I’m trying a new collaborative experiment for my ۞ The Dragon Princess ۞ Chronicles stories.

Since this is my first time with this sort of thing, I’d like to invite some of the currently active writers to join me in this endeavor:

If any of you would rather not participate, that’s perfectly alright, no hard feelings. Just let me know and I’ll invite someone else. There is no pressure to contribute daily but a few times a week of any length at least would be nice.

I’m hoping that 3 writers will join me in crafting an adventure story in which our characters interact. This means that each writer has permission to write actions and dialog for the other writers’ characters. If someone writes something that you feel totally violates your character, let them know and suggest an edit in the discussion thread that will accompany the story thread.

After the entire story is finished, I will compile and edit a version of the story to include in my Chronicles canon.

Here is the background for the story.

Alchemizing is a big part of our game world. We can alchemize minerals into sprite food and materials in weapons. Punch (a gremlin) can add unique variants to our weapons and Krogmo (a fiend) will redeem coins in exchange for trinkets and recipes for more weapons. But these are not the only source of additional powers for Spiral Knights. The Spiral Order recently discovered that, in fact, each of the other four kinds of monsters also has potential contributions that they could make to increase our power.
What are these additional potential abilities? Where can they be found? And how can they be accessed and utilized?

The story will proceed in parts as I reveal each stage of our mission. Once one part of the mission has been completed, I will reveal the next part for us to accomplish. I may throw in some surprise twists along the way (a devious grin slowly spreads across her face).

Please tell us your character’s name and gender, and describe your character’s personality along with physical strengths and weaknesses, favored weapons, and any special speech characteristics he/she might have.

Character Name: I usually have other characters refer to her with her title - Dragon Princess. Friends may use her name – Mawashimono – or just “Mawa”.

Personality: Fiery (a bit short-tempered), a resourceful leader and tactician, romantic, doesn’t usually crack jokes. At times her bravery and independence gets her into trouble requiring her to be saved by a teammate.

Physical: Short and agile, average speed, below average strength, above average endurance/resistance/defense. Can spit fire and use dragon tail.

Weapons: As the founder and Guild Master of the Lionheart guild, she is the sole-possessor of a mystically-enhanced Lionheart Honor Blade. She prefers the Argent Peacemaker as a gun. Her helm, armor and shield are Dragon line.

After I have descriptions, I’ll make the first post in the story thread and we’ll go from there ~ ♥

You have effectively godmodded your self before the story even begin. And also, we need more details on this 'mission' of yours, and yes, like dark said, where is the conflict, who is there in our way?

The story sounds really cool, as in the specific aspects, but I must reinforce Darkwatch's question, what exactly makes the story a story?

EDIT: The problem could be as simple as finding the other things you mentioned that could improve the Knights' power.

@Midnight, how is it godmoding? In Naruto, of course the dude can't die, but at the same time, the story revolves around him, but we can still fear for his safety.

Mean by Godmodding, I was trying pointing out the fact that Mawa has made her character overpowered. Just like how Naruto gets a layer of plot armor in the story(all those times that he should have died...and why is Sakura still alive, SHE IS USLELESS AND IRRELEVENT TO THE PLOT!!!), coz he can't die without bring the entire story to the grave along with him.

Here it is the same, how can this be "The Dragon Princess " chronicle, without the 'dragon princess' being the pivot of the whole story? We are pretty much back up actors, or white knights who shield her from a deadily blow. I just see no point of RP if someone has already put themself above all the other characters in the story.

