From what I know shield canceling is impossible to do it with a guardian shield since it take like 5sec to set up the shield.

That's not quite true. You can shield cancel without any problem. For yourself, the shield mechanism is similar to the one in clockworks.

The big bubble is for your teamates who are inside (it takes 1 sec, not 5 sec) and to regen hp (if the shield is not broken).

Only the guardian class has a "shield" in LD. So it is easier to shield cancel with them. I only play T1 LD, and when i go recon its just spamming firecrackers. I haven't tried using the cloak to shield cancel. I'm not sure how strikes shield cancel. It's usually hit, dash, hit.

UV's are generally worth it from crafting. I personally don't like the damage vs family uv's, simply because I use effective weapons on monsters anyways.

The thing about us's is that many of those are given by armour bonus. Take swordsmen. Skolver/vog gives you dmg/asi, and trinkets cover the other missing pair. Throw on a bts, and you probably have asi/damage maxed out. Then all you need is some ctr uv's on the sword, depending. Or, you can forget having trinkets. Say you have full vog, but you don't want asi trinks to max out the speed. Then having a low or med would cap it around. So lows and meds are useful, as in more likely to be obtained and still works well.

For hybrid sets, a high uv works well for a weapon you currently are not using the armour set for.

Yea, roll uv's on 5* gear, depending on your play style by then.

Just found out in LD, shield

Just found out in LD, shield cancelling with abilities still works fine with regard to cancelling the attack animation. Hmm, I noticed that with a level 1 punch gun, another player seemed to be able to fire a much faster projectile than mine, even though both of us did not have any buffs or anything equipped. The same went for another player who had a Spur; both of our spurs were released at the same time, although his traveled much faster. Does this have anything to do with lag? Or does it just depend on the point of view? Speaking of the Spur, it's currently level 10 with a UV CTR Very High(total of maximum ctr). I currently don't use it anymore, any advice on what to do with it? I was thinking of unbinding and crafting to sell, or to wait and see if there's an upgrade after winmillion and so forth.

Lag. Is there another line

Lag.

Is there another line for the spur besides winmillion? If it is bound, go ahead and upgrade it. But it's heated, so might as well craft it into one of the lines.

Lag? Really? It sounds like lag, but the graphics were still smooth and consistent, always at the same lower speed. Hmm.....
Spur? No, the only swords in the line are Spur, Arc Razor and Winmillion. Although the basic attack description seems awfully fun...does it mean a spur charge attack with every basic swing without the retreating step? I'll keep it if it is lol....
http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Winmillion
Speaking of Spur, some of the cooler looking weapons don't seem as good as the others, e.g. wild hunting blade, spur line, cutter line etc. Sure, the spur line is okay for gunners and bombers, but there's levi blade, and the cutter line's a bit harder to use in the sense that it's more offensively and more opportunistically orientated. (spamming when the enemy is down/asleep, or getting owned otherwise)
Edit: Hmm, thinking of getting Winmillion if theres a 5* version. I've heard of selling to vendors, how does that work?

Yep, throws out balls o light. Counts as projectiles for the enemies that dodge.

DVS of the cutter line is good for JK. WHB is... pretty effing cool to use.

Winmillion has no 5*. Theres a wiki page on vendors, which also lists prices when selling to vendors. 3* is 3500, 4* is 10k, and 5* is 50k. But I'm guessing. Vendoring works for items you crafted, assuming you use mist and not dive that day. It isn't worth crafting up to 5*, as the vendor costs is less than the crafting costs. And even if it was as high, you have to consider the crafting costs used in its precursors.

Vendoring equipments is a way to make money off boss tokens. Jelly mail is 15tokens. Multiply by two for easier numbers. 2 jelly armour for 30 tokens. Thats 10 runs. The vendors buy at 3500 each. For 100 energy used in getting to JK and getting 3 tokens, you get 7k. At ce prices for now, thats a profit.

Yeah, I meant if they patch

Yeah, I meant if they patch it, apparently the troika lines used to go up to 4* only. Currently 50% divided on whether to get WHB....a nom on every swing is awfully tempting......
Hmm, thinking ofgetting a winmillion to use with my snarble line....twisted snarble seems to take out all the dodgers pretty well for me...
I'm assuming vendors buy bounded items? Otherwise the crowns seem an awful ripoff......I heard you can't trade boss rewards such as antigua, but I found a few of them in AH. So it's only no trading between players directly?

