I'm not sure if I'm missing something or not but I can't seem to access this part of the Jelly Farm (1?) level for whatever reason. I can distinctively remember being able to access this part of the level in the preview, but can't seem to access it now.
More specifically this area.

You're not missing anything. That is an inaccessible area. I think they put that there to tease us. d=
That seems to be one of the Jelly Farms that doesn't have access to it yet, but will have access later. I do believe in beta they used to have some big green jelly thing or something that spawned in that room and they are re-doing that area so there is no access to it at this current point in time(assuming this is the area I'm thinking of).

If I remember it correctly, in one of the Jelly Farm levels, there are two ways - the ordinary path and another path behind energy-locked gates.
Tried that energy-path once and didn't notice anything special about it, just an alternative way through that level.
So, it may be part of that "second path through level"?
The farm you're talking about, Noctuelle, is not the same as the one they have pictured up there.
The one you're talking about you can still go back and access the other after you do the energy room/s.

Agreed. I also like the alternate path though the jelly farm. I think the sky islands has some of the best level designs. (=
It's exactly what Jenny (who is lush) said; they had green jellies (like the ones in Jelly Palace, but bigger) in there but they decided it was too overpowered so they closed it off to change it. Now it's just there to tease us.

It was never accessible. ever. however it suggests it'll be open in the future. There were no green jelly, it was just a rumor started through me i think xD. I blame boswick for the rumor.
My friend Iaena and myself have made a couple of attempts to figure it out;
Last time we tried getting every lichen in the level to merge into one bigass lichen and kill it by the gate... that didn't work.
Next time, the thought is, perhaps let NONE of the lichens merge (that'd be a trick and a half)...
Short of that, I'm totally stumped.
Finally; opening the energy gate is pretty much totally worthwhile - you can backtrack and do the other (free) jelly "arena" as well, and you typically (especially if the JF is in the latter half of a gate) earn crowns well worth the 3 ME/CE you spend to open it.
It's a mystery.
I seriously hope there is a trick to opening it, and not just a teaser.

There is a hidden key in the level used for unlocking the door, on the other side.
