Embrace the Dark: STORY DESIGN HELP [repurposed thread]
Pow, I'm going to ask you seriously. Have you ever laid eyes upon that beautiful "Edit" button? Ever?
Oh, and third page. :D
Do Knights Bleed? Should they?
you'v all seen downed knights they spue out heat.
how volger? Try not to other wise you could be band & this thred is too youg and too epic to die young.
Yes, Knights should have blood in the same color as their personal color and everyone who is sympathetic or popular with the readers should be bumped off in the most horrific way possible and leave a nice paintjob everywhere
Cursing should be a thing but should be used in moderation. Restrict it's use to where it is most effective, like stuff getting real. Or use it to show us just how much of a crab a certain character is.
No, I am not channeling the spirit of Andrew Hussie.
Five more clockwork environments:

clockworks_large (1) - Preview Image
clockworks_large (2) - Preview Image
excellent, I can make use of these right away already :D
mostly technical things like scene creation or character design (ex. custom textures, weapons, etc), possibly help with story boarding in the future.
Oh, the monsters should bleed out with the colour of the damage they deal (Beasts and Slimes Yellow, Constructs and Gremlins Green, Fiends and Undead Purple andthe Swarm black(I think they should bleed black) and yes, decapitations would look AWESOME.
@Powpowpowpowpowpow your comments=INSIGHNIFACENT. also your up to say enything arnt you
Aiming to complete a fairly large environment pack this weekend, which should include a variety of Haven and Sky Island settings (plus a few specialized bits which may or may not be useful).
Posting so I can't procrastinate.
@Everyone
Would someone mind telling me how save custom textures after I'm done Editing them? I'm using GIMP and I'm comfortable with editing, but I just need to know how to save them so I can use them without spiral-spy crashing on me. :L
@Happyapathy
Could you give me a little more detail on how set a character's head as a free-floating model or whatever you called it? Here's how I'm currently dealing with a character with helmet attachments that needs a head-turn for a particular pose: create the basic model; clear the head; create another model with the helmet, attachments, etc.; and clear the ARMOR on that one and reposition it as the helm for the armor with the cleared head.
Also, are all of your custom guns based off the proto gun file? As it stands that is the only gun model I've found that permits attachments.
Thanks.
Alright, Here's some blanks I made. I hope you can use 'em. You said you needed some Haven ones so with the exception of the first that's what these are They get easier and faster with each one I make so hopefully this'll be the start of a nice supply of work. Please let me know what needs to be improved upon.
P.s. You may want to rename them. :P
Four Haven settings. Was aiming for more, but producing satisfactory Haven settings took much longer than predicted.
Sorry. I'm lazy.
I will say this though, these are big levels. They don't have more than 80 tiles though. I blew up things like the floor tiles to 6.00.
@Bulby
The thing with the armor is best explained in-person, I'll tell you next time I see you in game. As for guns I find that the Autogun, Needler, Pulsar/Catalyzer, and Callahan (NOT magnus) models work quite well for basing guns off of.
I'm in the middle of making a scene so I will check out your scenes when I'm done with the one I'm working on.
@Smashcraft
Those are beautiful :D, I will definitely be using them sometime.
@Happy
How do you get Spiral Spy working with Steam? Once I find out, you might just nickname me *The Scene Dev*.
not you agen burn in sailt you jelly bellyed troll.
Okay Pow here's what you do,
1. Find the Spiral Knights game folder
2. Take the whole folder AND the Spiral Spy program and place them both in the recycle bin
3. Empty the recycle bin
4. You might be thinking "but that will delete the game!", not true, somewhere along the way to a temporary holding space the two programs get jumbled up into a single program that you can use to make scenes with
5. Go to your C Drive and find the programs folder, look for a folder labeled "Spiral Knights Editor"
6. If your having trouble finding this folder try deleting other folders in the C Drive to clear up any clutter it may be mixed with
Happy scene making
But, my recycle bin deletes immediately.
Anything you want in particular?
I'm gonna get working on something, just wanna know if there is a certain kinda place i should work on, or if its just whatever...
I'm somewhere in the moderate area in SS workings...

Will be unable to produce environments for the next couple months. Crunch time for studies. Hopefully other users will pull through if you need any.
@Happyapathy, this might sound pretty stupid but I've been trying to make a few scenes and I'm wondering if there's a faster way to make flooring than making a new model for each tile?
Thanks, Az
Sorry dude that's how it's done. You can expand the tiles a bit though so that you need less of them.
While I'm downright awful at using SpiralSpy, I would really like to help with storyboarding as it's least I can do. I don't really expect you to accept my help, Happyapathy, but writing stories is what I do on at least a decent level. I already have some little expirience with it, as I used to make some (Awful ones) for some Team Fortress 2 webcomic.
So do you still need environments, Happyapathy? I'm almost finished with a Clockworks one if you're interested.
hey happy try not to go too overboard with gore, theres a line between seriousness and stuff tht will just make ppl laugh because its so over the top.
Oh and how about thought bubbles? you could make the characters have more personality by using thought
@windsickle
Any and all environments I could make use of are welcome, please do post it.
@varsian
I don't plan to do anything like decapitation or dismemberment if that's what you mean, as for thought bubbles I haven't had an opportunity where using one would be useful, not that I won't use them
when i download spiral spy it says place in spiral knights directory what does that mean please tell me
Yeah..where do you put spiral spy jar thingy, when you use non steam spiral knights windows 7 program files x86 (not sure if 64 ill check tomorrow)
Here's what I did (and what you really should do to avoid screwing things up)
1. Find the "spiral knights" folder where ever it is, steam or no steam, the one that has the 'rsrc' folder in it
2. select the "spiral knights" folder and copy it
3. Go somewhere convenient like My Documents or where ever
4. Paste the folder there (ALL OF IT) and rename it Spiral Spy
5. Place the spiralspy-1.2.jar file in that folder
6. Everytime the game gets updated grab the 'rsrc' folder from the main game folder and overwrite the 'rsrc' folder in your Spiral Spy folder
The Spiral Spy program should automatically work out of the new Spiral Spy folder you made and not the Spiral Knights game folder
If this works tell me so I put these instructions in my Spiral Spy Scenes thread and people can stop asking this question :P
YES. Knights should bleed. The color should be whatever their personal color is.
Hey Apathy what Program did you use to crop? And chat bubble?
Smash craft yours was good Why did you delete them? :C
I didn't - Mediafire must have auto-purged the files, or something. Still have them, although due to texture issues in Spiral-Spy, I doubt they're usable.

I think they should bleed, but in a lightish blue.