I've only been playing for 2 and a half months. I'm not as experienced with anything that came out before shadow lairs.

There isn't really a situation where you would use winmillion. Besides T1 and showing off to the new players.

Yep, they do. By trading, you mean from players? Idk if you can find them as a box drop, but you could unbind and sell.

@Nubskills Yes, the troika

@Nubskills

Yes, the troika lines used to go up to 4* only. The WHB is not very good at all, but it sure looks cool as hell when you use it.

You shouldn't get Winmillion. Even if it eventually goes up to 5*, it wouldn't be that good comparing to Levi for normal damage. And if you already have a Snarble, you should get another non-normal weapon.

Vendors do buy bounded items, but it's not quite as much as how much it costs to craft them. You usually used that to "resell" your tokens, meaning you buy a brute jelly part with Jelly tokens and an Ancient plate part with Almirian seals and resell that to the vendor to make some quick money.

To trade boss rewards, you need to unbind them, which is crazy expensive. Currently, the price to sell boss rewards is so low (because there is a lot of people who have too much tokens) that you are better off just selling parts to vendors.

Right, guess I won't be getting winmillion or whb for now. Currently having avenger, faust, fireburst, iceburst, twisted snarble, fiery vaporiser, freezing vaporiser, dusker set and twisted targe. At least, those are the ones I use, although i usually go with avenger+faust....
Ah, so boss rewards are bound....If I were to get the calibur line, i might as well get CIV for the look and the bonus, i guess....OK, thanks guys!

Equipment drops

Is there a wiki page in regard to equipment drops in the Clockworks? I was wondering about factors such as the drop rate, equipment lines, types of equipment, the level of randomness involved, etc. I heard that certain lines of equipment can be found on certain depths or areas, and from what I've seen the drop rate is generally quite low.

Are we talking equipment drop rates from treasure boxes?

Logically, we can assume the red ones, being treasure boxes of higher quality, has a higher chance of dropping gear, or drops higher quality. Yes, the drop rates are all rather low.

I havn't heard of monsters dropping gear, besides love puppies. And I vaguely remember reading something about rock jellies dropping jelly armours, but I have nothing to back it up.

Dunno if gates matter.

Put it this way, I've gotten one equip drop from my 2-3 months of playing. And it was in the JK room. I'm not even sure if it was from jk, or the boxes I went ahead to open.

Brute jelly helm went to my best friend though, so its all good.

Drops we've had so far

Drops we've had so far are...Wolver part, Sun Shards, Brute Jelly Mail and...something else, I forget what. I do 2man runs w/ my girl and we've been playing since June (with a couple inactive months) and that's all we've had. The Brute Jelly was somewhere in RJP, but I've no idea whether it was a box or jelly; I didnae even notice I got it, she just telt me afterwards.
Generally it's red boxes like Demo said, but the rates are low enough that you're better off just assuming you won't get any drops; let them be a rare surprise, there's no way to farm them or up the drop rates that I know off.

Although there was a rumour (a chinese whisper, an old anecdote, i couldn't say for sure how accurate) that Darkfang shields have a chance to drop from T3 Gremlins, but that it's even less likely than regular drops. Like, astronomically unlikely. Or that could just be codswallop.

Ah ok, thanks! I heard wolver parts drop from snarby, and that some equips are only dropped in some areas. Hmm, where was the sun shards bomb? Not that i'll farm it, but i might keep an eye out for it :3 Yesterday, my friend had a lucky find in an arena treasure box, he'd found a rock jelly mail, which i advised him to sell. He doesn't really use non uv'ed items, so i don't think he'll need it. Plus, he could potentially make alot seeing how its a 4* and there aren't many AH versions. Hmm, might as well stick with spamming RJP i guess. Oh yeah, how much less loot does IMF give compared to RJP on an approximate scale? I was thinking of getting a catalyzer after a pulsar for fun, or a static capacitor lol, or i could try selling antigua/sealed on AH, it seems worth it even with the unbind, judging by the cheapest AH price....

I don't liike IMF. The payout

I don't liike IMF. The payout seems really low, as most of the challenge is in puzzles. As in, really really low, compared to RJP.

