You all write too much....
WE WANT LD T2
Shouden't you be rocking your daddy's throne or something ? No ? Then STFU and pet a cat bruh <3 Coz you ain't even from the T2...And if you wanna 'generate interest from newer players to try out the Coliseum', try something else like the New Recruit section...
@Contri You need to lose weight bro!
Are you kidding me? Cause I'm not laughing. You ain't Lechery....Lech is quiet and won't do crab that you've done bro <3
I'll send you a mail on him later to prove it, but I'm not at a computer right now. I did a name change and made an alt with it to preserve the name.
I left BS after I tried to rebuild the image and made Save The Queen.
I was there with Pnusy, Forest and the rest.
I used to be quiet, but not now.
It's not that I don't like you, it's just the way you act isn't you. Because I knew you back then and you were fine.
But this is besides the point.
All I want is for newer players to know T2 exists and to give it a chance, that's all. No taking from T3. No force starting it using the same people. Just to give it a chance.
Oh okay! Did you know why T2 died? It's Mist energy update...Guess
Yes, but it had multiple factors. There's no denying it's dead and T3 reigns supreme. I just would like to think of some way to spark interest for new people, or to show them there is a Coliseum at all.
You guys are still idiots <3 The reason T2 died is because T2 LD guild has been extincted thanks to the main T2 guild ! Brick Squad <3 You know why it died? Because some doofus named Forest-Dragon became the head GM of the guild and he gave up on it since Pnusy is busy! Thanks you Beach! And I thought Pnusy's decision is bad enough...Seriously, if you guys like T2 so much, at least think of the past...
after reading what contri said i think we went too far from the main point. i dont care about reasons for why LD T2 dead or the story or anything about the past its nothing more than useless to think about.
ALL I WANT IS REVIVE LD T2.
if you will post something post something helpful not punch of useless talk and personal problems sure including me.
atm i cant try make a LD T2 cuz of my school exams i was trying to get information about players who would like to help or to play. one week next week end i will start working to make ld t2 any player who would like to join me just post you ingame name. the invite for all.
Might as well tell you (the idiot) how to revive it cause you have mental probs...Make a friggin T2 guild Dumb Uss...I swear to god, you have the brain of a fish...
After seeing how a thread like this ends up it's no wonder we don't have more LD players, y'all are some hateful jerks....
If by "y'all" you mean Fall there, then yes. Not sure why he's being a sour snipe lately.
OMG ... hellscream , I apologize for my langague but you need to be told.. you are such an ass.
The topic author said he doesn t aim at taking t3 people and send them to t2 ,all he wants is reviving t2 that is to say make t2 players play lockdown. Is some t3 players (such as the author)want to go to t2 from time to time, what s wrong with it?
And making a t3 guild where players organize to launch a t2 match is definitely NOT reviving t2.
Reviving t2 is putting back the game in the situations where t2 games most of time happen SPONTANEOUSLY with t2 players.
In this topic, you are invited to propose ideas to do so.
If you are clever enough to determine the issue that killed t2 ld( you said mist update), then I m sure you can find a solution or at least find an idea so that we can work togethet to try to make it true.
Don t forget that t2 games are potentially more future t3 games.
All this in-fighting and egotism is the exact reason why T2 is dead in the first place. I don't even have to dig for any screenshots; the proof is right here.
B-b-b-but the skill ceiling! The competitivity! The guild lo- oh wait, that's all dead.
Look I'm T3 (and doing LD) and I can tell you that most of the T3 are BS all because of their GF, DA and Polaris combos. You don't see many people not with them in T3 which means the LD is very BS. So (in my option) I think it is time to bring back T2 LD and to make the new players enjoy and do some LD.
Agree or Disagree?
Are you sure they're reviving T2? Cause I thought they're just trolling...They can't even make 8 players join T2 LD...And they ain't trying crap <3 They've thought making a T2 match can revive T2 LD...Like I said, lazy and st00pid at the same time. I can bet that by the next 6 month, they'll still be hopeless...
Essentially the very last successful attempt at reviving (or jump starting) Tier two was:
Pinnacle VS. Brick Squad nearing the end of last summer.
