[[All characters must enter the castle and step a small distance from the door for anything to happen. The events which will occur afterwards will go as follows:
The only exception to this chain of events is Gwen. Her series of events will go like this:
@Ares-Hsg
Seeing as Ares will be separated from the group, a simple revision depicting him following the tunnel and entering the room with Vargas is all that is necessary. You don't have to wait for anyone, because the time it takes will be independent.
@Saucce
Scorpio is not in the same room as Ares & Vargas. He will be separated by a near-indestructible void-black maze, which will lead him to his own door; because @Snakey-One has not given an indication that Creos will give a location as to where he will be fighting, Scorpio will be teleported to a large Ballroom whose exits will be sealed by the Swarm Door upon arrival. Strom will then tell Creos that Scorpio is waiting for him in said room; Until Creos arrives, or gives orders for Strom to do something else with him, Scorpio will remain in the empty Ballroom.
I'll make a post with Pippin, considering that the group's next moves will be "Entering the Entrance" (presumably). That should be sufficient for showing how things will happen, I think.]]
---------------
Pippin:
As the group walked into the entrance, Pippin was on guard. She already had her Cleaver out, and the Grip-Mods on her hands whirred slowly. The entrance was silent... But only until they had left a couple of meters between them and the door.
The doors closed like something you'd see in a horror film, propelled by what appeared to be black blocks; this resulted in a short gasp from Pippin.
"A trap, as expected." was all Pippin needed to say before she, along with the other knights (presumably) noticed more blocks of similar kind dropping from the ceiling.
For a moment, Pippin figured it was all over. A ceiling trap; set in the beginning to crush the knights and end any resistance. Ares could have been fed false information just to take the group's mind away from the possibility of impending doom. The room was too large to make for other possible doors, and blocks seemed to be everywhere within the room anyways. The only thing she could see at the end of the extremely long room was what appeared to be a phantom, with his hands outstretched like he was manipulating an Orchestra... Then... Darkness.
She wasn't being crushed. In fact, the blocks had fallen just around her. She had enough space to take a single step in all directions, but the path before her was longer.
"Hey, can you guys hear me? Still alive?" She shouted. The blocks seemed to reverberate with her voice, meaning it probably came off as an almost mute murmur to anyone else... Com Units might work... But the faint static noise being let off from the walls seemed to suggest against it. Pippin didn't have one to begin with, so it didn't really make much of a difference in her case. Instead of lingering on her new inability to communicate with her teammates, she squinted her eyes and looked around.
'You'd think that they'd install lights if they planned on keeping us alive -- Oh.' was Pippin's thought as the darkness lifted from a soft grey glow from the walls. There wasn't much to light up, however. As she figured, there was a step in every direction, but every direction but forwards was blocked by a void-black material.
'... A tunnel?' Pippin pondered on the thought that her captors were leading them down a path like wild animals. An educated slaughterhouse, as it were. Before she could think too deeply about it, however, the block behind her started moving closer. There was nowhere to go but forward. Pippin grinned to herself.
'Quite the pushy captors, aren't they?' she thought as she dashed through the tunnel. She was scared about what would come up next. She hadn't shown it, but she was. Still, there was no longer a way to get back to the group, and they had been as prepared as they could to face what came next. And what came next was.... A door. Or... Doorway?
It was quite simple looking, resulting in a look of disappointment from Pippin as the cubes stopped behind her, limiting her to the short path towards the odd creation. The only thing with any detail was the Mantle above the doorway, which glowed Magenta faintly, under its similarly void-black covering. Pippin took out a Red Saber and threw it at the contraption, but it was blasted back at her the moment it came a cm close to the glow. Thankfully, the Saber didn't maim her, and she recovered it without issues. She then approached the substance.
If the material wasn't moving slightly, she would have thought it similar to a Mirror... Her reflection could be seen slightly on the surface, but it was wavering slightly, like a reflection on the pond. She pressed a hand on it... And her hand vanished. She withdrew it immediately, expecting a lost appendage, but her hand was fine. The block behind her pressed against her back, urging her forward.
'Well, whoever set this up wouldn't waste the time with the tunnel just to kill me off... So... Let's see where it goes.' the block pushed forward again, until there was only a meter between Pippin and the doorway.
'I don't have a choice, either way.' Pippin held her cleaver in front of her like a shield, and jumped through the doorway.
---------------
Strom:
As the knights walked into the entrance, Strom made sure to stand far enough back from the Balcony to not be discovered. A couple more steps would be all that it would take for the group to fall into the trap.
A moment was all it took for such a distance to be cleared. And so Strom shut the door with two blocks which he had set beside them -- closing them with his hands would take too much time, after all -- and walked forward. He then raised his hands, casting his influence over the blocks on the ceiling, and bringing them downwards.
'Ɨ wønđɇɍ ħøw ɨŧ fɇɇłȿ... Ŧø ƀɇ ŧɍaᵽᵽɇđ ɨn ȿưȼħ a waɏ. Ɨ đø nøŧ ₥ɇan ŧø ɇnaȼŧ ȿưȼħ ȼɍưɇłŧɏ øn ȼɍɇaŧưɍɇȿ øf ŧħɇɨɍ ɨnŧɇłłɇȼŧ, ƀưŧ...'
'I wonder how it feels... To be trapped in such a way. I do not mean to enact such cruelty on creatures of their intellect, but...' Strom continued manipulating the blocks, bringing them down around the knights without harming them. Before they were covered, however, he spotted the Core.
'Ɨ wɨłł đø wħaŧ Ɨ ₥ưȿŧ.'
'I will do what I must.'
With that thought, the Knights were sealed, separated, and had their paths set before them. Cubes not in use floated above the maze, whose top fit over the knights with a distance of about a meter. It also acted as a One-Way mirror, as to monitor the movement of the knights without opening a path which would merge with another tunnel. It truly felt like he had constructed a maze for Mice. The only exception was the room around the Core Spirit, which was about 13ft by 10ft, and led no where. She, unlike the others, would not have to be treated like a mouse. And would not need to be moved.
'Ŧħɇ øŧħɇɍȿ, ħøwɇvɇɍ...'
'The others, however...' Strom moved his fingers slightly, and the maze began closing in on the knights' backs.
'Ⱥ łɨŧŧłɇ ɨnȼɇnŧɨvɇ ŧø ħưɍɍɏ ŧħɇ₥ ałønǥ wøưłđn'ŧ ħưɍŧ.'
'A little incentive to hurry them along wouldn't hurt.'
---------------
Min:
Min heard the movement of the ceiling as the odd knight in front of it manipulated them somehow. It wasn't magic which allowed him to do so...
'A different... Way to control.' Min thought to itself while remaining in the shadows. While the knight was distracted with his manipulation, Min quickly moved into the room, and hid itself as he had before -- by simply standing motionless. By staying near the wall down one of the staircases, it remained in Strom's blind spot, while having the ability to sense the movement down in what Min assumed to be the entrance. Other beings, knights perhaps, were being placed within a maze of sorts, set by the knight above. But there was another... A being that was... Artificial.
'The Core.' the thought reverberated within Min's mind. The one it had come to examine was so close... But Min knew better than to move. It would bide its time and wait for the Core Spirit to escape the maze, whether through its own power, or through the manipulator freeing it.
((Who shall I start with? How about Luke?))
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luke walked in the door and looked around, ready to fight whatever came their way. What he didn't expect was a million cubes surrounding and separating them.
"Hey! What!?"
He pounded on the nearest wall and shouted again, "Hey! GUYS!!"
No response, only the dull echo of his own pounding. It dawned on him that the walls were soundproof. He sheathed his Calibur and installed his Avenger, providing some light to comfort him. He looked forwards, and started down the hallway, realizing they had walked right into the trap.
Eventually, he came across an interesting lookin doorway.
"Well, here goes everything."
He shut his eyes and plunged into the
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Syber glanced upwards, that was quick. The revolving bullet case clicked into place as he cocked the pistol. He pushed off the wall lightly, coming to a standing position to approach this 'chef'. He thought about firing immediately, taking this opponent by surprise and overwhelming the knight.
But he decided on a different approach, he wanted to know more about these knights, what they were actually trying to do. How much they knew.
Syber secured his mask and unholstered his obsidian carbine. The gun's runes and shards glowed and shook, recharging the weapon for discharging.
"You look a little lost. I don't think you'll find any help here."
He trained the Peacemaker on the chef, unwavering and stock still.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Margrel looked at the ground, and propped the book open in one hand. Using the other, she made a rising gesture, starting with open fingers downwards and plucking an invisible object out of the air, pulling upwards.
