Suggestion: Create NPC to Buy Minerals

OOO just completely removed the "Miner" achievements for everyone who had not earned them before the update that removed mineral depositing from the game. This has understandable angered some players who are upset they cannot earn all of the achievements.

It seems to me that the simplest solution would be for OOO to simply add an NPC to buy minerals from the players.

For years, there was an NPC (I've forgotten his/her name) who stood in the Arcade and directed players to deposit minerals. Simply put him/her back and put him in charge of buying minerals off of players.

- It would allow all players to get the mining achievements

- It would give some (though not much) immediate monetary value to the minerals we collect -- something that could really help the newer players

- It would allow the "deposit" of minerals without tying them to gate creation

He's still in the game, his name is Wegner and you can talk to him in rank 3-1 on mission Minerals Rock!

Hmmm

I don't like the idea of just selling minerals for cr, sure i used to do that any ways but I affected the the gates at least. Maybe suggest some sort of purpose like activating secret elevator hidden in the clock works.

Other Ideas can also be found here

@ Amnimonus: Thanks for your post! Other ideas can be found at this thread for what could be done to make these achievements not broken and still serve a purpose -- I truly believe that game developers can come up with a *creative* idea on how to let us "deposit" minerals that both fulfills the achievement as well as serves some sort of purpose in the game, besides just selling them. In any case, we're just trying to make SK not be another broken Steam game.

keep up the + :D

thanks for all who have shown their support in OOO taking the time to figure out how to "fix" the broken achievements that are now part of the SK/Steam world.

please keep voicing yourself here and let OOO know we want a fully-functioning game!

Not broken, they're obsolete. The damage values of Acherons are 'broken,' but achievements that are unattainable are simply 'obsolete.'

obsoletely broken

Mushy -- thanks! The difference between the two makes sense to me and I've read through all of the (now-locked) thread about "Achievement Handling".

(found here: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/97780#comment-881403)

At this time, as the achievements that are unattainable are now considered "obsolete", my vote is to simply delete them from Steam.

If in the future, as the game progresses and changes and evolves, if other achievements become obsolete that are also connected with Steam, they can be deleted as well. I think it's a neat feature that SK can still keep them in-game, and perhaps this will be how OOO handles adding new achievements that may be added to the game in the future (instead of connecting them to Steam). I don't think Valve/Steam will offer a different option besides hiding/deleting obsolete achieves, but it'd be pretty neat if they did, as there are lots of games on Steam that could use a third option, not just SK.

I appreciate everyone's time and thoughts and interest in this *tiny* facet of the game at hand.

Just..

...freaking delete the 'Steam' miner achievements and show the achievements in-game hidden for the people who don't have it unlocked. I'm mainly with Headhonchoburnside.

Requested Updates By Community

This is somewhat of an aside, but I'm wondering -- is there a thread in the suggestions section that keeps a running log of the suggestions that have been put forth? Where players can get a basic overview and feel for what has already been suggested and how much players want or don't want something? Thanks!

gods ain't gonna help you, son.

@ above: it would be useless, and it would take a massive amount of work. useless because it would be good only for the newbies in the suggestion section, aka newbies in the forums that don't read threads and jump directly to the "start new thread" button. failing your audience= fail thread.
if you want something pretty much massive on what has been suggested, I may direct you to node 53120. wall of text pre-warning. don't say I didn't pre-warn you.