Edit: I see no point worrying about Naruto's safety, it is kind of already cleared from the first few episodes that he is kinda destined to be the hokage, and everyone along the way (jiraya, Kakashi and pain and a bunch of other people) are reinforcing and confirming this profecy. Now all I have to do is sit around and wait to see if Kishimoto(the writter) can come up with a way to end the Ninja war (lol)

Personality: rational, even-tempered, quick-thinking, polite, cynical, secretly romantic, likes to smoke his Volcanic Pipe

Often called a "Witch Hunter" by both friends and foes alike, Astran "Thinslayer" Valderis is renowned for bringing down righteous judgment upon those who practice the dark arts. His trusted friend and strongest weapon, Aurora (a Divine Avenger), is a type of "soulblade," a weapon imbued with the power of a resident spirit. Her edge is strong enough on its own to rip through even the toughest armor, but with the power of a spirit inside her, not even the Fallen stand a chance against her elemental might. She is the finest weapon in Astran's arsenal, and probably the smartest too.

In ranged combat, he prefers the use of Justice Hammer, a Callahan-type weapon whose silver bullets are granted the ability to destroy magic circuits, permanently disabling an opponent's magical powers and preventing them from ever again being used.

When delivering dark justice upon his foes, he almost always resorts to using his Obsidian Carbine, a devastating weapon that sends tentacles from the Underworld to rip into his opponents and tear them to shreds. Astran signed a contract with the Swarm that permits it to use the bullets to infect and consume any enemies they touch. Hence, he only fires this weapon upon those who deserve only the strongest condemnation.

His most devastating weapon, however, is the Obsidian Crusher. It creates a vortex to the Underworld and shoots out tentacles to pull opponents into it, dooming them forever. Only on the wickedest, most vile of fiends, murderers, and sinners does he ever use this bomb.

For most other ranged engagements, Astran uses his Valiance. It is a trusty weapon that has served him well over the years, and he takes good care of it like it was his own child.

As the title would in insist. She was forgotten, by the years of the world turning and people trudging head like the passage of time was nothing more then a second thought. For years she waited, inside the many lairs of the Clockworks, for something to catch her eye, not really wanting anything for she knows enough of the Spiral order that it is a darker place then under ground. In those forgotten worlds where people and be free show who they really are. Even the call of her own kind has become but a distant memory for her since she last parted or wanted to be seen. Using the guise of many others who are but shadow's of who they clame to be. Could Thanatos' be blamed for wanting to have fun with Knights? After all they where more fun the hunt and play with then the creature's she normally stocked.

In the dark, their are monsters, things that when disturbed turn to anger to calm themselfs down. It is in this mind Thanatos' has found a since of salvation from the ever dreams that seem almost too real. It was in these dreams she found something, a world full of darkness and souls that floated as if they had lost their way. It was in this madness Thanatos' saw it, a obelisk that could make her a suit able to hide her away from the world and help keep her from going even farther in to the darkness herself. Yet, as much as she tried to avoid going to such a dark place the forgotten knight found it was turning to be more fitting for her to go then it was to stay. It was there she found the weirdest thing she could thing of, and yet made it out alive with what she seeked.

Slowly she made her way back to the surface, hiding as her sight became split over three spots. Still holding hope that she would be welcomed back after such a trip but her hope died once she returned to see the world she once knew to be so different. With a angry roar she dashed away to the hall which she called home with in the halls of the Guild's. A Room just for her as she sits on a empty throne that rules but one soul, the soul of her own.

The screams and cries of a condemned soul faded away into the careless gusts of the eastern winds. A polished Valiance quickly disappeared into a brown leather holster, the barrel still cool and the bayonet unbloodied. The kill had been easy.

Almost too easy.

To end a life is far simpler than to save one, Astran mused as he inhaled the pleasant aroma of Warp Dust through his Volcanic Pipe. If only the reverse were true... Bitter tears welled up in his eyes when his thoughts wandered back to- No, perish the thought. They are gone now. Nothing can bring them back. He glanced back at the man he just killed. Was it possible to save him?

He shook his head. Too far gone. He fished around in his pocket until he found a small piece of paper, which he unfolded and stared at intently. Looks like my next target is...

...the Dragon Princess?