In front of the dark Mage, a small obsidian spire jutted out of the ground, glowing brightly purple. Margrel twisted her hand slowly, her fingers following each other in a beholding gesture.
Smaller shards of obsidian rose from the ground, floating around the spire ominously.
Margrel closed her hand into a fist, the orbiting shards closed in, attaching to the spire and glowing the same purple. The Kat spellcaster drew back her arm for another go when the door flashed, depositing a youngish knight roughly onto the ground.
Surprised, Margrel snapped the book shut and the spire crumbled. A nice warning would have been helpful. Margrel slipped the book into a hook on her belt and clasped both hands together.
She muttered a few words and magenta energy flashed from between her hands, solidifying into a straight, short sword.
[[Because all knights will be forced to go through their portals one way or another, I'm going to move ahead with Strom. People can still write up their characters' reactions to the maze, but his movement will take place after all characters have left through their portals. Also, it should be alright for each character to act regardless of other people's time-lines as soon as they enter their respective fighting areas. Time coordination can be considered after each confrontation is done.]]
---------------
Pippin:
'Well, this is going well, all things considered,' Pippin looked forward, over a ridge in her cleaver to gaze at the knight who had probably been set to dispatch her. She didn't have any holes in her, so at least he had some sort of courtesy. Or he just wanted something out of her before he killed her...
"You look a little lost. I don't think you'll find any help here." were the words that came from his mouth.
"Lost..? What... You think I'm like some kid who got stranded from their parents in a convenience store?" Pippin started seething behind her cleaver at the fact that the knight had already belittled her, but she figured that so long as she spoke up, she would last a bit longer without getting shot, so she continued.
"And I wouldn't have thought that I'd find any help, either. I was led here, using blocks and doors -- it was quite the experience. You should try it yourself if you get the chance," Pippin smirked behind her cleaver, "well, that's if you survive meeting up with me. Which is probably what you're thinking as well."
"So. Why would you speak up instead of filling me with holes, Apocrean? Is this what your kind do for fun? Taunt their enemies and then take their souls? Or are you after something else?"
Pippin wasn't the greatest at making allies out of enemies -- all she could hope is that this guy was Pliable... And that any friends he might have around aren't trigger-happy.
---------------
Strom:
After a couple of minutes had passed, all the knights had either made their ways into the doors of their own will, or had simply been forced through. Strom lifted his hands towards the ceiling, and the cubes lifted to the ceiling, and seemingly stuck to its surface. The doors stopped glowing once their purpose had been fulfilled, and so they simply settled towards the sides of the room, making Five pitch-black mirrors stand together in front of the Fountain within the Entrance. Strom felt the side of his head, looking for the Com Unit which had been supplied to him. Once he located it, he took it off, and set it on the edge of the balcony. The gremlin had also mentioned that the bracelet connected him to his Master... And so Strom took it off. One could never be too careful when it came to cutting off any potential eavesdroppers.
Strom then jumped down from the balcony. Chances are, taking off the bracelet would bring some sort of Armerio to know that something was up... But it couldn't be helped. Time was of the essence, and walking down Stairs wouldn't be necessary as Strom's armor regenerated from the fall.
He then took a couple of steps forward. He was a short run from the Core Spirit, but knew better than to approach her any further. He could feel something from her. She was definitely... Different. Something deep within him seemed to wish to lash out at her, but he figured he knew what that was. He took a deep bow, his blade doing a short flourish before stabbing itself into the floor as a symbol of a polite greeting.
"Ŧħɇ Ȼøɍɇ, Ɨ ᵽɍɇȿư₥ɇ?"
"The Core, I presume?"
He then raised to his full height, and his blade lifted slightly off the ground, fitting itself to his side.
"Ɨ a₥ Sŧɍø₥. Ɨ ħavɇ ƀɇɇn waɨŧɨnǥ ɋưɨŧɇ ȿø₥ɇ ŧɨ₥ɇ ŧø ₥ɇɇŧ ɏøư. Ɨŧ ɨȿ ưnføɍŧưnaŧɇ ɨŧ ħađ ŧø ƀɇ ưnđɇɍ ŧħɇȿɇ ȼɨɍȼư₥ȿŧanȼɇȿ."
"I am Strom. I have been waiting quite some time to meet you. It is unfortunate it had to be under these circumstances."
((@Ember-Break: I was going to remind you that Armerio had some degree of telepathy, but I realized I didn't make it official. It really doesn't matter to him if you fight The Core or not, in his mind he's gonna kill it anyways, whether starting with Gwen or the actual Core. ))
Armerio sat listlessly, wondering why his opponent had to be the no-show. Now, he just looked through everyone else's fights. Creos was talking to his father, who happened to be the Hierarch (that explained a bit), Margrel was in the initiation stages with the Avenger knight, Syber and the chef were talking as well. The only fighting really going on now was Ares and Vargas.
What about Strom? It was noticeable that Strom had taken off his bracelet, but not of much concern, seeing as it was The Core he was talking to. If he even wanted to have tea with that knight, Armerio didn't care. If he turned heel, that could be dealt with as well. Armerio's mind snapped back to his dungeon.
There was still noone there. He sighed.
***
Vargas was infuriated. Ares was having the same effect on Vargas that the Harvester had on Ares. Needless to say, it wasn't a nice feeling. Vargas was beyond talking at this point. He raised his Leviathan Blade, leveled it with Ares's neck, and struck. Or he would've hadn't a certain Battle Sprite Firestormed him.
But these hits were nothing to a Vanguard of Vargas's calibur. Before returning to Ares, he decided to take care of the interference. Said interference was in cooldown mode, and therefore rendered helpless to what Vargas was about to do. Vargas opened Chomp's mouth, and stuck the barrel of his Valiance right onto the power source. His finger tightened on the trigger...
The Swarm relinquished its protection mode on Ares.
Ares fired a quick shot from his Sentenza, knocking Vargas to the side.
"Can't say it's pleasant to see you again, after all you're still as hideous as ever," he said. Vargas was already right at him, swing his sword, which Ares was parrying with apparent ease.
"Has it really been that (duck swipe) long?" Ares asked. He then spun and kicked Vargas in the chest. Vargas stumbled, but fired his Valiance thrice. Ares narrowly ducked the shots, then transferred that momentum into a tackle, pinning Vargas to the ground. He drew his Hail Driver.
"You're getting old." Ares said lightly, and pulled the trigger.
Armerio's bracelet had to work overtime on Vargas. The pain was actually building up to be hindering. On top of that, Ares's shot froze his visor. All Vargas could see was white.
"White and red make pink, right? Brace yourself to see that very soon," Ares, showing a bit off haughtiness, scoffed.
As she stepped in she saw blocks surround them. She turned her com to broadcast as Ares had told her to, then she shouted out, "See you guys later!" but the next part she kept to herself, "Hopefully..." She stood examining the walls around her. They were made of swarm, no doubt. Then she heard a hissing noise, pinkish flames began errupting from behind her, she sprinted down the passageway with Sarah by her side, she then fell into a pit and rolled down a slope. She crashed into a dank room, it appeared to be some sort of dungeon. She stood up, and felt a presence she felt before. It felt like what she felt when ares cured her of the Swarm. Lyn looked ahead of her and saw someone who looked like Ares*.
"Who are you?" She asked timidly, she was still sore from the fall. "Please tell me your a friend, because if you're not..." Lyn drew her Winter Grave and began charging, "I fell very sorry for you."
"Welcome Scorpio. Long time no see. Too bad." Said Creos, somehow escaping Scorpio's notice. "Well, no time like the present. The Harvesters don't dance here. Those inbreed scum's forms of entertainment are so simplistic. All they do is find living victims and torture them for an hour. We highborn, on the other hand, torture our victims for as long as we can, which can be years. The only reason the floor is so purple is because of the blood of our subjects." Creos said. "The time has come for your blood to join these floors."
With that, Creos raises his arms, raises an obsidian maze and under his breath says, "Thanks dad." Everyone on the floor is rising on a wall of obsidian and will lose balance of unless they are the villains, then they will automagically know where to find Creos and the Hierarch.
Gwen leaned on Luke's arm and grunted, "Health capsules won't help. Thanks for the offer though." She allowed him to help her through the gateway, only to find...
...the dirt again. She spat out a mouthful and glanced back at the gateway. Luke was gone. Uh oh. The small room limited her traveling options, and the only sign of life was that of a mysterious figure who had just leaped down and began to approach her.
"The Core, I presume?" His complex voice gave away his affiliation. A Void Apocrean...now that would be an interesting concept, if it were true. She would have loved to take him back to her lab for further research, but she was in no condition to be capturing anybody. He continued, "I am Strom. I have been waiting quite some time to meet you. It is unfortunate it had to be under these circumstances."
