Ok well since my last suggestions post ended up with people thinking I had a sock puppet which I didn't, I'll start out with this.

Hey nick and other game masters, I got some suggestions to help keep players interested.

Now these are NOT original. Last post people kept commenting they weren't original even tho I said they weren't.

I'm thinking new types of pads for example:

* curse pads
Provide a challenge for others while they can learn about it in the training hall.
*stun pads
Same as curse pads but different effect.

Another training hall. I'm thinking blast network training hall and a lockdown training hall.

Reason for blast network training hall: not many people play it and when they do, they do pretty bad.

Lockdown training hall: well it would help players with different classes or being able to work on their favorite classes. Additional to the lockdown training hall: holograms that have certain classes equip and u have to fight them in a difficulty you choose.

1vs1 pvp for colesium: I've heard this from many of my friends and others playing. I think it could give u practice against your friends and others. You can even start a tournament if u wanted. Rewards would be like winner gets 4 krogmo coins or a free weapon as a rare reward. Players get to choose their opponents and the opponents get to choose if they want to fight. There is a 10 min. Time limit like in lockdown. Most damage and kills wins restricted weapons are allowed if the players agree.

Weapons in haven: no u cannot kill people with them or really spam them Polaris for example. Simply for show that's about it.

That's about it for now. Review with other knights and your fellow game masters. I'll take some criticism but no comments that make me feel stupid. Feel free to post ur suggestions as well.

Sorry to be a jerk, but did you even READ the comments in your old thread? Rewards. Don't. Work.
Lockdown pros would just troll the ce out of other people. They would end the match in a flash with their various tactics, and reap the rewards. They would
essentially have endless supplies of Kromgo coins, and gain crowns very fast. Rewards in 1v1 will never work. However, as a more fair reward system...there would be two versions of 1 v 1. One would be casual, the other hardcore. Casual would be simple 1 v 1 matches for fun. Hardcore on the other hand, would require two players to bet either crowns, ce, or items. The said item would be unbound if they bet it. There would have to be some kind of minimum on the crowns or ce bet, because otherwise I am certain there are people who would bet 1 ce or 1 cr and win the other player's likely-more-expensive-item.

Ok I'm not trying to be rude but it would be a balance teir thing u kno? Each player would have close to the same health that way. I was thinking of adding this but I thought it would be kinda common sense. Also there would be no special classes like in lockdown. I like the betting thing though would u keep the weapon u bet or would u lose it completely? Again there are options of what players can choose from for how they want to play.

Though it is against the forum rules to "Re-create threads that have been Graveyarded, locked, or unpublished" doing so is sometimes accepted when the second version has taken feedback into account to refine its ideas. The problem here is you did not adhere to that second part which means all this thread is doing is breaking a rule.

I am going to leave this and that on the coffee table and show myself to the exit. There are kittens that need to be stacked in silly designs.

Oh dear god, not again.

You suggested 1vs1 again, not a wise decision. Curse and stun pads, fine in training hall but not in Clockworks. Lockdown and Blast Network allows friendly-fire, now how are you gonna train if you get killed? Weapons in haven, no again, show-off.

Y not curse and stun in clockworks? I here knights always talking about wanting a new challenge.

1vs1 is just something to help u in lockdown and the clockworks so why not? I mean its not like ur gonna lose all ur weapons or something like that(yes I know bidding sounded good but I'm having second thoughts). It's just a way to kill time and help u with what ur struggling in.

Spiral Knights is a game where it combines technological with medieval prefrerences, I think OOO won't make Cradel that advanced.

Because stun and curse isn't inflicted by natural means. In SK, the technological-medieval theme is also mixed with fantasy, so fire-breathing, ice-making and shock-inflifcting is natural.

1vs1 is just something to help u in lockdown and the clockworks so why not?
1vs1 is different than LD itself, imagine the difference between one knight and a team of them? And how is this going to help with the Clockworks? It's not like you'll encounter hostile knights or something.

P.S. Criticism isn't negativity, it's expressing one's opinion.

Okay, Okay... You have basically destroyed the whole definition of Lockdown.
So, you wanna practice against your friends? Now tell me how there is teamwork involved.

Now the reward system gets very very unbalanced. 4 coins?! Seriously? Honestly I think this calls for farming and exploits. 2 people join a match, one of them leaves, the other is crowned the winner. Repeat till forever.

Here comes the time when you say "Okay, how about removing the rewards" then the 1v1 is redundant.

