Hey,
So I figured I'd try something different and ask about other colorblind players out there and their experience with the game.

I'm red-green colorblind, and while I don't have issues discerning potions, I do have problems telling between 'cyan' captured points and uncaptured points in PVP (well, for that matter, anywhere in the game, but PVP is where it actually makes a difference for me).

I sometimes have issues telling between the green/yellow minerals in-game, but that hasn't been an issue for me since Project uJelly and the patch that kind of half-killed the campaign lol.

In all honesty, I made this post to raise more support for my PVP suggestion thread, but obviously since it's been months since that suggestion was made (and so far 100% positive support from other posters), it's indicating to me that:
1) Suggestion threads aren't read
2) Colorblind players must be seen as a low-impact minority in-game.
jk

but really, are there any other colorblind players out there? got anything to share? :3

are we just the 1% here? ;v

I'm sure all the suggestions that devs read are "considered", depends if the idea is good or not. Of course bad ideas are just thrown out of the window and then smashed with a hammer.

I really want to see some options for colorblind people. I support this idea.

colorblind mode isn't exactly

colorblind mode isn't exactly rocket science so i don't know why they haven't bothered yet. it'd be a lot of work to go through the game and analyze things to figure out what needs to be altered, but i definitely wouldn't call it DIFFICULT -- simply include an option to have the engine hue-shift some textures so that no important UI elements are distinguished by being green vs red (vs orange vs yellow)

it might make some of the game appear garish, might end up with colors assigned to things that don't fit common RPG schemas (EG poison may no longer be 'green'), or might just make things look bad

BUT this could be very important for 5% or more of the playerbase -- possibly having greater impact than even, say, adding support for another language (like portugese)

on awareness

@Axonio
:P both those numbered statements were pointy jokes. People do seem to call the Suggestions forum the second graveyard lol.

@Benamas
Well, that's part of the thread- colorblindness (even of the same 'kind') has very different levels of effects. The threads complaining about potion colors were also from red-green colorblind people, but I don't have too much of an issue telling between the fire/poison vials (...on my LCD screen - I'd probably be screwed otherwise).

If there are other colorblind players out there, maybe they can help point things out, too.
Another one that sort of gets me is the yellow/green player colors. I can't really see the difference between those (I only notice when people cheer/congratulate insert-teamcolor-here). I don't remember if yellow vs green ever happens in PVP though, but since I don't seem to have any emotion related to that, probably not.

I definitely agree with you

I definitely agree with you about the uncaptured points and cyan points for Lockdown. It's something that I can't tell the difference with at all being color-blind myself.

For reference:

Now, capped point markers on the floors are usually outlined bold, and neutral point markers are not bolded. But here's the thing: I only found this out while making the above image. I'd never notice this in game.
(edit: I now notice that the minimap markers are the same with cyan and neutral. sorry)

While the game needs difficulty, there's many, many areas where it shouldn't make things difficult for players.

While I bring up the topic of lockdown briefly, I'm just going to say I don't mind paying 5 of any tokens for 1 krogmo coin.

Seiran, does the three look the same to you? No offence.

oh

none taken - my friends do this stuff all the time lol - it's no problem.

If the image was made using something to try to emulate colorblindness, it's not really all too accurate.
I gotta say though, the deuteranope image actually helps me see a difference between the cap points - 1 is 'whiter' (uncapped?) and 2/4 are more bluish.

the team 2 colors are drastically different between all 3 images.

Edit: Are there any status vials which looks quite similar but you can still tell apart? http://wiki.spiralknights.com/Pickups

O_o

I can't recognize Team 2 as 'red' in that second pic (all the red looks charred XD), and can't easily tell between capped/uncapped on the map.

--

For the status vials, seeing them against each other, I can tell them apart just fine. If I had to pick one up, I MIGHT confuse between either poison-fire or fire-stun, depending on the rest of the image, but it's not so likely for me now since I've got months of SK gameplay in mind lol.

I habitually use context to 'nail down' colors - ex: if someone's wearing a blue or purple and it's a guy, it's more than likely blue. If I'm in a fire stage, it's more than likely going to be a fire vial. If I'm looking at a plant in the summer and someone asks me what color the leaves are, it's probably green (seriously, I get this all the time when people first find out I'm red-green colorblind LOL).

Concerning cyan and

Concerning cyan and uncaptured points, it's not the actual capture points on the floor that give me a problem (it's easy to tell the difference in those by just standing on top of it), it's the points shown on the minimap that really gives me trouble.
