((First of, I'd like to say goodbye to Necroterra...you were one of the first 'Gades, and always did a great job at making this story more than just a bunch of monsters running around and trying to save Cradle. I'm going to miss both your posts, and your general guiding presence. Good luck out there.
*Throws several shoes at Tev, and we both know you'll dodge them badly...*))
Vakros was jolted by the question...and how he would answer it. He thought briefly of lying and saying it was a medical experiment gone wrong...but then they might question his ability if his doctoring skills were needed...he also didn't want to sound like he was some kind of mutation, some alien thing to not be touched. He needed an answer that would let him be accepted.
On the other hand, he kind of wanted to just say some angry, sarcastic comment, but he knew that just wouldn't work. Telling the truth seemed a bit to...secretive. The whole crystal deal with Rultaos ended with a hush-hush feel, so he didn't think blabbering it off to these, and through them pretty much every Gremlin Renegade, was the best idea.
His final decision was to tell a bit of the truth, with some white lies sprinkled in. Okay, maybe not 'white' lies.
"To be honest...I don't really know for sure." He paused and raised his wrench. "Ya'see this crystal? Well, yeah. It has some really long name that starts with Zos or somethin', and It has some special powers. The only creature that I know of that knows of its properties was Tallith, a...erm...wise Slush Pup. And now...uh...he's now gone..." Vakros regained his voice, his meager story coming together. "...killed because he knew of its purpose."
He then saw how lame the whole thing was, and nervously scratched behind his ear, hoping they'd just buy it, and forget about it while stuck in Emberlight.
((Now I know Tallith just kind of disappeared, so the whole getting killed part was a lie from Vakros. I also know that I should proof-read this thing, but it's late, so expect some errors. :D ))
The elevator came to a shuddering halt as it struggled to support the amount of beings riding on it. With a full party of knights, a gremlin, a mecha knight, and a lumber all riding on it at the same time, it was a wonder the thing hadn't broken down from exceeding the weight limit. Nevertheless, the ride came to a halt at a deserted terminal, the location Brastley and the Renegades had agreed to meet in the first place. After everyone untangled themselves from the heap they were in, (and in one case a gremlin checking for broken ribs), they proceeded to take a breather and treat their wounds from the recent skirmish.
The knights helped the injured one down from his Redward perch and proceeded to take him off to the side, where they started to check their equipment and use basic medical supplies to patch things up as best as they could. However one stayed behind to talk to the gremlin, Brastley to be exact. He looked pointedly at the gremlin and asked: "How's that reprogramming holding up?"
At first Dagren was a bit confused, but then realized that Brastley was beginning the act that the Renegades and the Spiral Order had agreed upon.
"You can see the results yourself," Dagren grunted, replying in a calm manner. "There are a few bugs," (Dagren glared at Fridge), "but overall, the results look promising".
As the other knights looked on in curiosity, Dagren explained his cover story: that he was a gremlin from Emberlight that was volunteering for an experimental construct reprogramming procedure. He was supposed to be escorted by Brastley to the Spiral Order HQ so he could bring a special report on the procedure to commander Ozlo. Upon hearing this, the rest of the knights went back to their business. Brastley walked over to his peers too, but quickly gave Dagren a small thumbs-up in approval.
Dagren shrugged and turned to check the components of the constructs, adjusting and repairing parts that were damaged in the battle. Luckily, besides being a bit scuffed and askew, the projector on Fridge was still intact and functional. Dagren removed Fridge's chestplate and investigated the innards for battle damage as well.
"Mmmm... cracked Power Cell... he muttered as he fiddled around Fridge's chest cavity attempting to remove the broken component. However, it was jammed, and Dagren had to pull with all his strength and both arms to attempt to dislodge it. "Argh! Come on!" he grunted, now placing a foot onto the mecha knight for extra leverage. With a mighty wrenching motion, the component finally came loose and Dagren tumbled backwards a bit from the momentum.
"Hah!" he exclaimed in triumph. However, the moment was ruined when a squirt of lubricant splashed onto his face from a loosened tube in Fridge's chest. Coughing and sputtering, Dagren gave an angry stare at Fridge, who simply shrugged apologetically. Dagren sighed in defeat. Why did he try anymore? In sympathy, Brastley handed Dagren a towel.

After sufficiently resting, they all crammed onto the elevator again (without shocks this time, Dagren had made sure to fix that issue) and it groaned in protest as it once again ascended upward. They finally reached Haven's arcade, and proceeded to disembark. Many knights in the area stood and stared a bit, looking at the unusual sight of a team of knights and Clockwork creatures standing so close together on one elevator. However, seeing as the knights were relaxed and the creatures seemed non-threatening, most of the knights simply shrugged it off as none of their business.
Brastley then left his teammates, thanking them for their efforts. With a salute, he walked off, leading the team of constructs and a gremlin to the Spiral HQ. Although he knew he was safe, Dagren couldn't help but feel a bit intimidated by the multitude of knights surrounding him as they walked through Haven. They eventually reached a building just outside of Haven itself, and Brastley walked up to one of the Guardian knights that was standing guard outside and traded a few words with him. With a nod, the massive knight opened the door, allowing them entry. Brastley beckoned for the rest of the team to follow, and with a slight feeling of trepidation, the 3 Clockworks creatures stepped into one of the most important buildings in Haven.