Then you go again "If one leaves, then both of them don't get rewards" Okay, let's troll. Play for 9 minutes, suddenly leave because you were losing. Or when someone has an absolute need to leave... unfair...

After which "okay, how about a minimum time limit, say 2 minutes, then if someone leaves, the results are just calculated and then the winner is determined" Let me just play for 2 minutes then, each time.

So technically, there are always reasons why LD comes in at least 4v4 and not above 6v6. Too little, friends come and exploit. Too many, gets laggy and the game isn't fun anymore. Never, ever, raise, 1v1, ever, again.

Type it a little nicer, says the guy who uses "u" instead of "you".

In the previous thread you made, I criticized on how redundant the 1v1 is, because it has no form of award for playing against a friend. Now you come up with a reward system, I understood why there was never meant to be a duel among a few people only.

It does not mean we have to discriminate the fact that people below the age of 13 should not be allowed to play. It is only a standard set to prevent kids from being abused, usually through cyber bullying. It does not generally disallow people who do not meet the requirements from playing.

The ToS stated "You must be at least thirteen (13) years of age to use Spiral Knights. You represent, warrant and covenant that you meet this age requirement." Note how it suggests that people "represent" themselves as above the age limit. It means I will be taking you as if you are at least 13 years old, someone who is understandable.

hello again!

curse pads and stun pads: curse and stun are one of those annoying things you don't want in the clockworks. if you are overrun by enemies, those things kill you. so, in training hall, maybe add a curse /stun totem. more like it. maybe together with the arise totem. only suggestions though.
pvp training halls: they are ok, but actually it would be better if they added some actual tutorial. that would simplyfy a bit.
1vs1 pvp: rewards= farm. so no rewards. the bet system is ok, but you must not earn anything else. also, it's practically the same thing as the actual ld/ bn system. and it would be better if it would stay so.
weapons in heaven: allow full inspect. practically it's the same problem.

Stun and Curse traps: Given that there are Stunning 'spikes' in certain LD games, I do not think it would be entirely unreasonable to have some sort of stun trap included in the main game and in the ATH; on the other hand, however, all the current status floor traps we have are all statuses that can come as a stratum theme. That means shock pads, fire, poison and freeze grids. Stun and Curse are not statuses that can be generated as a stratum theme, so it's debatable as to whether they should be available as floor traps.
There is minimal point in having something available, when it will never crop up in that way in the main game. It's like telling people 'look, here's this dangerous thing you have to watch out for, but it never turns up in the game so you don't actually have to worry about it happening like this'. If there were actual Curse and Stun traps commonly available in PvE, sure. But there aren't. Stun traps are only currently there in PvP, so I suppose you might be able to consider having them. An alternative would be having caged Carnaverons and Dust Zombies constantly using their breath attacks, which would be roughly equivalent. - 1

PvP Training: Having some way of new players to experiment with PvP is good. AIs tend to be immensely stupid, however. Maybe a free version of LD that lasts shorter than an ordinary game, but has no fame, crown or Krogmo reward for winning; it would be a better way of letting people learn what the game is actually like. BN is somewhat easier to simulate with AIs; there are already Bomberman games out there. + 0.5

1v1 PvP: I'll pass, thanks. I'm pretty sure there are a large number of people who do not want to be spammed with 'challenge' messages. Besides, it would probably turn into a contest of 'who has most UVs and health trinkets'. Like LD but with no cooperation required. Taking 10 minutes just to fight one person over and over again is a definite no-no. Giving more krogmo coins than standard LD is also a definite no-no. Spam 1v1 PvP games with your alt for instant tokens and awesome rewards! - 1

Weapons in Haven: Why would you want your weapons to be carried about in public? You carry weapons about when you're worried about being attacked, not where you're safe. You can already look at people's loadouts some of the time if they choose to have it visible. Having weapons constantly displayed seems to be for the sheer sake of extra epeen from my perspective. - 1

Also, people will be more likely to take you seriously if you don't use text-speak contractions all the time...

Whilst I agree with you on principle, I'd like to point out that the rest of those pages are mostly Darkcub's thread and other such things which were people having miniature duels in LD games for some reason that is inexplicable to me. So it's only been suggested maybe 100 times after I looked through the search results. Also, it isn't exactly intuitive for newcomers to use Google over the forum search bar, which is utterly pants.

Not that it makes the idea any better...

Stun and Curse traps

Why so much hate for these? I think this is actually a pretty good idea; sure, Stun and Curse can get you killed really fast by a mob, but Shock is worse, even than Curse (with Curse you can still Shield Bump at the right times, with Shock... you'll try to bump, spasm, get surrounded by those Volt Knights, get shocked again...), to say nothing of how easily you can get destroyed at full health by a Freeze trap. As for their not appearing... well.

