Competition: Sprite Concepts ~ 10k ce Grand Prize! (Contest Closed - Winners Announced!)

Tdlob here and I'm back with another contest to sate your artistic talents! Featuring the largest payout in SK history, this contest calls upon you of the spiral knights community to put the creative side of your brain to work once again. What will we be doing this time you ask? Bombheads? No. Troikas? Nawh, we already did that one. (Troikamas was awesome btw) It's time that the community be mobilized to look towards the future. The future of this game as a whole and the mechanic that is going to change -everything-, sprites! Yes sprites, the little lovable pets that are going to be following us around, assisting us in combat, prancing around adorably, and being something new and exciting for us to look forward to. Sprites are the future of SK and now's your chance to potentially play a hand in that future.
What I ask of you all, is to draft up a full concept for a pet and its line(s). a full evolution from a Tier 1 sprite, to its median form as a T2 beast, with its final form as a Tier 3 killing (or possibly supporting) machine. Draw up the sprite and its possible evolutions. sketch out attacks, abilities, and possible animations. Write up lore and background on your sprite, placing it firmly within the realm we know as Cradle. Piece together stats, mats, and damage numbers for the newly born being. etc, etc, etc... you get the idea. You guys have until early May to complete your concept, about three months from now. (Likely also the same time Sprites will be released to the game) See below for additional details.
All entries must include:
- Tier One, Tier Two, and Tier Three evolutions of the sprite concept
- A full name and description of each tier level
- Knight Name and date of completion
- 2 - 3 abilities the sprites is capable of, be it offensive, defensive, supportive, combat-based, social-based, or something truly unique.
- The sprite in action: fighting, defending, supporting, or simply interacting with the knights around it. (You're not limited to only one)
Potential Prizes:
- Grand Prize ~ 10k ce
- Two Runner Up Prizes ~ 5k ce (each)
- Most Unique Concept ~ 2k ce
- Best Artistically Executed Design ~ 2k ce

EDIT(1/04/13): Due to the recent overload of homework, I will not be completing my submission. Basically, I am now more or less out of the contest :P
Good luck everyone! ^^
Time to buckle up and actually do a contest.
If I actually get this done....
I've decided on Snipes.
If I ever get this done, I was referred by Xxpapaya.

I'll actually try this one! if i get around to it...

I'd love to enter this, but it will probably be a bit of a last-minute submission. I want to see how they actually work before trying to stat something up.

That's no fun tev, the idea is to use your own idea. Creativity is key on an aspect that hasn't been added yet. Also, this contest is meant to end before the update comes out haha.

Wow, I've managed to turn my sketch into a piece of line art, but the only problem is I have NO idea how to color these type of things XD Or shade..........Has anybody come across any good guides focusing on these two subjects? :3

...Looks like you have a lot to give away! xD
Sign me up... but don't expect anything as of now...
Oh what to do...

This'd be fun (except i'm still a bit iffy about whether or not to approve of the sprites update...)
I might enter :P

Tier 1: Coeloas
Info: a prehistoric Isoran (the knights' planet) creature, recently brought back from extinction with the power of Crystal Energy. Unfortunately, the scientists at Snipe Academy overdid it with the CE, and now Coeloas are more energetic than any known creature. They are always upbeat and their personality will affect even the most stoic knights, cheering them on to victory. they also make great friends, although they can be a bit nosy (both metaphorically and literally; their noses are stronger than a grown Snarbolax's)
Ability: their cheers and upbeat personality will provide you with more energy to fight; namely an attack speed increase very low. Being beasts, they are resistant to elemental powers and will grant you an very low elemental defense bonus.
Picture: http://deathscythe425.deviantart.com/art/Coeloas-353499991
________
Tier 2: Gualon
Info: Soon after the first (revived) Coeloas came into existence, a team of scientists from Skolver Academy had revived another prehistoric creature: Gualon, an evolutionary descendant of Coeloas. This creature is less energetic than the Coeloas, but it makes up for it with pure speed.
Abilities: these creatures are some of the fastest known to Knights (even faster than a dashing Devilite) and share that ability with their companion; attack speed and movement speed are increase by Low. Elemental defense up by low is also granted.
Picture: http://deathscythe425.deviantart.com/art/Gualon-353500371?q=gallery%3Ade...
_______
Tier 3: Ranex
Info: several months after the reviving breakthroughs, a brilliant snipe named Albert Flystein had discovered the ultimate ancient monster: Ranex, a descendant of Gualon and the apex predator of its time. At the time, Albert had been poppin' a smoke, and some of the fiery qualities of the cigar spread into the Ranex specimen, giving it pyrokinesis. These creatures are usually hostile to strangers (not the Strangers, they love them, i mean strangers as in people they dont know), but are fiercely loyal to their friends and companions.
Abilities: Ranex sacrifices the speed of its predecessors, but makes up for it with pure power. While idle, they increase your attack and elemental defense by medium. However, they have a strong ability at their disposal: they can unleash a raging vortex of flame not unlike the Fang of Vog charge. However, after this attack is carried out, Ranex's strength will be depleted, and for 30 seconds you will lose the attack and defense bonuses it usually gives you.

Ummm...
Kaiju, I don't mean to offend, but don't you think your entry is a little...rushed? I mean, we have almost 3 months to work out this thing, and you've finished it in a couple of days. Think of what you could do to enhance your entry. Learn how to use an art program and make your drawings more accurate? Give detailed descriptions of stats and appearances? Redo your lore, adding more details? Btw, Nick said the sprites were machines built by knights to help them...so the whole prehistoric thingy doesn't really work.
I'm not shooting your idea down! I promise! I'm just saying, you could definitely work at it a lot more, and make it a whole lot better.

I know this pic is not qualified because it was produced before the contest but I will leave it here as a sneak peek of things to come.
Skelly themed Maskeraith!

O:
Oh boy, I'm definitely in on this one too! To the idea corner

This post is reserved.
Stay tuned :D

Personally, I think 3 months is a BIT (very very very XD) too long? I mean, a lot of people here (unlike me :( ) can work miracles in just a matter of days. Well, um, 3 months................isn't that a bit too long? I understand that you want to give people more of a time to participate (thus, letting more people know about this contest) but......yeah. I know, I'm not very good at convincing people XD So.......um.....yeah. Full stop. Period. Dot. Pixels.

