Does anyone really need your "corrections"? Because I'm fine without having to see your annoying posts
Battle Sprites and other updates
@Captain
good point...
@nick
1. will pets die? if yes....
2. will it cost ce to rev them?
3. what happens if you die? will the pet die too?
4. what happens if the pet die? will you die?
5. will pets be fed different types of mats for its kind? e.g drakon can eat dark shards?
6. will pets die from hunger (if must be fed) if not fed? or maybe change attitude. Or you can feed, but dont have to....
7. will the pets emotion and attitude change from time to time? Or from logging of for long time?
Idea no.1: you can right click the pet and inspect pet alone in haven.
Idea no.2: you will have a window you can open and make your pet do tricks??
please reply!!!
"I read it and never saw anything saying that, so next time why don't you think before mocking everyone!"
Not everyone. Just you, and it's called telling someone they're evidently missing something.
Baka:
How do I get one of my own?
Once the Battle Sprites are available, a new series of rank missions will be added for players as soon as they reach Haven. These missions will teach players about Battle Sprites and allow them to try out each of the three starter sprites before ultimately choosing one to keep.
Of course, these new rank missions will be playable by any player who has already surpassed those early ranks, rewarding you with a Sprite to keep just like new players.
Sprites will be a significant part of the Haven Garrison's Laboratory.
Read it? Evidently not close enough.
"Well if that's your way of saying it, but it offends me"
Frankly, I could care less. If you're not going to pay attention to anything and everything going on, you can hardly expect me to be nice about it.
When he said a new series of missions when you reach haven, I read it wrong, I thought it said Cradle when I first read it, oh god, I am so sorry
There's only one sprite whose purpose is solely for combat.
Here is a suggestion-
Blue Terrabird- lightning based attacks which can cause shock, can also boost your attack speed.
Also, why not make the baby monsters from the monster pockets become interactive. You feed it and it can grow into a adult chromalisk, gun puppy, and Mewcat which can be 3 new kinds of battle sprites?
Does this mean I should start stockpiling materials for this?
If so, what types of materials? (I imagine shards should be a good place to start)
Drakon: Red, Dark shards
Seraphynx: Light, green shards
Maskeraith: Dark, Green shards...?
err... iduuno
Sprites will not die. No need to worry that your new, loving dragon buddy will leave your side unless you want him to do so.
@Nick
Any chance that you guys will "borrow mag cells" from PSO as promo of some sorts? I know it's a farfetched question but would be nice to see Sato, Rappy and other redone in Spiral Knights style.
Will we get demotasic ones?
Or pit brutes?
@Dragonuity
We need more damage inducing sprites
There's only one sprite whose purpose is solely for combat.
No we don't..so what? if there is only 1 sprite that deals damage? There is also just 1 sprite each that can weaken the enemy and defend your team?
Here is a suggestion-

A bit overpowered? There's a reason why the developers didn't put ASI and DMG bonus in one wolver line.
Also, why not make the baby monsters from the monster pockets become interactive. You feed it and it can grow into a adult chromalisk, gun puppy, and Mewcat which can be 3 new kinds of battle sprites?
No. They are accessories and will stay like that forever.
Battle Sprites! has anyone mention battle sprite duels yet?
@Berzerkules: It's been brought up many times, usually whenever PvP and Sprites are in the same thought.
ahh ok!! my bad.. calm down Night-Rove. Thanks Traevelliath.
Hey nick, roughly how much damage will they do; when they start out and when they become the most powerful?
I have couple questions:
First, does the Sprite has a star system that we need to upgrade?
If yes above then: Will we all start with a 1* sprite and has to upgrade it or we will get one our level? (kinda like Dark Retribution and Rocket Warmaster Hammer?)
Will we have new "socket" or will it take one jewel/weapon slot to equip?
And also, future idea about adding more Sprite and making them evolve? I know it's early in the making but still... Would like to know if it's a little "here's a pet for you" or a good "here's a nice pet system for you"
Thank You
Also when should I expect the next Test Server to starts? Mid-February? End of March? Early June?
i really want one i want the mew looking one as my first one because i already have a lot of power i got a lot of 5* stuff defensive type help with runs so soloing be easier plus rather be defensive type and get others later.
