Both are really useful in FSC, and I need a brandish that inflicts a status (I already have Fireburst, but slags don't catch on fire, taking away half the damage). Which is better for FSC? If they are both on par, which is a better sword overall in the Clockworks? Iceburst always freezes monsters, taking away knockback, but can help teammates using autoguns or charges. Shockburst shocks monsters, and sometimes(?) takes away knockback. I don't know which one to get... I like doing IMF runs, so Iceburst seems to be the better, but does Shockburst do extra damage or something? One of my friends uses his Voltedge for FSC runs and really enjoys it, but my other friend uses his Glacius and says that it's better than a Voltedge, that the Voltedge is overrated just because you can only get it by playing PVP games a lot, kind of like a trophy weapon rather than a viable weapon... Is this true? I like the fact that Voltedge shocks, but is it useful? If it is, I can just use other weapons against Quicksilvers and craft a Shockburst, but if it isn't, I'd rather not waste hard-earned money on crafting it..
Shockburst or Iceburst?

Iceburst because I'm biased and there is a slight de-synergy from shock breaking a shiver's freeze.
But really, flip a coin. it doesn't matter.

so many threads
There have been so many threads on this topic. For example, there's one on the front page of the Arsenal forum right now: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/61018. You can get a wealth of information by searching the forums.
My own view is here. For FSC, and for everywhere else, I prefer the fire version. Your assertion that immunity to fire takes away half of the damage is false.

This is my take on the issue and on every other possible issue you could ever have; specifically see Brandishes vs Brandishes vs Brandishes under Elemental.
