you could add a CE checkbox on the price upload and if that box is checked it adds CE to the end of the price amount. though i dont know how that would work in a coding sense.
[TOOL] 3rd-party Buying/Selling Site - clockworkmarket.com
This is EXACTLY the kind of resource I was looking for .... prices will never stabilize in any kind of consistent way until some sort of statistical sampling of recent transactions comes into play. This makes things easier on me -- thanks to whoever is behind this!
I'll try to spread the word. Let's keep this thread up.
One suggestion I do have that would basically make things easy mode -- have a "recipe" option, in which you can select a certain piece of equipment, and automatically have a table pulled up that lists all the materials that go into the item, along with their most recent transaction value. If you could even make an expandable option that would also kind of indent and show the mats of necessary previous version of equipment (which I know would get very complicated to implement, but would be awesome all the same), that would just be incredible. If it were possible, it would make valuing a premade a very simple matter for everyone.
I kind of petered out doing the data entry for star ratings, so I don't think I have the patience to manually enter recipes in. I'll program for fun in my free time, but I don't think I'll do data entry. If someone wants to send me a CSV file or other delimited file with this data, I'll do something about incorporating it.
this might be as simple as adding some text, no programming required:
on multiple quantity buys, or multiple quantity sells, some people are posting total price, some are posting per-item. it'd be nice if there was a standard between the two.
it's a great tool! thanks for posting
Perhaps instead of signifying which UV it is, there could be a UV column that would just read "Yes" or "No". If someone was looking for a certain kind of UV, they would just need to contact the player that is selling it and find out which kind it is.
@ yen I only see 1 instance of this (with gel drops) so i dont think its really a widespread problem (just someone being stupid)
On a sidenote, im starting to get sales from the site, so Yay. and for the most part people arent undercutting stupidly. so the prices are remaining stable
Amazing tool. I had been searching for a certain recipe for almost two days and in less than half an hour I found someone with my needed recipe.
The site is great!
the best part is that most of the prices are reasonable as apposed to people in haven trying to buy 3 star weapons for 2k crowns and people selling 3 star weapons for 50k crowns
This is AMAZING. Everyone should tip the guy some anytime this helps you sell/buy for a good price.
If this had like a seperate page for CE/CR and CR/CE would be LEGENDARY. If it gets big you should charge a couple hundred CR to list on the CE/CR board because you'll be saving 2% which is usually ~100 a pop in the normal market.
Great job with this. I'll add my stuff tomorrow.
I'm not interested in facilitating CE/crown conversions, as there's a perfectly good in-game market for that already.
The issue with adding the CE capability is comparison, sorting and record-keeping. I have no idea how to sort a column of prices in both CE and crowns, or how to keep track which is the lowest price. I'm leaning toward either denominating all 5-star pre-mades in CE or leaving everything in crowns and letting folks sort it out on their own.
I can see adding a UV column alongside those for regular items. I'll try to figure out whether I want a checkbox, a pre-populated pulldown or a freeform text field. Is the list of possible UVs known? Is it short? (Can you tell I don't do many high-value transactions?)
for UVs, you could just add a "yes/no" menu and an editable box if "yes" for people to type it out. not everything has to be a drop down menu, after all, and that way people searching for a particular UV could just search the "yeses".
also, for recipes, maybe you could just link to the wiki page for it. the information is already posted online, after all.
You could do two selects for CE and crown based listings, then post crowns and CE sorted on the page in two sections (top crowns, bottom CE). This has the added bonus of allowing you to do two sorted lists, and with a simple boolean for "CE?" you can save space on figuring out which is which. Act now for the two for one deal of using the same select statement for both tables with a simple change of FALSE to TRUE.
"I'm not interested in facilitating CE/crown conversions, as there's a perfectly good in-game market for that already."
Yeah but if you wanted to convert 1k CE into crowns you'd end up paying ~1k crowns. Which goes to... nothing?
I love this resource -though I actually have yet to use it- and I'd be happy to hash out the recipe data! Is there any particular format you want it in? (just itemname, mat, count, mat, count, etc ?) Do you want some sort of IDs with the mat and item names? It seems you've already assigned everything an ID with your select boxes.
As for suggestions, aside from the usual UV and CE listing requests, I'd love to see statistics on item posting histories. But I guess that would be much further down the road.
