Event: Edible Monsters - [Deadline 6/6] [Winners announced 6/11!]

Often when delving into the Clockworks I find myself needing to stop slaying monsters in order to grab something to eat. This is an unacceptable break in the action. Clearly there's only one solution, I need to be able to eat the monsters after they're dispatched.
Your task is to create a sculpture of the monster of your choice using food! Let your creativity run wild. You can build anything from a macaroni mender to a zombie out of beets and mashed potatoes! You're limited only to your imagination. Any food item may be used, but the entire thing must be edible. You'll then submit your entry for the judges in the entry thread here: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/55466. (Please refer to the submission guidelines below.)
Creations need to be of a monster found in SK. You can find a list of them here: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Monster . Each family will have separate judging and earn separate prizes. This way we can hand out even more shiny loot.
Deadline: Deadline for entries is 6/6 at 11:59 PM game time.
Entry Thread: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/55466
Prizes: There will be a winner for *each* monster family. Winners will be able to pick between a 30 day elevator pass or a pocket monster (Chroma Whelp, Love Puppy, and Mewkat ). Second and third place for each family will receive a silver key.
Submission Guidelines:
- Create a sculpture depicting a monster in the game.
- No items can be used that are not edible and safe for human consumption. So don't use toothpicks as a support structure, but pretzel sticks are fine. A flat non-food item, such as a piece of cardboard or plate, is allowed for use as a base for your sculpture. Feel free to use anything non-food you like to help shape, mold, or sculpt your project so long as it is removed before your pictures are taken.
- Take at least 3 photos of the sculpture. 2 should be of your final project to capture different angles and perhaps special details. This helps the judges see more of your work. 1 should be a progress picture. This helps judges determine that you did create it rather than doing a Google search.
- Host your photos online at a site such as imageshack or photobucket.
- Post your entry in the entry thread. http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/55466
- Your entry post should follow the template below below. (feel free to copy it and just fill in your info).
- You may enter a sculpture for each monster family, but may only win one prize. If you choose to create more than one entry, please post all of them in the same post.
- Deadline for entries is 6/6 at 11:59 PM game time.

Q&A:
I'll be keeping this area updated with important questions asked in the thread.
Q: Can I use items that aren't edible, but are part of the edible item. For example banana peels?
A: No. If people don't typically consume it, don't use it. I don't know anyone that eats banana peel, yet they do eat orange zest. This means that orange peel is acceptable.
Q: May you use food that's uncooked? (Like Spaghetti Noodles)
A: Go for it. The plan is to keep your entry edible. I don't want to be so hard nosed about it that it's no fun. If you'd eat something once it's cooked, feel free to use the raw version. So no toothpicks to hold it up (I suggest pretzel sticks).
Q: May you use glue to stick the food together?
A: No. I suggest using a food substance for your glue. Royal icing or honey would be good examples.
Q: Can we use Playdough?
A: No. That's not considered food even if I did eat it as a child.
Q: Do we DRAW a sculpture of our edible monster? Or do I ask permission to use my mommy's food to make a monster out of real life items like broccoli or what not? Question here is drawing or IRL touchable holdable sculpture?
A: You need to make the item out of the actual food.
Q: Are drones in any category of monster that I can make? (considering that there are as many types of drones as there are beasts, its not out of the question...)
A: For simplicity sakes, we're not going to be including drones in this event.
Q: What family is Lord Vanaduke in?
A: For the purpose of this event, we'll consider him a fiend.
Q: On the issue of pedestals etc.... am I allowed to hang my sculpture with a non food item if necessary? Per say, if I made a silkwing/griever/flying zombie, would I be able to hang it with fishing wire to make it float? Considering that plates are legit as stands.
A: That sounds fine.
Q: Do we have to accept a prize? Or could the winner reject his/her 30 day elevator pass/pocket monster?
A: Nope, but rejected pocket monsters get sad.
Q: Must it be 3D? I've done some pretty cool "drawings" with melted chocolate before, but the general wording seems to settle on sculptures. Just figured I'd ask. :)
A: 2D is fine.

first time this ever happened! sure to participate ;D! Can't wait to start playing with my food. But.. a Spiral knights GM told me to do it!

My mommy told me not to play with my food sadly and don't you make Eurydice cry or else!!

@Njthug What makes you think Eurydice doesn't play with her food? If she's not flinging it across the room, she's conversing with it.

Inb4 "This belongs in the treasure vault" police.

I like to think my thread titled Monster Pocket - Delicious uses, recommendations and suggestions played a part in the inspiration of this idea.

