As you walk through the Haven arcade, you notice a stranger you haven't seen before. He seems almost sad as he stares through his mask over into the clockworks. You approach, but it is a long time before he responds. "Sorry, little one. I did not see you there. I am rather... preoccupied, by my thoughts." You ask him what he was thinking about. "About this world, and the lives that went into it... there is a reason, it is called Cradle, you know..." He pauses. "I am the old stranger, Tal, and I will tell you a story if you return to this spot, same time tomorrow. Do you wish to know the truth?"

This long Fan-Fic tells a tale, of the history of the universe, and of Cradle, Almire, and the three tribes of magic.

What the *BEEP* is this nonesense?

You want to know? Respond saying you want more, and it will come. If you are here because of the apps, only once I start the story will apps be accepted.

So, who wants more?

EDIT .1:
Part 1 of Chapter I has been added! See what you think!

EDIT .2:
Chapter I has been Finished, and I'm now accepting Apps! However, you will not be able to control your character. I will control him, but you can suggest what he would.

The story is in the times of Almire. Characters should have dark age equipment, and be friends of/other knights.

Also, from here on out, the story will be told from the main character's view. Tal will still be telling it, but it will read more like a book.

EDIT .3:
I've added the three character apps for the main characters, Torin, Elspeth, and Fabian. Below are a list of accepted character apps, with the name of the player who added him after.

Vanglan (Inferno-Forum)
Lord Kalem Singird (Lord-Hood)
Lady Aria Azalus (Kaijuhunter)
Xylin Racksha (Ember-Break)
Perri ???(Ember-Break)

EDIT .4:
Part one of Chapter II is out. Note, I am still accepting apps, but only for so long!

EDIT .5:
Apps are closed for the time being. Wait around though, there might be another chance!

EDIT .5:
Chapter II is out in full. I'll try and keep 'em coming, though I am working on a total of 3 different stories at once, so give me some time.

EDIT .6:
Chapter III, the first chapter in part I: The Beginning of War, is out! Check it out below!

EDIT .7:

Seems interesting.

This story should have some potential. I'd like to see more of your writing style before I make a solid decision, but this is pretty good. I want to see more. Good luck with ur fanfic, and congratulations; you've made a follower out of me.

@Kaiju

Hey, thanks! My family looked at it, and I agree with them; the ending was kinda less then what it should be. It was spur of the moment thought to post this story that I had plan now, but I've edited the ending and fixed some grammar issues, so. There you are! I hope to post tomorrow, but we'll see! Thanks!

Chapter I, part 1

You start heading towards the stranger the next day. "It is good to see I have an interested mind. Then let us start. The story begins where all stories do in truth; the beginning of time. Before our time and our universe, there were the gods. These gods, however, were as selfish as we are... at times. They did not rule over only one thing each, but each helped everything. And it came to pass that the god Thaysar, had the vision to make the universe. So him, and his lover, Gensar, made the universe. And there were three beings whom Gensar gifted with magic; Vog, who would lead the Wolvar tribe, Margel, who would lead the Kats, and Thaysar, in human form, who went down to the world he made to aid the Owlites in their start.

"But a darker time came. Vog and Margel embraced the dark, and they started a war with the gods. The Owlites aided the gods in the fight, till it came down to the final battle. During the battle, Vog dealt a greavous wound to Thaysar, one, that a god could recover from, but not a mortal. After he died, the battle was won, and Gensar wept for a year. Her tears fell from the sky, and became the substance known as the Maiden's Tears.

"Vog was on the run. The Kats had been imprisoned, as well as most of the Wolvars, but Vog and a handful had escaped. in 25 years, when he was caught, Gensar poured out her wrath. It was then that the four curses on Vog were laid. She said that the Kats would be cursed with eternal life, and that after death, they would be turned to beasts, unless they repented. Very few did, however. She cursed the Kats again, saying they would biring their own doom upon themselves. She cursed the Wolvars, turning them into the Wolfers you fight today. But Vog had enchanted himself, such that he remained in sentient state of mind. But his spell backfired, and it burned him with the fires of the burning abyss. He was imprisoned in an ice star, a meteor made out of ice that burns the skin. And lastly, Gensar stated, that her lover would return, reincarnated as a mortal. Most thought it was none sense, but, you'll have to wait and see. Tomorrow, I will continue my tale."

Another good fan-fic...er, role play.

The reason I changed my picture is because of my new character Liminori's role play, the Proto Wars. It looks like it could have some potential, but we'll see! LINK: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/83685

Huh.

This roleplay has good promise.
Keep up the good work!

It isn't exactly a Role-play... it is fan-fic, however, people will be able to add characters to the story soon.

P.S. The next part (2/2) of chapter I should out tomorrow... stay tuned!

Chapter I, part 2/2

You approach the stranger, Tal, again. He continues without response to your presence. "It was years later when Margel obtained the Book of Dark Rituals. With it, he went to war with the owlites. He opened it in battle, and summoned the Legion of Ur. They fought, and destroyed both Owlites and Kats. However, when only three Owlites remained, they imprisoned the Trojans, as you know them, within the
Underworld. These owlites waited, for they were to aid when Vog returned. They watched as nations rose, and fell. Finally, they saw it; the glorious kingdom of Almire. Still, they waited another 120 years before the found him...."

what? That's it?"

