As some of you know, some information was posted by the Spiral Knights dev about upcoming updates recently. They said that there will be added more missions regarding the 'artifact' and even more missions after Vanguard, the storyline will progress even further, an 'Antagonist' will be added, and there will be a new boss in Tier 3 after Vanaduke.
So, what do you guys think the new boss will be? So far the families with a boss are Beast, Slime, Construct and Undead (I'm counting Vanaduke as undead because of his backstory and the number of undead zombies in the citadel). That leaves only Gremlins and Fiends.
My guess is a Gremlin, or more precise, King Tinkinzar, the supposed creator of the clockworks.
I also believe that the recent news regarding the Tortodrone bodies will be connected to him. The developers have already confirmed their return, which leads me to believe they are connected to this new boss, Tinkinzar or not.

Upcoming Tier 3 boss.
Technically, Vanaduke's help-tip-thing says that he's a fiend. And this is reflected by his classification on the wiki page "Monster". Of course, he's affected by neither fiend nor undead bonuses.
There has been a lot of speculation on new bosses over the years, and recently this thread discussed the announced Antagonist, new boss, etc. Maybe something said there will interest you.
Tinkizar shouldn't appear before taking the Crimson Order.
And altought we haven't seen him in person, we know he exists. Nick say it'd be a 'new' antagonist.

Anyways, Vanaduke is a fiend. It's because when you turn on Auto-Target, Vanaduke will be displayed as a "fiend". It's also because dealing piercing damage against Vanaduke is powerful.

There are tortodrone bodies everywhere and a tortodrone is too weak to be a tier 3 boss.
We already have a Gremlin boss in OCH, but I see where this is going. BTW Nick said the boss will take up the events following the FSC, so expect a lot of fire... Again.
BTW: Tinkinzar doesn't sound like the one who would mutate Vana and give him lava powers... Vog maybe? TKZ might be a "Final" final boss for a future update like 1-3 years from now. If not the "Swarm Core"
That's not what I'm reading at all tweeter. Why do you think following the events of FSC = more FSC? I would expect totally NOT fire. Far from fire actually. If it is next in the story and the next tier 3 instance I would expect a large change in setting, sort of the difference between jelly palace and IMF.

Since the game revolves around YOU, (remember the starting missions) the gate will probably open for you in 10-1 and you can explore the core and finally battle the Alpha Squad.

Even though I still think 100% it's Alpha Squad, Vog is a good idea.
But if you read about vog, it says he was the god of fire, but he was graceful.
Why would he hurt us? Unless he was possessed like Vanaduke and the swarm bosses.

Vog mutated the kingdom of almire into his fiery playground. We messed with his domain and he's also the kind of fiery god to mess with us Spiral Knights. It makes a whole ton of sense, but I'd rather not face a Vog so soon, if at all, simply because there are plenty of other enemies to face.
If you mess around with SpiralSpy, it kinda becomes obvious who the new boss is.
Previously I though it was the collector but he was kinda dumb.
Theres another monster with Stages attack and his stage attack are pretty hardcore. As in Tier 3 attacks. Too much firepower to be a mini-boss but enough to be an entirely new boss.
Verdict: If I know who it is, players are gonna love it.
There's one interesting gremlin and something weird on the collector files, we'll need more elemental defense I guess.

Gremlin/Fiend Poison Strata confirmed?
Seeing how the tortodrones are gonna be ressurected, it's probably gonna be a tortomega with tortodrones around it. Or Maybe there will be a gremlin version of the tortodrone. I imagine a gauntlet with a tortodrone at the end. A good gremlin boss could be an engineer that makes a tortomega but... he needed the help of the devilites. They could be planning to invade haven with tortodrones and tortomegas. You thwart there plans halfway, but several tortodrones get out. So at the end you fight waves of tortodrones and constructs and fiends and gremlins until you face and take down two huge tortomegas. After the first one dies, it explodes which causes debris to fall down. The place is coming down. The initial explosion is enough to automatically kill you if too close. The debris coming down is deadly but shadows of where the debris is falling is shown. After the second tortodrone is destroyed you run through the falling factory and you must avoid the debris that can hurt you along with enemies. The engineer tries to attack you but is crushed by debris thus killed. You walk onto a cracked cut in half elevator and come up to the surface. I shoulda made this a thread on its own...

It can't be the Alpha Squad. Spoilers Ahead: The core was made to protect whatever is in it FROM the Swarm. So if the Alpha Squad was corrupted by the swarm the creature in the core would be destroyed and Cradle would be destroyed. I'm thinking it would be King Tinkenzar since the story of the Artifact (the gizmo you get from Razwog) will be continued. But if it is Vog then we will have Vog Cubs back o3o

A random and Stupid idea that i came up within 5 seconds. I know he is the rescue camp boss and is the easiest boss but he might be a possibility for a tier 3 boss.