I quit SK quite some time ago but for this I definitely come back! Even if only to try.
Btw: I guess you can somewhat direct your pets attack with an easily rotate-able autotarget kind of thing?
Nick and the rest of the SK people; we all love you for this.
I've got an idea.
Routor.
A Mechanical Sprite made from remains of radio dishes and Tv attenas that is despite not helping with buff or offense as much, can provide tactical help. Using it's data, it can scan enemy weaknesses or health. It can also show enemy positions. A direct attack could be an AoE attack.
Nick's post made me think again. Most likely will take this to suggestions once they are released.
All sprites are designed for combat, all have at least one direct damage skill. But of the three starters, the drakon has the most direct damage skills. This is not to say that it's skills ultimately result in the most damage, they are simply the most direct.
Nick still looking for a simple question:
Does Pet attack at their own will like mechknights?
Or
Doest Pet attack when the owner attack and attack the same target as the owner?
Thank you.
@Sweethope Post 24 Nick already said that they will use there skill via key press.
A few questions;
Do sprites have a customizable and presumably limited number of skills?
Ergo in a Pokemon-esque fashion does a sprite say have 30 possible skills to choose bewteen but can only actually "know" say 3-5 at a time, thus meaning you have to customize their skill-set, ensuring variety and enabling you to 'build' them in different ways? Or are all end-game sprites of the same 'class' going to basically be identical skill-wise?
When you say "evolve" will the sprite's apperance change, without explicit customizing?
As Sprites level up and possibly upgrade, will their appearance change at all indepedently of equips? Ergo putting aside specific equippable items like the harnesses or accessories, would there be any visual difference between a completely basic sprite and one that had levelled a lot but had no specific equips?
What does "Starter Sprites" mean?
Is this meant to imply that there will be sprites avaliable besides the Starter Sprites at some stage? And how will that happen, will it be based on the "evolution" ergo say there's thirty different 'final' states but they all start off as one of the original three and 'evolve' via different trees, or are there going to be other 'base' sprites as well?
Considering the above, how much variety do you intend their to be between fully upgraded sprites?
Are we looking a system where even if five players start with a Drakon, by the time they're fully upgraded and equipped they could all be completely different in terms of skills, equips, apperance, ect, or is the level of variety and depth there limited?
I'm curious if all sprites will be available to F2P players on the long run. I don't think it beyond OOO/Sega to hide some more content behind another paywall - as we're still waiting on OCH becoming available for all users (even though it's purchasable using CE on the Asian servers.) Let's just hope OOO won't take this and related updates as incentive to further alienate the F2P community.
So, can we get a statement on whether all content relevant to actual gameplay - be it sprites, harnesses, or skills - will be available to F2P players not using Steam?
@Night-Rove
I know but what worries me its like: pet its with you, see an enemy and start attacking without pressing the skill pet button, then you press skill pet button the pet attack the target youre attacking. i dont want automatic pets that attack anything in sight if you dont press the button. a pet that attack the same target as the owner when the owner wish its something i can tolerate.
i just want him confirm the pet will not have Free Will attacking monsters and only attack when the owner press the button (and of course only attack targets that the owner are focusing, not free will to attack anything around). thats the only thing i want him answer. :/ because thats my biggest concern
I think that's what nick meant...not 100% sure
You think they copied from the cyber-elfs in megaman zero?
So anyways, how will the move system work? I was just thinking that maybe there could be a speed stat if there are cool downs for moves, which would basically determine the length of the cool down :P
Plus, are there any other ideas for sprites? Right now we have 3 starter sprites that all fly and stuff. Will there be sprites that are ground-based?
vIdeas for ground-based battle sprites?

Again, sprites do not perform their skills unless a player executes the skill (via a key press, just like an attack).
A few more answers:
- Each sprite has a total of three skills they will ultimately know if they reach max level. However, by max level these skills will function differently between players who own the same sprite, creating some nice variety.
