Everyone

Let me just explain something:
This is a small company putting out a patch for a free game to improve the gameplay. When they don't compensate you for trying to fix mechanics in the game, you complain?

Just think about it for a second. You should be thanking them for the patch rather than complaining about the compensation you are getting, when in my opinion, they do not owe anyone- any form of compensation. We are very lucky to receive this game, and it's updates, for free.

I am a bit disappoint

To be honest, the promise of a new Rescue Camp remake was inviting. The fact that I am incapable of replaying these older missions sucks when I can replay any other depth mission. Am disappoint. :I

The 4 hour elevator pass or 2 hour or whatever is a great idea.

I'm one of those people - despite being on the East Coast - who cannot play during this time. I have to leave now after waiting two hours, so assuming the half price elevators last that long, I won't take advantage of it.

I support that idea

So. After completing the mission to go to Haven, you get sent back to the camp. Brilliant. I kinda feel sorry for OOO. Having so many issues with this patch.

That said, I think the new tutorial is a step above what was before. This one goes over bombing and arsenal stations in detail, and I love the perspective shift on the way to the rescue camp from the pod where it sweeps up to show off the inner workings of the planet. Really pounding home that the entire place is mechanical.

Now I'm gonna scour Haven and see if I can find Rhendon. Here's hoping he plays some part is more missions. I'd like to see him at the Vanguard promotion ceremony, if he isn't there already.

I actually don't mind this patch at all. A lot of useful things being fixed and added.

What I question is... isn't the polaris strong enough already? Can you guys fix this. I am at max shock and I still get a tick or two of shock states and a knockback and blinding screen every time i encounter a polaris in game.

I hope you guys are looking at fixing that.

I also saw heatsurge mentioning taking damage away from swords, I can agree with that. All the weapons types need to be around the same in a way. Still useful in their own individual ways but the need to get more inline with each other.

Good patch.

Stuff so far not in the list of changes:

1) Cosmetic changes to Haven.

2) Blitz charges no longer register as being effective against Vana, but that's fine as it does more damage now anyway (230-ish per hit with a med damage bonus instead of just over 200 with same).

Has anyone seen anything else?

Also, I'm disappointed that I can't play the new mission without making a new knight. :( And I seem to be having serious lag issues that weren't there yesterday. Not sure why.

What the heck people?

WTF? I saw the patch notes and was practically spinning in my chair with glee! Then I read through about 3 pages worth of backlash against OOO!

People have been complaining about game balance for as long as I can remember. Guns and bombs got MASSIVE buffs... But NOOOO! Almost everyone ignores that and pounds on OOO for not releasing another boss or something.

What happened to the Hail Driver? Why can't I do my 204+??+76x5 damage on the Trojans anymore?!? My charge attack is useless!!! It's just doing 204...I can't solo Lord Vanaduke anymore now... nooooo!!! & just when i helped out my friend craft hers so we can do token farming.... T__T

Its more on the subject that we aren't allowed to play these new Rescue Camp missions and the RJP crown nerf really. The weapon buffs are acceptable by the players. We just want to experience what the newbies are getting too.

Just letting you know.. that extra 20% damage on gun's charge? Boosted the Neutralizers damage all the way to 9 damage.

Kitty - are you sure you're aiming it right? My magma driver still does multiple hits on one target if I'm careful. (And how in the world did you manage to land all the hits on one trojan in the first place?)

i've been hitting the trojan

i've been hitting the trojan with a direct freeze hit & it's not doing my "auto-gun" atttack, it's just doing the charge attack. The freeze hits add like 76x5 damage with the charge attack hit. I don't know if it's the frames moving slowly & me lagging a bit or the gun just got fixed.

Well... it kinda had to be done if you think about it. The Rescue Camp before was rather bland. The better early game is, the more appealing the game is to newer players. I still remember how much frustration I went through just to figure out what to do during tier 1. If a veteran player wants to experience the newer content, they can just make another character.

The RJP nerf I can somewhat understand... But at the same time, people already have found out that "balancing" means "100 less crowns per run."

Also, how come no one has commented on the new character selection? My client just finished patching... and I absolutely love the small little touches they added to the char selection :D

We all know OOO is currently a small team, Nick...