Gwen shifted her legs in a halfhearted attempt to stand so she could give him a little courtesy, but her legs simply wouldn't bear the weight. Screw courtesy then. "Yes, quite unfortunate," she retorted. "If you're hoping for some kind of epic battle with a worthy equal, you won't get it. The atmosphere in here is disgraceful. You wouldn't be so kind as to help me to my feet, would you?"
((Flame-Shinobi: Evil Ares is right. He's in a Crown Of The Fallen and a Dread Skelly Suit))
Armerio didn't know how to react to bravado. So after the girl knight's threat he did what came naturally.
Laugh.
He laughed heartily while charging his Acheron ((which, remember, has the power of a basic "6 star" sword)). Once he finished, he replied.
"Isn't it obvious who I am? I'm Ares." He grinned maliciously.
"If you're good, then I might just take pity on you and corrupt you instead of killing you. Either way, welcome to the end of life as you know it."
Then, he was nothing but a blur as he raced around the room, seemingly vanishing in thin air.
((There are a couple ways you might be able to sense him, but considering his current speed, none are reliable. He'll do this for the next 3-6 seconds))
***
Ares shot at Vargas repeatedly with his Sentenza. After the first three shots, Vargas regained enough sense to activate his shield. Calming himself down, he remembered the various ways he had trained himself. He closed his eyes and focused.
His shield bubble broke. Vargas, feeling where the vibration was, dashed in that direction and swiped, cutting Ares on the arm. Ares was remotely surprised but recovered quickly. Sidestepping on his toepoints, he drew his CIV.
Vargas fired three shots from the Valiance. One at the source of the sound, the other two slightly to the sides. All of them hit. Baffled, Ares dashed in front of Vargas, who swiped at the distrubance. Ares ducked and then transferred that momentum to a tackle, which hit Vargas in his midsection, knocking the wind out of him.
Using his Furious Flamberge, he melted the ice on Vargas's visor, and jumped back, spitting blood onto the floor.
((I feel like doing as Hellsing bit with the blood and the floor.. But... I might not.))
She felt a little bad inside, she had felt pretty good about that conversation up until that point. Lyn had no Idea how to react when he began speeding around, how could she track something that fast!?!?!?!? Then she realized something, she didn't have to.
"Sarah, Ray of Light!" Lyn called out.
(If he does run into the beam, Lyn will fire her charge shot at the, hopefully, stunned Armerio. If he doesn't get hit, Lyn will flip backwards and latch onto the wall [with her ninja skillz] in hopes of dodging the charge attack.)
Armerio rolled his eyes at the girl's use of her battle sprite to start the battle. Was it really that hard for knights to fight their battles on their own nowadays? Armerio had been tired of battle sprites since he was "Purple-Eyes", watching Ares use his drakon at every possible moment. At any rate, he ducked under the "Ray Of Light", and the girl knight jumped onto the wall just before he struck. Had she been a second late, she would've been hit by the full force of the charge attack.
Armerio fired three quick shots, the first aiming directly at the knight, the second to the right and slightly above her, the third to the left and slightly below.
He then blurred to the top left corner of the dungeon, shrouded in shadows.
"I don't like to objectify my victims, so I'm going to need something to call you," his voice resonated through the dungeon, making it impossible to discern the source of it.
***
Vargas and Ares repeatedly clashed their swords, with seemingly neither gaining an advantage. Vargas's brow, though you couldn't see it, was furrowed in concentration. You could tell Ares was focused as the scathing comments had stopped. At least for a minute.
Vargas jumped backwards, and Ares took this moment to fire at him with his Sentenza, but missed. Badly.
"With an aim like that, how were you recruited in the Order in the first place?" Vargas laughed.
Ares fired again and hit Vargas on the arm.
"With an attitude like that, it's no wonder you were cast out of the Order," Ares retorted.
Vargas fired in retaliation, but Ares ducked under the shot, simultaneously firing at Vargas's knee. The target sidestepped the shot and fired a shot at the ground Ares was standing on. Ares jumped backwards, firing three shots at Vargas, who shielded, then fired three shots back in retaliation. Ares, after landing, dashed under the shots directly to Vargas and stood up, finding Vargas's gun in his face. And his gun in Vargas's face. They both fired at the same time, and now both were reeling.
Although he didn't show it, Syber almost felt taken aback. This chef was quite the mouthful.
"Why? Oh I don't know, I haven't gotten to see your side of the expedition. You seem to jump to conclusions very easily. I'm not an Apocrean, just a gun for hire. As so, I've no access to telepathy like the other guy."
Syber shifted stance, changing to a casual, lazy stance.
"I do want to know something. How is Uni- Gwen? Is she up to her usual antics? Masterminding another scheme to wreck the evil once again?"
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
((Working on Margrel versus Luke.))
Pippin:
"For a mercenary, you sure look a lot like your employers," Pippin indicates Syber's mask over her Cleaver, then continues, withdrawing her hand behind the blade once again. Pippin considers asking the mercenary about this "other guy", but that wouldn't be the most clever thing to do. She'd find out eventually... For now, securing her life was what she wanted the most.
"Hm... So even a merc. under Apocrean employment knows about her, huh? She must get around. Anyways, I can't tell you about the plan... But even without the details, the fact that we're here should say something about our objective, right?
"Also... Why would you want to know? The fact that we were greeted with hoards of undead instead of a welcoming basket shows how your employers feel about us being here, so your objective of wiping us out probably wouldn't change even if you knew. Well. Unless your objective isn't taking us out, whereas I'd ask why your gun is up."
Pippin needed something... Something that would allow her to gain an edge and escape. For now, she'd just have to hope she could hold her attacker(s) back verbally, or risk losing an arm or two. She was confident in close combat, but chances are, this guy wasn't the only merc. in these halls...
'Ah. It's been a long time since I've been this afraid...' Pippin clenched her fist to stop it from shaking. How close to death was she at this moment? How close to death had she been since she even stepped foot in this realm..?
Pippin slammed her cleaver into the ground, causing it to crack into the obsidian flooring. She then set her SMC down to the blade of the cleaver, and selected the food she had created only minutes before, causing it to materialize at the same heat as it was before its packing. The smell drifted through the room, and Pippin sat down on top of her container as it drifted to her nose.
If anything could cure her nerves, it was the scent of food. The scent of the kitchen.
---------------
Strom:
Strom moved forward once the Core Spirit had asked for help, and extended his hand. As soon as he was within a meter of the woman however, Curls of swarm energy flowed out of his book, holding him in place.
"Ɨŧ ȿɇɇ₥ȿ... Ɨ ȼannøŧ ħɇłᵽ đɨɍɇȼŧłɏ wɨŧħ ɏøưɍ ɍɇȼøvɇɍɏ."
"It seems... I cannot help directly with your recovery." Strom spoke, friction clear in his voice. The Swarm was expanding its influence, it seemed; but that didn't stop Strom's Épée from flowing forward and extending its hilt towards the woman to help her raise to her feet. The Swarm corruption hadn't contaminated its base for the most part -- so it was probably a safer choice for assistance anyways. Still, magenta lines flowed off of Strom's body from the book, cracking along the ground like embers from a fire until he backstepped a bit, causing the pink inferno to subside.
"... Ɨ ȿưᵽᵽøȿɇ ŧħɨȿ ɨȿ a ᵽɍaȼŧɨȼał ɇxa₥ᵽłɇ øf wħaŧ Ɨ wɨȿħɇđ ŧø ŧałҟ aƀøưŧ. Ȼøɍɇ Sᵽɨɍɨŧ. Đø ɏøư ҟnøw ħøw ŧø ȼưɍɇ ₥ɏ ᵽłɨǥħŧ?"
"... I suppose this is a practical example of what I wished to talk about. Core Spirit. Do you know how to cure my plight?" Strom's large Swarm eye within his helmet subsided, being replaced with his own two regular eyes... But only for a moment, before they faded away once again.
---------------
Min:
Min continued concentrating on the pair. The manipulator seemed even more off than when he was atop the balcony. Something was spreading within... But Min would need to examine up close to figure out what it was. Because of this, it decided to step slowly down from the staircase, step by step. Normally, its chainmail would have made a large amount of noise, but in times such as these, it stayed fashioned to Min's bindings, allowing stealthy movement.
At its pace, unless someone focused directly on Min, it would not be discovered.
*Crud* Lyn thought to herself, seeing the bullets coming at her. Then she remembered her gun, she fired the charge directly at the wall, pushing her off of it, she spun, twisting her body around the oncoming shot, only getting nicked in the heel. She landed and winced a little from the pain, but it was nothing too serious. Lyn then heard his remark.