- As a sprite levels it will evolve and change its appearance. As mentioned before, what you see in the preview pics are examples of max level sprites. But there are many possible combinations of appearances that a single sprite can achieve. Just like skills, this creates variety as well.
- By 'starter sprites' I mean the three sprites that players will all get to experience and ultimately choose one in their rank mission campaign. The one they choose is theirs to keep and level up. When other sprites are released in the future, they will not be 'starter sprites.' There will be other means of acquiring them, most likely after players have first completed the missions that grant you the starter sprites.
Sounds awesome!
Quite excited.
Will more sprites be released with future updates to expand on the 3 beginning sprites?
If the awnser's yes..
/crosses fingers for swarm-type sprite
"You think they copied from the cyber-elfs in megaman zero?"
That was a reply long in coming. Huh.
I didn't say they copied them, but the idea is very similar.
MMZ Cyber Elves:
-Three classes: Nurse, Animal, Hacker. Nurse-type directly assist the player, usually with drops, and/or resistances. Animal-type assist movement and attack enemies. Hacker-types affect enemies and the scenario.
-Cyber Elves are fed E-crystals to 'evolve'.
-Cyber Elves, when on a passive continuous use, will float above your head as you move.
Similarities:
-They are fed game 'material' to evolve.
-There are three base classes with three different effects.
-They float above your head.
-Some may attack enemies, some increase resistance, some debuff enemies.
Not quite un-similar, I would think.
@Nick
Sprites will not die. No need to worry that your new, loving dragon buddy will leave your side unless you want him to do so.
NICK LIED
Will enemies attack sprites as if they were mecha knights? Will they be hurt and unusable for the rest of the floor/run if hit by enemies?
Since I'm sensing some PSO Mag-ness going on here.
Could you go in depth a bit more on how to use them? Is there something that must be met before using it? Is there a cool down after using it?
These are really neat.
Will it be possible to acquire every Battle Sprite?
-- Refractionz
When you say
sprites do not perform their skills unless a player executes the skill (via a key press, just like an attack).
does it mean normal attack as in sword/gun/bomb attack?
Or is it something totally new? Like a spell in most games, you press the key for the spell then aim and click once more to "attack"?
/think Can't wait to try it out so I can see for myself what it looks like :D
Estimated open date for Test Server?
1 week? 2 weeks? 1 month? 2 months? half a year? >.< the suspense is killing me!
How much do u think battle sprites will cost ???
-Well snip my snip and snip me a snipper-
Will the starters be starter only? or will the other 2 we dont choose be obtainable later?
It's like you people have never heard of Dragon Warrior Monsters.
Edit: Not saying this as a bad thing, but its hardly unusual. I'm looking forward to it, personally.
I loved Dragon Warrior Monsters back in the day. Played the heck out of it on my GBC in high school :)
"As a sprite levels it will evolve and change its appearance. As mentioned before, what you see in the preview pics are examples of max level sprites. But there are many possible combinations of appearances that a single sprite can achieve. Just like skills, this creates variety as well. " -Nick
Many possible combinations? I'm gonna make all of my sprites Green and Yellow/Orange-ish ^^ (to represent the colors of a papaya^^)
@Nintendomaster
"How much do u think battle sprites will cost ???"-Nintendomaster
Didn't Nick mention that we get them by completing missions? Or have I misread something? :3
@Everyone
The suspense is just too great >.> I want the update to come out noooooow ^^
"Since harnesses change the damage type of a sprite's attack, that means based on how you described the sprites, harnesses would logically only be applicable to drakon."
Nick: All sprites are designed for combat, all have at least one direct damage skill. But of the three starters, the drakon has the most direct damage skills. This is not to say that it's skills ultimately result in the most damage, they are simply the most direct.
Ah, I'd actually read that before but apparently forgot soon after. Thanks for reminding me.
"AND for those who are already in Haven, will they have access to the missions that teach you how to use sprites?"
Vogdammit READ before posting stupid questions please!?
