what about those who are running 2 accounts on the same pc?
we cannot make a third on steam?

News of this made it onto Joystiq.

"But when it came to why the Overpricing Patch had prices jacked up to the extreme? Not a thing was said."
(It wouldn't let me put in all three paragraphs as a single link so I had to put it in as three separate links.)
800 CE per 5* item still feels excessive to me, but Nick DID say why they raised prices, and devoted a thread in Announcements to it. I'm not here to say whether I agree or disagree with you or him; I am saying that he did indeed speak up on this issue.
Been with Steam many years, have a full friends list and I'm betting not one of them plays this game and I would of gladly recommended the game to them but not now, in fact I'll purposely go out of my way and ward them away from the game basically let them know of the limitations and how they can expect to be treated down the road.
Let that good ole' word of mouth works it's magic.
If the team can't find a way to bind our SK accounts to our Steam accounts in time for the event item, can the item be made tradeable so we can give our non-Steam characters the mask? I enjoy collecting items in games, and it saddens me to hear that I might not be able to get an in-game item for my character.
That's a little...extreme, kbe2k11. Well more then a little. A lot more. That's WAY TOO EXTREME!
Illiteracy is a real problem even nowadays.
I do hope we will be able to link the accounts soon, good luck!
Why were you guys using a third party launcher to run the game through steam?
I was able to add Spiral Knights to my steam library and launch it through steam with the overlay before this addition.
It wasn't all that difficult, it was like any other non-steam game being added.
[Magnus, this is your last warning about personal attacks. Please obey the forum guidelines. -E]
May I ask how the hell that post qualified as a personal attack? Because he commented peacefully on things he thinks that are and were done wrong, and it could look bad for Three Rings to let a BNP go around saying that stuff?
There wasn't any kind of personal attack in that post. (unless you count the "Oh nick, that's just like you" part... which is just silly. Why delete the whole post when there's only a single small joke that simply relates to this?) It was simply stating his opinion and how he views the way Three Rings is adressing it.
Last warning? But this is his first warning. Are you trying to make it seem he has a history on "rule-breaking", when he does not?
And it wasn't even a warning. You did actually revoke his posting rights already.
Are you actually willing to go that far?
@Gigafreak - I think he was commenting mostly on how Three Rings never explains the reason for choosing increasing CE prices, over material/crowns/etc prices.
a new account on steam but I don't get any offer to invite steam friends? Is it because I ain't got enough friends or I have to keep doing more? Currently in Depth 6 of the Snarby Gate, currently solo-ing with all the beginner item, if anyone wants to help, /w Xs-team
Of course, they'll never actually respond why they chose increasing CE 3 fold instead of say 5x the material costs. So instead of killing two birds with one stone, they decided they'd rather run over the endgame crafter player base with their van.
Augh. Add me to the list of people who terribly desperately want to be able to roll our existing stuff into a Steam account.
Having that seamless Steam integration (and a chance for the new mask) would be lovely, but... I can't give up my equipment, my Groundbreaker beta stuff, and my CE like that. This is awfully inconvenient.
I was excited at seeing Spiral Knights show up on Steam, but now I'm just antsy about it since one way or another I'm missing out.
I know it's been said that OOO is looking into it, but... please look more into it! Look at it! Look all up on it.
We can haz migration?
I only do this for mist tanks anyway, mwahaha
Well currently playing on your steam account doesn't seem to do anything anyway.
Will I be able to link my current account to my Steam one later on?
I was excited to see SK on steam, since I use Steam extensively. The perks and seamless integration was just icing on the cake. But then I found out that the accounts aren't linked, so anybody that already plays will need to start over to take advantage of Steam. I'm sorry, but this just isn't going to work for me. I'd love to use the Steam version, but my character is too far along to even think about restarting now.
So yes, add me to the list of people who would like to link their SK account and Steam accounts together. For all I care, you could migrate the character data from my SK account to my Steam account and then delete my SK account, so long as I can use Steam from now on.
