Rodric scribbled ravenously in his book, pages and pages of failed experiments and notes scattered on the floor around him. Candles burned weakly in his study, while an rusty old record player sung a tune that was both elegant, but psychotic.

"Day 3," Rodric whispered. "The subject has shown signs of extreme paranoia and mental state is deteriorating." He dipped his quill into the ink well, and continued.

"True-Fear is perfected, and soon I shall test it for use by myself." He put down his quill and sighed, twiddling a bloody scalpel in is thumbs and humming. Then Caesar entered, interrupting Rodric's chain of thought.

"Knock, you buffoon. I was thinking." Rodric scowled. Caesar sneered.

"Well, I guess you don't have time for the Father's wishes, do you?" Caesar retorted. Rodric spluttered, then sat.

"Apologies." Rodric said. "Tell me what the Father has to say."

"He says that a most auspicious discovery has been made, he requires your presence at once."

"Very well, tell him I'm on my way." Rodric stood up, scattering more paper everywhere. He took an ebony case, something that resembled a violin case, and walked out the door.

Kora stood by a console, searching for a signal. Finally, a knight's face popped up on screen.

"Did the shipment of weapons make it?" Kora inquired. The knight nodded.

"The Gremlin technology helped us make some very powerful weapons, ma'am." The knight reported. "Who did you want to send this to again?"

"Will Soran and his team, as well as commander Aekun and Commander MechTeka, thank you."

"Will do." The knight saluted, and the message blinked out.

As Will and his team sat in the briefing room with the two commanders, a group of knights carrying packages.

"Will Soran?" One of them asked. Will got up and nodded.

"This is another shipment of weapons from Kora, she says you'll need it for wherever you're going." They took the weapons, and headed down the elevator.

They arrived at Depth 29, a very old and unused part of it. Vines hung from the ceiling, and there was little light coming from the dim and flickering lamps.They looked around aimlessly in the dark.

"What are we looking for exactly?" MechTeka asked. Eve was feeling around a wall that looked newer than its surroundings.

"It's here somewhere..." Eve said. "I can't seem to..aha!" A loud click bounced off the walls, and a secret door opened, looking out upon a vast cavern. Light was coming from the bottom of the abyss.

"The path is clear now, and my friend's footsteps aren't the only ones here..." Eve said, examining the hall. "Come on, lets go." She led the group down the hallway. What they saw was unbelievable.

A huge, yet abandoned city was below them. Towers and fortresses that were probably proud in their formers days were now dark and decrepit. Vine encrusted statues of arcane figures stood out in the sea of abandoned buildings. It was a reflection of what was once great, but no longer was.

"By the Core..." Will whispered. "What is this place..." The faint clinking of boots echoed in the distance, interrupting their awe and curiosity.

"Something else is here..." Will said. "Stay vigilant for any hostiles." The team primed their new weapons, and walked into the silent city.

"Disciple Drace, we have detected a group of intruders at the west gate." Said a cultist. "Orders?"

Drace took out her spyglass and gazed out at the west gate, her eyes following Will and his team descending the staircase into the city. She turned back to the cultists and the others behind him.

"Bring them back alive." She said, in a voice that was void of humanity. "Rodric is in need for sacrifices."

"As you wish." The cultist said. The group vanished in a haze of black vapor, leaving Drace alone in the tower.

"Hey Drace!" A cheerful voice said behind her. A sharp bolt of pain clouded her mind. She turned around, to see a knight. He wore a red flak jacket and helm, a bolted vee on his helmet. A proto crest shined on his shoulder.

"No. Not you." Drace murmured. "I don't want to talk to you right now." The knight laughed.

"Aww c'mon." The knight said. "No warm welcomes for your old buddy Mec-" The knight was silenced when Caesar walked up next to Drace.

"Who're you talking to?" He asked.

"Nobody..."

The knight was gone.

Will crept down the dark street, their footsteps echoing in the hollow halls of the city. Suddenly, three figures materialized at the end of the street. Eve and Nick aimed their guns, while Doomskull, Aekun, and MechTeka put their swords out.

The three figures just stood there like statues, eerily frozen in place.

"I say we go and get 'em," Doomskull said. "See who they-" A sleep dart embedded itself in his neck, and he instantly hit the ground, unconscious. Will turned back to the three figures, who were now gone.

Will instantly whipped around to block a sword attack that would have cut his arm off. He shoved his attacker back, and fired several times into his chest, killing him. The two remaining attackers were joined by three more, descending from the rooftops. MechTeka swung his new sword, leaving a trail of dark magic behind it. It slashed one of the cultists across the chest, and his eyes leaked purple liquid, sending him screaming in madness.

The other cultists were falling back, their numbers thinning. Nick shot the cultists in the legs, immobilizing them. He was about to finish them off, when Will stopped him.

"We need them alive for information." Nick put away his gun, and Will turned to the hooded knights.

"Who are you?" He asked. "Why did you try to kill us?"

The hooded knight hissed.

"I'll never talk." He seethed. Will crossed his arms.

"Very well." Will said. "You won't be going anywhere, so we're going to call the Spiral Order to pick you up. Then we'll see if your will is as unbreakable as it is."

The cultist spat, and Eve took out her comm unit. There was no connection.

Rodric kneelt before the obsidian throne, shrouded in shadow.

"What is it you wish of me, O exalted one?"

A voice with the weight of centuries, and seemed to be an extension of evil itself, replied:

"We have been discovered." The Father said. "That is correct, hmm?"

"Yes, but we now have her in captivity and testing the new weapons on her."

"Well, she was followed." The Father stated. Rodric's eyes widened.

"Impossible, the passage was too well-" The father put up an armored hand, and Rodric stopped.

"Go and find them. And bring them here." He ordered.

"As you wish, O exalted one."

Rodric got up, and exited the throne room.

"Hmmm..." Will thought, and pondered. "Two of you, go back up and bring back reinforcements."

Eve nodded.

"Who goes back?"