Whoo! Okay this is my entry.

A Silkwing Based Battle Sprite, for all of your healing and winged needs.
Lets get onto the writing based part of this...
---Tier 1---
-Swilken-
A Proto Sprite which has been exposed to materials composed of Silkwing wings.
---
---Tier 2---
-Swilthea-
A more developed Silkwing-based battle sprite, the cloak draped over this sprite almost feels as if it was genuine silk.
---
---Tier 3---
-Altheawing-
The final stage of a Silkwing Battle Sprite. The cloak is now actual silk and soft as can be, however, don't get too close. You may or may not get blasted with a harsh beam of light, or it might take care of your cuts and bruises, or hurt you some more.
---------
---Abilities---
-Healing Aura-
The sprite follows the knight around and gives off a healing aura that has the regeneration properties to that of a healing pad. Upon usage of this ability, the sprite's eyes will dim in their glow until it is able to be able to heal once more. Once used, no other ability can be used until the cool-down time has passed.
-Energy Beam-
The Sprite focuses the light coming off it's eyes into a harsh laser. This laser is said to mimic the attack pattern of an Energy Turret, and can pierce multiple foes at once. Within the programming for the offensive capabilities is to divide up the energy focused into equal parts so it can be fired off in rounds instead of one big burst, which has the potential to backfire. Once all energy has been removed, the sprites eyes will dim and the recharging process will begin.
-Smooth as Silk-
The Sprite makes the knight move much faster than they normally would. This is possible by the Sprite giving off special spores attached to it's cloak that then affix them self to the bottom of knight's feet. This does not consume much energy, but the particles tend to break down fairly quickly and the knight then is set back to normal speed.
--Back Story--
The medical crew board the Skylark had taken with them healing based sprites from their home planet, Isora. These sprites would serve as nurses or medical aids. They only did small tasks such as check on pateints and do even smaller things like bring them food or medicine. Even on Isora, sprites are highly adaptive. Nearly anything they come in contact with can effect their composition and their apperance. This isn't just for medic sprites however, this applied to nearly every type of Sprite on Isora.
Upon the crash of the Skylark into Cradle, the medical team had found out that the energy that the core gave off jammed the sprites techonolgy and pushed them into a hibernation like state. It has only been until recently that all sprites aboard the Skylark have begun to awaken and help out with their part on this planet. At first, the Spiral Order made these variations of sprites stick to what they do best. Which was at the time, helping out with healing injured knights and medical related duties. Medic Knights had to be very careful with these sprites.
If an injured knight came back with a chunk of Dragon Scale lodged into his or her armor, and the sprite touched it, the sprite would begin to react and transform into another varient of sprite called a Drakon. Certain poisonios materials and viles could turn these sprites into Maskerwraiths. The Seraphynx family came to be when a knight, whom was mauled by a swarm of angry Kats within the ruins of a college, consumed some Kat fur.
The Silkwing based Battle Sprites came to be when someone had came in with an armor infused with Silverweave and various other silkwing-based materials.
Once a sprite touches a bit of clothe from said monster, it begins it's changes. First, the material begins to grow on the sprite. Forming a cowl and small cloak in the starting stages. Facial changes begin to occur as well, two little slits which resmemble eyes begin to form and take shape. Meanwhile, the colors of a deep red and dull gray color are seeping into the cloak and cowl as they expand.
If more silkwing products are coming in contact with the sprite, more changes will occur to it. The cowl and cloak begin to get longer and thicker. The two little slots resembling eyes start to open up and give off a faint glowing light. At this time, the colors are well set in, but, a pattern begins to form along the folds, this pattern is said to be that of a Silkwing.
If even more amounts of Silkwing fabric come into contact with the sprite, it'll begin it's final stages of transformation. The sprite is now fully cloaked and has vibrant colors. The eyes have fulled opened and give off a powerful light than what once shined before. The patterns are now defined and show off their wing-like complexity.
Once the final stages are complete, the sprite then begins to mimic the actions of a Silkwing. This is nothing new however, it was healing allies before, and is doing the same now. However, now it is capable of healing and restoring things that a normal medic sprite could not do, even if assisted by a Knight. With these abilities soon been noticed by the Spiral Order, they gave it the priviledge to be used in battle. If the knight took damage, the silkwing would rush over to it and heal what it could before having to cool itself down. All though, the sprite now does more than heal. It can heal a singular knight, and create a while spread area of healing, similiar to that of a Haze bomb. If the knight that commands the Silkwing to do something more offensive, the Silkwing will simply let out a harsh ray of light coming out of it's eyes. This attack is similiar
to the enegery turrets that are dotted in the Clockworks.
--Favorite Materials--
An Altheawing loves anything fabric-y. So that would be anything ranging from Frayed Fabric, to Silverweaves and Miracloth. The way it consumes it would be that it lays it upon it's cloak and adsorbs it.
However, it does not like messy materials one bit, as for they can stain it's coat and upset the Sprite. These materials are things such as Rocky Cores and Volcanic Irons. Certain things like Gel Drops and Rocky Cores will result in the Sprite turning it's nose away from those grotesque items.
It has been proven that feeding your sprite certain ores will determine the color of the cloak and trim of the sprite. Certain things like Sun Silver lead to a color scheme that would be used in the heavens. Something much more dull like Scrap Metal would lead it to a darker hue. The process of changing the colors of a Silkwing Sprite must be started when the Sprite is just a Swilk, and the diet must be maintained until the final stages of transformation for the desired results.
--End Notes--
Okay, I had a blast doing this. I hope that there are most contests like this in the future.
Also, my apologies for the wall of text. .__.

@papaya the deadline is near the date the pets are supposively released.