No, but now the intro is done. We can get to the story. Meaning yes, Apps are open! Details are above, in the second edit.

Once I have a character or two, then the second chapter will come. Stay tuned!

What kind of characters are you looking for?

No, really.

Tedme's picture

A THREAD NEVER DIES!

Whelp, as I said, I want Knights of Almire/friends of the knights.

What does this imply?

Knights of Almire are one of the few things that aren't corrupt at the moment. They are heavily equipped, some times with a mount (of your choice), and are honorable warriors, rarely cheating (though this is a growing strategy, with the corruption of Almire).

Friends of the knights are more custom, and can include footmen, friends outside of battle, and even squires. Whatever the case, no character should go beyond the knights' strength. For the knights' strength, think of a 4* knight with a mount and lower tech gear.

NOTE: I do NOT want any over arching characters used in other stories. They are usually more powerful then should be, and, no offence to those that use them, often overshadow a story.

Lastly, character types, there should be one who appears loyal at first, but will betray. (If I don't get any like that, I'll pick a character to do that.) The other character type I want to see is a Loyal "Scrapper." (Scrappers use a small, usually sword-like weapon to get close to enemies where their foes can't do anything, but the scrapper can wreak havoc.) Besides that, go for it. Make what you want. Thanks for asking.

Characters! I need you!

While waiting for character apps, I've decided to put up the three first characters in app format....

App #1:

Name: Fabian Blueshire
Age: 43
Status: Farmer
Appearance: Fabian is about 5'6" in height, brawny, and blond. His eyes are blue, with a small scar running down into his right eye (his right eye is completely white).
Bio: Fabian is a very unlucky man. He traveled until the age of 20, when he was framed for a crime he didn't commit. He settled down, taking the name Fabian Blueshire. He got married, and had a daughter, named Elspeth. However, about two years later, his wife died. At the time he was 27 years old. At the age of 40, he was found by Vanaduke, who was still searching for him for his "crimes." At the time, a new found friend of Fabian, Torin, paid for the man's ransom. Since then, Fabian helped Torin in anyway he could find, even going to war with him.
Equipment: Short Sword, 100 Almirian Seals (about $1000), Walking Stick.

Okay, that's the first. I will add Elspeth and Torin later!

Lord-Hood's picture
Lord-Hood
app

Name: Lord Kalem Sengrid

Race: Knight, but, well, read on...

Gender: Male

Age: 22

Arsenal: Uses whatever he is issued from the Great Colony, but has a gremlin upgrade of a Polaris fused to his right arm, which he lost after he was abandoned in the clockworks by some other knights, he can, however detach the gun and replace it with a highly advanced gremlin prosthetic hand. His armor is usually Armor of the Fallen type armor that looks like Dragon Scale armor with volcanic Dragon wings that he can fly for a short time with and a Crown of the Fallen with military knight vision goggles, he uses an upgraded stalker recon shield. Some have reported his eyes turning black, although it is unknown whether or not this is just some sort of gremlin made lense.

Characteristics: Takes what he wants and flattens anything, or anyone that gets in his way, he is a brilliant tactician. While he avoids battles where the odds are badly to his detriment, he is ruthless in every way, he has no care for knights and wants them exterminated, he does not think of himself as a knight, but as a gremlin, and the other knights see him that way too.

Bio: When he was young, he was taken out on a training expedition by some other knights, but when they were ambushed by jellies, the other knights left him behind thinking him dead, which Kalem saw as a betrayal. With insufficient armor, and outnumbered, Kalem fought his way through the jellies, but was eventually defeated, losing part of his arm to a spike jelly in the process. A stalker gremlin from the Crimson Order found him, however, and brought him to a gremlin city, where he was taken care of and his arm repaired by a Crimson Order warmaster, named Seerus. He never forgot what the knights did to him and swore to level Haven one day. He eventually became very powerful in the crimson order, becoming a Warmaster himself as well as an accomplished assassin and spy, thanks to his Stalker training. He takes his orders directly from King Tinkizar and allows nothing to get in the way of his orders. The knights placed a bounty on his head Dead or Alive, but he has managed to elude all of his would-be attackers, killing several of the knights. He isn’t just a mindless killer though, like some other gremlins, rushing to attack any knight they see. He will watch them from a distance, find out what they are doing, and THEN kill them. A few powerful knights can overpower him, but few have escaped him.

Role: bad guy, you decide what specifics

Affiliation: Great Colony

Additional Facts: Using his alchemy skills and his training from gremlins, he crafts powerful shadow resistant armor for the gremlins under his command. It is whispered among gremlins that he has two personal aides, both stalker gremlins, at his side always.

Suggestions: I'd rather he not die, but whatever

Tedme's picture
Tedme
um....

I don't think you understand. This story is set about 4,000 years before the game Spiral Knights. The spiral order hasn't even been formed yet. You could have a similar story, but with the knights of Almire, and involving the gremlins which, at this point, have the same crazy tech, but aren't evil, per say. The gremlins vary, and some are evil, but most will help. I can also make a way that he won't die, but we'll see.