Doubt it, bit hopes can be high. I suppose it will only matter in the end. But then again, nothing else matters in the end for the end was always destanted to be. Everything that has, will, and shall be where stated the moment you made the choice. So answer me this, soothsayer does the dream we see at the end represent that that has been, that that which can be? No know for its not for us to decide but for us to ride along and find out who lies.

That is not the definition of god-modding, from what you're complaining about. Of course, she's going to be (more often than not, judging from her own chapters) centralized since the plot is driven by her own exploits, but if Mawa can play her character as a person with legitimate weaknesses in physicality and personality, perhaps a loss of a supportive character or a struggle will result in a good story.

Well, I'm going to be playing this as a test to see if she can do that, but that doesn't mean she can't be brutal and an uncaring character. I just want to see that the personality she described in her app would match with the one she is going to play, and that she develops upon that by the end of this RP.

And seriously, Midnight, this would be a good chance for you to learn how to play as as weaker supporting character. I've only seen under ten people successfully pull off that role, such as Hexlash's Sapphire, one of Thinslayer's Gwenyvier incarnations, Liminori's characters, and perhaps maybe three or four more. You're not one of them.

By allowing other players to take lead roles, supporting players don't have to pressure themselves into being some generic trope character, and it builds skill for creating realistic, quirky characters. If you learn how to "reciprocate" the spotlight, or evade it entirely, then you don't have to force yourself to play a stiff character that isn't you.

In fact, all my characters are inspired by people around me and myself. Roleplaying becomes a fun experience when these characters that closely resemble the people I know in real life and in other types of media interact with an entirely different world.

So unless you really insist on continuing to play the generic "hero" character, join and see what it's like not to be struggling for power and attention. Learn how to accept weaknesses and injuries, and develop your character not by what you want them to be by the end of the game, but instead develop them from past mistakes they have made.

Also, because you misinterpreted, Mawa's character can spit fire balls, and use her tail as a whip. Correct the above post, please.

Name : Vin "Antworker" Valentine (Yes Thin, I'm tying your lore into this)

Personality: As with any young man his age, Vin is likened to an adolescent chimpanzee. Curious to and about others he is, he often finds himself being called weird for...well, for no actual reason, really. While he does enjoy running around in the sunshine with his friends (not to mention a good fist-fight on occasion), more often than not, he longs to be indoors, reading and absorbing knowledge. He isn't very intelligent, but his thinking is unorthodox, which has saved his hide more often than not in the past.

He is often very honest with people he confides in, even to the point of telling them too much, but it's only in the effort of reinforcing his trust in others. Because he trusts people with his own information, he often makes it a bad habit to keep that trust regardless of what they've done...

...well, until he finds out for himself.

To people he hasn't at least acquainted himself with, he often has a keen eye for. Daily habits, good or bad, will bring an impression (an outrageously exaggerated one, but an impression nonetheless) upon him.

Physical:

Vin's a somewhat small boy, weighing in at only 105 lb. and reaching a mere 5'4. He has an androgynous look to him, and his neck-length hair often gets people outright confused on his gender. Like most Knights, he's of a pale complexion from the lack of direct exposure to a real UV-light source, something that the artificial sun of Cradle cannot supply.

His eyes are a brilliant blue, and they are accentuated by his Frost Glasses.

He excels in no physical parameters, but he does not lack severely in any field either. The only exception if weight-lifting, in which he often can carry double, and sometimes triple, his weight.

Weapons:

Vin wields a Warmaster Rocket Hammer as his primary weapon, as his lack of strong legs has to be compensated.

He uses a Polaris when in the need to clear a floor quickly, either to completely wipe out a level, or to create some breathing room to run away.

In order to compensate for the lack of strength in his arms, he carries a Snarbolax Shield to complement his Hammer.

In order to compensate for his general sub-par strength, he dons the Snarbolax Coat to build a decent defense and a very powerful offensive capaability.

He wears a Grey Feather Cowl, however, as it is "easier to see" with them.

Bio :

-Over time, he'll reveal his entire (lore) past with some character interaction.