Well as I've said I've been thinking of ideas about sprites and here is one of my ideas:
This battle sprite is a close and long range attack type
T1 Ladon is a test inside the lab which used lizards and birds and combined them. It has a skeletal head and two daggers, one on each arm. It also has a sword on its tail.
Its attack is a 3 hit barage on near by enemies and needs a 10 second cool down.
T2 Kaimon evolved from ladon and has a bigger skull with a crooked sword on it tail
Its attack is two slashes with its tail and then a knock back with its wings and has a 20 second recharge
T3 Ryuatsa Sheidon has a massive skull that is more dragon like than bird. One wing is skeletal with dark energy. The other has hundreds of feathers made of tempered steel. Its tail's end is covered with spikes.
Its attack is here

Tier 2: Kage Gunshu http://img203.imageshack.us/img203/3489/002knr.jpg
It is a giant hand holding a eyeball. When it attacks it makes many psychic hands all over to take down an enemy
Tier 3: Kage Tenshi http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/5821/003ophm.jpg
It is a giant eyeball and mouth with shadow wings. It also has two giant hands to attack opponents
Tier 3 Demo: http://img201.imageshack.us/img201/7024/004bp.jpg
Story:
When the advance team made it to the core and started to build a base, they found a small creature with a very ominous presence. A secret experiment was going on to test on the creature. The scientist gave it new powers to absorb monsters in hope to aid survival on the planet.
The experiment went wrong and the creature went berserk. It began to rampage and destroyed most of the lab. The advance team calmed in down. But before they could it destroyed most of the Garrison. So the Garrison and all of the east wing of haven was closed down for repair. TO cover up the experiment it was said the east part of haven didn't exist and workers were only building it now.
After many years the Garrison was rebuilt and open back up. However the lab was still closed. Everyone thought it was closed because it wasn't built yet, however it was closed because new tests began when the garrison opened back up. They did not want the creature to rampage again. So with new technologies they perfected Kage Rei, the new battle sprite.

Shadow Fairy Vixen
Artwork: http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/1268/lineupfinal.png
Backstory:
Not every knight's tale has a happy ending, especially in the case of Vixen. Vixen was a young knight, care free and mischeveous. She almost never paid attention in her training, so the day that the mothership crashed into cradel she didn't have a clue how to pilot the escape craft. Unlike most of the knights who crashed onto the surface of cradel, Vixen spiraled deep into the clockworks. Her craft pick up so much extra velocity that when the pod finally crashed, its safe to say that she didn't survive. What's that you ask? If she didn't survive how is she here before us? Well thats easy to answer, she became a shadow fairy. Whats a shadow fairy you say? Well thats a bit harder to explain. When a person brave of heart, free of fear, and of vast will-power dies before their first battle, they are reincarnated as shadow fairies. Shadow fairies are unique beings who posses dark powers. How these powers develop depend on the will of the being.
Tier 1: Shadow Vixen
Untrained in many of her offensive skills, Vixen relys on her skills in defense. Being a Shadow fairy her determination generates an aura that increases the defense of her allies.
Tier 2: Shadow Guardian
Having spent a length amount of time alongside a fellow knight, she picked up on a few tactics. Her visual appearce seems to have somewhat altered to represent her old armor. When your defenses break she will now stun the enemy for a short time period.
Tier 3: Shadow Enchantress
Realizing her full potential as a knight and as a shadow fairy, she is determined to help her fellow knights using her true power. Vixen now has mastery over her shadow magic, her defensive aura's durations has now doubled, and she can now turn you invisible for a short time period. While invisible you will not take any damage and can walk through enemies and traps unharmed, attacking will remove your invisibility.

T3: http://srw1417.deviantart.com/art/Tier-3-Surgeonite-358408520
T1: Healer: Rides on a knight's back throwing hearts to knights in need. When the carrier shields, the Healer will strengthen the shield occasionally.
T2: Docterite: Now follows knights instead of riding them. Throws bigger hearts and gives shield bonuses to all knights in a colored circle.
T3: Surgeonite: Runs faster than before. Finds knights that need hearts the most and stays with them. Upon command, will follow it's owner. Uses it's clipboard to block some attacks.

In honor of a good knight that we have lost, I present to you: T.D.L.O.B.! The Totally Destructive Little Operating Buddy!
This particular sprite was an idea that was discussed by the hosts of the Arsenal Podcast recently, and as the tertiary host, I've decided to take it upon myself to bring this idea to life. Hope you all enjoy this tribute to Tdlob!
Backstory: After the mourning of a great lost knight, The scientists in the Garisson decided that a tribute must be made in the knight's honor. Using reminiscent data, they made an attempt to create a creature of similar, if not perfect likeness to the lost soldier of the Spiral Order. However, this plan backfired, as the given data only provided a minimized, almost chibi-like creature. Rather than scrap the project, the scientists took advantage of the given hype, and presented the creature as the newest battle sprite, the T.D.L.O.B.!
Tier 1- T.D.L.O.B. Prototype- The standard issue version of the sprite, this version of the sprite resembles the original the least in comparison. Prototype appears as a floating, grey Bombhead mask with miniature knight arms and hands attached to the sides of the helmet. This Sprite utilizes a version of hammer space for its attack, pulling out Troikas to slam down onto foes, or swing in a wide, spinning arc. Scientists are baffled at how such a diminutive creature can spawn such a destructive weapon, but they do not question it; it wouldn't be worth being on the receiving end.
Tier 2- T.D.L.O.B. Mark II- The data that had created this creature has become somewhat unstable, noticeable by the altered color from grey to a faded yellow, with grey highlights. A small fracture can be seen on the left side of the mask, emitting a slightly blue glow, but otherwise the form has remained contained. The sprite's mastery of hammer space has become much more impressive, as it can now spawn not one, but TWO Troikas to attack with. It can still swing them with impressive skill, but now can also throw the Troikas like a large, spinning projectiles. The scientists have become much more aware of the destructive nature of this sprite, but have noticed that the sprite appears much more sociable and loyal to its knight masters. This posed the question: What will happen when the sprite evolves further?
Tier 3- T.D.L.O.B X- The final stage of this sprite's evolution, the X model of the T.D.L.O.B. has come to resemble the original data of the knight the most. The crack that had appeared on the left side of the sprite's head has split open, exposing the sprite's eye. The color of its body has also become a much brighter yellow, with dark, faded yellow highlights. The sprite has become a master in the use of hammer space, and now spawns one of many different altered versions of the Troika that were once seen with the lost knight. The sprite can also now use multiple Troikas at the same time, spawning up to six at a time. The sprite can summon these varied Troikas to slam down around its owner in a circle, or spin around itself and its owner for a period of time. The X model can also summon a single, random Troika to slam down in front of itself with a wide, arcing swing, with a status effect to go along with the randomly picked Troika, similar to the effects of the Sealed Sword. The sprite's behavior now almost appears to resemble a stereotypical knight, even making the occasional salute when it and its master are idle. Also, this particular sprite has been seen crying from the right slit eye of its mask, and staring into the sky along with its crying when idle. This has baffled Spiral Order scientists, who believed that such emotional levels were impossible with the little companions. Further studying of the behavior of Battle Sprites will be necessary to see if this height of emotion is possible in others...
Variation Tier 3- T.D.L.O.B C- Something has gone horribly wrong with this T.D.L.O.B. model. A clumsy scientist accidentally spilled the contents of a Mug of Misery onto this sprite, resulting in a sudden and devious transformation. The soft, blue color that existed underneath this sprite's mask has been replaced with a deep, pixelated black, with a deep, purple eye, opened wide and peeking outside of the mask. This version of the T.D.L.O.B. only wields one model of the Troika, a cursed model, and has revealed that it is much more powerful than its pure opposite version. However, this power has come at a cost; this sprite had become much more reckless and dangerous with its attacks, which resemble the Tier 1 version, but are prolonged and extended. It's attacks also have a chance of inflicting damage on their owners, and even exposing them to Curses. This model can also expel a wave of black, pixelated gas that can inflict stun on surrounding enemies, similar to that of Swarm Seeds. Such a dangerous sprite should never have been released, but it was allowed because despite its violent and reckless actions, they are still loyal, albeit in a more silent and mischievous manner.
Diet: Anything that is used to create a Troika is a lovely meal for this particular sprite, but they most enjoy the more potent and rare materials that make up the composition of the various Troika models that exist. This sprite also seems to absorb Heat a lot more effectively than other sprites, another similarity of this sprite to the knights.
Hope you enjoyed! :D