Is selling antigua on ah really worth it? I always thought the price being above unbind, was because any under the unbind price, is bought out. Because to make profit from selling the weapons, you'll need the unbind price of 600ce, and the 70ish energy you used to run the boss level. 670ce, and you have to consider what else to do with those tokens. 15 tokens nets you 3500cr by vendoring jelly armour. That is around 233cr per token. Thus, per token, a sealed/antigua is worth around 4600. If we go by 6400 as the cr/ce exchange rate, the total cost in cr is 47k.

But you may not consider the ce used to get to JK as a cost, which changes the entire thing.

IMF

The IMF is pretty good once you know how to deal with it. There are tons of small tips and questionably intended things that you can do to evade damage there. Once you figured most of them out, the IMF is easy as hell. It also only gives like 500 less crowns.

I don't like encouraging people to buy Antiguas. Whenever someone asks me if they should, I respond sarcastically: "Why would you buy an Antigua? Just run the RJP for the tokens... oh wait, you don't want to PLAY the video GAME for your gear? In that case, go ahead!" Yet people still do it, which confuses the hell out of me.

@Traevelliath I know the tricks to evade rockets, exploding bombs and lasers, but with lag, i seem to run into an awful lot of rockets without touching them....
"Yet people still do it, which confuses the hell out of me."
Basically the reason why I'm considering selling them, seeing how there's still demand even for items like this.

@Nubskills Tisk tisk, you are actually evading rockets... Just wait for the stupid/impulsive people to run ahead of you and turn all the turrets off. There are only like 3 sections of the entire IMF that have turrets that cannot be turned off. When people accuse you of being slow, just say "I got a lagspike" or "Ahh! Everything is teleporting!" or "I'm walking through walls right now!" or something else blaming lag :P

**Rant Warning**
Hmm, not sure if i'll get one of those. I was very indecisive before, trying to upgrade everything, since I like both the brandish and sealed lines, so im currently too low on money for any 5* upgrades :/ Currently focusing on upgrading one more piece of equipment(dusker cap) so i can finally get into tier 3 >.< I don't think i'll be getting levi or civ yet, sure they both have different and good charge attacks and damage, but I was thinking of upgrading my brandish and sealed lines first, being too indecisive to stick with the lines. From what I've seen, after the update, the brandish lines are better in damage from the speed and statuses, while the sealed lines are better in defense from the knockback per hit. Haven't got a shockburst yet, I think i might get a combuster for general use, along with a DA. if i were to get a normal damage sword, i was considering WHB, accidentally had a cutter equipped in training hall and got invited into a stratum 4 danger room(someone wanted a rev and didn't tell me anything), managed to do okay(had to use it a bit differently, like heavies) with it after I realised that darkfang thwackers hit twice, and gremmie flamers dont just cover a line, and with a side effect of everybody constantly getting killed. T^T

TL;DR: Too poor, gonna craft stuff anyway, might get WHB instead of Levi or CIV.

Edit: For some reason, my pulsar's shots fly for a while and expand a short distance behind the initial shot, instead of the initial shot directly replaced by an expanding shot....Anyone got an explaantion for this? o.O

Dvs over whb, but thats just

Dvs over whb, but thats just me. Dvs works against jk with poison, and vana mask phase for the same reason. But of course, pick whb if you want. Theres a video guide on how to use it on youtube, look it up. Cutter line is just a really different line of swords, I don't remember reading any numbers on how well their damage output compares to levi/civ.

Upgrading everything to 4* is a great idea, then check what you want to upgrade and how much the upgrade is going to benefit you.

Happened to me when I first got my pulsar. Annoying, since I wasn't sure if the unexpanded shots that reach further hit with expansion or not. Seems to be about 4 squares before explosion. From what I see, the initial shot will explode, as long as it passes the point where the expanded shot starts flying.

Hmm...I see.....I'm kinda liking slow swords less now, due to lag messing up what I see(attacks seem to ignore shields, dodging an attack still gets you hit, a trap activating after you leave still hits, etc.). I was thinking of getting a Silent NB after ashtail cap for its speed to defy lag hits more, along with a gigawatt to deal with turrets >.<

Two new questions, this time about shield bumping:

Broken shields won't bump,

Broken shields won't bump, you can still cancel though. If the shield returns while you are holding your shield key, it will act like a shieldbump.