-He is related to one of Thinslayer's characters as a cousin twice-removed.

-He's known as "Anty" or "Antworker" in the Lionheart guild, and is one of it's older veterans. He is also the same young man who inspired Mawashimono to create the Lionheart Pledge, much of it being answers to his questions.

Personality: Wes is friendly and likes to make conversation, won't ask too many questions. Observant, due to being a Gunslinger, he can spot small differences. Doesn't take offense easily, easygoing. Has researched a lot about Cradle and its inhabitants, due to his like of reading. Isn't noticed a lot by other Knights because he looks young.

History: Because he was short for his age, and he was never really involved in anything important, he never was noticed by anyone. Wes honed his skill in handling guns, and when reports of the Apocrean realm spread through Haven, he was the one of the first knights to explore it. Eventually crafting his own Obsidian Carbine, which he treasures greatly. He doesn't ask for attention, just to be noticed for once in his life. His Nova Driver was his first weapon, given to him as a Prismatech, and he holds it dear. Wes can aim so the when the bullets richochet, they deal the most damage possible. But the downside is, he is so used to having his bullets ricochet that he sometime's forgets that his Carbine won't do the same.

Generic hero? What is that, I never wanted to be a hero to begin with, perfect beings do not exist and I have no intensions of being one, I pray to no one nor would I be prayed to. And incase you didn't read the story on the skylark fall RP, the person I am playing is this hedonistic, warmongering and rebellious crimminal, does that sound like good guy to you? The first thing he asked for after he crashed is a dirty magazine. He, Aka Affraiel, is the manifestation of my own desire for pleasures and freedom, both he is lacking in. (and Aradama(thin's reborn fanfic) is probably my hateful desire to kill everyone on Earth...)

Okay, that is a fair point, I can accept that, but I do tend to make my characters OP so when they beat equally as OP enemies, you can feel all more satisfying for their accomplishments.

Wow, what an exciting response!

I'm checking this on my lunch break at work, and I'm very happy and apprecaitive with your responses.

Hex, we still need a description from you, or did you say you'd rather not practicipate?

As for the other applicants, I'm not sure I can work in more than four on a regular basis as we're going to go off on an adventure, but if I need someone to die in order to show the gravity of the situation, I'll let you in (hahaha).

A few points of clarification.

None of the 4 main characters are going to die (well, not permanently anyway). Hope that doesn't spoil things for you.

My character will not be any more central than any other character. She'll only be central in the parts I write, just as the other writers' characters will be central in the parts they write.

Me - the real life me - will be directing the plot in an adaptive manner. I have ideas for trail markers along the journey, but I'll adapt the story to the collaboration. I'll be setting up the scenes with objectives, and you'll be writing about how your and our characters go about achieving those objectives.

My first story post will play into Thin-Slayer's and provide you with your first objective, which I'll state more clearly here.

Oh, the story will revolve around those three questions in my original post. It will be an vital mission of discovery, fraught with dangers and life-threatening perils as we seek answers and abilites that will forever alter our world.

I can only fit 4 totally players into this story, so I chose the ones I know best. This is my first role-play and I suspect it's going to be quite different from what you guys are used to. Perhaps if I do this again, I can find a way to include more players. In the meantime, anyone is free to create their own role-playing story, ネ。

And while I'm waiting for the part 1 contributions, here is . . .

Part 2 – You will each be sent to speak with a NPC and gather a secret, vital piece of information. The nature of the information will be sent to you by in-game mail. You will reveal that information in your writing. If your in-game name is different from your forum name, please let me know.

I am going to be kind and rewind.

Look, take it the right way (No one ever says that). When we saw this was to be a RP we expected a free for all come and join. Reading down a little bit, you made a RP much like the one Thinslayer is hosting currently. The difference being you let them make there characters. You still had the limited number of 'applications', in this case it was not applications so much as player 'slots'. I can respect you for wanting to keep the fouces on the main idea, I just have the feeling this is going to deture readers is all.

