And no, Mach, Xtux. Nick avoided the issue of linking Steam to SK accounts. It means you cannot do it at all, nor do they plan to. Otherwise he would have at least had the decency to say 'we're going to look into it' or 'we're working on it.'

As of right now, it doesn't look like it. I really would like this addressed somehow, as I've got Steam and I've got Spiral Knights and I want to put them together.

That's simple. Certain achievements (not all of them, of course) began recording their data a few patches before the Achievement patch. As Ethyl did all that ragecrafting a mere a week or two prior to the achievement patch, the crafting was counted towards the achievement. Similarly, I was credited the achievement for depositing 100 minerals upon login.
Oh, also just confirmed. Even if you're playing on Steam, you need to be using your Steam Account to unlock achievements.
Unlocking achievements while playing just a regular SK account while on Steam will not unlock Steam achievements.
Add: Alright. How does that help people who did it long before the patch was about to be implemented?

OOO releases content as a sort of "beta" update, while it's still being worked on as opposed to waiting until it is 100% completed. In this way you get access to the content once it's playable, but still in development. This is likely in part due to people like you who complain about every little thing, never happy about anything. I get it, dude, your life sucks. You have to blow off steam somehow, and are unlikely to ever notice the egocentrism of your verbiage. But seriously, give it a break.
An influx of new players is a good thing. OOO's and their affiliates making money is a good thing. If you don't like new players, or OOO making money, why not play Solitaire? It's single player, and 100% F2P for life.
You must be pretty new, Oed. They don't release things as beta. They release things, and normally release an emergency patch an hour later because it doesn't work.

This was the big announcement? Why would we even care, I mean we'd have to start over and there's no way that's happening at least for me. I mean hell I'm a long time user of Steam over 200 games however if I can't use my existing SK account through Steam FORGET IT.

I'm an avid user of Steam too, and to have to start all over again is a really big letdown. I thought this was going to finally link the two things I love most, but I guess that's always asking too much. Yeah, it's a hat, but there are those who were Steam users before SK came around and love the two equally. It's the same people who want to show their pride for both, but can't. Honestly, I feel like this is more like a shameless way to recruit as many people as they can in hopes of a quicker moneygrab. They did if after they released the crafting changes when they started to bump up their advertising on Facebook, and it looks like they're doing it again.
Well, I guess this was expected. Spiral Knights has proven time and time again that they're like that little twisted leprechaun whom knows EXACTLY what you want, and will give it to you, but when it's within your grasp, they throw in this amazing catch which completely kills the deal and you never get what you wanted in the first place.
You know what's even sadder? That this thread is going to explode to 5+ pages, but nothing will EVER be done.
I love how everyone just assumes that anyone complaining is a mindless whiner that never had any argument to begin with, completely ignoring their name, reputation, and even their join date.
@Oedipus - New players aren't going to be fixing the balance issues and ignorance of the staff. Them making more money is more likely to make the situation worse, to be honest.
On-topic: Agree with kbe2k11 here. What's the point if you don't let us link our original Steam and SK accounts? Why do you keep dodging those questions, yet you answer to Magnus' ranting, (only about the "first games" part, since that's the only part you can actually argue against apparently!) and those simple questions? Why do you fear actually telling us the "truth" for once so much? (hell, why do you fear answering us at all? we don't even get any "we are working on it" messages or anything.)

It was hidden barely a day after I posted it. This was a few months back.
So I wonder, is it irony that Three Rings now actually has a Steam version of Spiral Knights? I find this a bit ironic..
I guess they hid the topic BECAUSE of the suggestion, or maybe because of my launcher, haha..
Anyway, if SK accounts and the new Steam account dont integrate with each other, guess which launcher I'll continue to use. ;)

Watch OOO discontinue service outside Steam and make us all start over, I'm willing to bet that's more likely to happen then getting our current account integrated.
Ehrm... two friends of mine (which have Steam accounts and play SK) swear they even didn't know that, and I've seen them with SK on their Steam accounts. They haven't installed, but it's there. =O

The SK Dev team has wanted Steam integration at least since late 2010. No conspiracies, just the speed of the forum burying posts.

Yeah, that was a launcher that Suppeedi programmed to work with Steam. That is how we, and several others, ran Spiral Knights through Steam.
I just installed the official launcher, but it turns out there is a hitch to it. I'm really hoping that nick&friends get to work and don't leave us in the dust.
Does anyone have the mask yet? If I could just get the steam invite prompt I could see if the mask is able to be traded then its just a matter of blowing through mist tanks and sending a mask and a pack of crowns back to my main account but im sitting here in the arcade and I don't see anything. No mail, no new npc, no way to get this thing.
...Hmm. Spiral Knights was announced for Steam ages ago, and only now has been implemented.
Microsoft has outright refused to integrate with Steamworks (according to Valve's developer team).
"Steam for Mac" and "Mac Wednesdays" were supposed to be a big deal with frequent and regular updates, but rapidly ground to a halt very shortly after implementation. (Which makes me sad, since Ethyl is on a Mac and I'm on a PC. We've only got a very limited selection of games we can play together.)
I'm guessing Steam has a lot of complexities with full multiplatform support. It's proven to be doable via Portal, Team Fortress, and Left 4 Dead, but when it takes this long after the initial Steam trailer to finally roll out the actual Steam support, I can't help but wonder if the Native Vs. Steam Non-Integration is due to technical issues they haven't yet managed to resolve.

I'm really, really bummed that I can't log in with my existing account but I'm still downloading the game as we speak.
A dismaying number of /v/-related SK groups have appeared on Steam...still, regardless of what kinds of players the game will now attract, I think if old accounts become viable on Steam this move will ultimately be positive for SK.

There's been no response at all yet about allowing current SK players integrate with Steam... which is troubling and a disturbing, yes, but please don't rage at them over a misunderstanding. That tends to make them speak even less.
Like I said I don't get why OOO would think we'd be happy about this or really even care when we're being left in the dust and kicked aside.

Ahh, Giga. You've only been here for about a month, so I'll break it down for you.
Take the unbinding shop as an example. They didn't get rid of the bad part of the Overpricing Patch when everyone was raging at it, but he did reply to what they intended to do. They wanted to add a new way for you to spend even more energy, more than it costs to craft. But when it came to why the Overpricing Patch had prices jacked up to the extreme? Not a thing was said.
Edit: Yes, they would, Supp. They generally don't appreciate or acknowledge feedback, and even when they do, they disregard it behind closed doors.

Regarding account binding: We can't bind Steam accounts with current SK accounts. We are looking into it, though we have no ETA.

My launcher uses the normal SK to work, it isn't actually integrated with Steam itself. So no on the mask and mist tanks, Aznguy.
