I prefer the original artwork posted, but hey, they're all good! :D +1
EDIT: By 'first idea' I meant the tinyurl link :P
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Gyro_Avengers_(Guild) has a suggestion area, and it shows an idea for the snarby gun. I agree with this, as i myself, hating guns somehow like the antigua. It is 1 of the 2 guns i can work with (other being RT gun, pulsar.). +1 for each person i have xD i would do more, but that would be cheating. I also thought that a hologram snarby would come out, slightly like the swords hologram but longer and stronger. I think it might have a slight chance of poison personaly, seeing as it turns rabid AND the gear (non-weapons obvs) has poison resist. And we just need a quick gun that deals pirce for those greavers so we don't get in there [status] gas zone.
I'd have no problem with a Snarbolax gun with both piercing and mobility, but I think an Antigua re-skin doesn't really match the aesthetics and lore of the Snarbolax. Something that looks like a baby Snarb growing out of the Knight's arm would be more appropriate, especially with the holographic charge attack. If somehow piercing == Antigua aesthetics-wise, however, disregard this concern.
I'm just not a fan of anorexic guns in general, though I do acknowledge that many real life guns are skinny.
On another note, I'm no gun expert so I don't know if there are any fast bullet (Magnus-style) guns with the Blaster line's handling mechanics (1 click 1 shot, multi-shot clip, slow walk while firing - but not necessarily with knockback) but I'd love to have a gun like that and I feel Snarb would be a good place to start...
... unless that would be OP of course.
i made a cool drawing, it's basicly a re-skin of the antigua (one wing) but the wing was the snarbolax. I might scan it.
SHAMELESS BUMP.
No seriously I'd love a fast piercing gun that doesn't leave you wide open while firing.
Another shameless bump.
If you ever got mad at someone for bumping this thread, you deserve to be taken out to a nice dinner then never called again.
Seriously this thing needs to be done. I'm tired of being vulnerable with those damn greavers and have nothing to do but spam polaris or valiance. Make this part of the new content!
Love it I just love it I was thinking about a design the other day hrmmm love to see more designs
I love this idea and I hope Three Rings add this to the game.
+1
I agree with you Gun-Up.
considering gunners need a mobile-while-firing piercing antigua gun as well as a 2 star option of a piercing gun for new players since there isn't one.
And considering there isn't a gun reward for Snarbolax unlike sword and bombs.
COME ON, there are TOO MANY good reasons to add this. It is just amazing. It can't be THAT hard to implement a piercing antigua with a different skin. It's what we want.
I think that unlike other guns it should be more like a shotgun because there are none of those ingame atm. It could shot 4 close range bullets with 3rounds that+piercing damage and it would have relatively high damage but slow fire rate...
I love snarby but i hate that it has no gun (with me being a gunslinger and all). MODERATORS, THIS IS A MUST!!!
First off I love the fact that the original poster actually took the time to think out and even design his idea. WAY forward thinking. +1
Second, I spend a LOT of time in solo play. As such, I tend to always equip both a Sword and a Gun, rouge style. I try to decide before I go in what combo would work best for that particular level. Some times with very good results and sometimes... well, I die... Violently... It happens. What I am noticing is exactly what people here have been complaining about: The lack of a good Piercing style gun. It would REALLY come in handy some times. I'll admit that dealing with dodgers is a pain. (hint: Try to lure them into a narrow space so they CAN'T dodge.) It would be nice if WHEN I hit one it would actually do some noticeable damage.
Great Idea. I'm not a gunner, for say, but I still support this, whole heartedly.
still in need of this gun. A piercing gun available for new players (first 2 star piercing gun) from Snarbolax (snarby no give gun) that allows us to move while firing (stupid Callahan / Needle autoguns).
Why are we not adding this?!!??!??!?
>:(
This might be a good idea the gun should have a blitz needlelook and should let out a roar when you do a charge attack
...No.
If you read anything at all about the thread, you'd realize how stupid that is.
I'll spell it out for ye:
The entire reason we want a Snarbolax is because we want a piercing gun that is not Callahan nor Blitz Needle.
It's not a bad idea at all, but in my opinion, if you want to do a gun with snarbolax's style you shouldn't use antigua's lines , your gun's design looks too simple and thin, i think you should use some large gun's lines like blitz needle, it's not a bad idea, or calahan.
Best idea yet!
I love how it works and how it looks.
But how much piercing dmg would it do?
That's my main question of the day!
And I need answers until then It's GREAT
YES THIS IS AWESOME ADD IT AND I'll DO SNARB UNTIL I GET THAT FRICKEN AWESOME GUN
You do realize it was made in december right? Good indeed, but dont expect much attention.
Looks like I'm not the only one who's thinking about a snarby gun. I was just about to post a suggestion today when I came across yours :P. Heres what I think. If the Barbarous Thorn Blade is basically a reskin of the Final Flourish (with just a different charge), the Spine Cone line being the piercing version of the Blast Bomb line, then the "Snarbolax Gun' should be a reskin of either the Callahan or Blitz (most likely the blitz).