Also I could see this going well with a CE conversion rate tracker. It would have to be based on player reports, but I think that could still have decent reliability. Though I guess most people have the game open while using the site. Then again, there are those of us who might browse item listings at work or school...
Anyway let me know about the data columns. I'll get started after my energy runs out. ;)
Giving this a bump since I just made a sale through it =)
I don't know why I couldn't Post, but at least I can try and browse for people buying stuff when i'm down at vendors
i wonder how likely it is for somebody to go to clockworkmarket.com if i tell them to. anyway, heres another suggestion to add to the list: you should have a thingy that says the current average price of an item. for example if over 2 weeks 9 people sell green shards and they price them at 50, 45, 60, 75, 100, 50, 50, 45, and 70 crowns each it would say the average price of a green shard is 60 crowns.
Had someone make a purchase by mail from this site earlier today, that was kinda cool. But it was for a whole 300 cr worth of materials, and he didn't include the mail fee!
Please buyers, if you are going to purchase via mail, include an extra 100 to cover our costs sending the item back to you, or make a purchase large enough that 100 cr just doesn't matter any more :)
i think that was me but i sent the 100 afterward (i think) it just didnt really occur to me that there even was a fee for attachments i thought it was always 25 to send mail. i dont see the point in any fee to send mail in a video game. i dont pay 25 cents every time i wanna send an email. maybe thats why i got interupted because of a server update while i was practicing my spanish (server 75). tengo una tortuga de mascota
Just added a bunch of my stuff - love this site :D!
I got distracted and made a gif to replace your grey gear if you like it:
http://oi56.tinypic.com/126clea.jpg
This is a great resource, I just moved a bunch of materials thanks to it.
Would you please add the ability to edit quantities? I sell almost exclusively in bulk and it helps to keep things accurate.
Thank you very much for your work.
This site looks very useful.
I've noticed that when people put up multiple items of the same kind up for trade, it's ambigous whether the price tag is referring to one item, or the whole batch. I would suggest splitting the price field into something like "Price (each)" and "Price (total)". This has another benefit besides eliminating the ambiguity: one could put up, say 5 Swordstones and say there is a discount if someone buys all five.
Keep up the good work!
Bumping again for more exposure. Just sold another Cutter using the site!
Bleary, the list of possible unique variants is pretty simple. Essentially, weapons gain a bonus to attack speed, charge speed, or damage vs 1 monster family. Armors gain protection vs 1 type of status OR damage type... the variant you get is filled in mad-lib style.
See http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Unique_variant for details.
Note that some of the "size of variant" adjectives have changed. I THINK that the current list is: Low/Medium/High/Very High/ Maximum!
And incidentally, I really like the work you've done so far. This is a great tool for the community. If you ever need anything, I'll be glad to provide you whatever materials I can at no charge. (If I have it, it's yours)... just be sure to post your in-game name in the forums somewhere so I know it's really you.
With the trade chat channel blowing up recently, this has been a fantastic tool. I can only hope they implement some sort of auction house or store system soon, but while there's nothing in-game this really helps out a lot.
The mail system is awkward and expensive, so I prefer to do business through friend requests. I'm not sure if this would be too much hassle, but it would be awesome to have a contact column that you can specify with the listing ("mail"/"friend request"/"pm"/"any" ...or something like that) and possibly a reminder somewhere on the website itself that it is courteous of the buyer to include 100cr for mail fees if doing business that way.
Thanks for your hard work, Bleary. And if any of you clockworkmarket users want to check out Creeper's stock (or just hang and chat :D) I can usually be found in Haven 5 at the very east end of the arcade. I like idling there while I work.
how are you authorizing IGNs on your site? I can't "login" to remove a posting
now with trade spanning all channels we need this now more than ever
Thank the heavens I can leave /2 without giving up all chance of moving my items now.
Three thoughts:
1. I'd like to be able to sort by star level first, and name within star level.
2. For crowns/crystal energy conversions: Allow people to specify the price however they want (This item is 100 crystal energy; that item is 2495 crowns). When browsing the site, you list what you consider the price exchange to be.
Specify a separate buy and sell price -- so I can, for example, say "I consider buying 100 CE to cost me 4100 CR, but I can sell 100 CE for 4200 CR". Or not -- right now it's so close to the 2% cost that there isn't much to make in trading.