You can bump them, but the shield has to be 5*. Perhaps a plate shield or omega line can do it at 4*, but 5*'s can. The bump actually gets annoying for me. Using my btb on them, its two hit cancel, then two hit again. The cancel sometimes pushes them away.

If you get cornered without a shield strong enough to bump, pull out your gun and peg them a few times. If you hit trojans with ranged, they get pushed back after 2 or 3 shots. Pulsars work, even unexpanded.

Ah ok, that explains it. Hmm, so the amount of stars a shield has is realted to the bump? Does the star level effect bump distance too? Hmm, I usually go with two swords(2 slots) for type advantages, guess i'll bring a gun along next time lol....With Drivers, if you turn auto aim off and fire to the right of your knight, can the same shot can bounce off the same enemy, or does it have to bounce off another enemy? I was kinda thinking of using pulsar for all arounder usage, or valiance, which looks to be much faster than the pulsar line. The speed bar seems same as the pulsars on the wiki though :/
Also, I noticed that other players with magnus type guns seem to have much, much faster bullets than I do. Seems to be for all projectiles for me, am I the only one?

Not exactly. Its seems to

Not exactly. Its seems to bethe amount of health a shield has that determines the strength of the bump.

I always have auto aim off, unless its for LD. Heavy swords need to have autoaim off for max effectiveness. Take your mk2 alchemer to the ath and practice shooting at the wall. Take note of the ricochet, how it always goes to the left of your knight. The angle is random, varies between 90 degrees to the left and almost straight back at you.

This makes you take note of monster hitboxes, especially the shape of such monsters. With swords, all you are concerned about is closing the distance enough to strike. With alchemers, its shooting to the right of yourself, and hitting the monster with the rest of its hitbox angled so it will catch the ricochet. Basically, don't shoot a lumber head on, run circles around it and peg its arm.

The valiance does seem to be faster than a pulsar, but I have no real proof.

Magnus lines are intended to be fast, hard hitting shots, in order to deal with dodgey monsters like devilites and wolvers. The bullet speed is to ensure the shots hit before they move. Or are you saying you have a magnus and compared the bullet speed? That is most likely another latency issue.

Ah ok, maybe I should get a

Ah ok, maybe I should get a VPS for vana and bumps, idk :/
Hmm, there's a few things I need to clarify:
I see, but should I toggle autoaim on for fast swords? A piercing line sword seems to work very well even on gremlins with autoaim on for me....

So, it's possible for a ricocheting shot to bounce into the same monster immediately after a single shot? Just making sure, since I'm considering getting a driver lol

Just bought a blaster, it's definitely faster than a pulsar.

I've compared my punch gun and pummel gun with others using the same weapon in Training Hall, neither of us had any speed boosts, but I always see their animation faster than mine, with their gun being an instant shot compared to my much slower one. This applies to blaster bullets, snarble barb spines, spur charge projectile, etc. Even when nothing else is lagging, others seem to have faster projectiles. My hardware and internet speed should be fine, but I still seem to get lag. Not sure if it's lag, because the animation doesnt break or skip bits like lag usually does, its more of a smooth increase to speed.

Edit: As a seconday shield, should I get GOS, VPS or Omega? I'm planning to do a lot of vana runs, any recommendations for which shield is more suited here? I was considering owlite for its all-rounder defense and status resist, but I can't decide which line to go with.
Is there a reason why Tortodrones no longer exist? They seem fun to fight :3

VPS, when compared to GoS,

VPS, when compared to GoS, grey owlite, is only better due to the fact that the slags guards and mace does normal damage. The fireballs and mask shots seem to be elemental, where GoS is better. Personally, GoS for a shield, since elemental is present in almost every depth. It is also better for running into shadow fire, or the fire pits. In fact, the 4* owlite can take a vana mace without breaking from full health. Just... don't go running into anything else with that shield.

Yes, it is possible for ricochets. Takes skill and tons of practice.

It could be a fps thing, which is then related to your computer and not the server.

I wasn't here for the tortodrones. Apparently they were op monsters to noobs. I read the wiki page on them, and they do seem very strong against inexperienced and solo players. Chain rush crushes shields, and the amount of hp they have is no joke.

Right, I'll aim for a GOS

Right, I'll aim for a GOS then. Most of the time I was killed in FSC was by fire, so I guess I'll need the resistance. Kinda hard leaving my sword damage bonus DTS behind though....

