Well, Well, Well
Look OOO, your market is too easily influenced and monopolies on CE have broken out. A group of people have taken to manipulating the prices towards w/e they want.
Didn't I warn you this would happen? I warned you all but no you mocked and ridiculed me.
How does it feel now?
Do not attempt to argue with me about this, there are multiple threads popping up about these issues and people are admitting to doing it. If you defend it, it's because you are doing it to.
OK, OOO it's time to fix your little broken market system, SOMEHOW.
The death of the game is coming unless you do something. STAT.

*beats the false prophet unconscious with his own shoes
Oh and, I would like to join any available market manipulation guild. I need the resources of a larger clan in order to play the market more effectively. IGN: Etendue
Etendue is great at hijacking threads!
@OP
Stop whining.... seriously. Maybe you could go program a game where in-game currency was valued at whatever the loudest player in the forums says they should be valued at.
As far as I know, there are exactly three games that use this currency system. All of them are made by OOO, and frankly, it's a huge part of why I play their games. There are plenty of games that don't use this system, so go find one of those and play it. They invented the system, have been dealing with it for about ten years or more, and they know it inside and out. They don't need you telling them how it should work.
The only thing that needs to be fixed about this system is your attitude, and those of people like you. Now, go remove the caps lock key from your keyboard, take your attitude and by CE with crowns, cash, or wait for some ME and just shut up.

>GoS1 ranting about crowns being undervalued when they are actually still overvalued.
of course it'd be disruptive to the experience of new players if crowns were valued correctly in the current scheme of things, that's why I'd want OOO to make the game more accessible to new players who dont buy CE via the exchange/real money. that'd also lower my estimated real value of CE because less demand/consumption.

I have made about 5k Crowns in 10 minutes of abusing the CE market. All you need is enough money to buy 10x100 of CE. He's also not using Caps Lock so I don't know where you got that idea. You probably abuse it yourself so you don't want it fixed.
^SEE! It's a problem. It's like if I came into your local markets and bought all the bacons, opened up my own market, and sold them for outrageous prices or prices higher then what you were used to. It's a damn monopoly and it needs to stop.

That it's possible for people to buy up a bunch of CE and sell it on with a markup of hundreds of Crowns just indicates that the previous market price was well below what buyers are willing to pay. Higher-level players can farm bosses for CR, and can thus afford to pay more for CE.
As long as buyers remain willing to pay, vendors will keep selling at that price. Vendors will always seek to get the highest price for their goods. To do otherwise would be irrational on their part, so it's pretty pointless to blame them for such behaviour.
Meanwhile, what possible solutions exist to prevent wealthy vendors from buying up all the low-price CE and selling it on at a markup? It's all very well saying "it needs to be fixed!", but can you suggest ways to do so? Price-capping the CE market just means people will turn to the trade channel to sell their CE at their preferred (higher) price, basically creating a black market.
Maybe if Three Rings run another promotion like the Rose Regalia more people will buy CE for cash, which will expand CE supply and bring prices down again. Maybe if they add more crown-sinks to the game, money supply will shrink and CR will become more valuable. I'm not sure why they would, though - if players find it easy to use ME to grind for CR the spend on CE, they've no real incentive to spend actual cash on CE. Bad for the business.
Personally, I think things are still in a state of flux - the game is new, the playerbase is still expanding, the numbers involved are changing all the time. At the moment the CE market is small enough that a few speculators can buy up enough CE to manipulate prices. More people buying CE for cash and selling it on the Market would make that a lot harder. How do you encourage people to sell CE on the market? Well, funny you should ask - rising CE prices could well make it more appealling to sell CE for CR. The more CE vendors, the harder it is for price-manipulators to do their stuff.
So it's a self-correcting problem in which CE prices will be changeable for a while, but eventually settle on a more stable equilibrium.
"Price-capping the CE market just means people will turn to the trade channel to sell their CE at their preferred (higher) price, basically creating a black market."
I like this point a lot. As someone who buys their CE from time to time I can definitely agree that if I knew I could get more from my energy in the trade channel over the Market then I wouldn't even bother using it.

How is this new? I've been doing it since the start of the game.
Someone probably pointed it out and now it's their latest target for all that pent-up, unjustified anger.

