Hide log on function

Ughh...

I'd kill for a hide log-on function. Not a permeant hide online status function, but one that either

A) Gave like a 5 minute warm up before it announced i had logged on.
B) -and probably better- I now appear online via peoples friend's list, but there is now "ROMMIL HAS LOGGED ON" announcement.

I get tired of endlessly receiving 5-10 messages every time i log in, before i have even had a chance to enter the ready-room, let alone have time to load delay from ready room to haven.

I like the game for the social aspect, really i do. But i'd like to be able to log in without being bombarded with a million /tell before i've even had time to think. Its overwhelming, and i'd kill for some sort of user interface that allowed for me to thwart this a bit. Something better than just "ignore them" which makes me a jerk.

And before someone suggests the two most obvious answers, i've done both.

1. /away and make a message. People still talk to me, and warp to me, and see that i'm not REALLY away, and now i'm once again faced with being a jerk, or getting sucked into conversations that I'm not yet ready to have. (or tell them, 'hey yo, give me 15 mins then i got time for you.' which is what i do, but its still annoying.)

2. I have told nearly all my friends "hey, give me some time before you start talking to me, or warping to me, i've usually got some house-keeping i need to take care of ahead of time." This proves preciously ineffective, as most people are like, yeah i understand, but don't really change their actions much, at least not over the long haul.

so please, just give me one of the above options. Either my status doesn't update for a set delay (4 to 10 mins) then it announces i have arrived, OR (and again better) that it simply doesn't announce to the world i have arrived. If they actively check, they''ll that rommil has evidently logged in at some point, b/c before he was not on, and now he is.

tl;dr
Let me take announcements off. I don't want to announce to every friend on my list that ROMMIL HAS LOGGED ON. And then i get 20 messages before i reach ready room.

inb4 lugi comes in to posit his condescending useless "no, just no" comment. Once again, adding nothing to the suggestions forum.

you are right

i shouldn't let it get to me. But your posting style and "critiquing" efforts are incredibly condescending the VAST MAJORITY of every person you speak to. You come off as incredibly condescending and self-aggrandizing, not as intellectual and inquisitive. It is a bit hypocritical i grant you, that i point this out in trollish fashion...given that i'm criticizing you for being so trollish.

But it bothers me the way you conduct yourself in the suggestions, and the lack of fellowship you show your fellow suggesters. So I figured you could use some of your own medicine.

It is not your job to tell someone their idea is bad. Sometimes they are decent suggestions, or good starting point for discussion. Other times they are, outright, bad ideas. Neither scenario requires, deserves, or is in any way in need of your belligerent stamp of disapproval. If the idea is in its infancy, there may be hope. If the idea is bad, well, it'll die right quick and doesn't need you mocking anyone for suggesting it. Or, in many cases, the idea is a legitimate suggestion and merely one you didn't like, in which case you act like your opinion is GOD and dismiss an idea summarily.

It is these actions that have led to my disdain for your conduct as i have witnessed it on these suggestion forums.

~~ sorry i went troll on you, instead of taking the time to point out your somewhat regrettable behavior in a more constructive and solutions orientated manner. That was my bad.

"That was my bad"

Great, you care. Great, you see where I am wrong and/or misreading. What are you going to do about it? Spam nonsense and whine? My writing tone shows how resentful of incompetence I am so no one wants to be friendly. Why? If everyone likes me they are prone to mindlessly agree with whatever I throw out there. Yes, most threads created in this forum are either very poorly thought out and/or can be summarized in one phrase: "I want this because I want it". What are you going to do about it? What have I been doing about it? Most of the other users ignore them while the newer and/or less competent users bump their own threads while threads in construction with competent users are beaten down until they are forgotten. I have been distracted by Wakfu recently which may influence the thoroughness of my posts.

Take this thread for example:
"How about an individual theme for each boss? The Snarbolax's could be creepy, giving the impression of an animal on the hunt. The Roarmulus Twins' could be more technological with lots of mechanical sound in the background. The JK's could be more lighthearted and regal, but changes to a faster paced, more... actiony song after the crown breaks, and Vanaduke's could stay the same with a couple of improvements. The same theme for all 4 when there's only four of them is a bit... boring and uninspired."

"I want more music."

Yes, this helps exceptionally in creating new content; I am being sarcastic for those who missed it. My response was the following.

"You want different music? Make it."

And then we play the waiting game until something happens.
And then you reply with the following.

"you truly add nothing to the suggestions forums."

And then I chuckle a little because I was not being spiteful in that thread yet. If the original poster turned around and replied "no you do it" then I would start to respond in a negative tone. Hurr.

Now we move onto our second piece of evidence:
Just as the title says: I think it would be a neat feature if, after a certain amount of play (like after defeating the Roarmulus Twins or getting to Emberlight), players could make Emberlight Gremlin characters, or maybe even play as evil Gremlins in a sort of PvP. I dunno, just a wacky idea I wanted to throw out there, 'cause I think everyone agrees that the Gremlins are one of the more interesting parts of the Spiral Knights setting...

"Playable gremlins."

I remembered dealing with a similar request in this thread, which I linked on my response to the newer thread. Do not be afraid to click links I give. I will never link a jump scare or inappropriate content. Not even if a cactus in my closet asks me to.

Edit your spam responses out and I will forgive you. Whether anyone else will is up to them.

I'm guessing you mean "appear as offline", right?

+1 if so, some pocket lint if not.

@ sylvanius

yes and no.
I don't think an "appear as offline" would be beneficial to the game. Too many of us (and i say us because i would too) would end up just being forever "offline" out of laziness. I think this would greatly hurt the social aspect of the game.

Thats why i was focusing on the announcement portion of this "rommil has logged on," and purposing either it was on a 5 min delay to announce (then the barrage of messages would come, but i'd have time to do my rommil things before that), or that i could just turn that announcement "rommil has logged on" completely off, and it wouldn't update my friends list and guild mates that logged on, just now, just this second.

So, you'd still appear online if i was like, hmm...wonder if my buddy sylvanius is online *Checks* hey he/she is. But someone would have to be actively looking for you, rather than that "rommil has logged on" announcement thats basically like notifying everyone "hey you can now start whispering at rommil!!"
