Keeping Up w/Forum Discussions

One thing I love about online communities such as this is the series of discussions that take place. My only gripe is that I have issues trying to keep track of discussions. And as I understand it, such an issue is my responsibility to remedy.

Three laptops ago I use to make frequent use of my bookmarks when it came to web pages that I wanted to revisit. When the first one died, I found myself getting more acquainted with methods to saving pages through a few forums I was once apart of. Upon joining SK, I shortly fell into fondness with the forums here. Yet I had not as much time to enjoy these discussions as outside matters took precedence. That remains very true to this day. However, I did not want to be left out on what this community was engaged in.

So somewhere along the line of this being my fourth laptop (#1 and #2 were subject to a burglary and theft, #3 is under repairs), I thought that I should make another effort at using bookmarks to keep track of what discussions I am interested in following. Searching through "Forum Preferences" has not awarded me with what topics I hope to preserve and my memory does not hold too well to know what parameters I ought to use to return to certain discussions, which even includes my own topic. So why not get use to using bookmarks again?

I have seen how some of you are able to reference prior threads for present discussions consistently while others provide actual links to related topics. With that regard, how do you all keep up with the discussions yourselves? Also, should this be in the Gremlin Chatter or is it alright here?

not Gremlin Chatter

It's not Gremlin Chatter. General Discussion seems reasonable.

One idea is to use some cloud service to synchronize bookmarks across devices. Another idea is to make a Spiral Knights personal wiki page for yourself, listing some of your most important links to forums and wiki.

Personally, I bookmark only a few threads and wiki pages that I use frequently (three examples here). I rely on Google searching for everything else.

For example, let's say that I want to know more about how shields work. I remember that Glacies posted a highly detailed study on the forums. So I search for glacies shield site:forums.spiralknights.com. One of the first two threads is what I wanted.

I just use google to find past forum threads and know what to search for because I've been here and things will ring a bell if I've seen them. I occasionally do bookmark things but then I become distraught randomly and delete bookmarks for no reason.

And I really don't care if this is 100% the absolute most correct sub forum to post into unless the questionable thread is something blatantly wrong, like a want to buy X in the arsenal forum. People are going to make mistakes but they should at least put some smidgen of effort into it- i.e. read the titles/descriptions of the subforums and apply common sense.

It works here I believe.

We're talking about Spiral Knights, specifically their forums, so it's still technically a general discussion thing.

Personally, I keep up with whatever is on the front page. I have a lot of downtime at work and these forums keep me somewhat sane during the dull hours of the day.
I will save large threads or things that I deem get talked about a lot to bookmarks, but whenever I'm looking for a specific thread I'll typically just google all the info I know from it and eventually find it.

I have some threads bookmarked but 90% of the time I forget about my bookmarks and google the things anyway. Just like Bopp and Fehzor, I largely rely on memory and google searches - it works quite well if you know a few of the words in the title of the topic and who the OP was.

Active memory on all threads I have read and commented on in Suggestions and General Discussion. And some of which I haven't commented on. Which is to say, pretty much all of GD's in the last two years. I don't remember their URLs though, so I use google to track down particular sets of words I remember.