Price capping won't work for the reasons above. I believe adding a limit(5) purchases/sales being posted would help stop it. You can post more once 1(100CE) or more of your CE is sold or if you bought 1(100CE) or more. I also believe only allowing people who bought CE with real money should ONLY be able to sell it(flame me if you want, F2Pers).

Beh, whatever.
5k in 10 minutes is the same you would get doing T3 anyway, I don't see how this effects the CE economy.
It only drains 4% crowns for every back and forth trade, if people are playing the market all they're doing is redistributing crowns and CE, not taking it out of the game.
It's not that easy to do either, since so many people do it. It's sometimes quite a competition to make more money out of making buy and sell offers than it is to just play the game.
And no, players who just started don't have the resources to do it, it's purely a venture in how long you can spend not playing the game while making some semblance of profit.
Something which people in this game are adept at doing, because it gives them more time to complain about what they're not doing.
The only reason it's even a deal at all is because Crystal Energy is involved. Everybody is going spastic because they want OOO to remove so they can play the game for free.
Or on GodofSkype's case, for attention.
Lots and lots of attention.
1. get a job ( anything honest and legal, flip burgers ffs... )
2. spend $10 bucks in CE every ???? (3500 CE influx)
3. you now have:
- less time to play
- 3500 regular CE incoming to enjoy the game
- zero reasons to waste your time in these forums crying...
"- zero reasons to waste your time in these forums crying..."
If only, if only.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA your posts make me laugh with glee.....HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHA lolololololololol superFAIL

"- zero reasons to waste your time in these forums crying..."
NEVER!
Didn't I warn you this would happen? I warned you all but no you mocked and ridiculed me.
Egomania is an obsessive preoccupation with one's self and applies to someone who follows their own ungoverned impulses and is possessed by delusions of personal greatness and feels a lack of appreciation. The term egomania is often used by laypersons in a pejorative fashion to describe an individual who is intolerably self-centred. It is characterized by an exaggerated estimate of one's intellect, ability, importance, appearance, wit, or other valued personal characteristics.
Egotists have a strong tendency 'to talk about themselves a great deal...in a self-important fashion'; and egotism may include 'a grandiose sense of self-importance...arrogant, boastful, conceited' and self-promoting even at the expense of others - 'refusing to recognise others for their accomplishments'.
* They feel that rules don't apply to them.
* Their sense of self-importance and lack of empathy means that they will often interrupt the conversation of others.
* They get impatient and restless when the topic of conversation is about someone else, and not about them.
* They constantly use "I", "me" and "my" when they talk.
* During a conversation, no matter what topic is being discussed, they usually end up talking about themselves.
Yah I've got an ego, but you know what it keeps me sane. Until you have been through the secrets that are locked and hidden from me by my mind because they would shatter me, then you can talk about what you think you know about me. Without my ego, I would be an introverted, scared, crying, insignificant, little wimp, with a shattered mind and a broken heart.
The ego protects me.
Also I"m not a textbook case because several of those don't apply to me.
@iamah
1. Crippled ya jerk!
2. No job see 1
3. I don't suffer from these increased prices because I am not playing, however the people who are playing are suffering from them. There is a damn problem in the market and it's going to be heard. I do not care if you think you are going to continue to manipulate the market into ridiculous prices and drive the game into the ground. Your day of reckoning is coming.
You need an ego to protect you? Haha, that's pathetic. However, I can atleast account for your weakness and perhaps penetrate that little "protection" of yours.

The personal fable is a term coined by David Elkind (1967) that is used in psychology to describe a form of egocentrism that is characterized by an over-differentiating of one's experiences and feelings from others to the point of assuming those experiences are unique from those of others. A person might believe that he is the only one who can experience whatever feelings of joy, horror, misery, or confusion he might encounter.
An example of the personal fable: "You just don't know how it feels."