Different people will put in different amounts. The actual amount does change over time. Maybe someone says "I can get this rate if I wait overnight" and wants to see how that affects their prices.
3. I just checked "Beast scales". Got a nice listing sorted by total price. Yet the number of units ranged from 1 to 80, making the price per unit -- what I care about -- not obvious.
Nor could I figure out how to sort by date -- I'm assuming that the price will adjust over time as things stabilize.
I've implemented UV in what is probably a half-assed way.
I'm getting "AUTH FAIL" when trying to login with my ign.
A problem with dynamic IPs maybe?
Yeah. This wouldn't work great with dynamic IPs. Contact me in-game if you're having this problem. IGN: underscored.
Someone is using my name
AllShamNoWow
and people have been pming me about it.
can someone change that?
there should be a password system for it so nobody can cancel stuff you're trying to sell (if somebody is that terribly mean)
Small bug report:
- Logging in with (name in lowercase) shows my offers, but doesn't let me edit them
- Logging in with (name in correct case, as used previously) shows my offers AND lets me edit them
Unexpectedly complex behavior.
Also, per banana's comment: I tested the report, and it does indeed seem that offers are linked to IP addresses. I tried to "log in" as several people, but just the username wasn't enough. Instead of going by [dynamic] IP, why not use, say, cookies?
EDIT: Problem fixed =D
Why not use cookies? Because I can't use cookies. I never learned how!
Well, time to learn how to cook them then ¿?
Not really know how they would solve the problem though.
I think a simple password would be enough.
You didn't like my golden crown/gear gif? lol
do you actually not know what kind of cookie they're talking about or r u joking
As for cooking cookies, it's a joke.
As for how they might not solve the problem, I'm serious.
Hmmm, any time I do something it says site is unavailable. (may or may not have been mentioned, I just didn't feel like going through 92 posts)
The issue with passwords was that it seems difficult to verify that people are who they register as. Malicious players could just sign up for a bunch of usernames and block those people out. I don't think this would be a major problem, but adding registration and login is not insignificant work. Meanwhile using cookies alone is meh: cookies are generally easy to fabricate (with unencrypted) or annoying to set up (with encrypted). Not to mention how would one renew an expired or lost cookie? You have no account to login with and re-set it.
@bleary - I did finish the CSV database of recipes. Granted I don't know if you want to work on a major addition now that the devs announced auction house is coming eventually. Do you intend to keep tending your site after the big update?
Either way I intend to use my newly-made database to make a reference for the cumulative mats needed in given crafting chains. (Like say I have a Great Defender; how many mats to get to Aegis?) Might be nice to have.
Can someone IP ban "Pinto" and delete his spam? He's clearly trolling (check mats). Thanks.
I'll let Pinto defend his/her own actions. I chatted with Pinto briefly in-game, and I didn't get the sense that trolling or spam was going on, merely a lot of lowball bidding. I might consider adding some code to limit the bid/ask spread to reasonable levels, if I had any idea what a reasonable level was or felt like doing it would actually solve a problem.
Ecliptic, if you want to send me the CSV file, I'll take a look and start thinking about what I can do with it. underscored@clockworkmarket.com.
Since there's no way to verify in-game identity, any auth scheme I use is going to be deeply and inherently flawed. I'll continue thinking about ways to improve it, but if everyone could refrain from pretending to be other people, that would be a real help.
You're kidding me, right? He's got buys of 1000 of an item for 1 CR, 5 CR, 8 Cr, etc. Whatever he told you is a lie. Just IP ban him.
Firstly, I'm not particularly interested in policing bidding behavior, as that would make a thankless job even more thankless. Secondly, what criteria should I use for determining which bids are not serious? Do I believe Pinto when he says that he'll buy up to 1000 Gremlin Gizmos at 5 crowns each. Yes. Do I think many people will take him up on that? No.
He told me that he's trying to inject some liquidity into the market and get some speculation going. He said he hoped to be outbid, and was just entering in a floor price. I'd feel better about it if he had also posted a "sell" offer for everything he was offering to "buy". But again, I really don't feel like trying to be the market police, especially since I already have a day job.
I could add some code indicating that 5-star items (and not recipes or mats?) are denominated in CE. I'll think about this.