I owned Pinnacle, worked with many other Tier 3 players Including King-Cerrin and Ragingstorm.
Immediately after we won every one of those Guild vs. Guild matches every aspect of Tier two began to crumble and it was a very unfortunate string of events for everyone involved.
Players like Striateds and my friends from CV, such as Brother-Zeke and Klipik, supported me as I first entered the Tier two scene, and I've been an avid supporter ever since. Even if I may have surpassed them in Tier two I can still look up to them as my original mentors when I started playing Tier two, nearly three years ago. (Food for thought, from my personal experiences, I can say that without proper mentors supporting the new players instead of just using them as punching bags to start the games, Tier two will never get off the ground).
Now, my personal story beside, I've been at the head or co-head of many guilds since in attempts to bring back Tier two matches, but every time we had successfully started it the matches were short-lived. We've tried involving and accepting anyone interested but most attempts result in players uninterested or leaving because of the school year.
I believe that the issues you all stated here, and the support you show for Tier two is exactly that: you will openly support Tier two but when it comes down to it organized construction of a group of active Tier two players cannot be reached without an active participation by the majority. If we really do want to bring Tier two games back we must be willing to create either one of two things :
1) A guild network with the entire purpose of trying to make more active Tier two games
or
2) A Network of friends that makes up as many Tier two enthusiasts as possible.
Obviously, this is easier said than done, but if the end results were Tier two games as active as when I first started playing (about 4 T2 games going on at nearly all times of the day), would you then say it was worth the effort?
Don't get me wrong, I do not wish to influence the choices of others, or make Tier three players feel like they are responsible for what has happened to Tier two,nor do I wish to take players away from their loyalties to their guilds.
All I want is to try to bring in some ideas to help everyone in support for Tier two come to some sort of organized party that can really get this done, and if any tweaking needs to be done, please, feel free to add anything or modify anything I've said to throw in any other information you think might help.I will happily accept any constructive criticism, and any ideas you guys have already posted that you think could mesh in with what I've said and maybe create a stronger strategy. "We need to support those players and not be elitists who crush them into the dirt and call them stupid nubs. We need to help those players get the experience and tools they need to become an active part of the community. Because the community needs to grow. Because we don't have OOO to keep the community alive, we need to do it ourselves."--Klipik.
"I think the main problem is indeed that new players are not even aware of the coliseum until they pass t3, when it's too late to go t2."--Valtiros. While this is an excellent point, it isn't something as easily changed by the community as we have no control over what OOO does with the game material. At least, not directly. We could try to work with this but there's no guarantee it will change. I fear that the beliefs of the game devs is that doing this would make it so that beginners are required to play a game or games of coliseum modes, which many may not wish to do. Should that be the case, then they would be stuck in the mission line until they decide they're willing to deal with the current lack of games and wait. On the other hand, this could also cause an insurgence of players in Tier two because of the fact it is required to advance in the story line. A great idea for a quick filling of player slots, but probably won't be very easy to pass into the game.
"And the only way to get T2 back on a regular basis is a massive influx of players to the game as a whole."--Klipik. As true as this statement is I fear that without any new genuine content -- not any new gear or modifications to game mechanics, or even these new prize boxes will fix that.
" I like T2. It's more fun to me. I want to play it. Is that too much to ask?"--Klipik. No, it shouldn't be.
" It would be really good if us T3 players stayed in T3 and didn't ruin the games of lower ranked knights with our uved items and trinkets. Leave T2 as a safe haven for young knights to play in without fear of being trounced by some jerk who can only feel good by beating severely underskilled and underpowered players."--Holy-Nightmare. I feel as though while your point is completely correct, something T3 or just vanguards in general could try to do is use their cobalt sets - or make anything weak, like how i use my wolver most of the time, then they could nerf themselves while trying to show support for Tier two, and support for the rookies.
"Remember back when T2 was all the rage, and a T3 game was rare? Ah, good times..."--Gianor. Indeed.