Edit: Sorry, what I'm using is a normal SK account, not a sega pass. Corrected.
Yes, people on the Steam Forums have noted that the Achievement system doesn't appear to be working along with hours played in the Community Profile. The achievement page on Steam isn't working at all, The link just goes to your community timeline page. It appears that the game is not fully deployed yet over Steam, I'm not sure this is a OOO problem as I doubt they have total content distribution control over Steam.
The Steam Knight Mask is not available for a limited time. There are currently no plans to remove this particular offer.
Invite your friends now or later!
HOW YOU MONSTER?!?!
Log on the steam account, get to haven and then... what? the 'invite' tab on the news/mail/invite window is still there, but its the same email adress invite it's always been. How do you invite through steam specifically and get these mist tanks and the mask?
You are prompted in the Tier 1 lobby of any Arcade gate.
Quick question--what support options should Steam users turn to if they need help?
I need some assistance, but it's not something that merits an F2 bug report or a GM's attention...
Yeah, this is basically how I'm feeling inside. Give it all the looks, over nine thousand looks, a lookshelf, a lookworm, a looky charm, and I-don't-give-a-flying-look how many more memes' or puns' worth of looks.
Please get this working!
Uh, i don't appear to be able to scroll through this friends list in the invite prompt window, I can only see the top 4 or 5 guys and of my dozens of friends they are probably not the ones I can get to play spiral knights.
EDIT: also it seems the mist tanks are mini 15 energy tanks not full 100 ones.
So, the mist tanks are actually "mini mist tanks" worth 15 energy each.
But yeah. Is the Steam mask auto-bound or can you trade it?

I need some assistance, but it's not something that merits an F2 bug report or a GM's attention...
Should the Support Portal still be a valid option?
Ah I forgot, yes the mist tanks are 'mini mist tanks' worth 15 mist. I'll edit my previous post.
@Dogrock: I clicked the support options in-game but was taken to the support login page that didn't accept my Steam credentials. I'm trying the regular email support portal now. (Totally forgot that was an option---thanks for saving me from my derp!)
Make account transfer happen. I want to play this game with my steam friends but I REALLY, REALLY do not want to start from scratch. Especially after travesties you guys called "Balancing".
Theme-wise, Steam was destined to become part of the Steam Punk decor of OOO as well as the mission to make OOO products more viral.
Take a tour of the Steam Punk geekiness that is OOO and Spiral Knights:

Anyways...
Considering that I am frequently building new UVs and trying new recipes, I don't see a problem with making a Steamy character to play with the new UVs I just created on Raspberry, my old character. I'll just have Raspberry subsidize the adventures of my steamy when I get around to making a steam account.
For MMOs that I truly enjoy, I have a tendency create an additional account anyway so I can dual box content that cannot be solo'd with one specialty class or crafting class alone. I enjoy partaking of my free time at my own pace when I am not playing with my immediate friends and family at our game room. Spiral Knights has been vying for more of my free time from my other favorite MMO lately.
I know it's exciting for the dev team, but this was a pretty underwhelming announcement for existing players. At least players who don't want to wipe their CE stores, crowns, beta equipment and achievements. :P
@machallboyd Exactly, I was all pumped for the big announcement hoping for some great new content or some major change but then we get this. Obviously great news for Three Rings but honestly don't get our hopes up.
I think you guys hyped yourself up over some other guy who reposted Nick's Twitter post. Nick was just hyped that this was going to happen and thought he shared it on his twitter.
And I quote. "Look out for a big Spiral Knights announcement tomorrow. Exciting stuff!"
Not very exciting.......... for us. For them I'm sure it is.
I don't understand why you guys are all flipping out over the connectivity between the two as if OOO is doing it on purpose just to spite you guys. They already said that it's basically a technical issue that they are going to work on.
