Suggestions to the Prestige system, how the Prestige points may be used.

============================================================================
SUGGESTION 1 :: With regards to asking for equipments
============================================================================
In the mission detail page, they should make the item icons 5 times bigger, its a rather big area to show such a tiny icon...
yea, the icons are not utilizing the space allocated to them.
The start button is big, so the item icons can be be bigger too.
This will better emphasize the items needed to prevent accidental, thoughtless turn-ins
draw some new icons that is at least 4 times the current size
(think retina display XD)
In addition to showing a bigger icon and name, and if it asks for equipments , they should highlight its row in yellow
if you have more then one copy of the item in your inventory,
An intermediate warning window could pop up after pressing start to allow you to choose which one you bear to part with,
along with all attached accessories and UVs
Add another layer of warning window after pressing start for donating weapons, that says something like
ARE YOU REALLY GONNA GIVE US THIS TREASURE?
Display the face of big googly eyed knight in round glasses, preferably wearing the spiral tail helm =p and not the cyclops cap Xd
then display the HUGE icon, name, accessories and UVs before the yes/no button.
This has to solve accidental turn-ins or PEBKAC.
Please note that there should not be an option to "not display these warnings in future"
============================================================================
SUGGESTION 1.5 :: With regards to rewards of missions asking for equipment
============================================================================
The amount of prestige given could also do well to have 1 or 2 more zeros added to the back.
After a knight turns in the mission, and giving up their hard-earned equipment,
it could be followed by a game wide announcement like
"ALL HAIL XXXX FOR GENEROUSLY SUPPORTING THE FALLEN KNIGHTS REHAB PROGRAM"
(instant gratification is very empowering)
as well as a 24hr 1.5x heat and gold bonus, stackable with the heat bonus item(amounting to a 3x heat)
(actual gratification)
We could bring it even further by playing an announcement to all party members whenever that player joins the party.
Something like:
"THE GRAND PHILANTHROPIST(of the day) XXXX GRACES YOUR PITIFUL PARTY WITH HIS NOBLE PRESENCE"
Party members could gain a 1.25 heat and gold bonus, again stackable with the heat bonus item.
This party bonus will not be extended to another philanthropist nor is it stakable with another philanthropist's party bonus.
(make the obnoxious tolerable)
It would be even better if you could also give THE GRAND PHILANTHROPIST(of the day) a colored aura with colored ethereal wings, that fade in and out of visibility.
(tier 3 could have 6 golden/prismatic wings)
(tier 2 could have 4 white wings)
(tier 1 could have 2 grey wings)
These auras could be circles that raise from the floor upwards slowly fading out, to be distinct from accessory auras
The wingspan of the wings have be the height of 2.5 knights, end to end, to be distinct from and extend the wing accessories.
(CONSTANT GRATIFICATION!!!!!!)
Addemdum1 : These wings and aura would expire after a time limit, like after 24 hrs or until the next equipment prestige mission.
============================================================================
SUGGESTION 2 :: With regards to prestigious bragging
============================================================================
If possible, assign an area of haven with a huge leader board that displays the global prestige point of every player.
The leaders should not have any rewards as it is impossible to dethrone top contributors. this is only for bragging rights
Addendum 2: Kentard suggests to give the leaders super brawl crowns since those are now lying in disuse.
If so, the boards would have to be wiped regularly. Maybe in this case, there could be a seperate board for all time prestige and weekly/monthly prestige.
============================================================================
============================================================================
SUGGESTION 3 :: With regards to making the equipment prestige missions actually matter to the contributors
============================================================================
But lastly, Philanthropist like to see their contributions actually making a difference to their target charity.
Therefore I suggest a Level, or a mission, that evolves with the contribution points of the last month.
The scenario of the level could be a skirmish level,
Like a big battle between hundreds of enemies(gremlins?) and hundreds of NPC knights.
(But seriously, fix these NPC knights first please)
I was going to also suggest storm the camp(castle, village, etc) but that would be too similar to the expansion level.
So the level is a battle and you just happen to arrive in time for the start of the battle.
Some one else suggested a clockworks lockdown, i really like that idea, and that could come here.
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/44432
If not, then the level would just be a big square patch of land with some terrain details, like a small stream separating the 2 sides
A chess board themed land would be cool too, like in Through the Looking Glass.
The gate to the next level would only unlock when one side is defeated.
The NPC knights would hold weapons that were mentioned in all the prestige missions in the last month.
The amount of contributions from the past month would decide the amount of NPC knights holding those contribution weapons.
if the public has been miserly, then there would be more NPC knights fighting in proto gear.
The NPC Knights should also be constantly saying things every time they kill/or be killed by an enemy
Either
Very pompous and overtly thankful words of praises to their kind, generous, almost gods of a benefactor
or
Very tragic, dramatic, and Shakespearean woeful wails and goodbyes to the cruel world and how they would have survived if their gear had been better.
It would be best to also mention how they long to see their dearly beloved or their aged mothers again.
When the Knights Win, the players will be honored by the NPC on a pedestal, flooded in praises and be given a special token, or accessory or token that can be accumulated to exchange for war themed costume/accessories
i.e "THE GRAND POOBAH HELM" "COMMANDER IN CHIEF CREST" "LORD HIGH ANYTHING CHEVRONS" "AURA OF THE FIRST CHANCELLOR OF SHOWING OFF"
When the Knights Lose, the NPC leader would scream(in the speech bubble) dramatically "ALL HOPE IS LOST! FLEE BRAVE KNIGHTS! SAVE YOURSELVES, GO ON.... without m......."
Then the players will have to make a mad dash to the elevator with all the remaining enemies chasing them down... throwing everything including the kitchen sink at the knights.
============================================================================
Please excuse the horrible structure of my post. School assignments are drowning me.
I first wrote this idea in response to another thread mentioning the demanding prestige missions.
Here is the link.
http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/47683
Thanks for reading, and i hope i have pique your imaginations.

