I have a suggestion for Kataclysmic Confrontation DLC:
Instead of making us grind for TWO books per ONE 5-star item (seriously), make them more affordable!
My suggestion for the DLC:
1. Make it purchase-able, infinite even when you feel like playing it. Levels the playing field and makes everyone able to get their black book of Kat science.
2. No more book. Yes, you got that right - the book is out of existence.
3. DLC features 3-4 levels, for example - candlestick levels, followed by a boss battle, followed by a shadow lair end level (with the black thingy), followed by something like sanctuary - a place where you can craft Kat items, or exchange tokens.
4. Tier 1 rewards: only 3-5 ancient pages at the end of the run. Tier 2 reward: 1 ancient page from Black Kats, 3-5 pages for the boss. Tier 3 reward: 3 pages per black kat, 1 x Book of Dark Rituals. Bound. Cannot be traded. Complete DLC 6 times to get 6 books to get 6 wiskers per 1 armor at 5-star level. There you go - some grinding.
5. DLC book doesn't give you Black Kat Cowl, you have to craft it from 3-star item. And you have to get Kat fetishes from ancient pages, and wicked wiskers for defeating Margel.
The benefit of this DLC: players who did not receive a Book of Dark Rituals during these infinitely long events will have a chance to enjoy the game at their own pace.
The downside of giving a shortcut for these items: anything you craft within DLC is not tradeable. Token items are also non-tradeable. You get the DLC for your own benefit only. This will allow players to spend $$ on the game and support it without having to spend hundreds of dollars for a book (lets face it: there won't be many players who'll buy $100 energy several times in a row just to get a book or two).
Now, explanation to "you need 2 books" thing:
If you want a Black Kat Raiment, you need no less than two books. Why: you need 1+2+3=6 wiskers to craft final level of armor. This means, if there are 4 players in the party, so you get 4 wiskers. This means, you can make cloak with one wisker and trade the other 3 slots for 3 margel fight invites (if books weren't as rare). With 3 more invites you get 4 wiskers bound to you. You buy cloak, saving one wisker. You spend 2 more to upgrade cloak to 4-star item. And you still need 1 more wisker (2 if you crafted cloak instead of buying it) to make 5-star Black Kat Raiment!
A bad design. Such is my opinion.
Please post your opinions here.
Best idea I've seen for a bit of a while. In fact (and now that you mention it), instead of wasting their time stuffing cash-only gear into the prize boxes -- while at the same time detaching the boxes themselves from their energy sales promotions (for no good reason whatsoever, I might add) -- in order to "convince" players to spend more money, what they SHOULD do is add all of the non-holiday events (Shroud of the Apocrea/Kataclysmic Confrontation/March of the Tortodrones/whatever else they decide to come up with in order to turn the game into even more of a grindfest) to the DLC page, and charge a varied fee (similar to Operation: Crimson Hammer or slightly lower) for the permanent purchase & unlocking/activation of each individual "mission pack". >_> <_< >_>
