When is this going to start?
Also, what about Polaris?
280k is a pretty decent profit.
I might join when it hits 30-40 people (no clue where 64 people are gonna come from)
@Octalash Pola is easy to get and not very good for a 1v1 against someone with fast guns like vali/antigua. It's fair.
It won't get 64 players due to a few reasons. 1) Pretty sure a lot of people think this is a scam and would rather not throw their money away. 2) Nobody but the 20-ish people who visit this forum know about this tournament 3) Some people realise that they're worse than some of the players in the tournament already and would rather not waste their time. 4) some people just really don't care for this kind of crap. 5) EU gets like 20 players at peak time, USA is like what ? 50-60 ? That means most players from both servers would have to partciate...
And that's reasons as to why not @illu.
Another tournament, another ripoff. 20k*64=1280k. That's a bit more than 1m, and you sure didn't tell us where that money is going. As for getting 64 players, glhf. You'll literally need more than 1/40 of the entire weekly playerbase. LD has about 2k weekly players, for reference. Assuming half of those play one or two games and don't return, it's still 1/20 of the playerbase.
If you're gonna ban hammer, you can't argue for not banning more weapons. Sucky rules really.
Talked to darkcub in game. reason hammer is banned is because its hard to detect AT. so it's not banned if you record.
Why not make the prize like the following:
1st: 50% of the prize = 500k cr
2nd: 25% = 250k cr
3rd: 10% = 100k cr
4th-64th: 15% = 2459.01 ~ 2460 cr each player
People won't like you having profit over doing no "actual" work.
1- 2nd, 3rd and the others are losers, losers don't deserve any prize.
2- "doing no "actual" work" t(-.-t)
3- And we already made a lot of Tournaments and events with free prizes but people came up with excuses about recording softwares and other stuff. So in this one you won't have to record but you will have to pay your own prize and we will receive less than a 1/10 of what we already gave for free.
"Talked to darkcub in game. reason hammer is banned is because its hard to detect AT. so it's not banned if you record."
I'm not someone who likes accusing people of using AT but come on, that's just ridiculous. The precision required to bump into someone and not move past them with hammer is close to impossible to achieve without AT. If there's any AT which is easy to spot, it's Hammer AT.
@Contri
The general idea behind a tournament is that an arranger sets a high prize pot to attract the best competitors so that the best team/player can be identified through the tournament. The idea is not that people pay the arranger for the tournament to happen at all and then only get a fraction of the money paid by all participants in the prize pot. The money taken will be approx. 1/5 of the entire pot. That's quite a bit.
As for doing no actual work, it's more or less right. The judges will merely be spectating duels for no actual reason other than confirming the results of it, and probably making some biased accusations against people when say, one of the judges loses against someone else. There's of course the time you'll spend arranging this but you can't actually expect all the time you put into this to be refunded in CR.
You would probably get a lot more participants if the prize pool was split up. Like maybe 500,000 for 1st, 250,000 for 2nd, 50,000 for 3rd-4th, 25,000 for 5th-8th, 1,000 for 8th-16th, and keep the rest.
The tournament is going to be like this in # 1 all comments regarding changing the formula will be ignored so do not waste time and participate
Tourney Lockdown 1vs1 64 players , Registration 20kcr ! First Prize 1.000.000 and a mouse Razer Naga raffled among the participants !!
if youre going to ban hammer mght as well ban shock weps as well
You're not really going to get 64 players unless you bring back some of the players who quit like 1-2 years ago though..
Not joining, I won't win anyway lol
@Clown-Nine Read, hammer is only banned if you don't record because is hard to tell who is using AT with hammer.
@Clown-Nine
Youd be surprised at how useless storm driver be omes once people get out of chaos and BKC. A simple merc demo set with shock low is all it takes to render a storm near useless.
Basically, if you wear chaos/BKC, then statuses are fair game. Wearers of those items chose offense over defense, and as such pay the consequences.
Though a few inexpensive UVs take care of it quite nicely. 5+ pts of shock and you got a good enough resistance.
Why not doing a 2v2 tourney rather? :D
Would totally join one if someone would organize it... If only I could find a partner T.T
#foreveralone
I'll buy and pay shipping to anywhere in the world, the draw and we will see how to make it legal
"2nd, 3rd and the others are losers"
"2 Contri"
I though you thought of yourself as having a big ego. Da faq happen?
Would totally join one if someone would organize it... If only I could find a partner T.T
Meh, I don't think finding a partner would be that hard. Don't you have a guild? guildmates make good partners.:p
A_A so from what i see Overcharged Mixmaster is allowed (evil grin >:D )
This is going to be soo fun.
