Dark Harvest 101
-Difficulty doesn't matter. Make it noob friendly.
-Usually, 4 Grim Scarabs will spawn in the Punkin King's Lair during the pristege mission.
-Bomb Gourdlings may spawn. Have fun.
-If you open up your bigger-than-minimap, then you can detect the Punkin King's Lairs by either a rough circle on the top or four indent on the bottom of the hallway.
-The 9-1 Mission, An Occurrence at Owlite Keep has a graveyard if you want to search for brittle candy.
-Use Clockwork tunnels that are close to Subtowns for maximum efficiency. The gates change every 15 minutes.
-Don't bother killing anything in the arcade. Unless it's special.

We've had many threads on this topic. Instead of starting a new one, consider continuing an old one, so that we can keep all of the information in one place. From the white van. Ooohhh... Not that candy? Farm Punkin King.
Clockwork Tunnels - There are grassy optional areas where you find the Punkin King. Press the party button to start.
If he says "Treat", he'll disappear and leave behind a bunch of candy.
If he says "Trick", he'll start bouncing around and respawning gourdlings will appear. Just don't get hit by the Gourdlings and attack the King. He'll drop candy on the first few hits, then you'll need to "kill" him to get the rest. He'll disappear if you can't win fast enough.

To get Brittle Candy, search in graveyards. Giant "Grim Scarabs" have a chance to replace normal zombie spawns. They drop a zombie-like Grim Gourdling when killed, and the Grim Gourdlings drop Brittle Candy when killed.
