I don't know how to start? I even forgot who I am???? Thin? Plz help?
Forsaken World (discussion)
And yet here I am being the aggressive one when all I did was try and be nothing but helpful...right back to practice for UGC's Team Fortress 2 Highlander Season 15 Steel division...
Which commanders have been taken, which are tentative? Also, if you have NPCs that need minor controlling or anything like that, you have a volunteer.
@Topogaming: You wanted to be Winter Grey, right? She's still available.
@Psychnade: Aim higher, bud. It's okay to do that here. ;-)
@Darkwatck: Wut? I didn't disallow non-captains or smaller characters. I just discourage them. Your character is fine, if that's what you're worried about.
@Sawhero: F-G is Serris Lengsk, Colray is Solomon Trent, Archemiday expressed interest in Darian Reflet, and I've assigned Topogaming to Winter Grey. That makes Desna Conroy, Evaria Sintaris, and Cecilia Barlowe available. I'm currently handling Cecilia, but I have no particular attachment to her.
Evaria looks like a fun one, especially with the deserts. If no one objects, I should have my first story post soon.
Thin:
Ya you told me he was fine. I am doing everything I can to make it seem like he is losing it and or the Dark Matter is effecting his soul and mind/body. The only thing that is keeping him simi-sane is the DNA which was fused into him. Since dictation says they are smart and wise those kinds of creatures take TIME to go insane this the fact I am giving as best a detailed distinction of his slip into that madness, which is taking place around the same time as your meeting. Also this would be a good time to bring up the experimentation on him since well he is a prisoner and lost his name, rank, and really anything that would be considered a title. Taking away all his 'Light' and leaving him with just darkness, AKA the name/title Skotino (Yes its a Translation meaning when all Light has gone, only Darkness remains).
I intended for that to be a bomb. Eh, it's a little too early for hostilities anyways, but at least talk to me over on what you want your character to do before it becomes fact xD
@Feline: A bomb?! Good god man. But sorry about that. I though Lengsk would want to gather a bit on his enemies before killing them. I'll talk with you on what to do next time.
Hmm, I believe we should get this party moving.
On a side note, My team got crushed in a scrim match .-.
Topo:
I hate to say it but give more thought in your posts. When I was reading you last post I felt like I was reading soming that a person who felt like they where forced to type, or rather some one who wasn't interested in the thread.
You a captain, or rather a high ranking officer, use that as insperatin and give me some meat with your posts.
@Darkwatck: That's kinda what I told him myself over Skyle before he wrote anything. He's under a good bit of pressure right now.
@Topo: Don't feel like you have to post ASAP. It's better to put it off and write something with meat on it than hastily write something shallow. I know you can write well; let's see some Topoyozada magic! ;)
I started my new job today. I was going to write something this morning, but I got busy getting ready for work.
P.S. The text suggestions are genius sometimes.
Yeah, I'm just gonna sit this one out. Too much bull happening now.
*goes to corner and takes out bag of marshmallows*
So ugh... anyone keen on visiting a swarm powered 'reverse cradle' ? Still me? Come on, why does every SK RP have to happen on cradle or Isora?!!!
I suppose if it's not on one of those plants then it loses the feel of sk. But that's just me.
Ugh, I'm itching to write something, but I started my new job the other day and was way too drained to write anything of quality. I'm determined not to let this game die; too many good people are invested in it. Give me a few hours.
Thin. I won't lie, I don't want to see this one die either :L Could you imagine the epic MASSIVE SIZED battles that could take place here. Also the subterfuge and cross play. To be honest this strikes me as the kinda Thread that needs a level head and not trying to kill one another right off the bat. I mean in all honesty they would start small allicenes to get short term gain aiming at the long term goal*.
On a side note, I am not goin to far am I? I just have to ask since well I feel like I am posting allot more then I should so early.
When Tobias says to "partake of the cup of truth," he's using an idiom that people of the era would understand. It's a partial reference to Christ's idiom of the cup, which represents his painful and bloody task. It's used as a symbol of pain, and the "cup of truth," then, is just another way of referring to "painful truth," or "truth that hurts." To "partake of the cup of truth" is to accept the righteous task of delivering the truth, no matter how much it hurts.
You're not going to far. I appreciate that you post so often, and your posts are often of high quality. I don't know how you manage that, but I'm quite impressed.
After three years of working for a living, you learn. added to it I am a Captain of a UGC team so my time is sparse :L
That's badass. Working for a living, being captain of UGC, writing high-quality stories...just baws.
You know it accrued to me, I never accounted where the prioson was :L
What is going on :L Thin did a post, sure it's me just talking here but where is the commitment.
Well, I admit that it's hard to stay committed when the RP's opening isn't exactly explosive or gripping. I promise it gets better, guys.