Btw do you have any idea on when it will happen (date)
sent you a mail,I want in.
Btw,I'm an EU player,I also prefer if my matches were on 10:00-16:00 on GMT +3:00 since I almost get a stable 2 bars at that time .-
Guh? it was not a 64 player tourney?
I thought the judges would record the matches for others to see.
Bleyjob the showoff vs Van-Snirck https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UAVicglfIR8&feature=youtu.be
dammit just wanted to mail u and say I'd join :/
well ok I probably wouldn't have won anyway
gl and hf all
^Pfft, look at you getting help from Not-Ruby and Contri. You are good, and this is not meant to be directed at you Illusion, since you have skill (against swordies)
Thats not fair to Jleung, no matter how trivial the help might be (Not-Ruby gave him tactical advice, Contri told him to not use BKC).
That's just dumb on Ruby's part, but Contri, giving advice while being one of the tournament recorders (and leader) and his guildmate just isnt fair.
Therillusion knows how to play. In real tournaments, people think for themselves.
Personally, I think Illusion would have beaten Jleung without the advice (just based off of their playstyles). But just like in tennis, even Federer would get penalized for getting advice from his coach while facing a new player in a tournament.
Just saying this for future games, since it is an unfair advantage. And with this prize, if two players that are almost equally matched play and one gets advice, its pretty much a 1.5 vs 1.
Main statement:
If Illu is good, then the advice wouldn't have made a difference therefore not giving an advantage. He could have easily made those decisions himself anyways so it's like complaining about someone doing something after someone gave a suggestion when they would've done it either way.
Let's deconstruct your raised issue:
"Personally, I think Illusion would have beaten Jleung without the advice (just based off of their playstyles)"
Supports what is said above so still not giving an advantage to Illu. Renders your argument pointless
" But just like in tennis, even Federer would get penalized for getting advice from his coach while facing a new player in a tournament"
This isn't tennis nor is the tournament's rules up to you to decide. This has yet to clarified but we can make the assumption that if Contri, being a judge, may comment or make suggestions then anyone can (Will clarify).
"Therillusion knows how to play. In real tournaments, people think for themselves"
Still supports what is said above, however I wish to add another statement on this; Regardless if anyone gave tips or suggestions, the final decision of doing it or not is still up to Theirillusion. Doesn't that mean thinking for yourself?
"Just saying this for future games, since it is an unfair advantage. And with this prize, if two players that are almost equally matched play and one gets advice, its pretty much a 1.5 vs 1."
We can assume, based on the last sentence, that if two equally skilled players face off and one of the two gets a tip then it is a 1.5 vs 1. So what if they are not equally matched? (idk how numbers even work in this case but..) What if one of them is 0.5 and they are fighting a 1? So would it be OK to give advice then? If this applies then you are saying Jleung is weaker than Illu but Illu won because of the advice and not because he was better?
Also how do you know that the HAAlcyons didn't give Jleung advice as well?
Concluding statement:
Your arguement was not neccessary in its current state. If you like, reconstruct it so it actually makes a difference or ticks Contri or Not-Ruby off.
^My point is, regardless of the magnitude of the effect of the advice, receiving it is still considered cheating.
Its why people dont allow advice to be given to chess tournament players.
Or tennis tournaments.
Or any competition that actually matters.
Your argument is based off of assumptions, and therefore is not valid.
You assume Contri telling illu not to use bkc is irrelevant, but illu did change to full snarby right afterwards.
You are also raising the question that Halcyons could have given Jleung advice, when you have no evidence to back this up. A claim with no evidence is useless.
Referring to the 1.5 v 1 statement, that is simply a numerical representation of the situation. I am not talking about skill here. Every person counts as 1 in the tournament. But It is Jleung's brain and his body vs Theirillusion's brain and his body AND Contri/Not-Ruby's brain.
Brain + Body = 1 person
Brain + Brain + Body = 1.5 people
(Obviously not literally)
I do agree that the magnitude of the advice is insignificant. But cheating is cheating, and I feel the need to bring it up. It shows what kind of people these internet people truly are.
My proof is in the video. Just watch the chat.
I spent 10 minutes trying to add my next match opponent to my friends list, but Pinwisk doesn't exist..
mind spell checking it?
From my previous post:"This isn't tennis nor is the tournament's rules up to you to decide."
But you still don't get to decide whether it's cheating or not because it's up to Cub (The Organizer), a fact being a fact and not an assumption.
What happens if they split the Bo3s? Also dates n'stuff pls