Do we DRAW a sculpture of our edible monster? Or do I ask permission to use my mommy's food to make a monster out of real life items like brocolii or what not? Question here is drawing or IRL touchable holdable sculpture?

This is actually pretty cool! The concept of a GM interacting in such a way with players to host a competition like this is a neat idea.
+1!
Btw, this belongs in the treasure vault. >:)

@Chickenuggetz You need to make the item out of the actual food. No drawing the food or sculpture for this particular event.

Btw, this belongs in the treasure vault. >:)
You can find the entry thread in the Treasure Vault. Because this is a GM run event we've opted to post it in General Discussion rather than the Treasure Vault as an exception to the norm. I would have put it in the announcements forum, but I wanted you all to be able to ask questions. Perhaps one day if events become popular we'll give them their very own little home on the forums.

Oh...smart move. I was just trollin for trollin's sake...I really like this idea. :) Jello Jelly King ftw!!

Ehem. I detect a double post.
Lol, jk. I can't wait to see the stuff people come up with. this is a great idea.

So what if we want to make the sculpter stand up? We gon have to use toothpicks or something >.<

I'm so excited! I hope I get a chance to put something together.
Going along the edible line, should I take that to mean that we can't use uncooked pasta or uncooked rice and things like that which are more pre-edible? Because I know that having to stop and boil your food in water is just as bad as having to stop and cook it otherwise =)

I have three questions before I start thinking of an idea. xD
1. May you use food that's uncooked? (Like Spaghetti Noodles)
2. May you use glue to stick the food together?
3. May we use pure sugar? (I've seen some human beings eat pure sugar, and after all, it's edible :D!)

Okay, easiest one: Ice Cube. People eat ice cubes, after all.
I'm eager to see photos of edible Roarmulus Twins or Vanadukes. I might even make something...

Eury never plays with her food unless she playing with me since I r desert, she does talk to her drinks though, but then again who doesnt.

I've eaten raw spaghetti before. Yes it is edible, so it counts. It leaves a pretty bad aftertaste though...

I expect to see a lot of Kat-cakes. Man, this is going to be exciting. Of course, it would be a tad difficult to enter in the contest myself, so I'm going to sit this out.

I could very well win this contest. It'd be pretty easy, but there's one problem. That problem is I don't have talent in art. *Takes music as art credits through high school*

Aww, damn. I'm out of giant jell-o molds.

Of course. It's yummy.

Yes. Again, if it's something folks are going to eat/drink it's fine.
Can we use Playdough?
No. That's not considered food even if I did eat it as a child.

How about... bread dough?

> > Can we use Playdough?
> No. That's not considered food even if I did eat it as a child.
So I guess that means paste won't work either, huh? I'm asking for a friend.

LMFAO the red jello post made me die of laughter... that kid seriously googled for the photos!

Can we make bread dough and sculpt it into anything? And leave it uncooked...?

I shall be entering! I am getting my ideas together and will hopefully put together an amazingly sweet monster :)

@Vifig Thankfully, I haven't ;)
Though elmer's glue does taste decent...and it's non toxic! Food?

Perhaps the definition of food has something to do with nutritional value :D But... then, a lot of the best things could be said to not be of value... Does the glue have any calories :P

@Vifig
Not sure...it might have some, but idk. I should check that...if glue has calories. Lol...yeah, I ate the weirdest stuff when I was young.

Are we allowed only 1 submission per person, or 1 submission per category?

They eat human flesh.. so can i use my own body for this? lol!

They should add a new rule that you have to eat the artwork after the competition is over.

Oh boy oh boy.
I love doing this sort of thing, but I rarely get the chance to - mostly cos my preferred materials get expensive.
(Obligatory "look what I made once :D" because I can't resist chances to show this thing even if it's kinda roughly made: https://d.facdn.net/art/zophia/1261696130.zophia_photo_on_2009-12-21_at_... )
Also, question. Must it be 3D? I've done some pretty cool "drawings" with melted chocolate before, but the general wording seems to settle on sculptures. Just figured I'd ask. :)

2D is fine.

You know, I'd do something for this competition.
But the prize kinda isn't worth the effort.
Or the cost of ingredients.

Can we work in teams?
EDIT: also, it would be hilarious if this made us P2P (because of baking supplies)

And are multiple submissions accepted?

Then what's the point of participating, if not to try to ruin the contest for everyone else?

I might as well ask how about boogers?? Im asking for Helios that guy always has his fingers up his nose

I'm not Cronus, but I'm going to go out on a limb here and say "no boogers." We don't want to see pictures of your boogers, Njthug.