"You can't force players to abandon Tier 3."--Theirillusion. Nobody here is trying to do that, it is not stated in anyone's reply (for those in favor) that we are trying to remove Tier 3 for our own sake. The only reason I can imagine that people would assume that is that they are (for some odd reason) in fear of this actually happening, which it won't, and you will do whatever it takes, including strip the fun from other players which, in turn will ultimately lower the playerbase, just so that your favorite pass time is preserved. That is, until you all realize that if players start leaving, including the ones that sometimes play Tier 3, you will certainly notice.
"T2 is for nubs...There, I've said it !!!"--Fall-Hellscream. If people wan't to play, then who cares? One of the main reason nobody plays Tier two anymore is precisely because of what you're doing here. "Pros" consistently bash them for doing things wrong when they haven't given them any time to learn how to play better. This is one of the main reasons why Tier two has died, and it's clear that you're not helping in the slightest.
"Too bad you used AT Honey <3"--Fall-Hellscream. Too bad everyone in Tier 3 uses it or even "toggles" (whatever that means), so this point doesn't really matter.
I know I saw someone mention this as an idea, but I don't remember exactly who. I think I may have a somewhat moderate, slow solution, but it is one that would only be fulfilled by the OOO team.
If there was such a thing as a "Practice Lockdown" Mode. I've given this some thought, and I believe I have finally decided on fair rules.
For any player of any rank :
Practice Lockdown would consist of the same three classes as normal, but with specific limitations:
- Every class would be required to use a specific set of gear to level the playing field, getting rid of dumb luck and UV-powerhouse situations.
- Every class would either have max trinkets for the tier or no trinkets for the tier (I could really care less about which way that was taken.)
- Every class would have fully heated gear, and use the same star level, but not necessarily the same sets of armor and weapons.
- In this way, Recon could use the default bomber equipment, guardian could use the default (I don't know, maybe) Plate equipment, and striker could use default cobalt equipment (when I say default, I mean level 10 heat and no UVs).
- As for weapons, each player could be assigned the same weapons that would typically be found in a game of Lockdown, instead of only the default gear given to players through the mission line. This could include things such as heavy swords and quick swords in the striker loadout, 1 gun and 1 mist bomb in the recon loadout, and 1 heavy sword and 1 blast bomb for the guardian loadout (again, just ideas so don't take this as set in stone).
- As for heat of weapons, I believe it should be either level 5 (If no trinkets) or 10 (If trinkets are default).
This would be an adaptation of someone's idea to have everyone use cobalt and give the new players a chance, In this case everyone would be forced to use, say, cobalt armor, or whatever it is that is decided upon. (frankly, most likely cobalt.)
However, here's the catch:
~ The price to enter is dropped to 120 crowns.
~ There is no crown gain for winning a Practice Lockdown Match
~ Every team member gets 1 Krogmo Token for finishing a game, regardless of winning or losing.
~ Each match has the same goal and time limit as a regular game of Lockdown (500/900 points, 8 minutes).
This would prevent any complaints of "vanguards being too powerful" and ruining Tier 2 for the rest of the players, because they have a place to go where the battlefield would be as even as possible, and would only allow for skill to decide who wins. Now, if every veteran from the old Tier two days played with the beginners, this would completely ruin the point, and should only be used as an idea for supporting the community. While tempting to me even to play a game that would hopefully be more readily available, I feel as though the participation of vanguard veterans as a whole would simply continue to cause new players to feel diffident in their approach to Lockdown, and likely quit. If anyone here feels as though I need to edit or add anything, please run it by me to create the best plan possible.
Unsuccessful Guilds / Ideas:
~Pinnacle (Players leaving for school priorities)
~Tier two tournament (not my idea, but never actually took place.)
Current Guild : Demonology
Last Edit: 12/26/14 - 9:01 PM
Currently, many have moved onto T3 LD because of the lack of T2 games, school, and etc.
My friend who some of you may know, Sachaitz, sometimes asks me to help him start a game of T2 LD, but usually it ends in a failure as many do not feel like playing it. Pretty much the only games that ever start nowadays are not random, but set up matches.
Last summer had a larger handful of T2 matches because many more players had more time to game during the break. There was pretty much one game everyday.
Overall, you'd probably have to join a T2 guild such as Demonology to have a chance to get a game as of now.