Anyways, Elspeth....

App #2

Name: Elspeth Blueshire
Age: 19
Status: Farmer
Appearance: Elspeth is about 5'2" tall, with long black hair. She has green eyes, a small burn mark on her left cheek, and is usually smiling.
Bio: Elspeth hasn't had too exciting of a life. However, it started to speed up after her father was found by Vanaduke. When Fabian went questing with Torin, Elspeth joined. She quickly became skilled with the bow, though after she was almost killed on one of her quests, Torin told her that she couldn't come on any more... what she wouldn't give to go on one more...
Equipment: Bow, 50 Almirian Seals (about $500), an Aethyll (a horse-like mount with black fur and ram horns.)

Torin will come later.

P.S. The way this story is going to work is it will be set during the kingdom of Almire. Vanaduke is ruling and is still a human/Almirian/etc. Your character will work, Lord Hood, but you'll need to adjust him to the times.

Derpuraptor strikes back

I guess I could make an application, I like the story.

Name: Vanglan
Age: 87
Status: Leader of the Tortodrone Tribe
Appearance: A bulky Tortomega (Tortodrone with a Purple design, I guess?) with a head/face capable of showing emotions. He is twice the size of a regular Tortodrone.
Bio: A Tortomega made by Gremlins made to lead the Tortodrone Army used for defending the Great Colony (Or not so great at that time...?). Due to an unknown virus in the Gremlin systems, all Tortodrones have gotten actual minds and lifes, wanting to escape and live their lives. The virus also touched him, and due to being the only Tortomega all Tortodrones started thinking of him as their leader. He and his Tortodrones escaped from the Colony and made themselves home at the Aurora Fields (What will later become Aurora Isles) He is responsible for producing more Tortodrones. He can't age due to his robotic body, and is "in perfect shape" if you can describe a robotic lifeform by that. Loves nature. He unwillingly joins Torin because it's the only way to save his tribe from destruction. (You can do the thinking about this.)
Equipment: Self-defense blasters built into his arms.

Tedme's picture
Tedme
mm-k.

that will work perfectly. He won't be there at the start, but I'll find a way to add him in. Thanks for the Appy!

Also, later today, I might be able to post Torin's app. We'll see.

Tedme's picture
Tedme
woo...

got back to this quicker then I thought I would! Whelp, as I said, Torin, Knight of Almire!

Name: Sir Torin Woodrite
Age: 20
Status: Noble
Appearance: Torin has a more youthful appearance, with brown hair and eyes. However, as a knight, he is incredibly fit, and stands about 5'9" in height.
Bio: Torin, since the age of 14, has lived the life of adventure. While his story took him passed many, the one who he knows best is Elspeth. Him and her would be married, but as a noble, it would be close to a scandal to marry a farmer. What will our hero do...?
Equipment: Troika (not as worse for wear as it is in the game), 500 Almirian Seals (about $5000), About $60 worth of assorted coins from varying cultures, Crest of Almire Shield (not upgraded by the Spiral Order yet, so no personal force field. Also, it is white, and matches the Almirian Crusader set), Almirian Crusader Armor and Helm, a Veccell (A large dog like mount with horse hooves and piercing green eyes. It's name is Netrule), Maiden's Tear (Bought by Elspeth after she made a lot of money on one of they're quests)

EDIT:
Sorry, I had to correct his gear. I think it's good now.

P.S. Still debating weather or not Fabian should have a mount, and if so, what? Vote for me on what you think.

Usevnsevnsixfivfor's picture
Usevnsevnsixfivfor

Name: Mark

Age: When the war ends Mark will be two. And mature. For an Ironwood Sentinel.

Bio: When the gremlins began making Constructs for an army in fear of the wolvers, twelve Ironwood Sentinels were created. These were programmed to create offspring within time. When the gremlins became evil, five of the six families joined the gremlins with the other family fleeing. All Ironwoods were destroyed. Except one. His name was Mark due to the large scratch on his arm, suffering the least damage than any other construct or gremlin in the war. Raised in Emberlight by foster gremlins, he became quite strong and was a big help to the town. He was accepted to do missions in the clockworks in non-gremlin areas (due to all gremlins knowing the war).

Equipment: Mark can slam his arm on enemies, using his "axe" for piercing damage and the back of his "axe" for elemental damage. He chooses the damage type by what the enemy is weaker to. He can pick up enemies and throw them at other enemies for a mix of normal and the type of damage the thrown enemies deals if the thrown enemy unless the thrown enemy is a Giant Lichen Colony, Giant Green Jelly, Lumber, Battlepod, Tortodrone, Trojan, Almiran Crusader, or a non-gremlin boss. He can pick up a Gun Puppy and have the bullets programmed to be able to damage anything, excluding natural terrain. He can also do this with a Love Puppy and have a Love Puppy kept until the end of a level.

TO PREVENT THE STORY FROM BREAKING PLEASE DO NOT INTRODUCE MARK UNTIL THE GREMLINS BEGIN MAKING CONSTRUCTS AND HAVE THE WAR!!!!!

Tedme's picture
Tedme
um....

I'm not sure if I'll be able to work Mark in, but we'll see. Most likely, the farthest this story will go is to...

