How do bullets stay floating while traveling at such a slow speed? Thinking turret bullets and Roarmulus Twins rockets.
Not Magic (Hahn's lessons thread)
How do bullets stay floating while traveling at such a slow speed? Thinking turret bullets and Roarmulus Twins rockets.
Turret bullets are actually highly dangerous forms of ball lightning, thought to be developed by the Crimson Order itself. As currently ball lightning is still difficult to study, as it can seemingly pass through some objects with ease and flatten others, its current nature is still unknown.
Roarmulus Twin Rockets are stuffed full of highly explosive materials; if they traveled too quickly, they could explode prematurely, not hitting the enemy knight or even causing suicidal fire. Thus, the rockets are equipped with a bulky design that slows down the projectile considerably, slowing it down long enough until impact with a Spiral Order employee.
What gives the color to all the minerals?
Why is it that when Chromas camoflauge they appear to look like water?
Why can we break green gravestones but not normal gravestones?
The Retrodes at Rescue Camp dig up like zombies, but Scuttlebots don't. Does this prove that since Scuttlebots are made from a shallower depth (they dig less) they are weaker than Retrodes?
I suppose what I'm about to ask isn't really the sciency type of question that generally seems to be in this thread, but sciency enough. Cause technology could be the answer to my question. Or something. Idk.
So...
When we crashed on Cradle and met the indigenous folks, how were we able to (more or less) instantly understand their languages? For example, in Haven we are able to converse with the Strangers even though they are an alien species that we have had no knowledge of previously. Same goes with Gremlins, Kats, and Devilites (and King Krogmo, for that matter). We can understand much of what they say perfectly, yet we are also unable to decipher another part of the Gremlins' language (According to the wiki).
I read that post where you said something about how we understood Gremlins through repetitive action or something like that, but what about the kind of things Seerus says? "Who are you Iron Assassins? Did Herex send you?" (or something like that). Now, Punch/Vice/Gremlins of Emberlight could have taught us their language so we could understand, but I don't think we've spent enough time on Cradle to master the Gremlin language to the point where we're fluent in it. For example, pretty much right when we crash we meet Razwog, who we can understand perfectly. How is that so?
Like I said before, we can also already understand Devilites, Kats, King Krogmo, Vanaduke, Strangers, Impostoclaus, and other beings. As we hail from a different planet, we should have a completely different language and speech pattern and stuff than them, yet we seem to speak the same language.
Can you see what I'm trying to say here? It seems to me that I'm making this more overly-complicated. Basically, how do we understand Cradle's natives speech literally right after we meet them? I have my own theory for this, but I want to see what you think.
Information via the SpiralNet. All Spiral Knights have transmitters in their armor that uploads data to the SpiralNet, which compiles it.
It isn't perfect nor instantaneous, and it is less effective outside a specified radius.
We are unable to decipher the Gremlin written language: it bears no resemblance (that we can tell) to their spoken language, or to any other language we have encountered. It's as if it isn't the Gremlin's "natural" written language, if they are even inclined to write otherwise...
In that thread you linked, I had stated that Gremlins had learnt Isoran, but I find that the Knight's ability to translate simple/unencrypted new languages rapidly is a far more likely event, and doesn't hinge on speculations about Cradle being created by Isorans.
Do alternative realities exist in the world of Spiral Knights? Lol X'D

@Gremlins eyes/googles: AFAIR, Seerus doesn't use googles.
Ugh, so many good questions already answered... let me think...
How does the heating process works? Why we need to use Fire Crystals now? Where does those crystals come from?
How is it that in the Cargo Bay (GinT) one can find "modern" gear and SoLs, if "these remains look to be hundreds of years old"?
Seerus does use goggles. Notice the strap at the back of his head? Even if you say "that's for his helmet", his "pupils" are spirals and the shape of his luminescent eyes is hexagonal. And that's not just a polygon thing either, it's in the official art.
Tch, here's a sirius question. How do snipes fly like a helicopter? How do their wings propel in such an impossible fashion? Do snipes have feet?
And do sniper snipes snipe other sniper snipes with sniper rifles?