"Me, why, you could call me a lot of things, like Phyllis, or Dave, or Samuel, or Jack, or even Matilda," Lyn went on in this matter, stalling hoping to locate him. She simply couldn't so she finished her ramble of names, "But one thing you can't call me, is Lyn... Only my friends call me Lyn." Lyn flipped and grappled the ceiling with small spikes in her gloves. She couldn't hold on like this forever, but she did know what she could do... but Sarah would need some time.
((@Flame-Shinobi- In post #662, I believe, I said how the dungeon was set up, here it is: The dungeon had large, dried pools of blood, and Armerio placed a Swarm Source under the largest one. Near the walls, and definitely in the corner, were thick curtains of darkness. It wasn't what you'd call bright in the rest of the dungeon either, so he could use this to his advantage. Also he could control the chains hanging and thrown down everywhere how he liked. He may even summon an Undead or two, he thought.
The Swarm Source will only give him very slight buffs at 1st. Try to find it before too long, however. So the Swarm Source is likely going to be what really ends up being a pain in the @$$, so I don't know how you'll end up finding it, you could notice that he's not really taking hits, or Lyn could start feeling weaker, but, just something to think about.))
*So Lyn it is,* Armerio thought, but out loud he just laughed, and it echoed through the whole dungeon once again.
He took a deep breath, then let some of his influence run into the chains in the dungeon. Three chains shot upwards at Lyn, and three flew at Sarah, with the intention of wrapping up both of them. The other five chains simply hovered, as if they were spectators to the fight. Armerio had his Sentenza trained on Lyn, ready to fire at her should she dodge.
*Your move, Lyn,* he thought.
((Ares and Vargas coming soon))
Lyn struggled as the chains grappled and wrapped around her. It was now or never...
"Sarah! Heart Attack, full power!" Lyn shouted out. A bright pink light enveloped the room, causing two things to happen. First off, the explosion that followed the bright light snapped the chains. Secondly, pink heart auras and symbols enveloped two things, a hidden Armerio (not so hidden anymore) and a small puddle of blood on the floor had been marked. Lyn looked closer at the puddle and noticed a pinkish and black hint to it, it was no puddle... It was a swarm seed! Lyn landed from the broken chains and looked at where Armerio was now revealed. She fired a shot at him and fired one at the swarm seed.
{If the shot hits Armerio, Lyn will rush him. If the shot misses she'll fire another shot at the swarm seed unless stopped, this second shot will freeze the swarm seed temporarily}
[Also, can Lyn destroy the swarm seed? Just a question.]
((Yea, Lyn can destroy the swarm source. She'd have to be hitting it really hard consistently though. Considering the circumstances, she's better of just preventing it from getting too big. I'll try and keep you updated with the size.))
*More battle sprite overworking. Sometimes I wonder which one's the knight,* Armerio moaned inwardly. It was a good idea, however, Armerio couldn't fault that. Lyn then proceeded to fire one shot at him and another at his Swarm Source.
*So she's discovered the Source? That should make this a little more interesting,* he thought smugly.
Armerio, for kicks really, let the shot hit him. It tickled due to his close proximity to the slightly but constantly growing source. She followed up with her hit by rushing Amerio, who simply shook his head.
"Kids these days," he said, and threw his Acheron right at Lyn's stomach.
((If that misses then he'll shoot at you, then go to pick up his sword. If it hits, then he tries to tie you up again with the chains. The Swarm Source is currently rectangular, for convenience's sake. It is a perfect square right now, with each side being 40 cm long, therefore, Armori and Lyn will only really feel the effect of it when they are in the same side of the room as it, like in this post))
Scorpio was angry at Creos. Why? His own stupidity. He had forgotten who had raised Scorpio.
"Creos, Creos, Creos, do you seriously think I cannot balance on a wall?"
At that, he launches a flurry of bullets where HE CAN SMELL YOU!
A massive obsidian hand blocks the bullets, and then grabs Scorpio and hurls him into the maze.
"DAMN YOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-OOF" Scorpio gets to his feet, and goes forward, takes a left, continues forward, takes a right, goes backwards and takes a left.
"Where in Vog am I?"
And saw the sword flying at her. She leaped up and kicked the sword from the air to the ground. Armerio fired a shot at her, and she ducked it. He was sprinting for his sword now, but she couldn't let him get it.
"Looking for this?" Lyn said grabbing his sword, angling it just right and going in for a high power stab, right into Armerio's gut.
[If the stab misses, Lyn will throw the sword into the ceiling and roll away firing two shots at Armerio's chest. If the stab does hit, she'll twist the blade in his stomach, leap onto the wall, and fire a charge shot at the swarm source, freezing it solid.]
Lyn grabbed Armerio's sword before he could get to it. Armerio swiftly took out his Sentenza and discreetly had it in his trailing hand. He was out of range of the Swarm Source now, so everything would hurt, but he'd take some hits, it didn't really matter much to him, as he was beginning to question his purpose a little. He couldn't focus on it now, however, as it was the time for battle, not philosophical monologues.
Lyn had a bit more guts than Amrerio had anticipated, as she went for a stab right at his gut.
*Well, to stab, your hand must be on the hilt,* Armerio thought.
Armerio took the stab, and experienced a register of pain for the very first time. It was interesting, but nothing to dwell on, as he had battle to carry out. As soon as the blade pierced his gut, he grinned indulgently, and fired three rapid shots at Lyn ((like so: Click Me ))
while she twisted the blade.
She collapsed on the ground and spat some blood from her mouth.
"Crap," Lyn thought, her plan wouldn't work now, what could she do now? Nothing but pray she assumed, but was quickly proved wrong. Sarah screamed out as if in pain ad quickly performed something to the effect of a Shadow Clone Jutsu. The multiple Sarahs flew up to Armerio's face and began scratching at him {Each clone still hurts} Lyn stood up and laughed, but landed again, what was she going to do? She had naught but a Winter Grave. Then it hit her, the pools of blood, she still had a plan. Lyn's pendant started glowing mildly and she gained a sudden boost of energy, hopefully enough for the fight. She sprinted around the room, freezing over the entire floor with her gun, even the swarm source. The spikes on her boots helped her glide across the ice. Upon completing icing the room over, the Sarah clones all faded and Sarah floated to Lyn's side. Lyn began skating circles around the wounded Armerio, laughing at him trying to provoke him to make the next move.
[I'm waiting for you Ares... ;3]
Syber spread his hands in a knowing gesture, "Well, one has to dress the part to get the job."
He dropped his hands and watched the chef take out food, "You can thank Armerio for the hordes he gets impatient when you take too long."
He looked around the halls, and wondered if his troops were getting impatient, or maybe to make sure he was where he was in the mush mash of the maze.
"Do you trust Gwen? I think she might be going for something else besides just defeating Apocrea. I mean c'mon, she's the core spirit, why would she need help from a bunch of knights?"
He looked over at the chef taking out the pack of food. He wondered if she were trying anything.
"I really don't care whether or not you answer my questions, but I got another, besides Gwen, who do think is the most powerful knight in your little group? Including yourself."

Bored, Slink looked up from the radar, beside him, Roland and Liam sat silently, Liam sorting through a spellbook, and Roland inspecting the edge of his Obsidian edge.
He knew the one of them planned to kill him and the other, but which? Slink made sure his rifle lay well within easy access and he unsheathed his dagger, laying it on the floor near him, ready to be grabbed in a moments notice.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Luke stumbled as his feet touched the ground. He seemed to be still in the castle but this looked like a completely different room. More of a library. Once he regained his footing, Luke took a cautious step forward, then another. Looking all around as he went.
On inspecting a bookshelves, he found interesting looking books. Ineligible symbols floated around.
"Hello?"
He looked around the library, and noticed a slight chanting. The words were soft, but they were there. He followed them, and they led to a woman holding a book and reading out loud.
She was a middle aged woman covered in a purple and black cloak, a hood covered her head but dull gray hair lay around her shoulders.
In one hand an open book glowed brightly, responding to each word chanted. In the other, held loosely, was a sharp looking shortsword.
Suddenly, the chanter looked up and finished the spell, a bright green energy shield appeared in a half dome around her, and she smiled evilly.
"Goodbye."
She pointed her sword at him, and energy sparked around it. When the energy reached the tip of the blade, a bolt of electricity shot from the tip and arced towards Luke.
Armerio was puzzled. What kind of madwoman takes the full brunt of three shots and starts ice skating like it was Winterfest? In any case, the battle sprite was getting annoying now. It was almost time for the preliminaries to be over, so Armerio stepped it up a bit.