MINOR SPOILER ALERT

Cradle's creation.

SPOILERS END HERE

Anyways, the point is, the story will have no connection to the Spiral Order.... Yet... if this one goes over well, I'll make a sequel. But we'll see.

Any mentions of knights in my app could refer to Almirians. Although I don't know if my knight is the kind of character you want.

@Lord-Hood

He isn't the character I had in mind, if I need to I can make more, though if you want him in the story (as a reappearing villain), it will work fine.

If I don't get another app of a knight, I'm gonna add one or two tomorrow.

BACK... A THREAD NEVER DIES!

whelp, next app.

Name: Sir Dag Teland
Age: 32
Status: Noble
Appearance: Dag is thin, but very swift and still quite strong. He has dark brown eyes, blond hair, and stubble. He talks slowly and tends to know more about battle tactics then the others.
Bio: Dag grew up with Torin, but his defining moment was when he was sent on his first quest before knighthood. On his journey, he went with someone that changed him. He hasn't said who or what, but he is definitely different...
Equipment: Angelic Raiment, Scary Skelly Mask, Avenger, Grand Flourish, Wyvern Scale Shield, Aethyll (same as Elspeth's)

Kaijuhunter's picture
Kaijuhunter
App?

Name: Lady Aria Azalus

Age: 19

Status: Noble

Appearance: shoulder-length curly black hair and blazing amber eyes identify Aria very well. She sports a scar on the left side of her upper lip (like Ezio!) and has a defiant look about her. Her build is curvaceous and her breasts are quite enviable in size. They are a feature that Aria hates about herself; they slow her down in a fight and are like a pervert-magnet. Despite her appearance, she is incredibly strong and once beat a Trojan at arm-wrestling with ease. Fun fact: although most of her gear is stashed inside of a gold chest at home, she is never seen without her crossbow with her.

Personality: Aria is kind of like a gender swapped Ezio. She's quite the skilled seductress, and enjoys fighting because of the adrenaline rush. She can be serious at times, but is usually content with being the hilarious girl that everyone loves hearing stories and jokes from. She is admired for her strength and battle prowess, but is also surprisingly intelligent.

Bio: a noble whose father is Vanaduke's cousin, Aria is naturally a very important figure. She excelled at combat since a young age and decided to join the prestigious Crusaders once she became old enough. She grew up along with Elspeth, Torin and Dag, becoming fast friends with them. When not on duty, she is usually seen chatting with her uncle Vanaduke or venturing outside the walls of Almire to play with the wolver pups. Fun fact: she was one of Elspeth's bridesmaids at her and Torin's wedding.

Equipment: A humble and frugal, but still beautiful short blue dress and golden necklace when not on active duty. When she is serving, however, she wears a more feminine, lightly armored -albeit sometimes revealing, - version of the Seraphic gear, so as to be more speed efficient. She boasts a Cold Iron Carver, Final Flourish, and Avenger, along with a Crest of Almire to identify her as one of the legendary elite of Almire- the Crusaders. She also has two large scabbards at her hips which can store several weapons and act like a Striker Booster, so that is how she manages to carry all her weapons at once and still maintain her astonishing speed. It's powered by an old-fashioned mixture of powerful gases (Almire has not discovered the concept of CE, or even mist energy for that matter.)
Okay, you caught me. In referencing the 3D Maneuvering gear from Shingeki no Kyojin. Sue me. It's amazing.
Her weapon of choice is the Flourish for its higher speed, maneuverability, and damage, but she will often use her crossbow -which is modified with a primitive scope capable of hitting a target effectively at a 50m range- as well. Although she is a skilled shot with the crossbow, she will often use it in tandem with her Final Flourish in order to have more options in a fight. Her favorite method of attack with the crossbow is using it to sweep enemies off theor feet, then deliver a killing shot.

In addition, Aria's crossbow is also easier to reload, taking only about 6 seconds to effectively place the bolt in and correct the mechanisms of the weapon.

um....

Just a few things that need changing, but yes, she is accepted.

What needs changing?

Ok. Well, first of all, the jeans and tank top. It is ok to have normal clothing, but it is medieval, so that doesn't work to much. Also, Torin and Elspeth are not married.... yet, but well, you'll see.

I like the character, and will accept it, but it needs a few changes, that's all.
Thanks!

Derp.

Okay, I edited it. Aria wears frugal, simple clothes, not modern ones. By the way, I know Elspeth's and Torin aren't married yet. You specifically stated that their marriage occurs later.

Edit: by the way... I added another weapon to her arsenal. Crossbows for the win! Also added a special surprise

Chapter II, Part 1/2

Elspeth sighed, checking the time again. It was more then half an hour after dinner. One thought was filling her head. Where was Torin? She had invited him to dinner and, as normally, he hadn't showed up yet. "Oh come on, can't you show up on time, for once!?" "I Believe he's training with Lady Azalus and Sir Dag..." Fabian said, with a smirk. Elspeth sighed and went to get her mount. After a fifteen minute ride, she found herself entering the gate to the Capital of Almire. She rode through the streets, and quickly came to the knights' training ground.