Hmm, any idea on how to improve the fps? A better graphics card or less programs running at once? A low fps might be the reason why my shield doesnt always tank hits.

With the top right hand corner of the game window, is that the ping bar? Mine is always at one bar(red zone), is this due to the servers being based in US/Europe? Any way to improve this somehow? From what I've seen on wikipedia, there's not much i can do :/

I played with dts in fsc. It

I played with dts in fsc. It works, as long as you really work on dodging. For vana himself, it won't help you past phase 1, masks, and p3 if you are good. Most of the fight is in p5, slag guards and double fireball ring. Generally, people use guns on this phase, because dousing all the fireballs and getting close to melee isn't the safest way.

I am terrible, technology wise. Yea, making sure your computer isn't working on anything else would speed up processing speed. The bars on the top right is ping. Theres a post somewhere, buried, with a dev/gm post on approximations of ping per bar. 1 bar, red, is rather low. I play on 2 most of the time, gameplay is choppy but doable. Occasionally it drops down to 1, and I have to rely on prediction of enemy movement to play, not the view on the screen.

Ping/fps/computer related help can't be answered fully or well by me. Perhaps try the technical section of the forums?

Just went over to the tech corner, apparently the ping can't be helped, since I'm in australia, so i'll always have horrible ping. :'(

I use heavy swords. I honest to god hate using the medium speed sword styles. I just don't seem to be ale to peg more than one monster with it. Dodging for me consists of swing, shield cancel, move to the side, and swing.

2 wep slots is all you need to be successful, 3 to fully utilize all damage/have utility. 4 for even more utility and/or damage type. It doesn't seem like the number of weapon slots matter for lag. The slot is there, you just can't equip it.

Hmm, I was thinking of

Hmm, I was thinking of switching over to med speed swords, with low ping and fps I get hit even if I time my swings and cancelling correctly, attacks can still hit me with my shield raised :/ I usually use your method of swing, cancel, flank and repeat for gun puppies, but it gets risky since I can't correctly calculate the enemies' movements. Much safer to run behind a slow or aggro'ed enemy and whack them a bit instead of using timing to pull off combos.

So, just another ploy from the devs to make money? I read a post by a dev somewhere in another game that too many inventory slots can lag the server, since they are loaded every time someone logs on. But then again, I guess this is weapon slots, not the inventory. Although maybe having more weapon slots can make it too easy/OP

Are there any good strategies on taking vana? From what ive heard, good weapons for vana would be blitz, btb, argent, rss, is there any tips on what to do or use? I did read the wiki, just wondering if there's more to its strategy, such as staying a slight distance away from jk while whacking its hitbox.

Also, is visiting the boss stage for tier 2 and 3 worth it if you disregard the tokens? I mean, in terms of ce costs and such, maybe with the odd revive or two. Not sure if i should do them or not if im running on ce and i join halfway through.

I can't comment anymore on

I can't comment anymore on strategies during low fps/ping/lag. You just have to get used to it.

Good strats? Classic shiver blitz. One person uses shivermist buster, the other charges a blitz needle to release on a frozen vana. Solo, you can still blitz. However, slags and shadow fire are a lot more problematic. If I solo, I use my gigawatt pulsar for body phases with fireball. Btb for phase 1, for all the masks, then switch to pulsar to damage over the fireballs. Really slow though. Takes like 20-30 minutes for the entire fight. And the last phase is literally how well you circle vana, dodge slags, water fire, and not get cornered.

Argent peacemaker is a good gun for vanaduke solos. More mobility due to a larger clip, you can choose when to shield for 5 shots, as opposed to pulsars 2 before reload. Rss for pure bombers, as they require skill to land multiple shards on vana.

I don't run IMF enough to comment on cr gains per level and token gains by vendoring. I calculated the rjp and jelly tokens, however.

15tokens for 1 item to be vendored at 3500. 5 runs, 50 energy to enter, assuming a full run. You gain about 400cr total. Really small, because that's around 20cr per jelly king you fight.

Now assuming you get 2 tokens. That's more runs to obtain 15, more energy spent. More effort to collect the same amount of gain that is already rather low.

No, not worth it if you don't manage to start from the beginning.

Howeverm fsc levels are different. I believe you can skip blackstone bridge, D24, and join on charred court and still receive 3 tokens. At worst, alm seals are 1k cr, if used to vendor ancient sets. 1250cr, if vendoring fangs of vog. 30 and 40 seals, respectively.