First, he pulled his sword out and regenerated. It was a minor wound, all things considered. He drew his Furious Flamberge and ((just like when he was Purple-Eyes and he torched the Devilites)) swept it in a 360 degree arc, melting the ice. He pressed his hand to the ground, leaving a summoning rune there. He stepped back into the shadows and snapped his fingers.
"If you're going to insist on using that petty sprite, i'll bring in a few subordinates of my own don't you think?" he projected his voice through the dungeon again.
Out of the rune rose an Swarm Almirian Crusader, complete with its new Howlitzer gun. It fired the gun, and a five bullet spread raced towards Lyn. Meanwhile, Armerio kept a trained hand on his Hail Driver. Battle Sprites may have been part of the Order, but they were constructs nonetheless. That meant no Elemental damage.
He influenced four chains to grapple the battle sprite, ready to fire a charge shot at it shoulld it dodge.
((If they get her, they're going to tie into a ball, with no loose ends. They're Swarm chains, so that might affect Sarah's power. Also if they get her, Armerio's going to periodically tighten the ball.))
***
*That......hurt.* both Ares and Vargas thought.
For Vargas this revelation was more worrisome. He stared at his bracelet, and it touched it. It was burning hot. It had gone into overdrive trying to protect him from Ares.
Ares. He was just a boy, and was taking it to a Vanguard of his calibur. It was the epitome of ignominy. Under ordinary circumstances, he would've laid down his arms and surrendered, but there must be a way.
He paused. What were they all hoping to accomplish?
Armerio wanted control of at least the Clockworks.
Creos wanted Cradle to be under Apocrean rule, he assumed.
Syber and Beck were working for the Apocreans, but what did they really want?
And what did he want? To get revenge on the order that had wronged him. Whatever he did for them to cast him out, Vargas didn't rememeber. It was so long ago, and a lot of those years were lost in anger and bitterness, and it seemed his life was about to end in it as well.
"Do I really want this?" he breathed, almost imperceptibly, as Ares swaggered forward with his Sentenza, seemingly going for a point blank shot in Vargas's moments of distraction.
Vargas sighed, and lay down his arms. Armerio could not protect him anymore, as evidenced by the burning of his bracelet. He regretted this course of action as it hurt his pride, and Ares, as a knight, surely would see this.
***
*The fu-* was Ares's first thought when Vargas laid down his arms. The shot had hurt, his jawbone was pretty sore because of it, but really he wasn't damaged much at all. Vargas could be seen growing weary, and that was with the fancy Swarm bracelet.
Looking at Vargas, Ares realized he must be pondering the same concept.
"I win," Ares grinned maliciously.
He strode forward with a new swagger, and charged Sentenza held up and tilted to the side. It was over. Vargas had laid down his arms, it was over. Then he said,
"Ares, you know how much pride it took for me to do this. I rebelled against the Order because I felt they were unjust in banishing me, and ever since I have been seeking revenge. Maybe it is time for me to embark on a different path? Rebuilding my image in a new Spiral Order, one that returns to Isora? Please, Ares, hear me out," the middle-aged knight pleaded.
Ares put the charged Sentenza to Vargas's head.
Pippin:
"Armerio, huh... Then it really was as the real Ares said." Pippin thought out loud as she relished in the smell her own creation, becoming notably calmer by the second.
"Do you trust Gwen? I think she might be going for something else besides just defeating Apocrea. I mean c'mon, she's the core spirit, why would she need help from a bunch of knights? I really don't care whether or not you answer my questions, but I got another, besides Gwen, who do think is the most powerful knight in your little group? Including yourself." the Mercenary continued to ask his questions.
"Well, if I stop answering questions, then we'll probably end up fighting, right?" Pippin closed the food container and held her hand out from behind her cleaver.
"I'll answer, but are you hungry? From my honor as a chef, this food isn't messed with." She waved it slightly while keeping the rest of her body behind the cleaver as cover from the mercenary.
"But to answer your questions: No, I don't trust her. So far, she's been leading us from the nose for her own agenda." A bit of annoyance is present in Pippin's voice as she continues; "But we don't really have much of a choice when it comes to going along with her. I guess I could always surrender, but... I still have my pride, y'know?"
Pippin wouldn't mention the answer as to why she thought the Core Spirit needed the help of knights... The fact that Gwen was seemingly weakened and had been collapsing regularly since they arrived here was something that would not be a good idea to give away.
"As for the most powerful... Like I said, I have my pride. So I'll go with "Me." " Pippin sat for a moment after saying that, and then added, "Then again, how powerful a knight is would be dependent on the opponent they're facing, right? So, how about you, Non-Apocrean Apocrean-Mask-Wearer? Who out of your group do you think is the strongest?"
but Sarah was not so lucky with the chains, they grappled around her. Lyn screamed just as Sarah had before, but instead of magic, she fell to the ground.
"Look, you're after me, just, just let Sarah go... please." Lyn held her hands in the air, ready to surrender, when suddenly one of the walls blasted open. Still clad in bright shining mail, Swarmbane strode in. He cut the chains and Sarah floated to Lyn's side.
"I've got this from here on," Swarmbane said, drawing himself, (WTF?) "You fall back." Lyn took this as a sign she should rest, she shambled bact to a wall holding Sarah in her arms as though she was a small child, holding the last remnant of her childhood.
"Now then, you fiend," Swarmbane stomped and both the crusader and the swarm source faded away, "How about we have fair, one on one combat, you and me?" Swarmbane readied to fight Armerio, assuming he was up to a fair challenge.
_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-
Lyn called Ares on her com unit, "Ares, you might want to get over here. You won't want to miss this."
((I'm assuming Swarmbane is in the hands of....ugh gimme a minute...the form of Mark?? I'll edit if you need me to. In any case, with the re-introduction of Core energy, remember, back when Armerio first absorbed Swarm from Ares, Core energy only became a slight weakness for him. Let me do a copy and paste:
All Armerio's abilities mentioned in the Discussion thread http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/106177?page=6#comment-972350 are buffed.
They are all increased by 100% with additions being:
His Swarm body regenerates extremely slowly, in a limb limb torso limb limb head fashion. One per hour.
He can also create Swarm sources.
Otherwise: his time-related stats for corruption are cut in half, and his physical stats are boosted 100%. So Core energy is only a slight weakness for him now. ))
*How the hell did he get in?* Armerio wondered.
First he had to deal with the annoyance of the Battle Sprite, which was pretty much the pain it inflicted, and now this prissy upstart Core spirit from back in Haven just showed up and thought he could just stroll in and interrupt the battle. What was it with these people?
"Do I get no respect?" Armerio moaned to himself. This was all so odd, nothing like he'd expected. He should've kept Ares as his choice. Mentally checking in on Vargas, it seemed Ares was about to blow his brains out. Armerio wanted to help, but he had bigger issues to deal with. Nevertheless, he sent a pulse of energy to Vargas's bracelet and then focused.
His pink eyes turned purple with annoyance. The Core was the bane of the Swarm's existence. The Swarm had been created to kill The Core. And Armerio was going to start that right now, with this upstart white and gold bastard and his shiny Nightblade. ((Pokemon shoutout))
"Before we start, how did you even get here?" Armerio asked, then paused, and grinned.
"Never mind, dead men don't tell tales," he said, and started laughing maniacally.
He summoned a little more of his energy from the depths of his mind and the air in the dungeon seemed to be thinner, there seemed to be more pressure in the air as well. The lighting dimmed even further, as Armerio turned the walls into Swarm Sources. Summoning the chains, he gripped all 8 chains and corrupted them completely, then smashed them into the ground, serrating the metal, so they were sharp no matter where gripped the person.
He did all this while laughing. One might think he had gone insane. He regained composure abruptly, and said,
"Core spirit, I will take no pleasure in ending your existence, even though your very occurrence digusts every particle of my being. If I am to take over The Clockworks, I must eradicate the pests that took it over first. I started with the Knights, but first the sprite, and now you show up to make a mockery of my battle. Rest assured, I will kill you all. Seeing that you want the dubious honour of dying first, let's make it as quick as possible, shall we?"
Armerio drew his Cold Iron Vanquisher, and Hail Driver. He fired a shot from the gun, which was immediately charged, directly at Swarmbane's chest.
***
((By the way, I should note, Lyn just saved Vargas's life.))
Ares tightened his finger a little. Then his Com Unit crackled to life.
"Ares, you might want to get over here. You won't want to miss this." Lyn had said.
Ares was surprised at first. Why did she sound like she was having so much fun? Did she get a Tier 1 Jelly Cube or something? Ares moved the gun from Vargas's head and replied,
"Kinda in the middle of something right now, what's even happening?"
During this exchange, Vargas had noted a sudden resurgence in energy from the bracelet. Undoubtedly from Armerio, and it actually touched the Vanguard that Armerio would spare the energy, even if he didn't need it.