There really isn't anything to gain from attributing malice to them with every little thing they do that is wrong, the easiest way to get a response from them, by observation any, is to address them with civility, not venom.
Either way, this update isn't really of interest to me, I don't use steam, and don't really plan on it. (Although I might, if they do resolve the issues of merging the two). I'm not going to hold it against them that they released something that doesn't really hold any interest to me, because it'd be ridiculous of me to expect them to make every little news release and update 100% interesting to 100% of the playerbase.
I think most people were flipping out prior to FINALLY getting a response to their questions. I'm not even upset anymore just wondering how this was suppose to be big news for us when technically were not even included.... yet.
Is there a problem with integration? I'm using the same login email for my character and for my steam account, and when I try to do anything on my Steam account, it says that there have been too many free characters made on this computer.
So, how would I go around putting my old character on my steam account? Or would I have to restart fresh? (which I won't do, obviously)
A huge influx of new players is always good, especially if they buy some energy and drive the price down a bit. We don't even know if the mask is tradeable or not yet which would render this argument down to steam tracked achievements, and we didn't even have sk specific achievements until a matter of weeks ago. Let it go.
I've tried relogging a few times in the past couple hours and retrying, there's definitely no way for me to scroll through my whole friends list in the prompt window. Is this only me?
Can we get an ignore function on forums pretty please? Its really tiring to hear all the whining in every thread and its impossible to ignore it (mentally). Would provide us a better forum experience.
@actinium
Influx in new players will drive the price up won't it? Unless like you say they're buying energy but that's doubtful for people expecting a free to play experience.
More demand for energy = higher prices or someone want to correct me on this?
So for linux users it all remains the same?
For the time being I will at least use Steam as a platform to run SK off of. Thankfully I can use my usual login from the steam version.
I look forward to being able to integrate, though.
So for linux users it all remains the same?
Pretty much. There's no official Steam Support/Distribution for Linux platforms.
It's the mid to high tier players that drive energy prices up generally, they can afford the 7k+ prices. New players either buy energy with cash and increase the overall supply which can reduce prices or they don't make enough crowns / blatantly waste crowns and so can't or won't encourage the high prices by facilitating the 7k trade value. After a couple weeks, maybe prices will start climbing again from the increased population as the new players become mid to high teir players themselves but for now we should see the price drop or stay stable at 7k for a much longer stretch of time then it did 6k.
"New players either buy energy with cash and increase the overall supply which can reduce prices or they don't make enough crowns / blatantly waste crowns "
Last time I went into T1, I started making 1000+ crowns per floor, as early as floor 3, having 100 mist energy allows you to run T1 almost 2 times through minus the last two floors. We really haven't quite reached a point where a new player can't afford to buy 100 CE a day on crowns alone and still have some left over. (I mean maybe I was just uncannily good as a newbie, I don't recall really ever dying in T1, so I am probably wrongfully assuming the average new player shouldn't either. But from my perspective it doesn't seem like there's reason for new players to worry yet).
I don't have steam yet. My cohort, Thebadger, has been using Steam for a few years on his P2P games starting with HalfLife.
The thing about Steam is it has has been catering exclusively to P2Ps with over 30 million active user accounts. OOO:SK is coming in as one of the first F2Ps to be added to Steams large catalog of existing games and publishers. Thus, with the viral exposure to Steam's already 30 mil+ active P2P accounts, perhaps SK will be able to hook in more P2P players to help subsidize SK and other OOO products like the upcoming Dr. Who title.
With exposure to more new players who have connected CC access, the demand for crowns increases as new players who can readily purchase CE will be needing crowns to pay for recipes and low-level gear. In theory, the "Robber Barons" of the current CE market who don't really need crowns will have more competition from new paying players who need crowns. Thus, playing "Robber Baron" with so much more competition becomes more difficult unless the old and new barons form cartels or happen to be a wealthy prince IRL.
How do we invite steam friends to get tanks and mask?