I think Illusion has a good point no one's actually talked about; there may simply be not enough people interested in any kind of LD for T2 and T3 to coexist with the current playerbase.
I also think a guild entirely centered around reviving T2 will last about as long as the average Darkcub Anti-Jempire guild. Or any only-LD-focused guild. The reason CVA is one of the only LD guilds from the "T2 Golden Age" that's still alive and has consistently remained relatively active this whole time is because we adapted. We stopped focusing 100% on LD and started being a real guild, while LDA, Brick Squad and the rest fell apart under pressure from infighting and inactivity. Guilds centered around only LD tend to involve frequent fights, players leaving and joining constantly, and a weak "community" that's nothing more than of a group of people who are only in the same guild because it lets them do Lockdown more and don't really have much else in common.
There needs to be an actual stable community around T2, or it'll never last. If you want an example of that, look at the American competitive FPS scene from 2011 to now. First Halo: Reach, then Halo 4, then CoD:BO2, then CoD:Ghosts, all suffered from the same wild instability. Players were playing on teams without contracts, and every MLG the teams and rosters were completely different from last time. Often the winning team from the previous event had 50%+ different players, or was disbanded entirely. The only reason that scene still exists is because Activision pours money into an official CoD world championships. (And because Halo: TMC just came out.)
Now compare this to The European CS:GO scene. There's a community that's deeply invested in its own game. They have a tournament circuit made of entirely unofficial (as in not made by Valve) events. It has substantial prize money, great viewer numbers, and the top teams have stable rosters and can be found performing well again and again.
So we don't need one T2 LD guild, or two, or ten. We need enough people, and/or enough guilds, that care about T2 and will play it regularly enough, and present it well enough, that new people will be interested in T2 and want to play it regularly as well. We need to support those players and not be elitists who crush them into the dirt and call them stupid nubs. We need to help those players get the experience and tools they need to become an active part of the community. Because the community needs to grow. Because we don't have OOO to keep the community alive, we need to do it ourselves.
I think the main problem is indeed that new players are not even aware of the coliseum until they pass t3, when it s too late to go t2.
Well, this t2 thread gave me the idea of creating a suggestion that aims at increasing the amount of players in the coliseum, as well in t3 as in t2 and. why not in t1?
So, you know.. go give your own ideas : http://forums.spiralknights.com/fr/node/106703
And Support! :)
Hiya.
I USED to be a T2 player who didn't play T3 because I sucked at T3. However, I basically quit Lockdown, and SK as a whole. We can talk about ways we can bring back Lockdown, but first we have to talk about
HOW
THIS
GAME
IS
PRETTY
MUCH
DEAD.
It's not pretty, but it's kind of true. Yes, the gunner update was a step in the right direction. Yes, the tortodrone stuff is really cool. However, as with all F2P grindfests, the game gets boring way too quickly for most. There has to be new players in order to replace the retiring ones. If I was a new player, I would quit the game almost immediately because of the massive grinding alone. In terms of content, this game is actually amazing. It is one of the best in the whole industry.
The bottom line is this: If the economy doesn't change to lessen the grind, T2 will remain dead and T3 will die later. You can add all of the new weapons you want OOO, but things have to change. Sorry for the pessimism, it's just my problem with a game that used to be such a big part of my life.
The game is going downhill. The gunner update doesn't seem to be bringing in players. The whole point of this game is to achieve vanguard, get gear, etc. Lockdown happens just to be a mini-game. I used to really love T2. When I first started it I was that guy in a magic hood with crap weapons who loved playing recon. Then I found a this set that changed everything. Pretty much I played it alot until I see lots of players leaving or moving on to T3 and now we zoom into reality. To play T2 now you need to literally start a game by getting 8 people to play. There aren't enough players in the game, more specifically not enough T2 players that are even willing to try it out. Trying to revive it is pretty much useless... Creating a guild wouldn't help or anything like that. All the best though.

Not quite, but I recognize that is a valid concern. I can't speak for the others, but no; I don't wish to take people out of T3. I wish to generate interest from newer players to try out the Coliseum, that's all. If people want to come out of T3 on their own, then more power to them, but that's really missing the point of the idea.
