One-Bar

After contemplating long and hard we formed an official top 50 ranked players in Spiral Knights with 1Bar. The List is made by players for players. The current List is based on feedback from the community so obviously not all ranks are correct 'yet'. When fights move along and the strong players keep winning The List will gradually shape into the actual rankings. -Contri

Rules:

-Players must have 1Bar or Weak 2Bars. (Latency must be more than 200ms)
-If you want to take someone's rank you have to beat them best 5 out of 9 in a 1v1 in the US server.
-You can't use AT in the 1v1.
-If someone is caught using AT (or having AT/toggle) he/she will be banned from The List.
-All the 1v1 must have at least 1 judge(2 judges are recommended).
-Only the list holders can be judges.
-If you've "challenged" someone in the list and you've lost, you must pay the player 2000 crowns.
-The player who has been "challenged" and lost will not pay the 2000 crowns.
-If you wanna join one of the lists you must challenge and beat the #20 or below.
-You can challenge the players that are 2 ranks above you.
-If you wanna make a challenge you must send a mail to a list holder and to the player that you wanna challenge or post his challenge here.
-Be sure to type in the date of the challenge and time (GTM +8).
-You can join the 2 rankings with the same account, but you can't use more than 1 account for each ranking.
-You can use all the map outside the base and all the stuff that is there (snowballs, traps, healthpads...)
-Only the 2 players and the listholders can be in the game.
-Some rules can be modified if the list holders agree.

Nice rankings you got there. You could at least put down a scaffold list so it can go somewhere. After all, it doesn't have to be perfect.

When I've played PvE with Stromrage he's mentioned that his connection is highly instable. Might explain his 4 bar in the screenshot. How ever I don't think you should be able to participate because you have a lame internet provider.

He says that his net is ALWAYS 1 bar. This proves it otherwise. And yes, he should not be able to participate just cause his net(according to him) drops to 1 bar every now and then(if that's the case sign me up for this please cause even my net drops down to 1 bar once in a while lol)

Just a shot in the dark here, but I think all clients drop from normal down to 1 bar once in a while ever since the ever so needed downtime.

Why exclude the Africans and Latin Americans? I'm sure they both are able to get 1 bars in some ways. Besides, there are middle-eastern players who get more than 1 bar on Eu, I'm quite sure.

Question, am l allowed to drop a bomb without moving as the countdown begins? Or at least, charge a bomb and not drop it till the judge says go? Because if not, and l have to wait till someone says go, well then l'll most likely never get to drop a bomb since strikers will just swarm in, and thus l'm forced to play as just a sword guardian, which l'm not, l'm a bomber guardian.

Your ping isn't exactly determined solely by your position on the globe. It could be just that a person who has awful net but lives nearby has 1 bar. This list is just discriminating others.

My Opinion

Regarding players who do not live Asia, Australia or New Zealand: You are allowed to join the rankings as long as you have proof of your consistent 1 bar (we want to make this as fair as possible). This can include linking your screenshots via your steam profile or through video.

Currently, this ranking is focused on the Asian/Australian/New Zealand players, so naturally we would have list holders in those timezones. However, if say, many African players want to participate then an appropriate list holder for that timezone will be found. Until then, we'll stick to the current list holders.

Dovis also mentioned how some US players may have 1 bar due to crappy ISP (or cloudy days or whatever), they WILL NOT be able to join unless they have significant proof of a consistent 1 bar.

Proof of consistent 1 bar is hard to do with just screenshots, cherry picking of screenshots, even multiple screenshots can be decieving. It would be more reliable to see a several minute video.

agreed , a several minute video would proof that it is a consistent 1 bar and not just a 1 minute( or shorter) 1 bar and it jumps back up to 3 or 4 bar. for example : when someone's connection suddenly drops to 1 bar , they could have took a screenshot of it and after a while it goes back up , therefore a video would be better than a screenshot

Host should make it clear that it's specifically people with one bar connections only, not people from whatever countries, some people who live in countries that should have one bar can still get more than one bar, as someone just told me, l'll leave it up to them to reveal themselves. Also l think we should actually do a check on the existing players already on the list that they actually have 1 bar, because l was in a few matches with Proer today and dude was landing 'this player does not have a 1 bar' kind of hits on me. I actually thought he had a 3 bar while l was playing him.

Two ways:
We can be flexible, that is, we can find a suitable time where both players can log on and play.

They will understand that the timezone differences are too significant and gracefully step aside.

I highly doubt it will ever come to option number 2, but I would just like to point out that it isn't fair to exclude people from playing just because they don't live down the road.

I think before any 1v1's happen you guys should..confirm all your information and decide what you want the rules to be, l was just told this was not actually a 1 bar challenge but more of a 'Australia/Asia/New Zealand' challenge, then l was told 'no wait, it's going to be a 1 bar challenge, people who aren't 1 bar are going to be removed'. Also, not everyone on the list on the post is actually a one bar, l'm pretty sure l remember Seithennin having quite a good connection.

Even a short video wouldn't be relyiable. the player can just start a downloading and record while downloading, he can easily create onr bar for the moment . For me the only suitable proofs would be to show multiples screenshot from the past that is to say from the time the player was not aware of the tournament or any kind of suspicion regarding their consistent 1 bar.
he can also record a whole game and perform with consistent 1 bar a score better than his average in term of cap def and dmg.

I don t believe that consistent 1 bar is possible in continents such as north america or europe. Except maybe, if you live with a large apount of people, ina community that draws your whole connexion.

Anyways, bars are not always trustable. I have 4 bars with my new box and I clearly have more than 100 ms latency these days.

With my former box, I had 3 or 2 bars and had a lower latency .

@Fayeth i do have 1 bar actually its just not the really laggy kind its usually only latency which i can cope with, i just get 1 bar because i live in singapore although i do get 2 bars for a couple seconds sometimes, the 4 bars are just fake and only come when im walking or doing nothing lmao p.s. im pretty good at aiming valiance with 1 bar lol