Hmm.....I see.....I think

Hmm.....I see.....I think I'll refer back to your info in the near future lol...thanks for the tips, by the way.

Does the damage bar for the cutter line include the 2nd phantom hit of the sword? I was thinking of getting a cutter line for my normal damage sword, instead of levi. From what I've heard, it's absolutely horrible to use, but from personal experience I don't think it's too bad, I like its flexibility and speed for cancelling, and with lag and low fps, i guess i might need all the flexibility i can get.

Too much stuff to craft, too little crowns to do so. Currently I'm planning on giving my twisted snarble a long deserved upgrade, along with upgradiing my kilowatt seeing as how i use it so often anyway, and maybe moving on to DA next for FSC, upgrading my owlite before that, getting a WHB, shivermist, blitz, argent, magma driver, etc. etc.
Any advice on what I should focus my priorities on first? Extra advice on ways to make crowns would be appreciated as well lol....I'm broke again after getting a UV'ed brandish from AH.

Should I get a Nightblade for gremlins? I've got two from AH, one having gremlin bonus med and another having gremlin bonus high. From what i've seen of the t3 gremmies, a little extra speed could help, especially in chasing or retreating, which i do often around gremlins. Keeping in mind that I'm currently in the red zone in terms of funding, I won't be crafting other lines as easily as I would have liked.

Dont't trust damage bars.

Dont't trust damage bars. Just don't. You can post on genera discussion and ask people for statistics on cutter damage in a given period, usually a minute.

I prefer DVS over WHB, because of the poison, and that really helps to shorten vana mask times. However, go whb of you prefer it. AP is rather niche, only useful against vana, since alchemers will rip apart every undead faster, and fiends are dodgey.

Why would you buy a damage vs family uv XD They are almost always never worth it. Getting asi/ctr helps agains 6/6 families, wheras your uv helps against 1/6. Why 2 nightblades? My advice is to sell the grem high to recoup some of the loss, as nightblades have only one line.

Make shiver and blitz your last priority. Shiver is not useful everywhere, and blitz is hard to learn. Have you seen the weapons worth upgrading to * thread in arsenal? Tons of good information there. Upgrading all your gear to 4* before deciding on a large 5* upgrade is generally good.

I prefer upgrading my weapons first, then shields, then armour. However, other people believe that most weapons gain little for the huge crafting costs, and instead opt to upgrade armour for the bonuses it gives. Preference. Some weapons gain a good amount of utility a 5*, like da, brandishes, alchemers, and bombs. Ut by upgrading armour, you technically upgrading your entire sword set, if you use wolver. Upgrading to vog gives all your sword a med asi bonus, whereas upgrading ascended to levi only gives that one weapon an increase in damage.

All preference.

Make friends, join active guild, find jumps to/close to rjp basil. Buying recipes and reselling is a good idea, but perhaps make a list of the recipes that don't sell well. Afaik, spike shower doesn't and the recipes along the shivermist line does. Try not to revive at all, take more time if you have to. If you do, don't fight jk. If you don't think you can kill it, don't fight jk. Wait for arenas. Trade primal spark for 5* mats to sell on ah.

I'm completely f2p and still run rjp on ce, because I have time and there is profit.

Ah ok, I 've read a page

Ah ok, I 've read a page somewhere with regard to sword damage values, lost it now >.<
Edit: Found it, here it is: http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Lancer_Knightz_(Guild)/Data

I was thinking of using the polaris line for my elemental gun, thinking of using it as my sidearm for my sword set.
One reason: WHB has cool attacks.

I found a brandish ASI Med at a very low bid price, but due to differnet time zones, i couldn't win the auction, plus someone decided to bid it at over 50k, way out of my spending range :/

Lol, I got the gremlin high for 11 or 13k, and the med for 2 or 3k, I was thinking of selling one and crafting the other to a NB so that I could take care of gremlins more easily. I'm considering getting gran faust before that though, since it looks better, and my spending is too widespread that I can't really get any upgrades going.