Torin rolled to the side, dodging Aria's attack with her Avenger. As he rolled, the Maiden's Tear gem on a small chain around his neck, rolled through the mud. He stopped for a bit, to walk over and talk to Elspeth. As he walked, he thought about the gem. How it was like Almire. How the great kingdom had fallen, and been corrupted, like the gem thrown in the mud. "You missed dinner... again." Torin sighed. "Yeah, sorry about that." “So, that’s it for today?” Aria sighed.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
After dinner...
Torin stood in blackness. Suddenly, he saw a figure in the distance. She moved slowly towards him. She was young girl with an athletic build, carrying a large oak staff. On the tip perched a snipe. She smiled, and Torin suddenly noticed she stood less then 5 feet away from him. “Your world is falling, friend.” Torin didn’t know why, but he found himself kneeling. “Your only hope are the remaining Owlites. Head towards the North, and you will find them.” Torin was confused. “Wait, how do I know-“
Torin opened his eyes.
App for a Person/Knight/THINGY!
Well, even though I say Person/Knight/Thingy I really mean more of a Blacksmith/tinker. Anyways... Here it is!
(Side note: You can make Xylin either gender. I'm not picky in either role, the persona won't change by gender. You can even make it a character that no one really knows the gender of.)
Name: Xylin Raksha
Age: Unknown, assumed to be around 14-15.
Status: Blacksmith with a smal amount of martial training, although Xylin would prefer to stick to the Workbench than the front lines.
Bio: Xylin was found in a crate of weapons wrapped in leather. The weapon crate had been recovered by some wreckage not far off of the Almirian city. The bodies found near the carriage were torn apart, probably by beasts. The ones driving the cart were just simple merchants, so it is assumed that Xylin was a child of one of the merchants. That or one of the weapons to be delivered. Either way, the Blacksmith who found Xylin (which you CAN make as a character if you want, but it isn't exactly needed) within the crate adopted the child right away off of a "Gut feeling only those who tend to the deepest of the forge's fires would know." Xylin was then raised with a natural talent for making and repairing weapons and has invented many modifications to the armor many Almirian Knights use to this day (and by "to this day" I mean the past, not as in the present with the Spiral Order and such). A notable contribution is the rotating and automatic creation of wheels in Wheel Launchers, which Xylin can create quite quickly even on the field (but in a much smaller scale).
Appearance: Xylin's eyes are a deep gray with a slight touch of Amber near the pupil. Xylin also has extremely dark (almost black) Red hair from tending the to the forge for so long, it is usually cut short as to not catch on fire or get in the way during his/her work. Around 5" (a smaller type of character, you can change the height as you wish) with a small frame, wears a Mask over his/her lower face (nose down to chin) which modifies his/her voice and protects him/her against any fumes that may come from the forge. Despite most other Blacksmiths only wearing this mask while forging, Xylin seems to have taken a liking to the mask and never takes it off.
Usually wears a traditional Blacksmith Apron over simple clothing, the top piece usually having a hood to block out the searing sun during the evenings. Xylin usually carries around a variety of tools and materials just in case someone needs a quick repair, but most of his/her belongings are stored near The Forge.
Personality: Xylin is a character of few words when it comes to anything other than weapons or The Forge, of which he/she is always willing to share his/her wisdom in the ways of the craft. But even then Xylin doesn't speak much, often staring up at the clouds or tinkering on pieces of equipment in a secluded area. If there is a subject Xylin does not know about he/she will not ask about it as to not seem dull or to drag the conversation on too long... But will secretly crave for an answer, only asking if this craving is too much to bear. Xylin is quite loyal when you get close enough to him/her.
Equipment: In case of battle, Xylin isn't just going to sit on his/her head and wait for everyone else to finish the job. He/She is equipped with an experimental Saber (which would later be know as an early form of the Winmillion) that releases a small amount of intoxicating gas upon enemies which can usually put them to sleep. This gas has a limited supply and needs to be refilled (like how a gun needs to reload) but the weapon itself can be used without the gas. Instead of the wind-ish circle at the end an Orb holds the gas. He/She also carries around an expandable medium sized Wheel Launcher kit containing a maximum of 8 enlargeable and heavy-Normal-Damage-dealing Wheels. These wheels can also be used as close or even far ranged weapons, like heavy/larger forms of Chakrams.
Xylin is also equipped with two gauntlets which both resemble the Volcanic Plate Shield (without the crest) and a smaller and more agile version of the Plate armor (like a number of plates from the Plate Set combined with the cloth part of the Culet/Draped set depending on the gender. Perhaps something in between). This Proto-Plate armor uses an engine-like core in order to to fuel special joints which take off some of the armor's cumbersome weight. The core energy supply is currently running on the occasional Mineral/Material but isn't efficient enough to be used for long periods of time and must be recharged in order for it to be equippable by Xylin. Or any other Knight whose strength isn't superhuman for that matter.
He/she tops his/her head with a Sun-Silver plated form of a Wyvern Scale Helm, keeping the face mask on along with it.
You know who Xylin reminds me of?
Krona from Soul Eater. And Chibitalia from Hetalia. All three are gender-ambiguous boy-girl thingamajiggers.
Thanks. I think.
Krona's a tad insane. Or that's what he/she looks like from Google images anyways. I haven't watched Soul Eater yet.
Just wanted to add a piece to this puzzle. I figured that because Alpha Squad had a team that included a Technician sort of knight it would be fitting to add someone with that sort of knowledge as a character, much older knowledge mind you, but still. Knowledge.
We'd still need a Defender (although I guess any of the Knights could really do that) sort of character to complete the set. Also, assuming the knights eat things or are going on some sort of Mission somewhere away from the Almirian Castle/city/thing I recommend including a sort of Wandering Character, a traveler who's just passing through and happens upon Torin by pure coincidence. One that knows their way around Cradle.
And they know how to cook. They've gotta know how to cook.
With that, the party would have Knights, Marksmen, Technicians, and a Guide on their quest. I can make a character for the Guide, but... Meh. Whoever makes it... MAKE SURE THEY KNOW HOW TO COOK. Maybe make them like Brock from Pokemon or something, hitting on specific types of women and following the hero around. That'd be hilarious. xD
