That being said, I think it's safe to say that it does raise the CE price foofums. They could to beef up those CE lotteries to balance it out or something.
CE at 5.8 makes me nervous O_O

I doubt they will actually stop the surge weekends. Leaving aside the casual players (the bulk of the community) loves them, it also pushes the CE prices up, discouraging the market buy and making the actual Dollar > CE transaction more alluring.

shhhh, i like my powersurge weekends :) Inflation be damned, i get to try for dauntless delver and put in ridiculous amounts of hours. Since i enjoy doing runs, I saw bring them on.

If you make enough durring the surge, then the higher prices are fine. But the surge last's two days, the inflation lasts longer.

Completely disagree! I like all kinds of events in MMO's, especially ones that give you benefits.

The CE market is player-driven, and while PSW influences it, it's the players who are responsible for it not the OOO. On the one hand it increases the prices of CE, but on the other, it brings back many less-active players and is a great opportunity to earn some crowns. It's basically a message from OOO to stop merchanting for a weekend and go delve into Clockworks with friends.

It is probably also a way of increasing CE costs by OOO, but it is one of the best ways of doing it (contrary to increasing crafting costs). I agree that it may disrupt the market, but it's barely noticeable to average players, while halved elevator costs give them way to explore/gain crowns.

To sum up - Thank you OOO, my vote for PSW every month

jeburk, do you honestly not remember what happened the week after the first recent power surge? A jump of a few hundred CR, which then went back down?

I say let people with huge amount of ce to speculate, a mist tank is enough to go for 1-2 fsc/T3 runs per day. If you need u.v., you can always punch then, the higher the ce price, the more profitable it is to punch, relatively.

As much as I loved both PSWs, I hate dealing with energy being so high. It ruins every other aspect of the game.

A small increase in energy price makes Clockwork runs significantly less profitable. For example, say 10 floors of grinding brings in 7k. Normally, that means 5k to pay for the CE costs and 2k profit. A 10% increase in the price of CE (to 5500) reduces profits by 25% (2k profits reduced to 1.5k).

Further, people tend to lay off crafting 3* and higher items until the CE prices are down. As such, reselling recipes on the AH becomes that much harder and less profitable.

The only people who benefit are OOO themselves, the very richest players, and the people who only use mist energy. And this third group is mainly new and very casual players.

The PSWs are really fun, but I doubt the profits garnered that weekend makes up for the inflation later on for most players. In the end, the game would be better off for the majority of players without the PSWs. Of course, OOO looks out for OOO and I can't blame them for that.

And don't even bother stating the 7k high, that was as best a fluctuation made obvious by the fact that most players never saw it go that high during the event. It stabilized at 6500cr midway and went to 6400cr after the event. Earlier than that it was around a little over 6k. So yes, it was just a jump of a few hundred crowns.

And crediting Punch with the cost not going higher? Really? We didn't even know how much they were gonna cost at that time, along with the fact that Vise was tagging along, which costed CE.

Yes, the person making those updates promised to keep updating, but they stopped once the price started to go up. It hit 7k on saturday morning. Look on the next page of that thread.

Monday was after the power surge was over. Also, the price of CE was, IIRC, down around 6.2-6.3k before the power surge was announced, and then went up. I remember thinking that I thought that starting the price tracking right before the start was a little deceptive, but I didn't think it was worth a post. The price was near 7k for a fair while on saturday, it wasn't just a fluctuation.

Rummaging through posts, if actually requested I could post the link to where someone mentions the price of CE being around 6k before the event was announced, and if I recall correctly, it went to 6.2-6.3k the Thursday before the even actually occurred. Also, if the price was 7k for a good amount of time, there would've been more doomsayers who mentioned that, and I certainly would've noticed it as I was participating too, but not the entire day on Saturday.

As far as I searched, I only saw that topic to have posts that cite the 7k peak. And even then, 2 posts only after the fact at the weekdays following.

Aside from the topic that was referenced several times already, there was another that had a Facebook page about how energy was at a price of 6700. That was at 4am Saturday morning EST, and no other references I've seen cite energy being so high during Saturday, especially not the 7kce claimed after the fact.

Who cares, at least its not at 6k and it'll go down eventually, enough people start to demand more CE per CR the more the prices will drop. If it bothers you so much stop buying CE and play on your ME until it goes down so you can hog it all up once it drops again.