"Screw the order," he muttered. As Ares was going to display, they didn't care at all. He picked up his weapons, and charged his gun, pointing it at Ares's face, should he have chosen the moment to turn around.
He did, with gun raised as well, and seemingly unsurprised. The short distance between the knights seemed everlasting in the tense moment.
"Round 2, then," Ares declared.
They both fired.
"Well then, a duel it is," Swarmbane said flicking the shot away with the sword like it was nothing. At this Swarmbane leaped forward over Armerio's head swinging at it. He landed behind Armerio, ready to counter.
[If the overhead jump-swing hits, he'll follow up with a thrust, if it misses he'll prepare to counter your next move.]
Armerio blurred into the darkness. As he ran through the room, he shot at Swarmbane four times each from each wall of the room with his Sentenza.
((Remember, the Swarm Source is felt from all over now))
"I think I'll pass, I've eaten already." Syber was a little puzzled as to why the chef is eating at a time like this,
"On the fact of who in my group is most powerful, I think I'll just list off everyone and tell you why I think they are powerful." He said sarcastically, "but nice try, however, from your conversation with the other knights, I know that you know about both Armerio and Vargas, as well as Creos. Some of you may know me, but that should be obvious."
He holstered his guns and crossed his arms, "If I had to judge, I myself am just a knight, Armerio is like a swarm dude-thing, and Creos is a full on Apocrean, however he seems to flicker between her and not, with long points of silence on his end. In the end, I'll pick a safe answer and say that the Apocrean Hierarch is the most powerful, cuz hey, he's the big dude."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A flicker of movement caught Slink's eye, and his hand flew to his dagger. Looking up , he saw Roland withdraw his blade from Liam's limp body, a clean kill.
Seeing that Slink was aware, Roland smiled, "Suspicious one aren't we?" The traitor advanced, obsidian edge out, zeroing in for the kill.
Slink backed away a step, then held his ground, with one quick slice, the first swing was deflected from its route of
decapitating Slink.
He looked around and saw his rifle laying off to the side, unfortunately Riland saw too.
"Ah ah ah. Can't have the sniper getting his gun just yet." Roland moved between Slink and his rifle.
Knowing he had to act fast, Slink sidestepped, and looked for a hole in Roland's guard. He saw one, Roland kept his sword a little too high, and he would struggle to counter a low strike.
Slink dropped to a crouch and shot one foot out, making contact with Roland's forward foot. The swordsman fell staggered and Slink's knife flashed upwards, stabbing into the traitor's midsection. Now in close quarters, Roland struck wildly and the butt of his Obsidian Edge slammed into Slink's side, sending him into the ground.
Slink's hand touched something, his rifle, and he swung it around. Roland pried the knife out and spun towards Slink,
"Yaa-"
The battle cry died into a gurgle as Slink's bullet slammed right through the Swordsman's heart. The traitor was dead before he hit the ground.
Lowering his rifle, Slink let out a sigh of relief, and got up. He dragged both bodies out of sight and checked the radar again, the others were moving towards Syber, he had to warn him somehow, maybe he knew a way to warn them....
Swarmbane performed an elegant spin deflecting all but one shot, which he just missed and caught him in the leg. It stung, that much was true, but he could keep going for quite some time, being made of energy and all.
"Well then, I guess a fair duel is out of the question, if you are going to double your strength and attack from everywhere. I'll do the same," Swarmbane stomped his foot again, and his energy split, forming the rest of Mark's team standing around him. There was a small, stout knight in Ironmight plate set and wielding a Sudaruska. A tall, female knight with a gilded griffin and an argent peacemaker. And an average sized, crazed looking man, with bombs strapped wherever he could fit them.
"I have my team, now strike!" The squad members each moved to wall, ready to attack Armerio should he show his face.
[Each is weaker than the whole Swarmbane, but strong in there own way.]
Armerio threw his voice through the dungeon again.
"Au contraire, Core Spirit. I have not doubled anything. I haven't even used most of the strength I'm not holding back. If I were to double my speed or strength, it wouldn't be fun for me. If you had wanted it mano a mano in the middle of the dungeon, rather foolish, but whatever, you should've requested it specifically. And doubling your numbers is ridiculous, in fact, you've just made yourself easier to kill."
The pressure in the air grew unbearable, most everything would be on their hands and knees, on the brink of collapse under this sudden change in pressure.
(( Lyn herself will not take this very well, being a regular knight, as her bones and armor threaten to collapse inwards on her. Sarah's bolts would also threaten to pop))
"Don't you know the saying? United, we stand, Divided, we fall?"
The pressure suddenly alleviates, and all 8 Swarm reinforced and strengthened chains, attacked the bomber from all eight directions, attempting to wrap him.
During this Armerio blurs and stops in front of each of the other knights, appearing to be in the center of the dungeon, and phases out again.
((But the focus at first is the bomber. If at least 5 chains hit him, which is highly likely, i'll be honest. The chains are going to wrap him into a straightjacket and hover at the top of the dungeon, in the center of influences of all the Swarm Sources, where he will be weakest. They will then proceed to strangle the life out of him, quickly. It will happen in my next post.
Should 4 or less hit him, They will whip him repeatedly then slither back to the shadows, and Armerio will fire three Sentenza charges at you.))
((EDIT: Armerio's speech was grammatically off...might still be.))
The gunner, being the most disciplined of them all, ignored Armerio's trick. She did not fire, but stood still like an owl, scanning the area for him. The bomber was less lucky, 5 chains had grabbed him and tied him up. He began to struggle and foam at the mouth as if something was wrong with him. The Ironmight Knight noticed this and lopped the one chain off the wall allowing the bomber to hit the floor with a thud. Markbane (yup... sure) was not so lucky as to deflect all of the sentenza bullet but took the end of one charge to the gut. He stood up, and was in mild pain, the gunner ran to his side and he stood up fully. Only Lyn understood what was going on, and she didn't like it one bit. This was just like with the phantom, and that didn't end very prettily. At this Markbane called out, "I wish to see your face you coward. If you think us weak, then you will face us head on... would you not?"
The bomber's froth began to grow more and more frequent, and no part of swarmbane liked it.
{Tell me when it's okay for Lyn's team to pull through, I'm planning on winning, if that's okay with you :3}
((I can't just throw the fight, especially since it's Swarm vs. Core. This is literally why he was created. If you win, then you earned it. Lyn I wouldve let slide, but not this. Also, the chains aren't connected to the wall, they're literally hovering there, so the bomber.. he's still up there, and he's quite dead. And trust me, there are a lot of things you need to do to kill Armerio, I had created him to be the main antagonist after all, but Creos was inserted before him. And then the Hierarch idea took precedence.))
"I know you're goading me, and I'll go through with it anyway, but first...." Armerio started.
The bomber fell to the floor, completely still. The eight chains danced and slithered around. Eight eagles flew from the Sentenza, still shrouded in shadows, at the team members, Armerio was walking out shooting.
"I have some loose ends I need to tie up."
The eight chains flew at the Ironmight Knight, and Armori rushed behind the eagles towards the Gunner and the Original, his Cold Iron Vanquisher wide enough to cut deeply into both of them.
His smile was gone. His good mood gone sour. Playtime was over.
((Why the bomber died. Even if you had fired at the chain with the fact that they were hovering. That's exaggerating the effect of the Core on Armerio and his powers. He's actually slightly resistant to it. So one shot wouldn't cut it. The Ironmight knight I'll give 2 posts to live, if he's caught by 5, and my next post might be focused on trying to kill him in 1. If he's caught by 7 or 8, he gets till my next post. And he is in Ironmight.. so consider that))
Lyn shouted as the bomber fell to the floor, there was a strange hissing sound as this occured. Sarah threw up a bubble. There was a bright flash of light, and a huge explosion. All of the chains lay on the floor (That okay?). The remaining swarmbane team all merged back into one, and then the one raised his hand.
"You have bested me Armerio, your fighting style is very grand indeed, but you forget that I am not the only one here..." Swarmbane winked at Lyn. Swarmbane had kicked himself to her moments before. Upon the wink his energy leaped back into the blade and Lyn went for another thrust right to Armerio's chest... from behind.
((Yea no problem with that))
Armerio still shot at the Core..thing.. whatever-it-really-was. He had gotten less of a Core spirit vibe from it lately. Probably because it was so protective of the girl-Knight. And on, that, its energy dissipated and travelled...to the girl-Knight. How surprising.
Said girl-Knight was currently about to stab Armerio in the chest, but no matter.
