A few quick things to note:
- Alchemy costs have been lowered from their original values once already.
- You can start at a mid-town in any gate after you have gotten the appropriate Clockworks Tier Clearance
- The revive system heavily favors parties. You have the incentive that when you revive someone with health you revive 30% of their current Heat. Reviving with Energy means that 30% is lost.
- It is recommended that you plan to craft during your off days. Mist Energy is capped at 100, so you might as well use it for a quick craft if you don't have time for a full run.
- It is still possible that the energy system will get one last examination before launch. The Dev team is still working to crank out the last of the content, they're a busy bunch.
- Take the time to learn how the Energy Exchange works, you can make a nice bundle on Energy and Crowns if you make the right offers.

To piggy back on this it became very apparent to me last night when the Power Surge ended, just how little actual playing you can do with straight Mist Energy. That being said, taking advantage of Power Surge weekends is a must.
Anyways, you can pay what 5000 Crowns or so for 100 Crystal Energy correct? Thats what I saw with a quick glance early on (I am still new here). You make a few thousand crows a full run, probably more in 2nd and 3rd teir, runs basically pay for themselves then.
I see no real issue here, although I do admit yesterday I was a little upset when mid run through teir 1 the lifts changed prices and I was unable to complete it, 1 floor away from the end.
All I wish is that they would give us back more then 1 mist energy a hour because it slows the game down, I can deal with spending 5000-1000 crowns for 100 ce.
They could just expand the the 100 mist to 150-200 mist.
Also faster mist for only player who pay is a little unfair if you think about it because 100 ce cost under $1 and that is cheaper then most online game pay bonuses.
Here's a thought: what if players could trigger a power surge weekend after a colossal amount of work? Let's say, if players get down to the Core, there's a 2% chance of a button spawning that triggers a power surge up through the Clockworks...
For you newer players: not too long ago, the Crowns to CE trade was about 10500 Crowns for 100 CE. You've got it easy right now.
After the public release, a lot of players (like me) will have a LOT of CE to put on the market, but there's no guarantee that CE prices will stay this low.
With 100 ME you can:
Play 10 floors
OR
Alchemize two 50 energy pieces of equipment (2*)
OR
Alchemize one 100 energy piece of equipment (3*)
You have to balance your ME use between alchemy and crown farming, that's just part of the game mechanics.
I don't think I can play this game [without spending real money], some days I have more time to play videogames than other days. For example: on Fridays I'm usually busy with other stuff, while on Saturday I'd like to spend 2-4 hours on a good videogame. With the 100 mist limit and the huge recharge time I will never be able to plan my time like this. I don't feel any motivation to invest time in this game in its current form. I think it's obvious that having to grind Crowns to buy energy just so I can play an hour longer is not appealing at all.
One solution would be to allow more mist energy to be charged to your account when you're not playing, so I can save up energy on the days I wouldn't be playing and have more energy at my disposal. Of course, *the* solution would be to do away with energy all together and just let everyone enjoy the game at their own pace. Go find a nicer way to make money. If it wasn't so obvious you're just using the F2P bit as a demo you might create more goodwill with me than you're doing now.
I have an idea, let players pay 500 Crowns as a alternative option to 10 energy on elevators.
It'd have to be a lot more than 500 crowns, more like 2000 or more. If you think about it, you can make close to that per level, and the point is to use some sort of currency and be in the negative to go down.
edit: Another problem with crowns is it more or less sets the trade rate, which OOO doesn't want to do.
I just started playing at the beginning of this reduced energy cost weekend, and it was a blast. As of midnight tonight, however, watching the elevators change from 2 energy a pop to 10 was jaw-dropping. How will I ever be able to afford going deeper than 10 levels at a time? What about all the times I'll die as I get used to the tougher enemies as I go deeper and deeper? Isn't the cost of alchemy bad enough?
I just want to know the logic behind the high cost of the elevator rides. If it's to keep people from playing too long all at once, cool. Can we then lower the cost of alchemy? If it's purely a business decision so that Three Rings can acquire the funds it needs to keep running while still in Preview, that's reasonable too. I just wish the costs of playing the game weren't so prohibitive. I like to play experimentally, trying out new styles of combat and figuring out which weapons I like the best. If the game is going to limit my ability to try things out, how am I supposed to fall in love with it and become a long-term player?
This game has grown on me, I'll admit. I just wish I could play more for the sake of playing and less for the demand to make enough crowns to keep on playing.