Names
I coudnt help but notice two of your names have been used in the door within series Torin and Elspeth
Kaijuhunter's picture
Kaijuhunter
Well, if we're making pokemon references....
Aria is somewhat like May: she's overprotective of her friends and family.
Ember-Break's picture
Ember-Break
Well... Seeing as no one else has...
I'm gonna make the "Brock" character, but I'll be modifying it a bit.
So far we have a Tortomega, 4 Male characters (including the Gremlin affiliated Antagonist-type character), 2 Female characters, and Xylin, who at this point has no gender. So, considering the balance of Male to Female characters this character should be Female.
As a side note, I found a character which resembles Perri quite well, I happened upon the series said character (Yang Xiaolong) by accident, the series is called RWBY, it's a series by Rooster Teeth if you want to check it out.
Name: Perri is what she calls herself, she deliberately doesn't tell anyone her last name. Claiming that "You might think differently of me if I tell you my family's name, and who wants that?" (If you want to make the party find some sort of shocking discovery about her last name, that is acceptable, but not needed. She keeps her name to herself due to her beliefs either way)
Age: 19
Status: Wanderer/Traveler; has a Merchant License in most towns allowing her to trade items she finds on her journey freely. She sometimes steals things if they interest her enough, but she usually only holds onto them for a short while before returning them. Or pawns them for money.
Personality: Perri is an overly optimistic and flirtatious person who yearns for never-ending excitement and adventure, she is a great conversationalist and is sometimes called a "silver tongue" due to her persuasive nature in the way of Trade. She often encourages people to live without boundaries and is majorly against things that are not done out of a person's will. She is always eager to start conversation and tell tales of her many travels among friends or even strangers as long as they're willing to listen (and even sometimes when they aren't). Due to this she is sometimes considered a bit of a chatterbox and doesn't realize she's talking too much until someone tells her so, whereas she sometimes continues just to spite them.
Perri is a jokester and sometimes comes off as a bit mean, although she never tries to. At heart she is a very caring individual and is sometimes seen writing in a large Grimoire or singing/humming to herself when she's alone. Perri also has a great deal of Luck and a sharp eye for interesting objects that might be of value.
Bio: A traveler in search of excitement and adventure, Perri wanders Cradle in order to find anything of interest. She left her home from a small town far to the East of Almire when she was only 15, and has wandered around since, planning only stopping in Almire for a short time until happening upon Torin (perhaps seeing something of value on him and stealing it, or perhaps just overhearing word of an adventure). Since she lived off of the land and trading with others, she knows a lot about bartering and of the land. This also leaves her with incredible knowledge of effective herbs and spices making her a natural cook. She has a vast knowledge of techniques used by Knights and/or beasts due to her travels as well, although she doesn't use most of them, preferring to avoid any conflict if possible.
Appearance: Light Blue eyes which get lighter as they reach the pupil and long, curly Blonde hair which she sometimes twirls around her finger when she's bored. She wears a light form of Stranger clothes (Basil's in particular) without the extremely long sleeves as well as other portions of cloth which makes it semi-revealing. This attire allows her to move around quickly and dodge enemies and/or Merchants angry about being cheated out of their deals quite easily. She's about average height, if not a bit taller, than most women and has a larger bust compared to most. Her weight is a bit slimmer than most due to the amount of exercise she gets during her travels despite eating far more than even most men do.
Equipment: Perri doesn't have any special armor for fighting, she simply wears her regular stranger-esque clothing with brown Leather gloves with finger holes and Leather Padded boots with fur behind them to keep it comfy and warm. In case of Combat, Perri is well acquainted with the Bow and an ancient looking Cleaver with a half-serrated edge and ancient markings along its blade. She also carries a large backpack holding Cooking Tools, Tarps and Blankets for Camping, Herbs, Spices, Medicine, and other miscellaneous and shiny-looking objects that she finds on Cradle. She also carries all forms of currency with her at all times (about the equivalent of $500 in each currency, just in case).
I hope this thread hasn't died. This story could be amazing, so I keep checking back with it about 2 times per day. :\
Alright, glad to see my characters got in. ;D
Now I guess we just wait while you tell your tale...
-sits down in a comfy seat with some popcorn-
I can't wait. And by that I mean Hurry! I wanna see this story unfold... :c
(By the way, I cnahged Xylin's last name to Raksha instead of Racksha. Why? Because the C didn't really need to be there anyways, and as I was searching up if my coincidential naming meant anything Google kept correcting me. (<- The main reason) So yeah. Not a major change, but still. :\)
Chapter II, Part 2/2
Torin had gotten out of bed to try and think about the dream. The longer he stood, the more he understood. Facts seemed to fill his head, and he had little doubt that the weren't real. What facts? Facts like the one who had spoken to him was Gensar. Like the fact that he might not be able to find the Owlites, but they would find him. But most of all, there was one thought that made him shiver. One that frightened him above all others, that he didn't understand why it did.
Vog had escaped.
He was deep in thought, when he heard.... "Torin?"
He jumped, and turned to find Elspeth looking questioningly. He had refused life in the castle of Almire, and instead lived on the farms, near Fabian. "What are you doing?" He sighed.
"Bad dream, that's all."
"Your not one to be so easily disturbed..."
There was a long silence.
Elspeth was still curious.
"So..."
"You wouldn't believe me if I told you," was the only answer Torin gave.
Elspeth shrugged.
"Try me."
Torin thought for a moment.
"One of the goddesses of old came to me in dream, and told me to find the owlites. Otherwise, she said Almire would fall."
Elspeth's eyes widened.
"Ok, that is new."
Torin nodded.
"And you believe it?"
"... yes."
"Then I do too."
Torin looked at her in disbelieve.
"What?"
"I know you, and if you think it's real then so do I."
She paused in thought. "Though, that means your... leaving..."
"Correct."
"And you sill won't let me come...?"
"Correct."
She sighed angrily.
"Look, if your right the kingdom will fall unless you succeed, so what am I supposed to do, wait around and watch Almire crumble?"
He sighed.
"You can't come, and that's the end of that."
She sighed, but knew to let him leave it at that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