Sniping sniper snipes snipe sniping sniper snipes with sniper rifles.
Sniping sniper snipes snipe snips sniping sniper snipes snipe sniping another sniping snipes snipe with dragonuv.
Annilaton, doodle your doodling tootles to tootle your tootling doodles.
Sniper snipes snipe swiping swiper from swiping a sniper snipe's sniper rifle.
Okay, let's not trifle over trifles about rifles.
How does the heating process works?
I'm not sure what you exactly mean. It heats weapons and combines the rare mineral essences of crystals into a slightly stronger alloy.
Why we need to use Fire Crystals now?
It involves a Fang of Vog overheating and ending in a highly explosive blast of fire.
Where does those crystals come from?
Fire Crystals are formations in nature, containing a bit of rare mineral essence, the quality of which fluctuates and seems more refined closer to the Core.
How is it that in the Cargo Bay (GinT) one can find "modern" gear and SoLs, if "these remains look to be hundreds of years old"?
How is it that there are modern Constructs in there? Gremlins rehabilitated it, then abandoned it when the Frankenzombies awoke.
In percentage, how much more damage could I deal against a gremlin if I had a sentenza that has two gremlin UVs? One would be low while the other is medium. (One that comes as a bonus and one that comes from Punch)
What gives the color to all the minerals?
The same thing giving color to other objects in your daily visual life; they absorb and reflect different kinds of light, resulting in different colors to our eyes. It's like asking what gives a tree its color.
Why is it that when Chromas camouflage they appear to look like water?
Water is transparent and easily see-through; Chromalisk camouflage is similar. However, both are equally detected by knights.
Why can we break green gravestones but not normal gravestones?
Green gravestones have been weakened as a result of some sort of energy formation; other gravestones are solid rock, and it would take quite a while to break, not slice through, them, which generally isn't worth the effort considering how many of them are in a single section of any given Graveyard. Also, why would you be sticking around in a Graveyard long enough to vandalize all the graves?
The Retrodes at Rescue Camp dig up like zombies, but Scuttlebots don't. Does this prove that since Scuttlebots are made from a shallower depth (they dig less) they are weaker than Retrodes?
What? Zombies dig up as well, but that doesn't mean they're from the depth below. The Retrodes simply knew the knights were coming in advance and made an attempt to sneak attack us; the first night's events proved the assault to be all too successful before power was restored. And Scuttlebots are apparently created with a much less complex coding, resulting in a much more inefficient combat AI, even if the Bot came from Tier 3 while a Retrode came from Tier 2. And they're lame.
In percentage, how much more damage could I deal against a gremlin if I had a sentenza that has two gremlin UVs? One would be low while the other is medium. (One that comes as a bonus and one that comes from Punch)
It seems that bonus monster family damage is equal to universal damage increase for that one family. For example, getting an Undead Very High on your Combuster would act as though the Combuster had a Very High Damage Increase on Undead if no other damage bonuses were present; they do not seem to be capable of stacking past Maximum!. Thus, your Sentenza would act as though it had a High damage bonus against Gremlins, which I believe is 12%.
Mineral Colour
You could go ahead and assume that Minerals work by having a crystal structure which changes it's electron structure in a non-destructive way that absorbs a portion of the electromagnetic spectrum and reflects the rest (giving minerals a transition metal-ligand structure) or just straight up light reflection.
But you would miss out on one important objective piece of information. No matter where the crystal is, no matter what the light conditions are (intensity or colour/wavelength) they ALWAYS have the same colour at the same intensity. Why?
The answer is that Minerals do not reflect light, rather they radiate it. Through Luminescence, the emission of light. The one that I believe can be applied to these minerals is Chemiluminescence.
The particular formula in practise is [Mineral] & [Mist Energy] => [Intermediate] => [Mineral] & [Mist Energy] & [Light]
The process takes the reaction of an area of Mineral that reacts with some Mist Energy in the air to form an unstable intermediary that quickly breaks down back into the prior materials, some Mist Energy is transformed into light from the exothermic reaction of [Intermediary] => [Product]. This assumes that there is an amount of dissolved Energy in the air around Crystals.