Story :
4 years before the skylark had crashed...
the famous adventurer mr jones had came back from his adventure to the cradle. mr jones had set out to this adventure almost 13 years ago and when his signal was cut when he landed on the cradle everybody had thought that was the end of him. but he is back with many mysterious things that nobody had ever seen before and his most prized possession, the nightmare mane. it had a powerful aura and when you set your eyes on it you can never seem to look away.
mr frederick is a sprite scientist and he had been very busy with this new sprite. sprites today was used for everyday chores like lawn mowing or cleaning the house but mr frederick knows that there will soon be wars with other countries around this planet and so he had come up with a new sprite. a battle sprite. it is a rather small creature with many weapons. but it is not yet complete. to complete it he needs to find a new type of material strong enough to withstand almost everything. and Mr jones had exactly that. the nightmare mane. and so mr frederick had decided that he needed to steal it or his country might be destroyed in this future war. at 12 o'clock midnight he stole the nightmare mane. he quickly rushed back to his laboratory before anyone noticed and had completed his sprite. it was now working! so he had went to sleep after hiding away this sprite. the next morning he woke up he had heard the news that they were destroying all the sprites around the world ( read Scrillicks post to learn why ) ! so somebody else was designing a battle sprite as well ! and they also found out that the nightmare mane was stolen ( about time ) . 'well i guess there is no more waiting' mr frederick said to himself and he quickly took out the mini shuttle he had made to escape this planet if it was being invaded but not to launch himself but to launch his battle sprite to the cradle that mr jones went to. he quickly put his battle sprite in and set the co-ordinates to go to the cradle. as soon as that was done he quickly drove to a deserted area and launched his little battle sprite away. he thought what he should name it. the nightmare mane had come from the snarbolax and so he thought he should name his battle sprite snarby. 'goodbye snarby! and good luck!' he shouted after it.
the engines roared. the little snarby was very scared. he didn't know what was happening. it had been a week since he was launched and he didn't think that the shuttle would stop. BANG!!! everything went black... when he woke everything was dark except the door of the shuttle that had opened. he walked through it. there he saw a single massive horse like thing that stood on it's two back legs like a knight. it had a sword and a shield. 'hi. who are you?' it said. snarby thought about what his creator had said to him when he was launched. 'my name is snarby' snarby replied, 'what's yours?'. the trojan looked at snarby as if it had asked the most ridiculous thing in the world. 'we trojans don't have names. we are all just called trojan' it had said. 'what are you doing here?' asked the trojan. 'i'm not sure. what are you doing here?' said snarby. 'i am going on a journey to the core.' replied the trojan. 'what's the core?' asked snarby. 'nobody knows. but i'm going to be the first to find out.' replied the trojan. 'why are you on your own? where are your friends? woulds't your friends want to join you in discovering the core?' asked snarby. 'they're too scared. they called me mad for wanting to go there. everybody who goes to the core never returns. that's why they're scared.' replied the trojan. 'then i will come with you!' exclaimed snarby. 'alright then.' and so a new friendship was born.
... they started their adventure. they had to kill many enemies in their way but managed to get past them anyway. they killed the rabid snarbolax, the ice jelly queen, the red roarmulus twins and now they are at their final step to the core... darkfire vanaduke. they battled hard but darkfire vanaduke was just too strong. it had killed trojan. 'TROJAN!!!' snarby screamed. then anger flared inside of snarby and he started to change from the radiation of the core and because of the anger inside of him. trojan had turned to dust and snarby had begun to grow bigger from 1 head to 2 heads to 3 head! he had also grown wings and a tail with a menacing spike ball at the end. with one gigantic fireball he had killed darkfire vanaduke. still in his anger he had flown forward towards the core where he was supposed to complete his journey with his companion, trojan. but trojan had died. he had completed his journey. he had no point in life anymore and his body couldn't control all the power within him. and so he had given up on life. he began to burn up. the core opened to him and just then... he exploded. there was enough energy from that blast to destroy the whole cradle BUT the core had absorbed the blast and had used it to create a new beginning. a new life. the core had created and egg of snarby. when a knight interacts with this egg it will hatch. and that snarby will have no memory of his previous life. but will always be loyal to the knight who allowed him to start a new life.
this egg can only be obtained when you defeat darkfire vanaduke and get to the sanctuary.
Interaction:
the more you befriend this sprite the more powerful it becomes so show it some love!
favourite materials:
it's most favourite material is nightmare manes and the more you feed it to him/her then the more deadlier it's spikes become. it's favourite common material is dark shards which increases his attack. flame souls increase his/her fire ability's. Philoso Feather's help him fly around faster as well as help him to move around more nimbly.
most hated materials:
enjoys pretty much everything except from dynamo's, coils, canisters, cells and all those other things you may find in a workshop as it reminds him of warmaster seerus's lab.
Take note!
this sprite's personality is hugely shaped on what you feed him so if you want him to be angry feed him firey things or if you want him to be evil then feed him dark/sinister things ect. but remember never to feed him any of the things he hates as he could turn on you!
attacks:
Tier 1: bite, small fire-burst, scratch, burrowed spikes, thrown spikes.
tier 2: bite, big fire-burst, scratch, mace tail , glide a short distance, burrowed spikes, thrown spikes
tier 3: bite, massive fire-burst, scratch, massive mace tail , fly over any distance, glare , burrowed spikes, thrown spikes.
attack descriptions:
bite: if you don't know what a bite is go to a baby and put your finger in between his/her mouth.
fire burst: fire comes out his mouth.
scratch: it's deadly claws slice through it's enemies like a knife through butter.
mace tail: tail is in a mace shape which he/she uses to smash his/her enemies.
gliding: floats around the air but gradually falls slowly to the floor.
burrowed spikes: spikes that come out of the floor when he/she digs under it ( just like the snarbolax ).
thrown spikes: spikes that he/she throw at the enemy.
glare: stares at the enemy in such away that it shocks them for a while.
Defensive actions:
tier 1: spike field around you which moves as you move but it will never hurt you. distance half the size of the warmaster rocket hammer.
tier 2: spike field around you which moves as you move but it will never hurt you. distance 1 warmaster rocket hammer, small fire shield.
tier 3:spike field around you which moves as you move but it will never hurt you. distance 2 and a half warmaster rocket hammers, massive fire shield.
Good luck everyone !!!