It was almost 9 am sharp. Torin had gathered his most trusted and loyal friends; a few of the crusaders, and a few of his friends outside of knighthood.

Lady Aria Azalus, crossbow in hand, ready for the journey.

Xylin Racksha, checking his equipment for the travels ahead.

Sir Dag Teland, watching Torin, simply waiting.

Perri, the strange traveler, started a humorous conversation with Aria while everyone prepared.

Finally, Fabian walked over, walking stick in hand. "This is your farmer friend, Torin?" Dag asked.
The man smiled, and gave a weak salute. "Fabian Blueshire, at your service!" Dag smiled and shook his hand.

Only one of Torin's close friends was missing, whom he thought of when he looked at the Maiden's Tear hanging around his neck. But shaking it of, he mounted. All present had already heard, for the most part, why they were here. They were all ready, good friends willing to, at a moments notice, take up a journey who's end, no one could predict.

And thus began, The Journey of Sir Torin, Knight of Almire.

Notes

I decided that Xylin is male. I simply can write male characters better.

Also, incase you didn't get it, Fabian = Samwise Gamgee.

Looks like it's getting started! Goody!

I was expecting some sort of Prologue, but I guess getting right to the good stuff isn't a bad idea.
Anyways, is there gonna be like a set schedule for when Chapters/Parts of Chapters are going to be released? Or will it just be whenever you get around to it? If there IS a schedule then... I'd like to know. But, well, it doesn't look like there is at this moment. ^ -^"

Well, anyways, I'll just wait and see what's gonna happen.

(Side Note: As said earlier I took out the "C" in Xylin's last name. So... Raksha. Not Racksha. ;D)

FEAR NOT MY FRIENDS!

While I've been more busy than I thought I would be, I discovered that in my Home school, my Mom will count this as school, so I hope to (from here on out) be adding regular installments of the story! One other thing real quick, is that I'll be doing the story in "parts." This basically means that each side adventure will be counted, and will have it's own title. Anyways, back to the story!

PART I: THE BEGINNING OF WAR

Chapter III

On a distant hill, a group of warriors and travelers trudged along. It had been a week since they set out, and already spirits were low. They would keep on their way, even if only because Torin was leading them, but they would go. As they went over the hill, however they saw a village. Fabain smiled. "Finally, a place to spend the night," was Xylin's comment. Fabain nodded in agreement.

Torin looked up, realizing it was only noon. He was about to say something, when he thought better. They had agreed to aid him, and he should let them have at least a little time to relax in. So, he nodded, and said that a little time wouldn't do harm. With that, the party eagerly moved down towards the village. But it was strange when they got there......

