Bring back the Super Brawl Crown and the Sleep Status effect?

I was unsure where to put this, so I figured here would be a good spot.

I've been playing over a year now, a bit lazily though there were some things I had heard were removed when they were only ever released in Beta servers, back when those seemed to pop up every month or so.

The first I had heard of being the Super Brawl Crown. A special cosmetic helmet that was to be released at the same time with Blast Network. he current wiki page > http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Super_Brawl_Crown explains how the item would have worked, though what confused people was why it was deleted. People wore the Royal Jelly Crown to make "Royal" outfits, even more now that Shadow Lairs exist and the Ice Queen Crown was made, but staying on track with when this Super Brawl Crown was made...

Rumors went around, supposedly information from players that played in the Beta Servers at that time that had assisted in testing the Blast Network mode saying that the item was removed simply do to an increase of hacking. People cheating simply to boost their scores to try and earn the helmet in any way they could. And for those who may not realize. Boosting is a form of cheating, as its abusing the design of the game to quicken your progress through it (Which is not the same as Grinding)

Something I had always wondered is why this item was never attempted to return, or even what the reason was it for being canceled in the first place. It could have been simply obtainable like some bombmasks. Just having to pay a high enough amount of tokens to get it, if the score idea made the crown too exclusive

The second thing was something I actually only realized recently. An entire 5 floor dungeon called "Starlight Cradle" was tested in Beta servers and revolved around the unusual status effect, sleep. It basically used odd slimes that could inflict the sleep status effect, which for those that have actually thrown sleep vials, CAN (but doesn't mean it always will) trap/stun a monster better then actually stunning or freezing the beast. Though at the same time it causes a VERY slow regen to the effected target.
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Lichen#Sloom
So on top of maybe reviving the new idea (Even though it's kinda old when looked at when originally brought to the public), bring back the sleep status effect. From where the status effect stands now it actually seems to be good. Having items that could actually inflict and protect from sleep would be a nice idea.

Sleep was the only status effect thats seems to have been almost completely removed. Aside from the vials and weakness to sleep on platerarmor. I even remember when a number of enemies could actually inflict sleep. Though all I remember exactly was that there was a version of the bat, that instead of it being stun or poison or something nasty. it ends up being a bat with sleep. Which at the time, I had personally found harder to be then then any of the other monsters at the time, because sleep was, and still is, a rather unusual effect

Of overall, I guess I'm asking for some sort of return for the lost status effect, Sleep, and the cosmetic Helmet, The Super Brawl Crown.

What does everyone else think on these things?
And I want to apologize now if these things were already discussed somewhere on the forums because if there is, I was unable to find it

Unable to find it is because it's hardly brought up, save for the Super Brawl thing.

Personally, I haven' tried Superbrawl, but from what I've heard, and seen in LD, Superbrawl is no real contest. The weapon with the highest damage per second (Hey, I just realized, is that was dps stands for?) wins the match, as long as the user can point it in the right direction.

As for Starlight Cradle, it sounds like an interesting field of battle, although I don't know how OP sleep can be. In theory, having your opponent sleep while you beat them with a stick is a very effective way to kill something (I used Tranq darts and my fists on Maximum Strength in Crysis, works just as well), but considering you're the person being beaten with a stick, I'm not entirely sure how Sleep would work.

I suppose the mechanic could be made as to 'sleep when inflicted, wake when it either wears off of you take damage', but I don't know enough to comment deeper than that.

In any case, -1 for Superbrawl, +0.5 for Starlight. So far.

Complete immobilization and

Complete immobilization and the fact that people considered sleep to be a more useless form of Freeze are why sleep was taken out of the game. Even Freeze allowed you to defend yourself; sleep forced you into a state of complete immobility, and you'd either have to wait it off or get hit a sufficient amount of times to wake up.

As for the Super Brawl Crown, that was introduced in Beta along with Super Brawl. As you've already heard, Super Brawl was even MORE imbalanced than the horrifically imbalanced Lockdown, and the crown was removed along with it. The crown's still in the game files, like everything else that was removed, so many we'll see of it again sometime!

Well that's why I'm asking for a return of the helmet. The Super Brawl mode doesn't HAVE to be returned with it. It could simply be made into an expensive, purchasable item. Kinda like the bombheads for sale from Sullivan, the Coliseum Rewards Supervisor, only even more expensive. As the item still would be a reward, it wouldn't be as limited and would help encourage more people to play Lockdown and Blast Network again

I can easily understand Super Brawl being rather unbalanced worse the Lockdown. As it sounds like it was basically a Domination mode. Which, personally, sounds like it can still be rather interested despite being unbalanced.
(Then again, simply making UVs useless in PVP would likely fix that problem as everyone would simply be forced to use the same quality weapons. No special increased stats unless you have the armor to do so.)

And on the topic of Sleep actually being Overpowered. Ok I can actually agree with that a bit. Back when that bat, a Greaver, had a sleep variation of it (Little sad it didn't make it into the wiki) I remember always running away from them, because they could really kick the crap out of you.
Though what if the status was changed to something more like Sleepwalking?
Sleepwalking, unlike simply sleeping, would imply you still have the ability to defend yourself. Maybe something odd like being forced to walk in whatever direction you were looking in when effected. You'd still be able to shield yourself, if you were to walk into environmental traps and monsters. But still be something bad enough that you want to avoid.