You know, I had a full idea of a shock sprite, but I just have up on the idea. I had a written description for each of its stages and even done some concept art, but I lost interest. Good luck to everyone in the contest.

Medium: Corel Painter 12
T1- Hitch(-hiker) Hopper
Reduces status effect damage
T2- Scout Hopper
Same as T1 +
Restore health to knight by sucking it from enemies
Flies towards party button if lost
T3- Swift Hopper
Same as T1 and T2 +
Improved flight speed, carries 2 items
Background:
Before the destruction of the Skylark, the Cloud Hopper insects were cybernetically controlled, and used to locate new energy sources. With the destruction of the ship, the durable eggs were scattered across Cradle. While they may be hidden anywhere, there's no need to search for them. They are attracted to the energy knights carry, and when a knight walks too close to an egg they hatch on their own. Unfortunately for the knight, this means he/she will have to care for the young Hopper until it is fully grown.

Knight Name: Scamall
Entry: Isoran Bitewulf (Sanguis-Mordetis Belua Lupus), also known as the Bludwulf, Bloodbeast, etc.
Date of Completion: 23-04-2013
Medium: Written
General History: The Isoran Bitewulf is indigenous to the dark forests surrounding the Isoran kingdom, though variations of the species can be found elsewhere in the world e.g. the mountainous regions of the north and the southern desert, where they have adapted to the harsh conditions. Regardless, each variant of the species ranks high in the local food chain, possessing the tools required to cement their place at the top. During the Liberation of Isora, the Spiral Knights utilised Bitewulves as a tameable weapon against the Morai in an event that would later come to be known as the Night of the Red Fang. Spiral scientists brought with them several Bitewulves to use in the Battle Sprite Initiative, but Skylark's Fall saw their supply become all but wiped out. Fortunately, cloning technologies and genetic research have enabled Spiral scientists to create a new breed of Bitewulves, unique to Cradle.
Extensive genetic manipulation by Spiral scientists have allowed the Bitewulves to bypass evolution, able to grow to resemble their Homeworld relatives that live in the harsh blizzards of the north, the Blizzwulves, the scorching deserts of the south, the Blazewulves, the venomous variant found deep in the treacherous jungles of the far west, the Toxiclaws, and the darkness-inflicting mutation of the dreaded Shadowlands, the Nightclaws. Each of these evolutions take place after the Bitewulf's infancy, and marks a possible second step in its evolution, whereupon they can evolve their new element even further. We will be studying the natural life cycle, as it has been lived on the Homeworld, of the 'vanilla' Isoran Bitewulf, and its eventual growth into the wise and hardened hunter, the Bloodbeast.
----------------------------------------
Bitewulf Life Cycle:
In its infancy, the Bitewulf is not as ferocious or feral as its more mature counterparts, not being remotely scary or alarming in the slightest. Nevertheless, its fighting prowess is to be reckoned with. Two sets of sharp teeth ensure the Bitewulf is well-prepared in advance for a lifetime atop the food chain, the first set of teeth seeing it through its infancy. Its sense of smell is sharp enough to detect the dens of its prey from up to a hundred metres away (even more as it matures), and can assist in tracking both animals and enemies as well as detecting traps. The eyes take longer to develop, sometimes months or even years, but their sharp noses effectively nullify this weakness, and once fully developed, the eyes become a force to be reckoned with all on their own, able to spot prey from a mile away once it reaches adulthood. Its tough hide develops early on in its life cycle, ensuring a higher life expectancy and lower death rate among the species, and its ears can detect sounds on several frequencies, though doing so can have an adverse effect on the animal's mood.
The Bitewulf typically reaches physical maturity at three years of age, in the period of adolescence, having fully developed bones, muscles, and senses, although full adulthood is still out of reach. It is at this time the Bitewulf comes to be known as a Bludwulf, in order to differentiate it from the cub. Having lost its first set of teeth, the nutrients it has been fed by its parents have allowed its new set of teeth to attain a durability akin to certain types of rock, though their length has yet to fully manifest. Its claws also begin to develop, metamorphosing from simple paw claws one might find on a domesticated pet, and increasing in length from up to 15 inches by adulthood. After the Bitewulf has reached adolescence, it has become old enough to hunt for its own food, and leaves its parents' care to seek its own prey. It is at this point in their lives that they are most vulnerable to poachers and hunters, their inexperience and underdeveloped teeth and claws make them less of a threat, though a threat nonetheless. It is not unheard of for a mature adolescent to claim a hunter as its first prize.
Seven years marks the Bitewulf's adulthood, whereupon it becomes recognised as a Bloodbeast. This marks the final stage of the creature's metamorphosis into a killing machine, with claws over a foot long, fangs long and strong enough to tear through flesh and bone, and the strength and endurance only a creature such as this could possess. Indeed, many legends have been passed down from parent to child regarding these animals, some less comforting than others. It is at this age when the creature finds its own territory and settles down by constructing a den, before attempting to find a mate in nearby areas. Competition is common in these parts, with some males engaging in brutal fights over potential mates. It is truly an awe-inspiring spectacle, if you can stomach the sight of blood and torn flesh. Once a mate is selected, the pair return to the den, stockpile food and such resources for the litter they will inevitably create, and commence the age-old ritual to bring about the new generation, continuing the life cycle.
----------------------------------------
Tier-One: Bitewulf
Overview: Utilising state-of-the-art genetics, scientists have managed to recreate the Bitewulf species, granting abilities previously thought impossible under normal circumstances. The Bitewulf cub is the first stage in the creature's life-cycle, and thus, the weakest. Nevertheless, its fighting prowess is sure to prove a boon to any Clockwork adventurer.
