About the Gunner Update. Why has it taken so long? I have a theory about that. Everybody is assuming it's all bug fixes and testing armor and guns. I think its possible that the Game Devs have actually been working undercover to do some of that stuff that Nick suggested. You know, post Vanguard missions, new tier 3 boss, sandbox experience arcade, that kind of stuff. This is just a theory, it's probably not right, but it might be possible.

I can definitely confirm that post-Vanguard missions have been in the works since at least April. In fact the several mission reworks on May 21st were to help connect the current story leading up to Vanguard with what will happen in the upcoming post-Vanguard campaign (or in other words, the May 21st update was the "Modified Rank Mission Campaign" from "What's in Development - September 2013")
Wish I could show proof, but rules are rules, and considering my proof would have to be strings of text from upcoming missions... yeah. I'm pretty sure that goes far above and beyond "DO NOT: Post exploits, spoilers, or other sensitive information about the game."

The point is why would such a small team try and get everything done on Nicks list all at once? I'm sure Nick said that what is to come will be over several updates so if OOO are indeed working on something other than the Gunner Update that means we will get the Gunner Update and also some in progress other update. All in all it won't be worth the wait.
Or what I believe is they will shock us all by adding so much to the Gunner Update it will change the way we play Spiral Knights forever!

How long has it actually been? 12 months dead on?
if someone is actually thinking that the gunner update is taking so long for bugfixes and testing it must have been hybernated for 6 months and nobody informed them that time passed. gun balancing can't possibly be taking* this long.
*now that I've said that, tropes law says it can.