Also I know you read it, but was it okay. My post that was, I didn't go to far that time? I feel like I am pushing it rather hard.
Well, while extreme racism could be a cause for mass genocides and killings, the rabble won't have the patriotism to do anythig unless there's incentive. I can't tell my army to move unless their families were starving or something, sho...
...should I clarify on additional faults that come with our Captain's main faults? Like dropping population with racism (due to artificial "selection"), famine with debt, etc.?
Well wars are normally started over 4 basic consepts.
Power. Land. Religion. Resources.
Those are the main reasons for war. Despite 2 being under the same type of thing, yet they are treated as different reasons. Mah just a throw out there.
What about Ideals or worldviews? Does that goes in the same category as religion?
No those go under Power. Religion is just that, your believes conflict with mine because of this my god sees you as not worthy and thus you must show the right way of god. That sort of thing.
World views and ideals normally come from people in power looking to increase their power via those means.
Not to sound hoplessly romantic, but wars have also started over love. *cough* Troy *cough* Anyway, doubt that's a factor here, but, if someone is a hopless romantic, well, there's that.
Technically, religion stems from worldview. As Christ pointed out, people will act how they truly believe, not how they say they believe. Your internal "religion," what you truly believe, is your worldview.
Land is a type of resource, which narrows our selection to three causus belli: power, worldview, and resources. Thsee are the three basic components I know of. They can overlap; those desiring power may use worldview (Roman Catholic Church), those wishing to spread worldview may first fight over resources (Islam), and those desiring power may use land/resources (early America). Corporations are notorious for using power to obtain resources.
Additional disadvantages...yes, we could use some. Food shortage, inclement weather, high crime, overstepping government, any of the above...
Now I have something to stew on at work. :-P
Should I hold off on posting while we wait for others responses? I don't want to push to far, other wise people might get the feeling they are going to be left out. At the same time if I do post things they will end up being big unless Thin or some one responds to them/forward posts them.
Been a little wrapped up, I'll try and get a fleshed out post done.
Well, Thin.
I have to ask am I being a little too agressive with my posting :L I am trying to wait for people, but making long posts so that way I don't have to make those shorty posts that don't give to little detail but I don't want to go overboard :L
I'm not coming back to this.
Apologies for the late notification.
Okay guys, I need some ideas on what disadvantages to give each faction, in addition to each of their flaws. Before we begin, has everyone chosen a flaw?
Flaw: Land-grab. Solomon Trent has moved into neutral territory and seized control over a town or two. Reasoning, low on supplies and equipment.
Disadvantages: In need of Supplies at all times. Supplies include ammunition, foodstuffs, ands building material.
Combat disadvantages: Trent has enough ammo to supply one group of marksmen, the majority of his legion will be melee weaponry. Swords, axes, polearms. He is equipping the majority of his legion with full sets of Ironmight Plate armor and Helms, for extra protection
Pseudo-disadvantage: Trent is hoping to make at least one ally at this meeting, if others catch on they may be able to use this to their advantage.
It really comes down to the Sin/Wrong they made to give the Disadvantage.
So with that in mind, when it comes to landgrabing: Your low on resources and always on the move. Troops tend to be high in stranght but the longer you don't calm land the more likely they are to leave.
Power Hungry: The longer you stay in the game, the more likely your going to turn crazy/make evil choices thus people will seek to cut you down and others may form allies to take you down.
Slavery: Well you have the man/woman power to do anything, but at the cost of escapes and the ever loved hate of those who don't like it. The major down side is your fighters won't like being forced to fight and will in all likeliness to less, be weaker, and those who work will work slower no matter what you do to make them go faster. That or they will just die straight out.
Religion: You have many enemies who don't like your view points and thus will always be like this. Even those whom you once trusted will seek to put you down to make there ideal's king.
Intrigue: Subterfuge has a price. and here its there trust. You will always be watched more carefully and some of your spies might be double agents.
Racism: Do you really need a down side? Your already going to be killed because of your ideals, now everyone wants you dead.
Nationalism: Just because your better then everyone else, doesn't give you the right to parade it all around. This makes you a highly valued target and all that boosting might make the others want to test your metal to prove your not as good as you clam to be.
@Thinslayer
Are you still involved with Outnumbered? Because Gwen will need to move pretty soon.
After the reply is given, I will replace this post with something relevant... Like how I think observing this RP was a much... Er... Time-saving move than being in it myself. That's not to say that it isn't worth the time -- it is, and it's great, but I'm spread thin and this RP deserves complete dedication. Which is why it looks so appealing, currently; because dedication is being seen.
I got a little bit lost again over there. Combat tends to be boring me lately. I can make Gwen kick bee-hind if I put in the effort, but I'm simply not interested in that sort of thing these days. If there's going to be combat, it needs to have meaning behind it.
