up. James sheathed his Combusted and took out his Nitronome. James felt it click and lobbed it at Germaine. The bomb arced across the battlefield and collided into the raised shield of the enemy team's leader, creating the signature white explosion.

Germaine lowered his shield to see James sprinting at him with his Combuster raised. He swung his Glacius around to parry the blow and felt the impact jarr his arm. He retreated a few steps, and glanced around for help. His teammates were all busy fighting due to the new addition. He frowned, and swung another blow at the Iota squad leader.

James easily parried the attack, and stabbed forwards. Bringing himself closer to his foe. He parried an overhead swing and kicked out, sending his opponent hitting the dust. James grinned, "Going down am I? Think again."

Problem is that I can only control one character...

Dejah's eyes locked onto the oncoming mass, and kicked off her feet, leaping over the Troika. Rotating with the momentum, she flipped, spiralling over the knight. As she landed, she swept her blade back instantly, narrowly skinning the side of the knights head. Her arm held above her head mid-swing came crashing down, as she swivelled around the Knight's left side, coming down hard on the hilt of the Troika in a smooth motion.

A flash of flame lit up the air where her blade had connected, directly in front of the knight's face, indadvertedly dazzling him.

Without stopping, Dejah continued the flow, arcing the Flamberge over the Knights head and behind her. The blade revolved in her hand as she brought it back, gaining speed. There was a thud as the hilt slammed into the back of the Knight's knees, knocking him clean over.

Following through, Dejah lunged forward, spinning herself and her sword back, before ending the motion with the tip of the crimson red metal poised above the Knight's head.

The flash back! THE MEMES!

----Affraiel’s flash back----
Location: Nowensgrad, city central food rationing station

[A queue is lined up outside the station as the homeless are eager to get their share of the warm soup. Nowensgrad’s winter is a cruel mistress, the temperature fell all the way to -10 Celsius, Affraiel, who is already as the age of 20, still unable to find a job due to his violent nature also lined up at the end of the long queue. He let many, who are weaker than him to pass, many praised him and run to the head of the queue. But suddenly, the rationing station is closed down by two Spiral Vanguards.]

Vanguard A: *takes a evict paper out of his pocket* “This station will be permanently closed! Now move along, you rascals!”

Vanguard B: *faces the rationing station owner* “What are you doing, giving the food Spiral order gave you away to these cretins!?

Owner: *trembles* “Are you hearing yourself?! They are starving in the winter for Haven sake! Who is going to feed them?!”

Vanguard A: “Their wellbeing is their own problem! This is the spiral order’s rule, if you don’t work, you die!”

Affraiel: *walks over to the vanguards, tabs one of them in the shoulder* “So what are you two doing here, minding other people’s business? Shouldn’t you two boys be doing your missions?”

Vanguards: *backs off, slightly intimidated by Affraiel’s size* “Who the hell are you?!”

Affraiel: *chuckles* “Oh, nothing, I am just another rascals in this little slum of yours…” *looks at the owner* “You did a good job keeping the folks here alive, keep up the good work” *smiles*

Vanguard A: *enrages* “Hey, we said that this station is CLOSED, end of story” *draws his sword* “Now, disappear, you rascal!”

[Affraiel charges into vanguard A’s flank and breaks his wrist, he seizes the vanguard’s sword and slashes vanguard B in the throat. Instantly killing the man. Vanguard A tries to flee with a broken wrist, but Affraiel did not spare any mercy, he picks up a hard rock and stoned the fallen vanguard. He smashes his skull with a brutal bash and tosses the rock into a spiral order’s banner, hanging high on a closed bank in the middle of the slum. The banner falls to ground, left in the dust. Affraiel knows that this is his chance, to have his revenge…]

Affraiel: *picks up the vanguard’s swords, he yells at the frightened denizens of the slum* “People! Those who suffered under the spiral order! It is time for our revenge!”

Denizens: *frightened* “…”

Affraiel: *angered by their inactions* “Have we not suffered enough?! We have starved for far too long! We can end this, we can end our suffering! Right here!”

???: *yells* “Stop!”

Affraiel: “?!”

[Affraiel traces the female voice all the way at the end of a large alley. Filled with gothic mist, a female knight walks out of the white void, like an angel, she strolls slowly through the winter snow. The snow flake settled on her grey silvery hair. She has a large pony tail, dangling side by side on her red azure guardian cape. Her large dichromic eyes stares stilly at Affraiel, one of them is black and the other is grey. Affraiel, didn’t know what to do, instantly draws his hostility towards her, seeing that she is wearing azure guardian armour.]

Affraiel: *dual wields the tempered caliburs, points at the mysterious woman* “Another vanguard walking into her own doom?! This is not your town woman! Go back to the rich district, you don’t belong here!”

Mysterious Woman:*blinks her eyes, tilts her lips, covered in wrinkles* “…Why, why does it has to be this way? Rich and poor? Life and death? Cold and warmth?”

Affraiel: *poses intimidatingly at the woman, who is actually taller than himself* “Who are you?! You ain’t nothing like the other vanguards!”

Mysterious woman: *sighs* “I am Penumbra, the leader of the grey guards, the Nowensgrad’s elite knights…”

Affraiel: *chuckles* “Grey guards huh? Nowensgrad’s elite, let’s see just how ‘elite’ you are…”

Penumbra: *draws her leviathan blade* “… Does it always has to be this way? In a fight?”

Affraiel: *yells at Penumbra, who is much older than him* “Just shut up and fight!”

Awesome Mod Powers Activated

Solomon, Evaria, Leeroy, and Affraiel stepped out of HQ to find two squads sparring with each other in Haven's town square. There, in the midst of the fight, was none other than Dejah Thoris, who had just defeated a powerfully-built knight with her rapier.

Evaria raised an eyebrow. Sparring, huh? Not a bad way to pass the time. She glanced at Solomon and shook her head. I would rather not spar with him. I'll just make myself look like an idiot.