My words are like salt, take them one grain at a time and you will see that it is not all bitter.

No, stating something else, by now you have stopped reading, I suppose it makes since that since this is your first RP hosting it would make since going with people who fit the type of writing style you like/understand. And now you want to ban me from the internet. Yet I have the feeling when you make a second one you will be a little more open to this side of the Community. For this is what makes is that Community, the group who comes together to dictate stories and have fun together. That salts starting to sink in quick get me some sugar! But as stated, I can respect your choices.

Wow, I just realized, an American from the Southeast of the USA, RESPECTING anothers choice's...It seems some of the Southerner's have changed...Who am I kidding, we have deep seeded hates and drink our brains out...

Okay, besides that...

She did say she was looking for 3 writers to participate with her. That meant slots were limited. That, in no way, means that she doesn't respect the accepted writers any more than the writers that weren't accepted. Like she said, it is her first time hosting an RP, and she only wants to choose roleplayers she knows best from her point of view. Not that the rest are incompetent, but hey, I had preferences too when it came to an audience for my own fanfictions and roleplays.

Not being accepted in a roleplay does not necessarily mean that you are incompetent. I've been rejected before on other sites in many more disrespectful ways, and it's because the host was quick to judge and quick to condemn. And in this case, it's the rejected applicants that are quick to judge and condemn the host.

I personally would not like to have to explain and say sorry for both sides, but since our roleplayers are over-reacting, I will have to say sorry to Mawashimono for this misconduct.

I'm re-using the Sapphire (the poor girl) because she didn't get to really have a good run. This Sapphire is a older than the other one, with skills intact, but her personality is based on what Vinny said.

Character Name: Sapphire

Personality: She's quiet and doesn't speak much. Being soft-spoken, she's also not a good leader, often just listening obediently to others. Since the events of Thinslayer's extremely short RP, she has trained herself to prevent situations where she is completely powerless. However, she trained herself less in combat, than she did in more supportive skills. Thus Sapphire knows healing arts and is proficiently skilled with guns. She's a fairly pleasant person to hang around with in general.

Physical: Sapphire is dainty, and almost as agile as Mawa. Her small quick hands allow her to perform medical duties well, and allows her to aim lighter guns with ease. She's not very strong at all.

Weapons: She possess Valkyrie Mail and a Divine Veil. She uses two Argent Peacemakers, but prefers to use only one. She also has a Fierce Flamberge, both as a close range weapon, and a medical tool; don't question her medical practises :D.

@Malkalack, I'm going to be honest. I'm sorry you're frustrated, I want to help, but I can't. All I can do is ask you: what would make you feel better? Do you want Mawa to apologize? Well, that's up to her. Do you want to participate in the 'RP'? Why not just make your own? Do you want recognition for your Writing abilities? Just look to all your Fan fic supporters! This is a flat-out overreaction. He's basically criticizing this novel concept called a "game master."

Here, he complains about a non-existent problem. "Overpowered" is a very relative term; sure, in the standard game, Mawa would be overpowered, but in a game where demigods are common, she would be quite underpowered. All the characters here should be about as strong as the Dragon Princess, so she cannot be considered overpowered. Hence, Midnight overreacted.

Here, a player simply wasn't accepted, and he treats it like an uncommon event. Overreaction.

Wow,sorry about that

I thnk Malkalack is a fine writer and I've sadi so in one of his threads, and I was considering him for this story, but he makes it hard to get along sometimes.

Also, in my questions about role-playing thread, I asked if it would be rude to choose three people and was assured it would not be.

Finally, I never opened it up to everyone or asked for applications, I very clearly invited three writers whom I knew and could depend on to join me.

I did not reject anyone - I simply could not accomodate more than three for this kind of role play.

Apologies once again, and I hope you enjoy the story.

Thanks! Your story post looked pretty good too. Bechamel came off as sort of a slimy, effeminate character; was that intentional? If so, it was brilliantly done, I'd say.