Appearance: Do not be fooled by its soft, gently-pointed ears, its light-brown fur, or its cute, fuzzy face, complete with a pink nose, fuzzy muzzle, and whiskered jaw. Do not be swayed by the tiny paws on the ends of its little legs, or its small, bushy tail. Gaze not upon its adorable little tuft of white fur atop its breast, or you will have your gaze drawn to the deadly, piercing stare of its big, dark eyes- OH MY GOD IT'S SO CUTE I WANT ONE!
Abilities and Powers: Despite its cutesy appearance and infant stature, it is no pushover in combat. It will attack foes when it sees them, which can get you into a spot of bother if you wish to remain undetected, as its impulsiveness and inexperience makes it rather hard-headed and prone to attacking without any sort of strategy. Foes are usually caught off-guard by its appearance, which can be a huge boon for both you and your squad.
Other: At its age, it is rather impetuous and brash, but impressionable. Take good care of it, train it well, and you will have a loyal companion once it reaches maturity. Due to its nature, it is not as social as other Sprites. Then again, given its ravenous appetite, perhaps that's for the best. If left idle in Haven, it will lie on the ground, awaiting its next meal, whether it just ate or not. If left idle in the Clockworks, it stands tense, trying desperately to find prey amidst the smoke and noise of machinery.
----------------------------------------
Tier Two: Bludwulf
Overview: As a fully-grown adolescent, while not at its absolute peak, it gets pretty damn close, and remains so until adulthood. What fighting experience it has gained with you has allowed it to better strategise in battle, and your taking care of it makes it easier to work as a team. It sees you not as a parent or caretaker, but as a partner, and reflects the amount of effort you have done to help it do so.
Appearance: Might not be as cute as it used to be, but don't let that worry you. Its ears are now longer and pointier, as well as slightly hairier. Its fur has grown darker, gaining a silver-brown coat that contrasts with the tuft of hair on its breast, which has grown into a unique pattern, usually coloured red. Its paws and limbs are larger and longer, sporting powerful muscles and longer claws a few inches long. The face has also developed a unique pattern, its nose, now black, surrounded by flecks of coloured fur that compliment the overall colour scheme. Say what you want, it is not unfashionable. The jawline has also grown hairier, the resulting fuzz comparable to an adolescent Spiral who refuses to shave to prove his 'manhood'. The eyes show their development, with a distinct iris that adjusts to locate targets. The tail has grown longer and bushier, resembling a Wolver's tail, or one of a similar species.
Abilities and Powers: Some improvements to the naturally-evolved Bludwulf made by the Spiral scientists at the Battle Sprite Initiative include limited health regeneration and enhanced strength, endurance and speed. This compliments the already impressive feats the Bludwulf could have performed naturally, and coupled with its strengthened teeth and newly-gained claws, this is one creature that should not be trifled with. It now obeys commands, and can either be directed to attack foes, or left to do its own thing. It has learned the foolishness of disrupting stealth, as it has now entered the stage of its life where stealth is crucial for hunting prey.
Other: The colours and patterns that define the unique appearance of each Bludwulf can be altered by genetic scientists, though the process is rather costly and slow. Try to pick what you want your Sprite to look like when you metamorphose it to its adolescence. When left idle in Haven, it will sometimes chase its tail to keep from getting bored. If left idle in the Clockworks, it uses its keen senses to try and locate prey.
----------------------------------------
Tier Three: Bloodbeast
Overview: A veteran of the hunt, this monster makes alpha-Wolvers look like frightened cubs. The legends these creatures have spawned rival even the most chilling of ghost stories. It now loyally follows you, and will do so to the ends of the earth. Good thing, too, because you'll need something like this in your arsenal.
Appearance: Its silver coat is lightly tinted with brown, reflecting the hard hide beneath. The tuft of fur on its breast now stands out as a blood red, or whatever the equivalent is on a prismatic level. Sharp, pointed ears seek out the quietest of sounds, able to discern species from breath alone. Its legs stand long, sleek, and powerful, and it stands proudly atop them, equally so. Extendible claws that stretch to over a foot at fullest length decorate the paws, and its tail is decorated with silver hairs, its length comparable to a sword's blade. Its face remains largely unchanged from its adolescence. Sometimes a scar will decorate and add variety, but in most cases the nose and fur patterns remain the same, with just a darker colour tone. The fur around the jaw line now resembles a short silvery beard, reflective of the wisdom it has gained in just four years of hunting. The eyes appear cold and distant to all but those it trusts, and remain ever vigilant for the movement of prey.
Abilities and Powers: What more can I say? At its absolute peak, this thing is a powerhouse. Not much in the way of special abilities or support, but regardless its claws do incredible amounts of damage. Its ingenuity has given it the idea of using its tail as a weapon, which it uses to swat away foes attempting to sneak up on it. The claws are sharp enough to cause bleeding damage that ticks away at the enemy's health over time, and the sight of this creature alone is enough to send the weaker ones running. Its nigh-impenetrable hide and unnatural healing capabilities will see this monster through to a comfortable retirement. As a veteran of the hunt, the Bloodbeast knows its way around a fight, and if left to do its own thing, will either pick off the annoying stragglers, giving the squad some breathing room, go after the big guys and save your party a whole world of hurt, or go for the support classes, like healers and such. Definitely a useful addition to the party.
Other: When left idle, no matter where the two of you are, the Bloodbeast will constantly try to pick up the scent, sight, or sound of nearby prey, by watching for the slightest movements, listening on every level of frequency it can tolerate, and dissecting scents from the open air. The Bloodbeast is always on alert, because a life on the hunt has taught it that prey is never safe from a skilled hunter, and even the most skilled hunter is always prey to what it cannot see, hear, or smell.