I do recall seeing two unused

I do recall seeing two unused status icons in the game files, one seems like something you're mentioning here.
Instead of reworking sleep into the game, maybe you should just create a new status and call it something new.

Well, even then, the Super Brawl Crown doesn't really match any armors we have; maybe if they made a set to go with it, that'd be fantastic.

A good lore-wise reason for it's disappearance would be King Krogmo; look at his crown. Seem familiar? HOHOHO

I have never heard anything about Sleep Greavers, nor do the game files have anything that resembles a Sleep Greaveer, with the exception of one skin that MIIIIIIGHT have been used.

My personal complaint with sleep is that it completely renders your helpless; most people don't like being helpless. Even a player that's frozen can shield at the very least. Your idea is definitely a bit different from what we have in the game thus far, but what the Devs do with it is up to them, ultimately.

"I do recall seeing two unused status icons in the game files, one seems like something you're mentioning here."

The other was 'doom'. My guess: an eventual player-side attack status for a weapon with a small chance of inflicting it. Inflicted monster dies within a few seconds of being inflicted.

Either that, or an enemy inflicted with 'doom' status will die upon getting hit with the inflicting weapon.

Idk. I also found what looks like a demonic ice version of the CIC in the Calibur files, but I hear no such mention of the blade anywhere since the year ago I found it.

A demonic ice version of the Calibur line? Is it possible you could post the icon at all, if you still have it?

And I had always thought the Doom status was effect recon classes can players in PVP and the annoying Ghostmane Stalker.

Sleep would probably induce

Sleep would probably induce some kinda drowsiness, as some kind of visually impairing element, like, the screen shifting about, or being obfuscated in some manner. Since you're sleeping, it'd also be fair that you regenerate a little bit of HP during a 'sleeping' state.

I never saw the icon, just an image of the weapon itself. If you have Spiralspy, you can check it out. it should be fairly easy to find, if it's still there.

But me posting the image is akin to spoilers, so I'd prefer not.

I'm all for the SBC coming back. I never got it, but it would be neat. A bombhead is worth 150 coins, so what about 350 for the crown?

Also, sleep was once suggested by someone. He said there would be a 3 second drowsy period. While this period is happening, you can't attack. Once it runs out, you fall asleep. You could cure drowsiness before it happens by using a cure pill. He also said, rather healing, your defense would raise by about three-fourths. This would negate the next free hit your enemy gets on you, but you could still get hit. He also said that you should wake up in the same ways as when you thaw from ice. (Getting hit, having an ally hit you, or having the timer run out.) He also mentioned that after waking up, you should have a 2 second alert period, making you immune to sleep. (So you can't get sleep chained.)

If something like that was done, then sleep wouldn't be OP and could be re-added.

Someone mentioned two icons for statuses. Those where Muddle and Doom. My speculation was that Muddle prevented any attacks, and Doom insta-killed you when it ran out. (Actually, in the fan game, CradleBound, I'm planning on using both Muddle and Doom. Doom being a must-finish-before-this-time mechanic and Muddle being a mute or silence for spells. Spells? Not really magic. Something more futuristic. ;) If you are going to discuss CradleBound, don't do it here. Do it over at the Treasure Vault thread.)

Wait, did I just mention my game in the suggestions forum? SIlly me!

I wasn't going to mention the name because that's a spoiler lol, but w/e.

I did a thread on a bunch of equipment that was missing from the game but was evident in the files:

That frost blade was existent in the promotional video, but was absent from the preview version.

I always supsected muddle messes up your direction, like a "confused" state where all your directional keys are scrambled, or your mouse facing is rotated by several degrees and possibly inverted.

Super brawl was fun. I was absolutely horrible at it, but what else is new.

I have to say that the tier one super brawl was the best. Because going at each other in proto gear was so fun. The scoring was sort of like how blast network was done.

I would like to point out that blast network was not in beta. It wasn't released until after the game was out. So the superbrawl crown has nothing to do with blast network.

I suggested that guild be able to do something like super brawl in their training hall a while back. I still think we should be able to do that. It would be fun.

How to re-add the brawl crown

How about the brawl crown is given to players who reach #1 on the global PvP board at some point? Then it could be particularly special.

I actually didn't know that. I would have played in these beta servers, but Steam accounts couldn't connect correctly (and I believe still don't).

It would still be great though for them to revive that idea. Even if it was just a Lockdown variation. And the crown could be done like how Team Fortress 2 now does three special hats; "Gifting Man From Gifting Land", "Philateler", "Dueler" which are three One-day-only hats that are earned for being the best (Or simply highest) in a single day in three categories. And that each "counter" for these categories reset everyday. The crown could be done in the same way. The top player in a single day(Or week like originally) for Lockdown, Blast Network, and Super Brawl

Beta wasn't available to

Beta wasn't available to steam players then. Steam didn't come until like june or july.

I would love to see the crown come back but not for lockdown.
