Well, I can say i know the vast majority of the guilds mentionned, and can confirm that Finesse has some great players, but we all knew that. I've had the pleasure of running with people from most of the guilds, and it's always been a pleasure. I certainly couldn't put together a list like that, so Kudos to those who tried.

I disagree, on two points.

Firstly, I believe that in LD, skill matters more than gear. I've seen quite a few players decked out in snarbolax and skolver with barb thorn blades and gran fausts end up with low damage scores and no captures or defends; conversely, I've seen players in dusker and ash tail play intelligently and work with their team, and are real assets. And to further the point, by "skill" i don't mean how fast you can press the mouse button to hack at someone, but I mean how you choose your engagements to maximize captures, which points you choose to move to next, and so on.

Secondly, I think that is a great way to judge a guild. LD requires a significant amount of teamwork, and a mere collection of loosely-aligned players with great gear will fall swiftly to a guild that knows how to work together. Take Finesse, for example - I've had the privilege to play against them in a few guild vs guild LD matches. I've witnessed their swarm of four strikers working together, moving from point to point and ruthlessly hacking apart one and two-man capture teams while ignoring bigger groups of three guardians. Their strikers resist the temptation to run around solo, slashing at the first enemy they see, and their team as a whole benefits from this team mentality. That's what makes them so good at LD, and I look forward to matching my guild against theirs soon (:

I understand where you're coming from, Ampersand, and I truly agree with what you have to say.

However, would Finesse be so unbeatable if they were wearing Volcanic Plate equipment and Cold Iron Vanquishers, and had two connection bars? Guild and Knightmare are well known as "skill" guilds, but a lot of "non celebrity" players can't stand them, simply because they look down their noses on every other human being, and are typically jerks as well.

Without a doubt Finesse is a fantastic Lockdown guild, but the title of the thread isn't "Top 10 Lockdown Guilds."

For all of the knights who doesnt agree with this list, all I can say is your experience in this game is too low.

Same goes for The Risen, In The Jelly, Revelation, AFK (AFC?), Immortals, Shadow Mercenaries, yes I know they have some good players too like Shisho, Soup-Ninja, Roomble and Rgn-vert Yet that wont be able to carry there guilds status. This is kind of harsh but Im pretty sure 50% of the players from these guilds will gladly accept an invitation from the guilds I listed.

And Try? Tier Zero you say? Huh? Yet again guild full of nooby members, I respect Weedle and Ramenfrog though. Same goes for your guild Tri, only one I respect there is you...

Erridunno, stop your pointless posts at my thread, the same goes for Impervious, not full though they have bad members like you, only dude I respect in your guild is Sciasz and yet again thats not enough.

Kage no senshi and hunter x hunter plus Clockwork Renegades are full of noobies too... definitely not worthy. Dragon Knights is dead, stop saying your guild is full of potential Draco...

And Sativa, not good to say but your an LD guild right? Your not good at LD and worst at the clockworks...

I do agree with Grundel Warriors though, they are good...

I know some will say Im harsh but I have more experience than all of you, I was killing Vana and obtained the FOV while all of you was still trying to kill RJ or lower than that.

Magnus can't even say he killed vanaduke before 90% of the beta players. He started playing in the last 2 months of beta, wasn't known at all by any veteran players (most of whom had already stopped playing beta due to being bored). Magnus COULDN'T kill the nerfed beta vanaduke until he got his vog and most other beta players killed him in 2*-3* gear when he was much harder than when Magnus joined. He claims to be the first to get a fang of vog when we all had them before he even knew about spiral knights. Most older beta players hardly consider him a veteran player as he didn't experience most of the beta. Don't let his constant raging at other players who threaten his popularity through superior skill bother you. Lol. Gotta hate when someone becomes popular because they break the games rules and record videos during the closed beta making them the only one with videos up.

I mean, just look at his post. Look at how he had to defend his silly attempt to ruin Magnus-kun's image again. Chris-chan knows that Mag-kun can't get onto the forums, so Chris-chan thinks he has all power over Magnus-kun's image now. Its just flat out wrong.
So pretty much Chris-chan thinks most of you forum-go-er-sempai's are naive and think that you'll believe this. I'm also positive the GM-sensei's would KNOW if "Magnus-Guild" was actually Magnus-kun, and have banned him by now. Chris-chan also thinks they are naive too! =^w^=
I will admit, Chris-chan is a very persuasive neko, no wonder he sticks around on SK and takes it so seriously. Chris-chan feels very empowered more then he would be in his real life.

Edit: I would also like to add the rest of Chris-chan's silly post. Look at how he flat out told more of a poop story about Magnus-kun. Then he had his Magnus-kun alt post a reply Magnus-kun would never say. Magnus-kun doesn't have terrible grammar nor does he say "Ty" as "Thank you".

The "Top 10" lists submitted by both users (the same user, rather) are nearly identical, and as far as I'm concerned, Chris is the only person on these forums who would make a list (who else would even make a thread about this anyways?) based around who is "good at battles, persuassive, cunning and famous." It is also just like Chris to try to make Magnus look bad and list his own guild on each list (even the one submitted by his main account).

I've never played against another guild who has had 6/6 skolver yet.
Knightmare usually has 1-3 skolvers.

Only one or two people in finesse actually plays skillfully. By this I mean skillful maneuvering, smart positioning, and etc.
They mostly all just spam click every game because nobody has a full 6/6 skolver heart pendant team like them.

finesse members let it go to their head way too much.

Also reading up... Magnus pm'ed me multiple times from the account Magnus-Guild before we stopped being friends in-game. This was like the second month of release... aka MAY 2011...
He obviously is talking in a way that doesn't resemble himself so people don't put together so fast that it is him.

I find it kind of surprising that all the discussion here has been about guilds being the "best" based on skill level on some kind. That's more than a little odd because I don't think anyone here chose their guild based on how competent the officers were.

There really seems to be a rather sharp division between guilds based on, most notably, entrance requirements. Most of the guilds that are "best" at something have 5-star gear entrance requirements and are very strict about how skilled their players are. Knightmare is just one of many guilds that makes an FSC exam mandatory, to give an example. Obviously there's going to be highly competent players in LD, Blast Network, FSC runs, and total wealth, because you don't get 5-star gear without going at least SOME time in the Clockworks practicing.

But saying that applies to all guilds is ridiculous. Some guilds (I don't know enough to give a percentage) have much lower entrance requirements, have "gimmick" requirements, or have no entrance requirements at all. If you're looking for the "best" guild, would you even consider joining such an outfit? What if you have friends in the guild? What if (and I'm surprised this isn't more common) the guild has a special interest beyond recipe and boss grinding? Are those extra factors worth paying attention to?

I suppose the point here is that 1) you really can't get anything more accurate than a personal opinion, and 2) the "best" guilds are those which people WANT to join. I'll admit a little bias here: as a Kage no Senshi member I was (moderately, given I can't tell if he's joking or not) insulted by the original poster's analysis that we are full of noobs. First of all, that's untrue pretty much by virtue of our GM alone. Second, it's irrelevant, because even if we accept just about anyone and only use equipment/skill for ranking decisions we're still a reasonably popular guild. Maybe not in the top ten "best" guilds, but people know who we are and respect us.

In any case I suspect I've really said nothing of any importance and have probably just made a fool of myself, but that's life.