T1 has a very retro gaming nostalgia behind it. Its fun to be in Teir 1 becuase of the colors and vibe. Reminds me of Super Mario or Sonic. The deeper you go the more "hardcore" it gets till its all Fire and Shadow. LAME!
Its gonna be Tortodrone as a boss and its levels will be like Beast levels with sunny days and a Treasure Vault like maps with the Zelda bushes. Tier 3 has a Call of Duty color palette. OOO is gonna fix the lame levels with a little bit of color!
In the Shadow Lairs the entity that lives in the heart of the world sort of explains that the swarm is evil but the thing in the core is actually good and it is trapped. That probably means that the core opened to save the Alpha Squad and then closed the swarm out.
EDIT: Also, XtweeterX, what swarm core? Nothing called the swarm core ever existed! Ignore xtweeter's post this never happened.

They decided that the most hated person on the forums would work best.
It will be a knight in full sinister skelly armor who will be controlling a greaver breeding ground. My attacks will be purly dual wielding purple DVSs that deal curse and poison.
I can spawn greavers and Vees (baby greavers, they fight like scarabs) by breathing dark purple smoke during the battle that trails behind me. If you don't break up the clouds they form into Vees. If a Vee stays alive for 15 seconds it will grow into a greaver of a random status.
And the grievers throw chairs at you.
Don't forget the four silkwing spawners!
I would be very happy with the new boss as Vanaduke reskinned as King Krogmo.

But it's be AWESOME, if you were able to enter the core, and MEET the Alpha Squad.

Why are you so sure?
Although it would be cool if the final boss was basically 4 AI controlled swarm knights who also use weapons you're familiar with using (brandish charges, DA/GF combos and charges, flourish, alchemers--dare I say even catalyzers? or their own polaris/charged alchemer shots.)
Only one member of the alpha squad was infected, that being their Recon. The entity opened up the core for them because of empathy, and I doubt the entity would let a swarm-infected being in without having the possibility to cure it. Swarm itself is perhaps to strong. Alpha Squad isn't Swarm infected by now and is safe in the Core, which will never open else the entire story of the game and the arcade-grinding concept will be RUINED.

so: it would be PERFECT to have tinkinzar as last boss, because......
1) there would be 5 floors and there are 7 members of the crimson order. we have defeated 2:razvog and seerus. than there would be 5 floors with each one member of the CO. at the end there would be....tinkinzar
2)he is one of the monster types which are missing as boss.
3) it would be an 'explanation' where the slooms and tortodrones went :)
If he was then the CO woul be so weak that a Proto guy could do it.
The point is 000, we need REAL endgame content. This is T3 you're talking about, and while Compounds are quite annoying, you can't really call that "endgame". You need something really hard. Something that requires strategy, like Snarby/RT, as well as having massive amounts of health. And OHKOs. Vana's mace is as weak as hell, if you do manage to get hit by that, you wouldn't suffer too much more than the animation suggests. So something really challenging. Something that resists piercing.
I think that the new boss would be like a new version of the Tortodrone, possibly called a Tortodaze, and that it would be able to inflict stun, and perhaps creates spikes come up from the ground randomly. Also it would charge at us like a Trojan.
a possibility is that razog might merge with the artifact that we stole and it would be really challenging or something that goes very deep into the cataclysm like the last owlites maybe... cause candle stick keep used to be considered as the most dreadful level before compounds came along. And also why would waffleconecake be a boss? Is he gonna troll us so much that we all die?
Now that difficulties have been implemented a level should be giving players difficulties they would normally expect from other levels of similar depth as far as damage and health goes.
A level shouldn't be artificially difficult just to be difficult. If the AI is smart, the enemies have unpredictable attack patterns, and the level layout is dangerous in conjunction with enemies then that is fine and dandy but difficulty in the aspect of OHK is simply a bad idea.
OHK type of difficulty is just a cheap lazy way to make a level hard to beat and could alienate players that have invested into resist gear.

Last time I checked, Razwog wasn't and isn't a Crimson Order member.
From the wiki(and Nick), "He's a special guy, but his title (Schemer) basically means 'engineer' in gremlin terms.".
Back on topic, possible bosses could be: Herex, Tortodrone, "Corrupt" Tortodrone(seen lying around in some fiend levels), or Vog.
Or, it could be that "Arena King" mentioned at the end of Arena levels. 5 levels of arena goodness all leading up to a boss. Though, I could've read that text box wrong. Haven't checked it in a while.

Dat feeling of terror when you think of the possibility of a Gremlin/Fiend Boss Strata. Supposedly the fiends were trying to resurrect the Tortodrones, and the Gremlins/Fiends have entered some sort of dark alliance, so it is possible.