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a nearby hill, a figure watched them inquisitively. He knew one of them. Dag Teland. "It's been a while, 'friend.'" And with that, he started moving closer to better see what would happen.
As they entered the village, they found no one on the streets. Besides that, most of the windows were boarded up. A cold wind picked up, and hands were laid on weapons. Then Aria pointed, and the party saw a group of mounted warriors, a dust cloud rising behind them. Torin drew his sword, and weapons flashed out. They were ready for battle.
As the warriors reached the edge of town, a group of young, armed men jumped from behind a few buildings, and war broke out. There were about 20 villagers fighting around 30 mounted warriors. With a flash, Aria had entered the fray. After her, Perri started letting arrows fly, and as the rest of the party started to move in, the warriors fled, much to the cheering of the village men.
Torin stepped forward. "When last I was here it was nothing like this, what happened?" The villager who appeared to lead them, a late teen with a burly build, stepped forward. "Are you a knight of Almire? Thank the gods, you've come! For about five months, the neighboring village has been demanding money. We finally refused, and this was the outcome. The problem needs to be brought to Vanaduke. We can't hold out."
"I'm sad to say, that's not the direction we're heading. If you travel to the capital and bring it-"
"We've been blocked off. They won't let us out of here."
Torin sighed. "We'll see what we can do, my friend."
To be continued...
Chapter IV
"That was fast." The nearby figure lowered binocular-like objects from his face. "Guess I need to watch them more closely. Dag will be easy enough, though. Hmmm.... food for thought, eh?" With that, the figure turned and started to flee. He now had more info. Such that would help him in the fight to come. It was hard to believe, but yes, there was a fight to come. "Finally, Dag. You and your coward friends will pay."
He made his way swiftly through the undergrowth, then he thought he saw a figure, making their way through the forest, about 100 yards distance. He put the binoculars back up to his face, and realized he knew who it was. He laughed. "This just gets more and more interesting..."
The man fleeing was a mystery. He was a man of many names. Some thought him to be dead. Some thought him an almirian. Some said he was an assassin. Some called him a brave and noble knight. Some called him the first sign of the gremlin's corruption. Some called him by his new name.
Kalem Singird.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

"We'd be slaughtered." The pain felt from Dag's comment was in it's truth. That same comment had been spoken many times during the meeting. The leader of the town militia, Krenlin Ulfar, had called them to a war council, debating their best choice of action.

Krenlin was quick and to-the-point, though if someone played a little jest, he was more than willing to go along. Needless to say, he got on just fine with the Crusaders, and would have done even better, had they met under less pressing circumstances. He was tall and brawny, wielding a broken, old sword. He had blue eyes, brown hair, and a voice that wasn't too deep, but deep enough to be taken seriously. "We could attempt a straight on assault on the enemies town..."
"Yeah, quicken our death," was Aria's sarcastic reply.
Krenlin chuckled. "But in all honesty, m'lady, I think that its our best chance. We have you, and they'd never see a straight on attack coming."

"Because it's so fool-hardy..." muttered Dag.
"'M'lady', now that's a new one," commented Aria slyly.
"Save it, Azalus. Xylin, you can fix our friends' weapons, right?"
Xylin nodded. "I'll need a bit of time, but of course."
"Torin, I wouldn't recommend it," Dag was still saying, "We don't stand a chance straight on."
"Which is the point of strategy, my good friend, is it not?"
Dag nodded slowly.
"Then it's decided," said Krenlin, with a smile. "We start on our way in two days time. Now then, let me and Sir Torin talk strategy for a bit."

But anyways....

Before I post the next chapter, I have a bit of news. Since I listen to music while I write, and taking from the fan-fic posted above. Anyways, I have two themes from Spiral Knights so far. There will be an edit in the main page (EDIT .8) that will keep links to each and every theme I post for the story. With that said, links are below.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mu_XjUIVkF4 (Main Theme for Part I: The Beginning of War)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AgE2mAWy8aI (Theme I listen to while writing for Kalem)

Now then, are we ready for the next chapter?

Chapter V (part 1/2)

The town was alive with Torin and his friends. Xylin was repairing weapons and armor, and making new weapons and armor. Azalus and Fabain were training some of the miltia. Torin, Dag, and Krenlin were discussing strategy. Perri was aiding where ever she could, moving from task to task. Once again, only one of Torin's allies was absent. He looked down at the gem around his neck, and thought once more of Elspeth. With a sigh, he shook it off and continued to work on a plan.

"Would Azalus be willing?" was Krenlin's question.
"I've known her to do worse," said Torin with a chuckle.
"Well than. Once we get inside the town it should be easy. I just think we need a backup plan..."
"I still don't understand why it's so hard..." was Dag's question.
Krenlin shook his head. "They fortified their town. It's more of a castle then a village."
Torin stared at the map for a good time. "What about over here. You said that there was a forest that went to the edge of the town at that point, right?"

"Yes, but I don't see how that will help..."
"Trust me."
With that, Torin went off and spoke to Xylin for a while. He nodded, and the knight returned. "We have a backup plan. "
"Which is...?"
"You'll see."

Awwww, yeaaaaah!

Fanfic's starting up and going fast! I've got a lot of school, so I'm envious that you're able to write so freely. :c
Still glad to see new parts though. :D

Side Note: At the end you put in "She nodded" not "He nodded" when talking about Xylin. Are we still going for Male but with an accidental typo? Or is he/she genderless? I feel like I'm looking at the duck rabbit illusion and I can't figure out what the heck the thing should be.
Can't wait for new parts!

Tedme's picture

Oops.

It is a typo. Sorry, I'll get that fixed. Anyways, good to know you're still around. And for future reference, if you point out a problem, I'll fix it. Anyways, tell me what you think of the rest so far? The music is good? Anything?

And as a last note, I should be posting the next part of the story tomorrow.