He aimed his Hail Driver behind his shoulder, indeed directly at the girl, and when she stabbed him, which again turned out to be minor thanks to the three Swarm Sources, he let loose three charged shots from the Hail Driver.
The sword, slightly resistant to it as he was, did not mesh with his insides, which were brewing a revolt which would bring a catastrophic increase in power, not good for fun.
Pulling it out, he examined the blade, the white and the gold, and the Core essence it gave off. He caged himself in with the sword using the eight chains, and proceeded to bend the sword, with the intent to snap it into infinitesimal pieces.
***
Ares's shot hit, while Vargas's shot missed wildly.
"You should have stayed down, it's obvious your aim has," Ares sneered. Vargas staggered backwards, the shot had hit him in the arm.
"Well that's your one gun isn't it Vargas?" Ares commented. At this, he pulled out his Hail Driver and fired multiple shots. Vargas shielded against them, but was constantly pushed back by the shots, while Ares kept stepping forward. Eventually, Ares reached the Valiance.
"I have the Tortodrone version to this, but I fancy myself a collector of sorts, I'll keep this," he said. Vargas tried not to show his frustration. Ares fired a quick shot from the Sentenza, breaking the shield bubble. Grinning, he pulled out Vargas's Valiance along with the Hail Driver.
He charged both guns, while Vargas tried to figure out how to get out of this situation. He was a Vanguard after all, this shouldn't defeat him. Not after all that had happened.
She was horrified, her face would've shown fear if she hadn't been frozen solid. A deep heat began welling up with her and the ice rapidly thawed. Sarah began twitching and leaving an aura. There was a sudden burst of energy as Lyn arose in a fallen angel set wielding Vengeance, except at double size. She and Sarah both seemed corrupted, but not with the swarm. It was something twice as dark and evil, pure rage. Sarah had become a black kat, there was nothing holy or good left within the two, they had but one desire... Destroy. Lyn screamed out and suddenly they were in a blood soaked field. The chains, Swarmbane, swarm sources. All seemingly gone here. Lyn beckoned for Sarah to move back.
"ARMERIO!" Lyn shouted in a voice not hers in the slightest, it sounded like the voice of a warlord and a broken, crying child combined, "I WISH TO CHALLENGE YOU IN ONE ON ONE COMBAT. SWORDS OR FISTS, YOUR CHOICE." This dark version of Lyn awaited his reply...
{Lyn's personal color is now red. If she does win, she will not revert. Rather go to attack anything else. She and Sarah cannot be reasoned with in this stage. If Lyn looses, she will revert. If Lyn is talked down by another knight. She will revert. Her mother's necklace is now red. And she will not stop till she or her opponent is dead with her current mindset. Armerio could manipulate this though... maybe}
((You see, there's a reason the Swarm has a hive mind))
Armerio looked at her, and that sword. It looked nasty, but it was big. Something that big couldn't match his speed. Not to mention Armerio already knew it. It had killed a Swarm Phantom a day or two ago. His sense of time was gone, but the memory was there.There's a reason people with CIVs and DAs are heavy hitters and not strikers.
But seriously, what the hell was up with this girl? Now they were in some field, and his Swarm Sources were gone... AGAIN.
"You play a game you cannot win, child. You think I didn't sense the Swarm phantom being killed by that sword? If you think that sword can kill me, you're welcome to try, I draw my Divine Avenger first. But I grow wearisome of these games, child, and I will end them soon. Maybe I'll move on to Ares," Armerio grinned.
Armerio looked Lyn in the eyes, wondering if she would keep the eye contact.
But they did not focus, she appeared to stare right through Armerio, into his mind, she let out a berserk battle cry and charged mindlessly forward at Armerio, nothing mattered now. Hit or miss Lyn would berserk charge after Armerio swinging. There would be no foreseeable end to ehr onslaught but something was different in her swings. Each swing grew repeatedly faster, and so did Lyn. Vengeance soon hit a speed where it combusted, Lyn charging across the battlefield senslessly. She was mad alright but there was no stopping her.
(Basically describing Lyn's actions for the next two to 3 of Armerio's. The only way Lyn is going to stop is for Ares to talk her down once done with Vargas. Her rage will continue growing 'till then, and you don't want it to get too high)
Scorpio walked through the pitch black maze, sullenly. It was.... depressing. Suddenly, a slight figure dressed in pristine Almirian Crusader armor appeared. Could it be? After all these years?
"Karos?" Scorpio asked, skeptically.
"Yeah, it's me old friend." He said in his still strange accent. Under his helm, he looked extremely strange. He had two large eyes with brown hair and elephant like skin
"Are the others here?"
"Yes. But we have one question for you." At that, a gremlin holding a Warmaster Rockethammer and a huge Jelly Kingish pink slime stepped out.
"Do you realize how much you have failed us?" They said, in creepy unison.
"What? I haven't failed you. I carried on our memory."
"You ran from Creos. You let us all die."
"NO! NO! You are not my friends. My friends would never say these things to me. I don't believe you" Scorpio ran, he ran until his friends were gone. But they followed, hovering with incredible speed. As if on cue, a figure clad with full Plated Firefly Sentinel armor stepped out of the shadows. A portion of her helmet was gone.
"Lilly?" Underneath his helmet Scorpio was incredibly happy. Delightful, after years of a grim face.
"Scorpio, I'm so glad to see you." She took of her helmet, revealing a nasty wound and flowing blond hair. The injury quickly disappeared. She took off his helmet and hooked against his belt.
"We have to do this now?" Scorpio protested. In response, she pressed her lips against his, and (Please yell at me if I'm being too descriptive) it felt like they were young again. He loved the taste of her lips as much as he had those years ago. Lilly pulled back.
"Don't believe what they say. They're just Creos' illusions," Lilly put his helmet back on. "Get the hell through this maze."
"But can you come back with me to Haven?" Scorpio begged.
"I'm sorry my love, but I must stay here." With that, she donned her helm and walked towards where she had came.
EDIT: Something wasn't quite to the caliber I like.
[[I may have to revise if Slink had some sort of Silencer on his Rifle. But I don't think he does... There wasn't any mention of it. I think. Also, I still can't move Strom and Min without Gwen.]]

Pippin:
"Hmmm? That's pretty humble, considering your job occupation. If I was a potential employer, I'd be very disappointed by your loss of bravado." Pippin replies smugly at the Mercenary's analysis of the power levels of his allies. She then clicked the container she had opened shut, and returned it to her SMC.
"Then again... A Heirarch would be pretty powerful, I gue--"
Before finishing her sentence, she heard a single "Bang" from somewhere, cutting her off. She instantly snapped her hand up to her cleaver and cracked the weapon towards the noise of the shot but... No collision came. An echo of some sort?
She had noticed it before, but this place really had an echo... It must have been something to do with the fact that the entirety of this place was made of stone-like obsidian. It was the equivalent of walking on polished marble tiles down a long hallway; sounds were partially distorted (probably due to the internal structure of this area), making the origins of said sounds locations hard to track, but they still traveled.
Regardless of the fact that echoing was easy here, the fact that what did echo didn't result in a hole in Pippin's head surprised her. Clearly it was some sort of Gunshot, but who had let it off? It certainly wasn't the Mercenary in front of her, which meant that it was probably one of his partners -- which had yet to reveal themselves, as Pippin had guessed. Had whoever let off a shot missed? Or was Pippin not the only opponent that this Mercenary had to deal with? Resulting in combat on two ends? Pippin dismissed that last thought -- if the group was separated so easily, why would combat be put so close together?
She figured that she may as well ask the Apocrean-dressed Isoran right in front of her after lifting her SMC up, and fastening it to her back. Even if he was a composed fellow -- which Pippin didn't even know whether he was or not -- surely a stray shot would end with some sort of information-giving reaction.
"So... Seeing as we're having such a wonderful time of Q and A, I'll just go ahead and ask another question. What the heck was that noise?"
When the shot sounded, Syber turned around in surprise. Nobody was supposed to do anything yet. He unholstered his Peacemaker and checked his radar, all over the area the blue blips signaling his team all blinked out one after another. His numbers dropped threefold, his mind raced, how could this happen, the only way they could disappear from the radar is if they had a really powerful recon cloak, or they die.
He looked at Pippin and wondered if he'd have to ally with her soon.
Turning away from her, he activated his comset and made a connection with Sheogorath.
"What in Vog is happening, where'd everyone go?"
There was a pause, and then he replied, "I'm... Not sure, maybe some of them are traitorous."
Then a click, Syber had been disconnected. He was sure Sheogorath was lying, although he couldn't be sure what about.
He turned back to the chef, and listened to what she asked him once again.
"You know, I'm actually not sure..."
With his Peacemaker in both hands, he pointed it down one hallway and switched gazes between the two, not sure anymore who he could trust.