Ah, I was going to use the same upgrading method, at first I considered saving up for the snarby set, but it might be better heading into the shadow lair with better weapons. Yup, thinking of getting DA as my first 5* item. Actually, I found a Polaris ASI Med in AH starting at 5k, increased to 67k and ending soon at 97k(my bid). I borrowed and saved up for that, so that I won't have trouble winning it on lowest bids, but someone decided to select Buy Now lol....DA's charge is something that I'll definitely have to get for the slags and vana in fsc....

Make friends? I should go on the boss run recruitment threads on the forum, since I always spam bosses lol. Join active guild? I tried, but most of them are only semi active at best :/
Hmm, what does fp2 mean?
I'm considering looking on the forums for a shadow lair run on snarby. Would this plan work?:
1. Save up enough CE to pay for Key cost and 5* crafting costs for two armours, with spare CE just in case. Same with crowns, will save them up and have some extra for any unseen circumstances
2. Buy a Nightmare Mane in AH so that I could craft both pieces in one trip. At current CE prices, it'll be a higher loss, but meh.
3. See if I can find a Shadow Lair run for snarby on the forums, or maybe ingame if possible.

Also, are boss shadow lairs similar to the usual runs, except with more and harder(t3?) enemies? I couldn't really find much info on the wiki for the actual preboss runs lol

Damage vs families are just a

Damage vs families are just a really meh stat. Acheron has a better dps, and better charge than GF. GF has more damage per swing, wider arc, the usual heavy sword bonuses. It might sound good in a huge group, but gremlins are rather tough. Even in T2, its hard to chase after bombers and swing, then shield the bomb blast. Acheron is faster, and a spammable charge that doesn't screw you over. All preference though. With enough asi, you can probably attack and shield fast enough.

There should be several guides on UGWW. The loadout seems to be brandsh, ff/btb, polaris, and some sort of utility weapon like haze bomb(s), vortex, or anything you feel you may need. The most common damage seems to be shadow and pieercing, with tons of poison thrown in there. You really need to craft an entire 5* set to be able to take it on, uless you find a group that's willing to carry you through the entire thing. This is where going to guild recruitment is a good idea, to find the guild with goals/achievement/mindset that is like yours.

Buying the mane and having all materials is a easier way than to run UGWW twice. Yep, more and harder enemies.

My advice is to get all your armours up, and reliably solo a T3 fiend strat, simply because those are hard, and teaches you to dodge or die.

There are many videos on youtube for shadow lairs, I remember seeing a solo video of pre snarby levels. Nusqual has tons of vids, definately one on snarbies and unknown passage.

GF looks a lot cooler than

GF looks a lot cooler than acheron for me, which is why i got it, and it has curse, but point 1 of the second/third post of this thread: http://forums.spiralknights.com/en/node/42861
is one of the reasons that I'm a lot better with faster swords, plus I'm used to faster weapons lol....Maybe I could use a piercing sword against gremlins instead, seems a lot easier with it for me.

Ah ok, thanks, I don't think I'll be able to do it solo, I work much better in a team in terms of everything, really. I'll try searching on the forum for a guide on it lol

Hmm, if i'm going solo, i usually lure the faster enemies away for easier fighting and charge spamming. Dodge? OK, definitely screwed then. Can't actually dodge with my fps+ping lol

Cool, I better get searching then ^^

I hope you aren't charging

I hope you aren't charging the gran faust. I really do. Faust is okay, although honestly only justified against jk and giant lichen colonies.

Piercing works perfectly fine against gremlins. Btb charge is great, since it sprays thorns in front of you with a rather nice amount of knockback on small monsters, small like zombie size.

Don't worry about soloing T3 fiends. That was just a comparison. I don't know if you can get a status themed arena down in D28, with devilites for a last wave, supported by greavers and gremlin menders. That seems to be the hardest combination of environment, monsters, and situation.

I'm assuming you're still in T2? You'll find it hard to dodge the turret attacks in T3, assuming you havn't seen them yet. Multiple bullet/thorns in a spray pattern. Far away enough, you can dodge between them. But they still close off paths that you might've been using to lure enemies away. And there's the problem of running out of space to run.

Hate devilites. Hate them with all your guts. That chair they throw is no joke in T3. I literally can get 2 shotted if I have less than the base armour health of ashtails. I just need to upgrade my spike shower into a dbb...

@Scrypilow Yeah, I think Bromon is only semi active now. I'm friends with most of the active guildmates, but I left because I was trying to find a guild that does lots of boss runs....Still looking for one, actually. Maybe I'll ask around on the forums.....Oh yeah, by the way, what's your in game name?