Hope you like it! Scamall out.

The Skylark has turned into the Skyark.
(I really want to paint the T1 Bitewulf now)

We're just a few that ADD something to the game, and not just complain.-
Keep up the good work.
Nice work to everyone, though. Good luck. My personal favorites are the Isoran Bitewulf and the Silkwing Sprite.

Knight name : Nomorenubers
Entry : Shuffie !
Medium : Written
Sprite : Construction
Date of Completion: 4-25-2013
Tier 1 - A regular shufflebot that was modded to be your pal! (yes, synthetic life also evolves) Its a good starter sprite, Deals the normal amount of damage a tier 1 slime do but only deals normal type of damage. It only attacks to anyone that tries to attack him , but can be used as a meat shield (poor shuffie) Attack: a spin that does small damage but large knockback ! Can also charge up to perform a double spin.
Tier 2 - Shuffie has now become protective to his owner and has upgraded itself to be a Revengeful Shuffie ! It has spikes now (but still does normal damage) that does damage equal to Tier 2 slimes . When your knight take damage, Revengeful Shuffie will charge directly to the enemy that dealt damage and do a powerful spin! Still, Shuffie only attacks enemies that threat him or his owner.
Tier 3 - Shuffie has upgraded itself to Deadly Shuffie ! It still does normal damage. Shuffie will now charge at the nearest enemy it sees no longer waiting for someone to threat him or when his owner takes damage. He can charge his attack to deal a powerful spin that also releases spikes on to hurt anyone that threat him or his owner (basicly longer range)
Description: A cobalt knight's best friend! (anyone really) Shuffie was a shufflebot in the advance training hall. He was so scared to see all his brothers getting destroyed to knights in training that he ran away to the gremlins HQ. There, he was modded to have artificial intelligence and taught to be loyal to its owner. For some reason he managed to reach haven on its own to find a new owner because his previous gremlin owner was killed by a knight :(
Note: Heh, heh, heh

I wasn't originally gonna enter this, since I thought we had to do some concept arting. And I'm horrible at drawing. But since it seems we can just type up a description instead...
Going for Best Proposed Lore & Background Info. Gonna have to get more creative than usual, though, if I'm gonna top Scamall's entry (which, I should mention, is totally awesomesauce. :D)
So... Yeah. Post reserved for future entry, I guess.