Let's look at Graveyards, where monsters fear to tread, mostly because of the Knights that breeze through them like any other level. Why not replace the spikes with maroon "sinister mist" traps? It deals Shadow damage with a high chance of Cursing any poor sucker that doesn't watch where they're going. Not enough to make them difficult, but it's a start.

As for stun, who said traps all had to be floor traps? Large swinging pendulums in the Clockwork Tunnels would suffice; they could swing from one side to the other every three to five seconds, causing heavy Normal damage and strong Stun to any poor sucker that didn't time it. Rewards timing, which you better have anyway or you'll never make it to Tier 3! Why are they there? Let's say the Gremlins hook them up to the main circuit to act as traps while generating emergency power supplies for use in the event of a generator crash. Multitasking. Smart Gremlins are smart.

PvP Training

Sounds tricky to implement, and as Aureate said, AIs have this bad habit of being stupid. (Just look at Fire Emblem, with its enemy axe fighters that try to attack Lyn when she has a 100% chance to dodge the attack and then another 100% chance to counterattack and tear them apart in two shots.) That said, it'd be a nice thing to have, so newbies come in prepared for Coliseum games and know something of how to contribute.

1 vs. 1 PvP

Should not have rewards. Otherwise, I could just open up my brother's account that he never uses anymore, put it in the wimpiest gear I can find to fit it in the same tier, and beat the crap out of it repeatedly, and never have to set foot in LD or BN proper to get myself that Triglav recipe. Betting on rewards, however, would work; in that respect, it would be much like RuneScape's Duel Arena, except more fun because Vortex.

Aside from that, I pointed out another problem with 1v1 PvP in the previous thread: it would take fifteen seconds to load and ten seconds to end. Get around this and don't give rewards and we're good.

Weapons in Haven

I don't think anyone expected you to be able to kill anyone with weapons in Haven. No, my worry is the lag issues that will inevitably result. People complain of the lag and screen flash caused by one guy with Nitronome. Imagine what would happen if a group of 100 people decided to troll Haven by dropping Nitronomes and Big Angry Bombs everywhere, with another group of 50 aiding them with Polaris. The lag would be horrendous, and all the really bright red and blue and green flashes would give someone a seizure.

Wearing them at your side, of course, is OK; I for one would really like to be wearing four different Vaporizers at my belt, and the gunslingers among us would find it really awesome to have their Antiguas or Alchemers or whatever in holsters at their sides. But keep them holstered. We don't want the Symphony of Nitro, a quartet is enough.

EDIT: Oops, you pointed out you couldn't spam them. Okay, good.

Reason for blast network training hall: No, Blast network was a copy of another game. (We don't need a BN training hall)

Lockdown training hall: I believe it's been suggested before I still say no.

1vs1 pvp for colesium: The whole point of lockdown is to work as a team.

Weapons in haven: There is this thing called "Inspect" (If the player doesn't allow full inspect they have the rights for privacy)

PvP(LD/BN) training hall
Sounds good, but you need details. How would BN training work? How would LD training work? Would LD training only be for fighting, or would it also explain and demonstrate point capture mechanics? I hope it wouldn't be all fighting, that just further dumbs down the LD playstyle. How would you prevent people from using this instead of normal LD? How would you program the holograms to be good enough to fight knights?

@svanto ill take a look at it

@klipik thanks for the rates still trying to figure out the hologram things. the training halls teach hoow to use the boost or cloak and so on. it shows like a tutorial of it. shows u certain ways u can fight and stuff like that.

By the same logic, if you don't like me coming over to your house and defecating on your carpets that you've just cleaned, don't clean the carpets. If you don't clean the carpets, or even look at the carpets, the smell will go away on its own.

Not that we are scolding you or making you feel stupid or anything, but if people disagree to your suggestions, you should accept it.

@Arkate You shouldn't be disagreeing without proper and legitimate arguments at hand. It is just as much as a claim, but without solid proof that your opinion on these suggestions hyiaku gave are valid.

Welp.

I've been watching.

Consider the suggestion flawed. After you made a new one of the same type despite having an arguement. Look. Most of the suggestion is a NEGATIVE. People find it either unessisary, or bad. They made it clear on the last one.

Exept curse pads. Meh. Considering that there's text explaining how most statuses work, I knew from the get go what curse was like. Could be useful for the boneheads that we call our newbs.