Perhaps its name should be Barbarous Thorn Gun
The 2* one is Thorn Gun, 3* is Twisted Thorn Gun, 4* is Dark Thorn Gun, and 5* is Barbarous Thorn Gun
The charge attack (just like the sword) depending on if its a reskin of the callahan or blitz, launches a phantasmal snarbolax forward
it should look like AP but have those orange tipped spines insted of wings
Thorn Shot--> Spike shot---> Briar Shot--> Barborus Briar Shot
antigua 3*--> Marksman 4* --> Deadshot magnum 5*
I feel that gunners are always left out, no SL gun armor, no gun from OCH (yes there is a helm but not the same) and no gun for Snarby! So... DOUBLY +1 ALL THE WAY ACROSS THE SKY!
Wow, this thread is one year old people, please stop necro-ing
Would you rather have new threads on 5* mobility-based piercing guns, or this one... with art... to be necro'd?
If people made new threads on it, they'd be told to use the search bar (which is only relevant if they don't have enough info or the idea was hated in the past), and if they bumped this, people would complain again unless it was a wall of text and still relevant. Right now for example.
It's a choice between two 'evils'. Bumping the dead is the better option this time.
I don't care about this one getting bumped. Until it's implemented, this thread will always be relevant.
I like your original art for the idea and think it would be awesome
I've been thinking for a while that the antigua needs a piercing line and i think your idea would be a good way to have a piercing dmg six shooter
Here's my design for a snarby gun http://il-ja.deviantart.com/art/Snarbolax-Gun-Concept-Art-349672861?ga_s...
It has the looks as antigua and instead of wings I put spikes (which is the spike of the Snarbolax) not just on top and bottom of the gun barrel, but also at the sides of it.
Ahem..I think there might be a problem here ?
I don't want to go back to the first pages...
How can a fast gun hit a dodging enemies ? I think we all know the monsters weak to piercing, that are Fiends + Beasts.
Fiends :
Trojan :
This monster is easy to handle with a piercing fast gun, no problem.
Greaver :
Greavers are very dangerous to fight with guns, plus they spin around you, so using a gun with them would be lethal.
Devilite :
Would you guys explain how are you going to hit them with a fast gun ? Hmm...Let's see. First, this mob tend to dodge much VERY MUCH, so attacking them with a gun that fires fast single bullets is actually silly, because your chance of landing damage would be small I guess, right ?
Silkwings :
They are easy to take, looking that they don't move a lot from their places.
Beasts :
Wolver :
Same problem with Devilites. Try to shoot these cute small cubs with Sentenza, and see how hard it is to hit them with it. Seriously ?!
Chromalisks :
I guess these would be no problem, because they don't dodge, neither digs in the ground and come from the other side....
So that's 3 out of 6 monsters that the gun would be efficient against. Is it really worth ? And the monsters that would be weak against that gun are the easier part of the 2 families, which I think takes out the reason of having that gun. Otherwise, the gun design looks amazing, but its purpose is weak.
Omg, stop nerco-ing this thread people >.> If you haven't noticed, its about 2 years old.
"its about 2 years old."
True, but it's also the most detailed and supported 'Piercing Antigua' thread.
As for your Downpoint Dragneel; DPS isn't all there is to a weapon. Myself, I use the Antigua-line mostly for it's clip size and rapid-fire ability. When not using it specifically for damage, I use it to hit Blast Cubes, flip switches, break blocks, or even as a nuisance. In such cases, being able to deal damage is a bonus.
Take for example, a crowd of Wolvers. One would think to tote a Blitz, but not everyone is adept at handling the lack of mobility the weapon provides.
So, you take an Antigua-line gun. To avoid being surrounded, you decide to fire off shots at select targets, to spur their evade mechanic so that they get out of your way. In such cases, while you shots serve another purpose, the damage they deal is a side-benefit.
Devilites are a similar case. Their dodge-mechanic is nice to exploit on occasion by firing off shots so that they'll move. Whilst a Magnus-line gun would technically be better suited, the extra shots mean that you can handle more targets in a shorter time.
As for Greavers, I always find myself letting loose at them with my Silversix, to interrupt their attacks before they start homing and surround me. The extra damage afforded by a piercing Antigua would be much appreciated.
TL;DR: It's not always about the DPS, rather, the fact that it deals damage worth using, coupled with the other mechanics.
"Omg, stop nerco-ing this thread people >.> If you haven't noticed, its about 2 years old."
yeah... we should all create a new topic when discussing an antigua'ish 4*/5* piercing weapon... good eye on noticing the date on the OP -_- no go to the general forum and troll necrobumping where it realy matters!
OT:
still no news on this? :( made a new knight (a gunner this time) but stopped because i realy don't like the current piercing weapons. i like T3 beast stratums and like to play some more fiend ones but with the current weapons, wolvers take to much time and fiends... well don't get me started on that.
the autogun line for it's lack of mobility (and well it's just a one shot massive damage standing frozen gun)
and the magnus line allthough a nice ammount of damage is again lacking in the mobility department. fire both bullets and you have to reload (might take down the enemy if you can hit both bullets) fire 1 bullet when healers are around is fighting an uphill batlle...
now with the cat event i found a new love in the silversix (and now actualy thinking of upgrading it) i made this to use on devilites but after they changed it to pure elemental (ok the extra damage wasn't realy THAT great but it was something) i love the mobility and nice to actualy dodge devilites instead of finding a window to actualy shoot the bastards with the magnus (and potentialy get struck from all sides by overtimers) :s
and who ever said "try hitting a wolver with a sentenza" ... i actualy use an antigua in T3 for wolvers when i'm bored -_- if you can't hit them, well learn the attacks and learn to aim if you have trouble with it.
