Hello.
I don't know how many of you know about the previous Fashion Show hosted by Rgn-vertigo, me, Magnus, and a bunch of other people, which took place sometime in January.
But, in my opinion, it was a success.
So why not do it again?
Though this time, I'll take the initiative, and learning from mistakes we made in the past, make this contest well organized.

Last time, we noticed that we just CAN'T host a neatly-organized contest in Haven, since people are posteriors. So we decided to use a guild where we'll get everybody in, but this was pretty unfair for some people who just couldn't leave their guild on such short notice.

Date: 31 March. It's a Saturday.
Time: 8 PM GMT (!!! DST TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION), that's 3 PM in EST, please do not ask for a change, this is the best time for the majority.

If you want to participate, you have time to contact an officer or guild master, asking for permission to leave the guild for 1-2 hours during the time of the contest in case you will be selected.
If you are the guild master of your guild, and don't have any trustworthy officers or guild masters, I suggest you invite an alt account of yours to the guild, demote any guild masters there might be, promote the alt up to guild master, then the other guild masters. This way, when you leave your guild, you alt will remain the senior guild master.
I'm sorry but this is the only way to do it neatly organized.
I would also like to quote someone on this matter, since I agree completely:
"I personally don't get why people make such a big deal out of leaving a guild, but whatever. Three knights can be tied to one account, so you can run your guild through one of those (pretty sure you can remote-invite people through mail, so no need for multiclienting). As for those who are members rather than masters, if your guild doesn't readmit you you're better off; they are a terrible, terrible guild and will fall apart in due time." ~Guyinshinyarmor

Learning from past mistakes, these will be the rules:

-Pre-selections will be made in Haven 52, in the Bazaar. They will start at roughly 8PM GMT, and will end as soon as possible, so try not to be too late.

-I will coordinate the pre-selections alone, you have to listen to me. I will ask you to stand in a line, and only those in the line will be judged in the pre-selections. There will be over 90 spots in the guild for contestants. I will look at each of you, and if you are selected, you will receive a guild invitation to Event Makers. Please do not ask me if you are accepted or not, I will not say anything on that matter. If I leave and you haven't received an invitation, it means you weren't selected.
Please leave your guilds only after you've received the invitation. Once you have joined the guild, please stay quiet, I will announce when the pre-selections will be over, and after that, we will go to the Guildhall for the actual competition. If you don't listen, you will be kicked from the guild and disqualified.

-Any misbehavior will lead to you being ignored, kicked from the guild, disqualified, and frowned upon. If I tell you to stop, you stop. I want this to be a neat and nice event for everybody, so I can't stress this enough: Listen to me and be patient.

-There will be 5 categories in the actual competition:

General: Something that simply looks good in general, that you'd expect to see chilling around the AH.
Cute: Something that would make you go d'awww, that you'd expect to see buried in squealing snipes.
Scary: Something that you'd be afraid to see in the middle of the night in a long hallway, that you'd expect to see in a Graveyard or Candlestick Keep.
Badass: Something that yells "Don't mess with me.", that you'd expect to see riding a motorcycle trough flaming lions.
Beautiful: Something delicate, peaceful and eye-pleasing, yet powerful, that you'd expect to see helping Bechamel or posing for fancy painters.

You will have to choose where your outfits fits, but beware, a cute outfit in the scary section will bring you a penalty. I explained them the best I could.

-5 lines with the categories will be made in the Guildhall, according to my instructions, from left to right: Cute, Beautiful, Badass, Scary, and General, and they will be judged in that order. While making the lines I will wear a costume relevant to the category of the line. If you have participated in the Cute category for example, you may move to the Beautiful one ONLY if you change your outfit entirely, AND if you haven't won the second or first place.