But since your ten year journey of being an independent company has ended due to SEGA's acquisition, why not just hire a couple more people to help more on Spiral Knights and/or current and future products? A few more hired people, a little more new content could get done a bit quick, while tending to small updates at the same time. Besides, your team cannot stay small forever. I'm just saying. It might happen sooner or later. I mean, you guys and girls got so much on your hands, it would be a bit much for a small team to handle, unless you hire more people.

i don't think it was a glitch. it still does that extra damage but in weirder angles. & it only works on big mobs. I'll have to see how it does on vanaduke to confirm this change or not.

Seriously, best update in a long while; first of all, it should help to get some new knights to stay a little bit more. It hasn't proven to be incredibly greedy in any way yet either, and has given something small for the existing knights- huge weapon buffs for guns and bombs.

The ONLY thing that it messed up was on accident- Valiance doesn't push things back, and Neutralizer/Biohazard's charges are messed up.

The thing with Drivers

Shooting a charge shot on a mob at point blank will usually end up with all split bullets striking the target. With larger targets, you don't have to be so close.

So...

So, why can't we old time players do the rescue camp mission if they are missions and you don't step into the rescue camp? I mean, is like any other map, why aren't we allowed to "retry" those missions? o_ou

It is even funnier that when I put the game on, it told me the awesomeness of the new mission... which I can't do... xD

Fast edit: Is that Comlink mission the problem? You could just return us after the mission if we have to "get shown around" Rescue Camp, I doubt the server blows up... : P

R u guys kidding me? How is guns doing the same dmg as swords fair? the "PLUS" for guns is that they hav mobility, they can shoot from far away and be safe, wats the point of swords if u can do same dmg and virtually never get scratched as a gunner?
Gun dmg increase = OP
Bomb dmg increase = Nitronome/Dark briar barriage/Big Angry Bomb spam = LAG
That about sums it up, feel free to twist wat I say to something I didnt mean and shove it in my face :)

Then you just "join" someone in Haven from Guild/Friend list or submit a Support ticket for a GM to teleport you and wait for next patch to solve the issue... : P I still don't see the problem.

People went to Rescue Camp by joining new players before that way. And came back by crossing the chasm.

Tell me when OOO actually treats Lockdown for the cash cow that it is, and actually features an update for it.

Lockdown is a great concept and is extremely addictive with a gamepad. It's a shame there aren't many games like it out on the market, otherwise I'd be playing them instead of Spiral Knights.

edit: Also, I hate how OOO succumbs to pressure from playerbase. Instead of working on things to legitimately balance the game (Seriously, you release an item, then you nerf it a week later because of complaints? RIP Dark Retribution. You honestly didn't see this coming before implementation?) you just skim the suggestions board for God knows what and try to appease the biggest whiners. Finally gunner entitlement pays off, you guys got what you wanted and if you complain about gun damage at this point, then you just need to stop playing.

OOO doesn't need to rebalance anything, OOO needs to focus on creating new content. At least DEVcat and Wizet actually balance cosmetic updates with actual content and make balances to accommodate changes in the player environment, instead of trying to keep whatever players they have left by making their LOLCOWBOY dreams a reality.

I'm willing to forget all of these mistakes if they just accept that the only feature of SK that has any re-playability whatsoever is Lockdown. Feature a Lockdown update for the summer, introduce new 5cp maps or streamline the joining process with a private match feature. How about Lockdown medals? Achievements? Cosmetic gear? A dueling feature for 1v1?

Don't ignore what has been staring you in the face all this time. Lockdown is the only redeeming feature this game has for anyone old enough to hold a job.

btw, creating a new knight to play the new intro missions takes like 15 minutes (including doing the misions) not sure why is such a big deal that we can't replay those missions with other knights, it's not like they give AWESOME rewards, and the prestige amount is negligible.

Bad enough I couldn't log on to the game last night but it wouldn't even log me onto the forums. :\ Whatever, opinions.

Visual changes and new arenas sound cool. Bomb damage increase makes sense since you can't exactly rapid fire them.

While the gun damage is useful for my loadouts, I'm not even sure they needed a blanket increase. Though I need to see increase just how much of a boost it is.

RJP payout nerf? I would have thought FSC would be the first target for any kind of nerf in that respect.

Retrodes didn't need a health nerf.

I guess nothing else really applies to me.

They made blitz way too powerful. I barely use my alchemer any more at fsc. Still a great update. Thank you OOO. =)