((I'm a little busy so I can't post the other characters, Ember-Break, would you rather a friendly come to warn Syber and then get killed, or an enemy come and warn him the other way?))
Armerio parried the first few swings, noticing with interest the increased intensity of the power and speed of the swings. At his current level, he'd actually pop a few beads of sweat. Then Armerio sensed a critical point in the sword. Jumping back a bit, he watched the sword combust, and Lyn charge senselessly across the battlefield.
*"This won't do,"* Armerio thought, bemused and bewildered.
Blurring to behind Lyn, Armerio used the Divine Avenger charge quickly. It aimed right at Lyn, primed to knock her off her feet, and force her to look into Armerio's eyes.

Vargas shield bashed Ares, who was naturally distracted by his sudden hold of momentum, which had been rudely bashed out of him. Vargas ensured he grabbed his Valiance, at shot Ares 4 times for good measure.
"Scum, should not touch the weapons of a warrior," Vargas scoffed haughtily.
Ares was already back on his feet, shaken, but not letting it affect him unduly. Drawing his Acheron, he said,
"Who knew excrement could have a sense of pride? Does this mean my toilets have a sense of nobility?"
Vargas took exception to that. Charging at Ares, he dodged an Acheron swipe at the last second, much to Ares's surprise. Vargas slashed Ares with his Leviathan Blade in the side with surprising force, even knocking Ares backwards. Ares took advantage of the space by firing four shots with his Sentenza, but due to the reaction to the previous two attacks, he was still unsteady, therefore he missed each shot badly.
Vargas pressed the issue. He fired two shots from the Valiance, and batted Chomp aside with his sword as if the sprite was nothing but an irritating fly. The battle sprite landed violently, chipped into dormancy by the harshness of its expulsion from the battle. Vargas fired three shots at a rolling Ares, missing the first two, but the last one hit, as Ares was attempting to get back to his feet. He was rocked backwards by the hit, but did not fall again.
Ares stood as ready as he could possibly be, which in this case meant he was in a drunken stance with his Acheron held unsteadily, and his Snetenza wavering.
Vargas laughed, and drew his Leviathan Blade for what he assumed would be the final assault.
Scorpio took a quick sniff of the air. Could he find his way out?
"CREOS I CAN SMELL YOU!"
He raced towards the scent, and at the sight of Creos, released three volleys of bullets
Pippin:
Pippin noticed the Mercenary looking back towards the hallway, and smirked behind her Cleaver. Something was happening, and it wasn't looking good for the Knight in front of her.
"Oh? If you don't know what's going on despite being the leader, then there are only two possibilities..."
With one hand, she lifted her cleaver off the ground and rested it over her shoulder. With her other hand, she rose her index finger, and continued.
"One, no one in your group knows what's going on because those who do are no longer able to tell you, or..." Pippin raised her middle finger for a 'two'
"Two, your merc. buddies are cannibalizing one another. Traitors looking to remove others for a bigger cut of the prize money, maybe." She then brought her hand to her chin, as if in deep contemplation. She even closed her eyes for the added effect.
"Either way, things aren't looking good for you... So how about we make a deal?" Pippin opened one eye and gazed at the mercenary. If she could somehow pair up with this guy to unravel what was going on, she might gain some leverage to get out of this situation...
"Seeing as I'm stuck here with you, I wouldn't mind helping you find out what the situation is. But in return..." Pippin raised her cleaver and swing it forward to point at the knight. "You'll guide me out afterwa--"
Unfortunately, in the heat of the moment and the excitement to escape the situation, Pippin didn't activate her hand's Grip-Mods, resulting in the cleaver flying slightly to the side of the mercenary and crashing through an obsidian pillar behind him.
Before she could somehow correct the situation, however, a knight clad in the Apocrean getup stumbled to the side of the pillar -- probably from being hit by a couple of crumbling stones, shook his head to correct his mind, and ran towards the mercenary.
He shouted something, too, but Pippin was too aghast at the fact that she had almost ruined a deal to rid her of all this stress to hear it.*

[[@Colray
The * at the end means you can come up with what the Apocrean says. It really doesn't matter whether it's a friendly merc clad in the same armor as Syber coming to warn him, or if it's an enemy who just got his cover blown. Do whatever you feel is best -- it's your (Delta) plan, after all!]]
by Armerio's charge. She hit the ground with a sickening thud. She stood right back up staring at Armerio. Her eyes had been replaced with flames. She had no emotion on her face. She swung Vengeance at Armerio at such a speed it was barely even a blur.
Sarah still had a lick of sense in her, and she could tell Lyn was almost gone. The rage was consuming her quickly.
But Armerio had seen all he needed to. The girl was almost gone, and if she went, Armerio would need to kill her. Quite frankly, he didn't see the point in killing her. It would be a waste. Plus, he suddenly had a whim to kill Ares first, if Vargas hadn't finally gotten his wits about him.
He focused on the moment of eye contact he had with the mentally slipping Lyn, meanwhile blurring around most of Lyn's sword strikes himself. He was hit and slashed several times, but he was beyond noticing those at this point. He had reached mental contact with Lyn.
Armerio attempted the hypnotism.
________
Lyn would suddenly see Armerio as Ares. She would hear her mother's voice telling her
"Lyn, calm down darling,"
Then, Ares-Armerio ((if that makes sense)) speaks to Lyn.
"Lyn, Lyn, back to earth Lyn. Calm down, I'm here now. Armerio's gone," he says.
________
((That is if the hypnotism is successful. If not, you determine what Lyn does next. Armerio has a few nicks and slashes, but it all constitutes to another minor injury he can regenerate from and come back at you.))
But sadly, he was just too late. As Lyn was just about to hear the voice, she lost consciousness.
"Finally. I am free," Lyn's voice no longer had a broken child's in it only a pure booming anger, "You Armerio. You have tried to stop me from obtaining this shell, now you will pay. Lyn's body floated up and a flaming red demon-like figure appeared around it. It formed a giant flaming sword, and swung down at Armerio.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Sarah broke back into personality when Lyn was "lost". Sarah new Lyn could be saved, but she'd need help. She quickly flew over to Armerio and created a bubble. The sword collided and sparks flew as the demon kept putting force through the sword into the bubble. Sarah was a normal Seraphynx again. She attempted metal contact with Armerio. If successful, Armerio will hear a small girl's voice. It will say.
"You. Swarmy guy. Lyn is still in there, but not for long. I need your help. We have to knock the sword from Lyn's hand in there." Sarah will then make a gesture toward Lyn holding Vengeance in the center of the flaming mass.
{Temporary alliance? If not Armerio is going to be pummeled. This thing is a few stories tall. Not killed, but hurt.}
((@Ember-Break: Edit finished))
Ares barely noticed anything. He stepped forward a few feet, looking forward, but distanced for some reason. Dark Swarm-esque blocks enveloped him, shrouding him in total darkness, but he made no reaction. It was like he was sleepwalking. Chomp gently bit him, but got no response. Chomp was worried, as he had never seen his master like this. Plus the black cubes that pushed them through the darkness made him nervous. It didn't last long however, as they soon reached what seemed to be a door. It pushed them through the door as well, and Chomp noted as it melded into nothingness, sealing the exit. The knight from the portal was there too, and he seemed to be immediately taking the offensive.

Vargas didn't waste time with pleasantries, he was lusting for blood. Plus, Ares already knew what was going to happen, right? However, Vargas, rather recklessly launched himself into an aerial full body tackle. Frankly, he was surprised when he hit. He was already planning his recovery.
***
The two stumbled to their feet quickly, circling each other, CIV and Leviathan Blade at the ready. Then, Ares dropped his arms, sword hanging loosely from his hand. Vargas stopped and stared at his adversary. He was alive, but seemed dead. His eyes were glassy, and his limbs barely provided enough support to keep him upright.
"Ah well, no matter," Vargas grinned. Shooting Chomp, who landed around 10 feet away from Ares on the ground. Vargas fired three shots at Ares.
*Let's see him just stand up and take those,* Vargas thought maliciously.
To his surprise and bemusement, that was exactly what Ares did.
"What?" he wondered out loud, exasperated already.
***
Ares was trapped in his mind by the small amount of Swarm corruption, which had taken a surprising boost in power when they had been trapped in those black cubes.
Since then, the corruption had not allowed him out of his mind, and he watched, and felt Vargas hit him four times. It hurt, but it wasn't like Ares could do anything about it. The corruption hadn't even manifested itself, so he really had to ride this out. What Ares did know for sure was that the corruption wasn't acting maliciously, but independently was trying to protect him from more corruption. Once he regained control, there would be a stern talking to.