-The judging will be done by me and Desuchan. We will give you marks when judging the categories, for several things, such as the combination of helm-armor you chose, the accessories placement and color if applicable, personal color, shields (no shield = no influence, mismatching = minus some points, matching= extra points, weapons will not be taken into consideration)... and the one with the highest overall score will win. There are 2 winners for each category. In the final round, the first winner from each category will qualify and I will give you in-depth critique, unless you don't want it.

-I am aware that costumes are subjective, and I do like some over the others, just like anybody else, but I will leave that behind and judge you fairly, no worries. But by coming to the pre-selections you subject yourself to crushed dreams when you get rejected. And don't whine about it, you'll only get yourself ignored. I'm serious, I'm disgusted by people who can't take critique.

-NO, expensive accessories will NOT guarantee a win. Clever combinations of armors, WELL USED accessories, and personal colors, will win.

-People who have entered the previous contest and won first place in a category or qualified in the finals are NOT allowed to participate with the same outfit. This isn't a repeat of the first contest. -Personal colors matter, as do shields. However, weapons do not.

-Once again, DO NOT whine if you get rejected. The best thing you can do is actually ASK how to make it better. If you have any questions or want help with making your outfit better, I can help you after the competition.

-I understand this is hard to control and unfair, but I'd appreciate it if, if you had more than one costume, and you see someone at the preselections with the one you wanted to enter, you'd switch to another costume for the best of both of you. However if that is your only costume, try to talk it out with the other person in case they got another, because if there are two people with the same helm-armor combination, I will take in account personal color and accessories much more than if they were the only costumes in the competition, which can drastically influence your score.

Prizes will consist of crowns, and CE, maybe some accessories, who knows! But don't expect to win a fortune, this is mostly for fun and strutting your outfits. c:

I would also greatly appreciate prize donations, since I cannot supply decent prizes all by myself. :c Now, I know nobody will just hand out stuff like that because of the fear of being scammed, but I'd like to mention the previous contest in which we received some prize donations, and they were all handed out, so don't fear to mail me the donations. I will note you down with what you donated and give a shout-out with your name and the donation at the end of the competition, as well as list your name here.

-Time doesn't particularly matter to me, I don't plan my weekends that far in advance. If I can't make it, I'll message you a few days before the contest. Simple enough for everyone I'd imagine right?
-You were pretty straightforward with what you had in mind so I don't really have much I could suggest to improve it. You refined the method from the first one and it looks like you've got most of the more particular stuff straightened out.
-Can't think of anything I'm confused on.

Beautiful, well, let's say, a black tabard with a fallen crown would be beautiful. It's not cute, scary, or badass, but it is beautiful. It's up to you to choose your category, but be careful, a dread skelly in the cute category will get a penalty.

I assume you're not gonna allow previous winning costumes in this one. We don't want someone rocking Hadn's outfit to win this one. That would be lame.

As for the guild requirement, you can scrap that if the judges actually coordinate properly. Have them all get Skype/Vent/Teamspeak/Steam/Whatever-voice-client-you-have. Least then you can keep a list of contestants, share it through the client and go down the list. Doesn't matter if people get in the way if you tell the contestants to hold a line and inspect them all. That'll open it up for all those too lazy to make arrangements or who are in horribly run guilds.

How did I not see that? Oh, right! I don't care about some rich boy's butthurt because his poor accessory placement choice was dissed. I am horribly disgusted by the mis-interpretations he presented there and have lost every single bit of respect for him, it is so horribly misunderstood that I will not even bother to comment on every little wrong thing he wrote there since I would end with a page-stretching post.

I will not cancel this event just because some people think "DIS IS PERSONAL OPINION MY COSTUME IS GOD AND URS SUCKS ERRYBODY IS BEAUTIFUL AND U CANT JUDGE US!" Yes, the opinion of the judges is not the absolute truth but we do know what goes well together and what doesn't, and we will base out choice on that. Hey if you don't like that, no need to participate, just sit put and move on.

Well, someone needs to learn to take critique and accept the good intentions of some people. Races and trivias are not the only kinds of possible contest and nobody can stop me and the people who would like to participate from hosting this.