@Demonicsothe Lol I don't charge my faust, no worries there. Piercing is epic for me against anything that isnt a slime or a construct. No, I've gotten T3 clearance sometime ago, and yeah, those turrets are annoying, I usually aim for them ASAP lol. I haven't really seen all of the T3 monsters yet, I've still got Fiend and Swarm to go. Just did my fourth(or was it fifth?) FSC run, beating Vanaduke for the first time with another 4* player and a 5* player. I have to say, the T3 Rocket Pup in FSC looks scary.... o.o

Me and that puppy are best

Me and that puppy are best friends. I ignore it, and it ignores me. You can go around clockwise in that room by throwing shock vials at zombies at are near the ghost block. The shock damage tick is aoe, and will trigger the ghost block. You can also do this with a pulsar. Just remember to lure the zombies in the bottom out before you start going around.

What's your gear now? It has been awhile sice you created this thread, and I'm curious.

So, if you go clockwise the puppy will ignore you? i saw someone gunning at it with a polaris non-stop, which seems to work too. First time I saw the puppy was when a crazy rocket was obsessed with getting through the entrance forcefield. o.o

My gear? Still full of 3 and 4 star equipment, I really have to start saving up sometime.
Ash Tail Coat+Cap (aiming for Snarby set)
Avenger(I kinda want to upgrade this soon, the charge seems invaluable and I plan onspamming FSC)
Faust(considering getting nightblade instead, faust doesn't seem all that good except for jk runs and ld for me(personal opinion))
Twisted Snarble Barb(soon to be dark thorn blade for fsc trojans)
Kilowatt Pulsar(So useful for me, I'm considering upgrading this as well)
Dark Thorn Shield(I think I'll leave upgrading this for later, might upgrade my owlite instead)
And various other bits and pieces....

Right now, my main dilema is not knowing whether to get kilowatt and dtb or just DA lol

EDIT: Just got my Dark Thorn Blade, guess I'll use DTB and Avenger as my default loadout then. What's "Legacy Username" and f2p?

@Nubskills

"So, if you go clockwise the puppy will ignore you?"
So long as you don't enter the bottom section, where the puppy can see you and wake up.

"i saw someone gunning at it with a polaris non-stop, which seems to work too. "
Polaris' expanded shot interrupts. By spamming it you can easily stop that puppy from firing a single rocket. Then you pass through the bottom section before it is respawned. That's how I solo that room.

"Ash Tail Coat+Cap (aiming for Snarby set)"
Better get Vog or Skolver first... you probably need 5* armor to do Shadow Lair.

"Avenger(I kinda want to upgrade this soon, the charge seems invaluable and I plan onspamming FSC)"
If you are just looking for knockback, the elemental Brandishes work just as great. You can even use Combuster in FSC - you lose the fire DPS, but the elemental damage and unidirectional knockback work great against the swarms of undead. DA has the problem that you cannot have your back close to a wall when you fire the charge attack, or the blades will be sucked backwards. In FSC some rooms are pretty crowded, so you may need to practice a bit about that.

The heavy swords are not used just for their charge attacks - the wide swing and knockback are just as useful, after you learn how to wield it. It works great for me in Skolver, it works even better with Vog (ASI).

"Faust(considering getting nightblade instead, faust doesn't seem all that good except for jk runs and ld for me(personal opinion))"
This is the same problem - 2 vs 3-swings swords - it's up to personal preference. Gran Faust can curse though... before the alpha wolver nerf and getting a Combuster, curse is my preferred way to deal with them.

DTB and Avenger is perfectly

DTB and Avenger is perfectly fine, but as always, I advise you to take at least a weapon slot. It's definitely worth it if you use your mist every day.

Legacy Username means it's an old account, more or less.

f2p means free to play, someone who doesn't use ANY irl money for the game.

As for your gear, be careful, you're probably not going to do UGWW before being full 5* or almost, so it's not a good idea to plan on Snarby set. Considering you use Avenger, getting a Vog Cub part at least would help you for both FSC (fire resist) and Avenger handling (ASI).

The rest is ok, but you may want to get an Owlite to 4* to start FSC. DTS is good, but it breaks very fast in FSC (for the record, even the 5* one can't take a Vana mace without breaking).