Bla bla bla bla, Blaaaa bbbbllla bllllla. GoS1 threads are boring.
Not those kind of feelings! It's complicated.
Look, if the subconscious broke away the wall that held these memories it would destroy me. The ego helps protect that because if I just knock things off of me, nothing can ever get to the wall.
I had a very abusive childhood and you really can't begin to understand. I'm sure other have had it worse but I wouldn't know about that. To me, mine are pretty bad.
It's not like we have Family Sharing Circle Time here!
Okay, I'm going to stop being a tremendous jerk for a second and be honest -- if you really are having psychology problems, please, see a psychiatrist. I am not trying to be insulting. If being self-important on an internet message board is how you establish a feeling of self-worth, there's pretty obviously a problem there. You will not be able to gain a stable sense of value by complaining about how every patch makes you, in particular, feel about Spiral Knights.
"I had an abusive childhood" --> "So now I act inappropriately" is a great first step, but it absolutely needs to mature to the next part: "I act inappropriately" --> "So I'm working on not acting inappropriately." If you can recognize what's wrong in how you behave, it's up to you to make an effort to curb that behavior, rather than just say, "Well, I have an excuse, so everyone's going to have to just deal with it". I'm not saying this because it's so hard for everyone else to deal with it, it really isn't. I'm saying this for YOUR happiness -- I think YOU will be happier if you can be a more socially-adjusted person.
Maybe you're already seeing a psychiatrist, or maybe you're just messing with me, or whatever. That's fine. But if you were being honest, I owe you a moment of honesty too.
I won't say that I need a psychy. You mistook that as I have to make myself self important, not what I meant. I have an ego yes and yes it does show but it protects the wall that keeps me sane so to speak. Like I've had things slip through and well it wasn't pretty. Imagine your mind kinda going in shock and you freezing w/e you are doing and you zone out. Then next thing you know someone is asking you if you are OK? Yah, that kind of stuff.
I am being completely honest. I am not making excuses and I don't need to be self important on the forum to keep my sanity. HAH! I'm not THAT far gone.
Plus, I don't need to do things to give myself a sense of self worth because well, I'm already awesome XD.
I learned some things though about that stuff you were citing.
When the Something Awful Goons make more sense than most of the BNPs, it's rather shocking.
Well, Raul, the issue has been raised several times in the Suggestions forums, but we can't control whether the devs listen or not.
And gloating over their errors is just being mean-spirited, vindictive and spiteful, just like the rest of the BNPs who boycotted.
At this point I think I might just welcome the Goons to do SOMETHING in SK.
And we ended up talking about the OP.
Lesson here is that one should not feed trolls anything.
At all.
I did misread what you said a bit. And I really should clarify: I don't think you have to be crazy to see a therapist. If you feel like you don't have full control over your actions or feelings, or freeze up for irrational reasons, those sounds to me like extremely good reasons to see a therapist, even if by and large you've got your act together.
Any conversation we could have about what makes someone a Good Poster or whatever is completely unimportant next to that. If your mental state negatively impacts your life, you should talk to a therapist. Be well.
I warned you all but no you mocked and ridiculed me.
Hahahah this is priceless.
@opa Nah bro I'm good. I have control of my emotions and things.
Hahahah this is priceless.
I thought so too!
So I can't help but read Skype's posts like this anymore:

Wise Papa Smurf, CORRUPTED by his own power! Can no leader go untainted!
Also, don't nostalgia.

read Skype's posts
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAA
You guys still read his posts?

I say we raise the prices even further!
I thought you quit.
Just can't leave it alone, eh? It'll never heal if you keep picking at it.

If he actually quit, he couldn't complain so that's never going to happen.
Still here boys and girls, and this game still hasn't improved.
What is this BS about no bump posts?
Why does everyone keep thinking I quit? NOWHERE, did it say, "I QUIT." I have no idea where you people get these grandiose ideas.

Wishful thinking, I guess.
I suspect mainly people are confused because you've said repeatedly that you're not playing the game in protest against the perceived CE issues, but are still hanging around on the forums... complaining about a game that you're not playing.
Just because I am not playing, doesn't mean that I do not log on and check up on things.
It's sort of like how everyone perceives me to be a innocent little apartment dweller where I live where secretly; I know who is in what apartment on the whole, what cars are supposed to be here, when new people move in, and whose causing problems. I feed information to the office when it is pertinent for them to know it.
Do you honestly think I'm not keeping my ear to the cobbles?
Oh - you're the pest that keeps trying to get me evicted for loud music and cussing all night :\

Post something right.
Idiots pour out of the walls saying 'deal with it' and 'make your own game.'
The fact that whatever is right gets befuddled in the minds of idiots.
The point becomes moot, and nothing is accomplished due to close minded thinking.
These forums accomplish so much. Just look at what was accomplished by everyone hating the ruining patch. Absolutely NOTHING.
ducks... not the ugly ones, the pretty looking ones.
