I think the energy system sucks, at least for joining parties and elevators. It makes no sense and it keeps you from playing, so you need to buy energy if you want to craft, revive, or EVEN PLAY.
Energy system- Does anyone think it sucks (at least, for elevators and joining parties)?
Many people have complained about the energy system before you. Many people have said that the crafting requirements are fine, but the elevators are not, and vice-versa.
The truth is that CE prices are low enough (and have been since the introduction of missions) that anyone with access to the Sovereign Slime or Built to Destroy can live in a positive feedback loop, where they earn crowns faster than they spend energy. In other words, any mid-level or better player can play the game for unlimited time, if they want.
Unlimited free game play? To me this seems extremely generous. Thanks, Three Rings!
Oh god, I can't play the game for free! Whatever shall I do?
The energy system is an amazing way to build a free to play game. People who don't want to spend money on the game can buy CE from other players, and access every part of the game. OOO still indirectly profits due to the fact that all of the CE in the game was at one point purchased by a player.
I think the complainer system sucks, at least for making good threads and arguments. It makes no sense and it keeps you from having a good day in forums, so you need to read their post, reply, then wait for them retaliate? .
No Forum Avatar, Energy Thread, & no explanation of how to change it.
This is going to end well.
The system does have it's flaws but ti's been working for 2 years.
If it was a total failure like some people claim we wouldn't be here.
perfectly balanced system that make people slow down on random use of elevator and farming (othewise everyone would have millions) making the game run smoothly and balancing the economy between casual and hardcore player since both of them are limited to 10 level a day (unless you have elevator pass >w<)
@Little-Juances
spiral knight is older than 2 years .. its only been on steam for 2 years
Sorry, Spiral Knights haven't reached its 2 year steam anniversary. If you include beta, spiral knights is in fact 2 years old, but that excludes alpha, before the idea was even generated.
It's another reason why player activity is dead in other contents of this game.
this game work fine see hes perfectly healthy just look at ...
oh god

Yeah right, you get unlimited access to the same two levels (and depending on the price of ce you might be limited to play the first two levels only). Awesome...Do you know how boring that is? It's a good way to make cr for beginners but in no way is it an enjoyable experience. Not that I've a problem with energy anyway but this argument is straight silly.
The-Frying-Pan, I agree that grinding RJP and IMF is tedious, but those were just two examples. You can often achieve positive feedback in graveyards, and obviously in FSC. You can achieve enough positive feedback that you can also mix in some more interesting but non-profiting levels, and still play forever. So yes, you can play forever as a free player, with some diversity in play. Considering that you don't want to play forever (I hope you have other things in your life), this game's offering of free play is extremely generous.
As a business perspective --- Well The Ce system is working well like you said it forces the inpatient players to use real money!!
As a greedy player who wants everything for free --- This system sucks!
@Bopp
I was speaking for beginners, once you are more advanced, you get more options, still not that much though, second stratums graveyards and arenas, while very profitable indeed, are heavily linked with your patience or your luck with gates rotation. Frankly I don't get the crowns reward policy in this game, the disproportion between the few profitable levels and non-profitables ones are such that for people who are relying on exploration to get crowns, they're forced to grind the same three levels. Especially since the missions were introduced...why keeping the crowns so low on the first stratums? Some levels even in second stratums are still paying twice less than others? I don't think balancing the pay-out would hurt the game in any way, it would just enhance variety. Obviously there is a mismanagement here, pretty archaic system that should be revisited now in consideration of the many changes that occured.
But I agree the F2P approach overall is pretty good compared to other games.
Nice argument, give a thumbs up /sarcasm.
I mean seriously --> Better Argument Here