I know what mistakes were made in the previous contest and I will avoid them the best I can, I know exactly what I want to do and how.

I really hoped that I will not have to say this but I forgot some people with internal frustrations who blindly follow a person with money falling out of their pocket need to poke good intended fellas in the ribs just because they don't like what they're doing.
Really, really sad...

Anyway, moving on!

No need to keep the eventgoers all that organized if the judges can judge. That was the major issue with the last one from what I saw; judges couldn't do a damn thing with all the ruckus. Pretty sure anyone in the contest would cooperate and not be a dick anyway, and that's what matters. All you need to do is broadcast orders and results via shout or something. Might have to have every event master do it at once to further the impact too.

The main thing is to throw the net as wide as possible. Sure, you're gonna catch a lot of garbage, but you'll also catch prizes you wouldn't otherwise.

Say for example... I wanted to enter all 5 categories.... with 5 different costumes (TOTALLY different ones). So, say I want to enter the General category first. If I am not in the winner or in the finals round of that category... can I move onto another category with a DIFFERENT costume? and continue on? etc?

criticism. ;D (some of it helpful, some of it bratty)

Let's get started.

Firstly: I'd like to commend RubyEclipse on their
ability to write in such an admirable fashion.

Secondly: I believe that one of the winners of
the previous competition's name was Retequizzle...?
Anyway, that's not important to my point. My
point is that he won the competition wearing
a Chapeau and a Justifier Jacket. This is a
good combination. However, when he was
named winner of whatever award he received,
another knight using THE EXACT SAME
costume was in the crowd of applicants. This,
in my extremely humble opinion, was an
example of epic failure because not only
was there (1) bias in the judging or (2) a
failure to examine each contestant's
costume thoroughly, but also, there being
two costumes including the exact same armors
(and possibly accessories) transgressed
the rule that each costume had to be original.

Here's to a [better] fashion show!

No one cares about what you think, that's just another stupid opinion of yours. Your opinions are "No big deal".

Didn't know you could read other peoples mind. Yet again, it's a personal opinion and not a very strong sentence for some kind of guy like you.

4. A poll on the forum or etc would be more preferable so that everyone in the community can judge. 4 judges cannot judge hundreds of participants, it'll be even more funny if there's only 2 judges. (Next Event = Doomed)

5. I was only stating that you should read that guide from Ruby, all of it is just a personal opinion, no one said it was 100% true. Yet again, no need to rage.

Basically just like what I said before, there's no such thing as success for a in-game event, especially a fashion show contest because it's all about our own personal opinion. That is why I said a poll would be more preferable, more opinions on one person = more accurate.

PS: Magnus & Tersakoff = Both from the guild "Guild" = Fruits wins again. Yet would be a fail event if this happened.

PPS: You should thank Ruby for spending his time writing out a guide for you. He's just showing his opinions about your mistakes. HE HELPED YOU AND THEN YOU RAGED AT HIM? YOU'RE SO SAD :C

Yep I won't be participating this time because I was already disappointed last time.

Congrats, it's amazing to see so many people wanting to attend, but oh well. They can just waste their time standing and watching people spam in haven. I couldn't be bothered standing there just to get a prize last time, so I just left.

No. There was no winner with such a costume. Nor was there a contestant with that name. ^^

While it IS possible for such a thing to happen, someone getting selected, and another person with the same costume not, these are the only possible causes: -The personal color of the second one was ruining the costume
-They misbehaved and were disqualified
-A judging error, which even if in the first contest may have been possible, this time I assure you there will be 0 confusion while judging because it will be just me and Magnus and we'll keep track of what the other does and know exactly what and when to do. No worries. c:

And Fruits will NOT come with the same costume since that is not allowed. Who knows if someone will outshine him, even though he IS great with costumes, guild has nothing

It's sad that you think this is all about prizes... :< this time the prizes will be less valuable, even! Unless someone donates something very valuable which is unlikely.