Here's mai entry
Knight: Lordofnecromancers
Entry: Moraian/Spiral Sky Blazer
Date of Completion:
Medium: Writing
Lore:
*Note: This stuff takes place in my own little Spiral Knights world, where there’s a giant intergalactic war between the Spiral Knights and many other alien races, mainly the SK, Morai, and my own little creation called the Vealox. Why? Cause… well, lore. And I write stories, so I need crazy lore like this.*
The Sky Blazer is a bird-of-war used by the Spiral Order for reconnaissance, battle, and for scaring the carp out of enemies. Cybernetically enhanced, they are a mix of the fierce Blaze Hawks found on the Morai home-world and cutting-edge technology and weaponry, fusing flesh and steel to create cyborgs similar to the behemoth Lumbers and Tortodrones. The Moraian Sky Blazer was originally, as their name entails, a powerful war beast used by the Morai against the Spiral Knights. They were used heavily during the Liberation of Ilsola to devastating effect, when large flocks were sent against Spiral forces, their deadly talons downing Guardians to expose the advancing army to Morai Typhoon Fire.
The Spiral Order managed to get their hands on several Moraian Sky Blazer eggs and chicks, after great loss of life during a raid on a Moraian aviary, and began to work on making them fit the Spiral Order’s purposes. Part of the codenamed ‘Battle Sprites Project,’ Isoran scientists tried to create creatures called… well, ‘Battle Sprites,’ that would assist Spiral Knights during battle. The Sky Blazers were only one of many other Battle Sprites, including the Maskeraith, Drakon, and Seraphynx. All were ‘upgraded’ versions of animals captured from various planets around the universe, ranging from the Spiral Knight home-world Isora to the shadowy Xyerion deep in Vealox territory. The Spiral Order’s little project soon led to countermeasures being taken by foes of the Order; fully mechanical Hydra Drones, mini spaceships used to swarm Isoran ground forces and space cruisers, were created by the Vealox, and Lava Sharks were bred by the Morai, released into the devastating Typhoon Fire flows created during the aftermath of a bombardment of Morai Typhoon Fire.
After several years of selective breeding and genetic engineering, the Sky Blazers had changed somewhat significantly. Now dubbed ‘Spiral Sky Blazers,’ they had their blind aggression toned down, and were given more stealthy characteristics, but still retained their sheer power in battle. Their cyborg parts were modified, unlocking enhanced speed, agility, and eyesight, amongst other things. They proved to be superior to the Moraian Sky Blazers, and were used to counter them whenever the Moraian Sky Blazers were used in battle. Unfortunately, the Lava Sharks would just leap out of the Typhoon Fire and swallow entire Spiral Sky Blazers whole, and the Vealoxs’ Hydra Drones would short out the Sky Blazers’ mechanical parts with their ion blasters, so they weren’t all too effective against the other Sprites. But nonetheless, they were still formidable and dangerous creatures to face, and became an important part of the Isoran army.
Several crates containing Sky Blazer eggs were in the Skylark’s cargo bay when it crashed on Cradle. As said eggs had unnaturally tough and dense shells, most of the eggs managed to survive the crash landing (the fact that they also landed in the remains of one of Biscotti’s huge cakes helped a lot). The unharmed eggs were found later during a search of the Skylark’s wreckage, and taken care of in the Laboratory until they hatched. Now, the Sky Blazers are handed out to top-notch Recons, to aid them in their field work. They are loyal companions and will look after the one who cares for it, as they first see him/her as a motherly figure to follow, and later as a hatchling to protect.
Stages:
Tier 1: Sky Hatchling
Overview: Just barely out of their egg, this Sky Blazers has a lot to learn. Although a microchip in its brains allows it access to information about all the attacks and skills they can carry out, along with battle tactics and the like, it is up to you to help hone those skills.
Appearance: A small bird about the size of a Devilite. It is covered in metallic feathers, colored white and yellow on the head, wings, legs, and topside of the body, with brown tail feathers. Underneath the body is a layer of light brown feathers. Steel talons composed of mechanical joints stick out of the Sky Hatchling’s barely visible legs. It has a small golden beak, and a small, beady black eye spots the side of its head. A cyborg eye is on the other side, the metal iris constantly whirring and clicking as it zooms in and out. The bird looks quite adorable and fuzzy, but whatever you do, don’t pet or cuddle it; its steel feathers are sharp enough to give you very nasty cuts.
Abilities: The Sky Hatchling has a small array of abilities than can benefit the Knight caring for it. During mob battle, it will strafe over the enemy, talons sticking out to deal damage to every monster it passes over. When attacking a single monster, it will fire its steel feathers at it, mini pressure-cannons ejecting the feathers out, causing damage and minor knockback. All attacks do normal damage. Passive abilities are the ability to widen your minimap and what you can see to let you see more, as the Sky Hatching’s cyborg eyeball allows it greater sight, which it can remotely channel to your minimap and photoreceptors.
Requirements: Have completed some Sprite Mission, will receive as award.
Tier 2: Sky Blazer
Overview: Congratulations! After much training and field combat, and the simple flow of time, your Sky Blazer has become a powerful creature, a simple Hatchling no longer. Now a young adult, it still has a ways to go before it unlocks it full potential, but it’s getting pretty darn close. Its mechanical parts have also received an upgrade, turning it into an amazing marvel of nature and technology.
Appearance: This creature now looks more noble than cuddly, maintaining a regal air whether standing tall on its owners shoulder or gliding through the air. About the size of a Pit Boss now, its feathers have turned in even more glittering gold and silver, with a bronze underbelly and tail feathers. Its talons and beak have grown longer and sharper, able to easily slice through Sun Silver and Shadow Steel.
Abilities: Along with the abilities carried over from being a Hatchling, the Sky Blazer is now able to emanate a loud, piercing shriek from its recently developed vocal cords and audio box. Combined with the sight of a glittering bird flying at you with high speeds and razor-sharp talons extended, it’s enough to make any enemy stop dead in their tracks, stunned and unable to move. All damage is a mix of piercing + elemental, chance to deal stun.
Upgrade Requirements: Must have access to T2, & a full set of 2-3* gear. Sky Hatchling must have lvl 10 Heat (Yes, these guys do collect heat just like gear). Must pay a fee of 5k Cr & 200 energy and some specific beast & construct based materials to some NPC in the Laboratory for him to upgrade your Sky Hatchling to Sky Blazer.
Tier 3: Sky Screamer
Overview: Your Sky Blazer has grown into a devastating war machine. Now a Sky Screamer the size of a Spiral Knight, it protects you like the way it would guard its own Hatchling.
Sky Screamer: Having two voice boxes instead of one, the Sky Screamer emits a screeching war cry at a ridiculously high frequency that can paralyze enemies with fear. Gold and silver feathers with a bronze underbelly.
Abilities: Same attacks and passive abilities as before, same type of damage. All attacks have a chance to cause stun.
Upgrade Requirements: Must have access to T3 & have a full set of 4-5* gear. Sky Blazer must have lvl 10 Heat. Guy in Laboratory upgrades for you for a fee of 15k cr & 800 energy & various beast & construct based materials.
Other stuffz: During battle, the Sky Blazer will attack whatever monster(s) you direct it to. If you leave it to its own devices, it will attack any monster(s) at random, taking priority on mobs of enemies before attacking single monsters. Keep a close eye on its health bar though; although it has a moderate amount of health, it does not regenerate at all while in the Clockworks. If it dies, you must wait a full hour for it to recover. It is also affected by status affects.
If no monsters are around or you’re in Haven, it will either perch on your shoulder, fly circles around your head, or waddle around on the ground randomly while still following you. Be warned: Sky Blazers do not deal well with Snipes and will chase them away.
NOTE: All stuff under the following line is not part of my official entry. They're just ideas for split status lines that I'd typed up bu decided not to add, but wanted to share anyway.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Phoenix: With tiny flamethrowers spewing flame from underneath its feathers and out of its beak, the Phoenix seems to be encased in flame and is ready to share the love. Red and yellow feathers with a brown underbelly.
War Wraith: Quickly disappearing in a fog of deadly vapor, the War Wraith has poison-laced talons that will infect all it wounds, leaving them shaky and pale as if they’d just seen a ghost. Green and grey feathers with a white underbelly.
Lightning Bird: Surrounded by a cloud of static electricity, the Lightning Bird can shock enemies into submission with its thunderous shrieks. Blue and white feathers with a grey underbelly.
Frost Hawk: Exhaling icy cryogen, the Frost Hawk will batter the enemy and make them freeze in their tracks, in more ways than one. Light violet and white feathers with a light blue underbelly.
I would have thought more entries would have been here by now
