I'm not a fan of PVP, and never was, from all the time i've been a player, from Warcraft, Ragnarok Online, Diablo 2, League of Legends, and so many others. And i'm not a fan of PVP in Spiral Knights.

But competition myst be encourajed: just defeating vana again and again doesn't prove much of your worth. So now this is a new PVP mode.
This game consists of a race where two teams would have to rush for the prize, facing monsters and traps. Only those who get there first will get the booty.

TEAM MODE

- Step One -

Players are assigned to two random teams.
The teams start in two corridors, either in opposite sides or side by side. There is a time to prepare and the gates are open.

- Step Two -

The players then must rush to the end of the corridor. As they progress, monsters spawn, there are traps on the way, depending on the theme of the map – spikes, fire – and other obstacles, such as simple buttons or switches.

- Step Three -

At the very end of the corridor, there are two open gates leading to two party buttons, one for each team. Every living member of the team must step on the party button. This will cause the gates to close for the enemy team, and a new gate to open for the wining team, which leads the prize.

FREE FOR ALL

All players start in the same corridor. They must do all they can to reach the end of the race, either ignoring the enemies or fighting them, working with the puzzles, (such as double gates, which would have a switch to open one while closing other, so you can cross the gate and leave it closed for the ones behind you) and only the first to arrive will get the prize.

3X3

This grants classes similar to lockdown.

- The Fighter
- The Spy
- The Technician

The fighter would have to fight its way through the monsters and defend the team members.

The spy can fight and turn invisible to reach dificult switches. Also would be able to dash to the enemy side, in specific points, in order to hit switches, press buttons and ruin their day. He can be killed though.

The technician would be able to bypass some obstacles, such as opening optional gates that would lead to shortcuts, disabling really annoying long spike lines, and so on.

5X5

This would require new classes and a high level of team coordination:

- The Defender
- The Striker
- The Scout
- The Technician
- The Support

The defender would have a large shield and would carry the responsibility to keep his team mates safe. He could block damage when they can’t move, protect them while they perform their jobs, shield bump enemies away from his friends.

The Striker has no shield, but has a high potential to take down monsters and turrets.

The Scout can turn invisible. This would make monsters ignore him and also would grant him immunity to spikes and several traps. He could also be able to cross walls in certain points (not to the enemy side). This will make him able to observe ahead of the team and offer guidance.

The Technician could again open gates and disable traps and turrets.

The Support would have special abilities to help team mates, such as being able to heal negative status and heal nearby allies.

This can extend to be a short run, in free for all, to a 10 minute team/ mind working game.

Bonus Ideas

- At certain points, pressure plates can be offered, so one player from each team can step on them to allow both teams to fight each other.
- As you might have guessed, monsters are not supposed to drop loots. They can, however, drop hearts and vials.
- The ultimate reward would be the krogmo point. But treasure boxes are welcome.
- As it’s being suggested, players could have ALL equips given, including weapons. This would be even more needed for the support and technician roles.

Thanks for reading!

"Challenge Mode
In addition to the exciting features we have planned for the Arcade and Rank Missions, we're busy working on an all-new 'challenge mode' that will allow players to work as a team in cooperative scenarios and compete with other teams for a high score. Challenge mode will also feature rewards for those that really excel."

So, it's kinda planned. who knows if it'll ever happen though.
