Two-handed Weapons and 'flame' throwers

I imagine it would be something like this:

the weapon either also has a shield component to it (unlikely) or just takes up two weapon slots. Swords would be giant claymores and the like perhaps ( upgraded slow swords anyone?), guns could be longer ranged rifles, or machine gun like with continuous fire while stationary. Bombs could possibly get a grenade launcher even.

Aside from this, how about 'flame' throwers? I imagine something like a cone attack akin to either zombie breath or simply like gremlin ones. Of course they would cover all the status weapons. Perhaps a single bullet attack, but cone on a charge? Something like bombs really, but instead of drop and run they would have directional/ranged ability. Some could be streamed or others coned. Lots of possibilitis to work with here. And nothing beats burning enemies to death ~_^ even being able to sweep flame around and do more damage if you keep the flame on them longer, in addition to the status effect.

Yeah, something like

Yeah, something like that.

That would do great as an auto-weapon. A support cannon in the same theme would be awesome. Or a plasma-beam gun. Or a laser, or something. Bombers could also get a grenade launcher of sorts, which I think would be an amazing weapon to add in for bombers.

The game really is lacking true squad support weapons. Sure we have bombs, but those aren't sit-back and support your team. Those are fast, frantic, and entirely in the mix.

As for the two handed weapons, I looked some up. Most are people who want dual wielding weapons. My idea is actual two handed weapons, take up 2 weapon slots instead of one. Also, I still don't see why shields would have to be removed.

However, while using two-handed weapons, I could entirely see the players getting a movement speed reduction, and also getting a slower speed perhaps for bringing up a shield as well. Either way, the use of a two-handed weapon would very quickly eat up weapon slots, and due to their nature, would simply not be able to take on every single situation, so you would almost HAVE to have at least 3 or 4 weapon slots if you wished to use one (which is good for OOO).

Hell, flame throwers could be both one and two handed versions... Wouldn't that be sweet? And a great alternative for gunners instead of taking a haze bomb.

yes

I think that for two handed weapons u just cannot use your shield, probably their only drawback. But it makes up with super damage.

@Zjet

You seem to have necro'd one of the thousands of dual wielding threads. This is forgivable as it's difficult to know which one is the best choice. Might I direct you to three threads that are more fleshed out and discussed:

Fehzor's
Autofire's
Mine

Any of these three would be an acceptable thread to necro and give your support and suggestions.
