I just came up with an idea. Since spiral knights is published by SEGA, why don't they add some SEGA referenced accesories? Would be really awesome!!

i agree boycott accessories!!! i cant believe how much a stupid silver key is. its not like i can just buy energy all the time it takes forever to get to 750. maybe about 250 or w/e. and what makes it worse is that the boxes have random stuff so you might have just wasted energy. >.<

Boycotting accessories will only make them more unique for players that use them. This is likely not an issue for accessory users.

this is my first post, ive been reading the forums since i started playing SK and ive allready got fed up by the countless CE = overpriced BS topics
now when this update came out my worse fear came treu! the same lame "i want free stuff NOW" idiots are going to hate... how many times do we have to tell you people, do you think SK is funded by a donkey who can poop out money? NO!
if OOO wants to follow valve let them i can only encourage this. why? more money in the bank means more money for development AND FREE CONTENT you lot expect from them. who in heavens name forces you to buy the key huh? nobody! do i think the 7500CE price is to high? oh hell no... unlike TF2 you can earn this FOR FREE!!!! no real money involved WHAT SO EVER!!! and it's COSMETIC it doesn't do jack. god i wish you people would get a life and stop bashing these things that earn the people who made the frickin game in the first place and you play FOR FREE.
again NOBODY'S forcing you to do anything, if you want CE that bad get a damn job! or use your damn free time to actualy PLAY the game and EARN your rewards.

CE isn't free. Until the day comes that 000 lets you buy CE directly from them for crowns, it isn't free. You can do things so that other players pay for you, but that isn't free - you're performing a service for another player, collecting crowns, and then being paid for your service with a currency that is based on real life money. Farming is basically a part time job that you may or may not enjoy.

u do know that in every game, the fashion stuff are for high end people players who doesn't need to worry about their level / gear anymore.
Fashion stuff / just-for-looks are expensive in almost every game...
so i find it reasonable.
However, I would not argue if the price for the keys lowers :3.

Ok my mistake, but the price for the keys in SK is allmost the same as in TF2. and i read here somewhere that came down that nobody buy's keys or stuff in TF2... then i wonder where all the strange weapons are coming from.
if devs got a cent for every QQ topic about such updates they wouldn't even need to update haha. and also should we start boycotting bugfixes to now?

SK Silver Key - 750CE
750CE - $2.49
7500CE - $19.99
ME regen 100/22 hours
Cost if wait for ME: 650CE
If anything they should be made more expensive. You're all stingy leeches. Man up!

Its a ripe tradeoff imo.
The boxes will be easy to farm for people who play F2P in T3 cause leveling F2P develops mad skillz.
Key point here. The arrangement does something for both brands of players (f2p & $'ers) We can produce the boxes which fill the equasion. I really like the arrangement because it has an angle for both sides of the fence unlike alot of shameless cash grabs I have seen in other SUBSCRIPTION mmo's.

Do accessories allow you to beat monsters better? No, they don't stop being butt hurt over something that is just used to show off. If you think its too much then don't pay for it, and sell your boxes you get for profit. Why are we comparing Spiral Knights to TF? Since we are comparing how much stuff costs I guess I might as well give you some examples:
Coach Wallet ---- $160.00
Silver Key -- $2.50
Hugo Boss Jeans --- $150.00 to $250.00
Silver Key --- $2.50
YSL Belt --- $180.00 to $350.00
Silver Key --- $2.50
Dam this silver key is cheaper than all the things I am comparing it too....

Boycotting the items will make them more rare which will make their price go up which will make the demand for silver keys go up which will make more people buy them to sell valuable as hell accessories.

750CE=a useless trinket

800CE=upgrading to an uber weapon or armor for the endgame OR crafting a weapon from scratch from 2* all the way to 4*
I say there's no reason keys should be worth more than 400ce, if that.

Ya know, one of the reasons I have a piece of the chapeu set is that since it goes into production once and then never again, the price increases astronomically. I paid, what, 3.5k CE for it, and it grows into 10k CE for it, aka $31.85, that means that with the new steam trade, I can trade this utterly useless cosmetic piece for a game, or several games for that matter!
So this is in essence the same thing, spend enough in-game time to net enough CE, you can get some costume pieces that you can then trade for something else!
With the whole not paying a cent thing, this can really benefit people that know how to manage things.

and Juances is right, i bought some CE (yes with real money haha) why i think the devs deserve it. but i'm not going to spend my hard earned cash all on the game haha. i bought it to give me a quick boost to build my first set and get into T3 now i allmost have my skolver armor.
just need to upgrade my ashtail cap when my coat, Barbarous Thorn Shield and faust are at lvl 10 then i'm going to make my cap, gran faust and i think my Leviathan Blade blade to finish my kinda standard allround set :D (then i'm going to take it easy and craft my vog cub armor and brandishes)
and i haven't seen anything i want to put on my armor (i want angel wings for my skolver and black wings for my vog cub on the back that would look so damn awsome) maybe an idea for the devs haha make it happen OOO haha keep up the good work i'd say

Why is this compared to TF2
when TF2 has none of the same gameplay that Spiral Knights has? That game is is a first-person shooter that does not require any item upgrades to play, and this is a RPG that is based completely on item upgrades to play. So again, why are people comparing when TF2's income is based solely on cosmetic effects?

You shouldn't worry about boycotting, the constant increase in the number of accessories pages at the auction house points out the lack of interest of the majority of players for them.
You can even now buy out some accessories cheaper than a key is and this only 2 days after their introduction.

I'm not gonna be touching accessories any time soon, not just because they're 750ce. I build a whole 5* set just to use as a costume for Effs sake. The problem is that 750 will get you: 1) a random accessory for a giant list of many ugly pieces and few good ones, 2) A piece that can only be used once and then costs ce once again to get id of, and 3) a piece that you can't be sure will work with your gear or be the right colour at all, cause no one wants to experiment with 750+ ce and noone know what most of them look like.

People are seriously complaining about the cost of cosmetic items?
Keys could cost 20k CE for all I care. Accessories are purely a luxury item for those who have extra money to burn. Don't have the cash? Spend it on better equipment (aka: the stuff you actually NEED in the game) so you can make money more efficiently and save up for said accessories.
Accesories are more attractive to a large croud then u think.
Here's a secret to the Crystal Energy market... If the price doesn't move down within the first few hours of an update, it is not likely to drop at all. The prices aren't moving because there's no massive demand for Crystal Energy and there's no massive demand for Crowns. So no, no one has looked at it that way because it's not going to happen.