Why does the Lost Soul of Almire, in the mission: 'Alone in the Dark' look like a spiral knight? Just like how Vanaduke's eyes also look like Spiral Knight's eyes.
Unfortunately I can't really answer that question because its part of the "the creators of Cradle were Isoran" speculative theory
Two words: Convergent Evolution. Did you really think we were the only [blank] that learnt how to [blank] in a particular way?
How Does damage bonuses work on bombs and guns?
How did they convince me that Mad Bomber Helmet is designed to keep out explosions, radio waves and high-tech mind control devices?
How does CTR on swords work? What about Bombs? Guns?
What is the blue stuff surrounding you when you shield bash with a 5* shield?
How does SSB grant ASI while not equipping a shield doesn't grant bonuses?
How does Disintegration Ray lower enemies' defense (like what is in the ray that lowers defense)?
Pierce before poison or poison before pierce?
How does CTR on swords work? What about Bombs? Guns?
Charge Time Reduction on all weapons work by amplifying the energy vortex effect immensely, sucking in power that much more quickly. It has been observed that prolonged use can cause damage to the weapon over time; fortunately, an average knight will require 37 years of continuous combat to push the weapon to its first noticeable change in effectiveness. By then, they will hopefully have scrounged up the resources to create another one if needed.
What is the blue stuff surrounding you when you shield bash with a 5* shield?
Exceptionally powerful shields of the 5th level caliber seem to carry some of the energy membrane the produce upon use with them for a few seconds; being of no hindrance, the Spiral Order has not deemed it necessary to research on removal.
How does SSB grant ASI while not equipping a shield doesn't grant bonuses?
The Swiftstrike Buckler is containing a perpetually-lasting vortex, which is equipped with a high-tech sensor that detects sword swings and activates the usually inert vortex, which sucks the arm towards the vortex and speeds it up. For guns, the vortex sucks the bullets towards it in a slingshot-like fashion, similar to how satellites slingshot past planets by exploiting their gravitational fields.
How does Disintegration Ray lower enemies' defense (like what is in the ray that lowers defense)?
The Disintegration Ray contains parts of a Level 7 Garbage Incineration Ray, which generates a highly charged blast that scatters certain materials, one of them being any kind of armor shielding an enemy.
Pierce before poison or poison before pierce?
Pierce before poison; otherwise, the poison could not enter the victim's bloodstream/circuitry/jelly core.
Knight's interiors
Inside of a knight, there is a liquid substance in the shape of various organs, such as lungs and a stomach. This is the knight's blood, and is the reason why every knight has differently colored eyes (Think blood types). Said blood also powers the knight's gear, which is why the armor a knight wears changes to the appropriate color.
The weapons are also affected by this. Wielding 4 weapons is impossible without Weapon Slot Upgrades, as they are basically tanks that temporarily increase a knight's blood supply.
This is also why a knight is never seen dual wielding Swords, Handguns or Bombs, because doing so would drain the knight's blood faster than it can replenish.
Fluctuating Weapon/Armor strength
It seems the closer to the Core a knight gets, the more blood they can produce. This would explain why 5* weapons and armor are weaker in the upper tiers, because the knights have to adjust the amount of blood the gear is allowed to take, reducing its performance.
The reason knights can produce more of the substance the closer they are to the Core is because of the energy levels. A knight's armor passively absorbs the energy of Cradle's atmosphere, and sends it inside of the knight's body to turn it into more blood.
Crystal Energy is the one exception: It can't be absorbed very easily since it is solid, and as a result Knights use it as a form of currency instead.
Sparks of Life
When a knight is incapacitated, their gear is programmed to jump-start their heart once. After that, the knights have to use a Spark of Life. Think of it as a defibrillator; it sends a shock of electricity running through the knight's heart, stimulating it and restarting the blood flow.
(I've said blood alot, haven't I?)
What fourth wall? I'm only aware of a pile of steaming rubbage.
Why does a Twin Rocket do pitiful Elemental damage in good armor, but using a Divine Avenger, which does more damage, can't stun the Twins?