I forgot to mention that the aura and wings would expire in 24 hrs.
Thus it's not the ultimate accessory.
Since these are prestige missions I thought those would be very prestigious.
Really hope they would give those things in 1.5
I prefer to be optimistic and not say never =p
I know the system would probably die with hundreds of instantiated game objects.
But some large scale level would be nice.
I was thinking global contribution would determine NPC eqs but individual contributions could work well too =p
Basing it on a bell curve would be good but unfair to less able players.
pass the bar seems too easy if it was a single person =p
Either way I hope they would think about what i suggested =]

I don't have any problem with nobody attempting to complete the Arms Appropriation missions...
It's not like we really need any more CE sinks.
I like Suggestions 1 & 2 though.
~Sev

By 1 I hope u mean 1.5 too? XD haha
CE sinks are not immediately useful to players so the next best thing would be to make it somewhat fun and humorous =D
A least that's what I think regarding necessary evils =p

Not a big fan of 1.5.
Because in 1.5 you are essentially:
1: Encouraging/providing more incentive people to sink CE into high-cost weaponry donations,
2: Giving a crown bonus which is pumping even more crowns into the game, and will no doubt be used in KoA for 18K/run runs.
Basically you're drawing from all the CE and pumping even more crowns into the game. Not good in my book.
~Sev

good point that would devalue the crown even further
hows about 1.5 heat bonus for the player alone and 1.25 heat bonus only for party members?
This is to help compensate for the high level item contributed.

Prestiege should be a way of decreasing alchemy costs. And, the more you craft items with uv's, the more crafting experience, means an increased chance of UVs, and a decreased crown cost. CE cost remains the same.

I'm sorry, but I really don't think the benefits outweigh the costs for your suggestion. I guess the first part would be sort of okay; it would provide some incentive to get more prestige. If crafting costs were reduced, though, prestige would literally just be a way of keeping the poor poor and making the rich even richer. People with more prestige would be able to more easily craft high-level items that they could "donate" to get even more prestige. On top of that, you suggested that people who randomly craft UVs would suddenly have a higher chance to craft UVs. To me, this makes absolutely no sense. Rich players could farm 1* crafting until they had a sure chance of crafting a UV on higher-level items.

this game is unique in the sense that other then spending power, older players do not have any form of statistical advantage over new players.
using prestige to make crafting easier or making UVs easier to experienced crafters would break this balance and make it extremely hard for new players to catch up to older players
Its not wise to make it that way.

I'm all up for the suggestions that make Prestige something to show off about (true to its name, of course); not so much concrete rewards such as crown boosters, and certainly not increased chances of UVs when crafting.
If anything I'm all in for Suggestions 1 and 2.
In addition, I refer you to this.
I found this particularly interesting; but while we aren't going to have Super Brawl anytime soon, we could have a similar system to Prestige; with the leaderboards updated every week, it is logical to have a temporary costume item given to players with the highest Prestige scores.

Sounds good, I will add your suggestion into section2
No one like 1.5 and 3?
Aww.. I actually like to see those..

I know this may not really follow your actual thread, but i would love to have an official leader board for those who have large amounts of prestige. this way, people will know who is at the top, and how well they are doing. On a side note, i am starting an unofficial leader board in a
separate thread, so you all can post there if you want to be on the board
Suggestion 1 would be very much appreciated.
Suggestion 1.5 would NEVER happen, though in the same vein the rewards for missions should be a bit more than [Basic item x] + Prestige.
Suggestion 2 is something that we should've had already - what's the point of bragging if you can't prove it easily and globally?
Suggestion 3 is... uhm... well, as interesting and nice as it sounds, the current game engine probably couldn't handle that sort of scale. Something similar would be nice, perhaps a level that scales in difficulty depending on how much (or little) Prestige you've gathered recently.
Basically, as I see it (and I totally agree), what you're saying is that Prestige shouldn't be just a meaningless number - it should represent how much work you've put into completing missions and daily assignments.
