According to the wiki, they have the same stats. Except that the Cold Iron Vanquisher has the extra bonus damage against undead.
So wouldn't you always want the Vanquisher?

Another one??

The bars lie. CIV does about 10 damage less to EVERYTHING, except undead while level does 10 damage MORE to everything, except undead. This has come up sooo many times. Here are a FEW of them. Levi is much better.

EDIT: Of course, the CIV does look cooler. But that is the worst reason to get one.

The lesser knockback can be good if playing with other people. Most of us know the pain of having someone with a Levi send a Lumber flying into our face.

No vanquisher is better 100%

Man dont listen to this crap it might have 10 lower but if u are going for vanduke (all monsters there are fire slimes and zombies) O.O more than 50 plus or even more in every hit u do and it hits awesome, and just want remark who wants his monster flying around, they might hit one of ur team mates by mistake. compare the damage vs undead with the ones on levi, then see who is better.

Leviathan is better but

Leviathan is better but personally, I prefer the CIV only because I hate knockbacks
and CIV looks a lot cooler. And everybody knows looks is all that matters :)
But for a less experianced player, the Leviathans knockback will be useful.

The one and only, Guardianknight.

The real question is, does

The real question is, does the reduced damage result in needing an extra swing to kill something? If it's only 10 less I think both weapons probably kill just as fast which would make CIV the better weapon.

I would not say so..

There is always the lumber trick. Levi, it takes 1 less strike then CIV, which could result in you being pounded into the earth. Against quite a few monsters it is the same. Levi all the way!

When you are playing with one bar of latency, the Leviathans knockback will save your life.

+1 Levi

I do not find the Levi's knockback to be problematic. The only reason someone would throw an attacking creature into a teammate is if: they are doing it on purpose, they did it on accident, or they have no awareness of their teammates and the field. Granted, accidents do happen on occasion. But if it is one of the other two reasons, this is not someone you would want to party with.

Instead the Levi's knockback should be used for good - saving your life, saving someone else's life, pushing enemies into corners, separating healers from the pack, etc. Anyone without malicious intent that possesses an ounce of skill would do so, which is why I almost always use a Levi and greatly value its power :)

That's my opinion.

@Ryoga124

I guess it really comes down to situational awareness right? I tend to play solo a lot but when playing in a group I have never had anyone die as a result of a levi charge. I usually try and get between the team mates and the mob before unleashing so they get knocked away from us.

Or simply Shivermist them first ...

Uh...

When CIV users bring up, oh its good in FSC, think bout it this way...

Levi : Jack of all trades master of none
CIV: Master of 1 trade, worse at rest :P

and then, WHY WOULD U RUN A CIV IN FSC? I can understand the 3 reasons of: lack of energy/crs (to own both the levi and DA/ lack of ce for a weapon slot for the AP), lack of skill to get a sealed sword, and lack of skill to use a 2-swing weapon correctly... But assuming 90% ur not any of these, DA > CIV because...
#1 wide spread for FSC (4-5 slag walkers in one swing, great for crowd control)
#2 charge crowd controls and pushes back
#3 Elemental attribute dmg bonus > UV (and the fact that DA can have undead uvs)
#4 DA is capable of sidestep/direction change by 2nd swing exploit/delay
#5 CIV charge's lack of knockback = bad crowd control for FSC
#6 Levi's ability of large knockback

The above comparsion is Levi + DA combo vs CIV

Really, the CIV is a merge of the Levi and the DA but lacking in both fields of specialty. The only reason to run the CIV is due to lack of weapon slots or lack of money.

The CIV is overall a mediocre weapon, its not bad though since it is technically 2 weps in one but with nerfed abilities from both weapons.

I run Levi + DA + AP + (soon Shiver) in FSC

CIV is one of the best.

1. too much knock back is dangerous for team mates just like bombs.

2.most levels have zombies or fiends no matter what type they are.

3.Its looks very cool.

4.U might just get an armor to add more power like skolver of any other shield.

5. If u are going to vanduke, i recommend CIV cause all zombies and fiends and jellies.

If u get any UV too CIV is the best, guys just admit it CIV owns levi. Just because many people have levi doesnt mean its the best CIV rocks for life!

CIV and Levi

ugh really o.e
I'm pretty sure most of you with your Levi attitudes have probably never ever used a CIV =.=
I have not used a Levi before but w/e.
I've seen it in combat sure it looks great does slightly more damage but well... the knockback in my opinion is horrid.
with Levi your spin attack is hit run towards the enemy actually having to chase it and hit again.
CIV less chasing more DPS.
For me I can easily kill a lumber with practically no effort that includes 3-4 at a TIME.
Though it is true CIV DOES require more skill mostly in dodging and shield bumping.

EDIT: PS: CIV does have enough pushback as long as you run away from the lumber after you charge hit. Also if you hold shield button you can pretty much block instantly after using charge attack.

Like what YOU like

What everyone should really be saying is, I like ______ because it works for me. Ex: I like the CIV, because it looks cool, and I can deal with the less damage. I also am not very fond of HUGE knockback, because I like playing with other people, and my luck loves to throw Lumbers in the way of others.

Preference.

Its about personal preference, I personally prefer the CiV because while it does a miniscule of damage less than the Levi, it means you can curbstomp all undead creatures and breeze through graveyards, which is extreamly useful if you dont have shadow resistence to counter them otherwise. (Just take them out before they take you out, the 360 spin is by far my favourite charge attack)

1 hit

For me, the only reason to get a CIV would be if it landed all three charge strikes. The only way to do this with either sword is if you pin an enemy against a wall. This makes the Leviathan superior to me. The Cold Iron's initial hit only knocks an enemy far enough away that the second and third strikes don't connect. This does not however, put the enemy so far away that they can't strike back and that is a problem for me.

In my opinion, the Cold Iron should be given either a little more knock-back or no knock-back before the third hit. This would indeed make it a viable option to the Levi, but until that happens the Vanquisher is little more than a collector's item to me - usable, but not necessary. =/

What say you-all?
