I played this morning and had no problems with the game. I tried playing again after the patch, but could not. Not only was the lag unbearable, but I was disconnected. Worst of all, my entire laptop froze because of the conflict with Java that the game created. I've been playing for over a year and have never had a problem like this. I hope it gets fixed soon. Furthermore, the two people with whom I was playing were having the exact same problems.
June 6th patch notes discussion
why are the controllers not up again?
i'm very upset by this, it's been a few hours now.
I'm assuming the controller problem is actually tied to the java library issues they are having with this patch since the input library is managed by java. So while they have identified the problem it looks to be much bigger than just the controller issue - and not as quick as a fix.
Secret patched stuff =
Java
Your game will lag and freeze more as hell, even on Haven
That moment when I notice that SK is now using 1,500,000 KB of data. When under normal circumstances, it rarely ever goes above 300,000 KB for me..
Loving this patch, it was completely necessary to present us with slight cosmetic changes. It's a dang shame we can't get to any of it without having the client crashing.
It appears that something in the game is making SK's memory usage keep increasing more and more the longer the game is running
so basically...it's like if everyone had a timer on the game whenever it starts running (stronger computers have a larger timer) and after the timer goes past a certain point it starts lagging...and lagging more as it goes on...and probably after awhile it will crash, lol
everyone expects a quick fix I guess =w=...restarting the game solves the problem for awhile for now though
Not too long ago they did a patch for the extra ce and some people couldn't buy ce. Now they do a patch for minor changes and most seem unable to play without lag.
Hmm.
Holy crud, I just crashed in Jelly Kings palace. I don't think that's ever happened before.
I can't find any of the stealth edits in Spiral Spy. Has anyone else checked?
This is new.............normally, they break weapons and interactive objects................this time they broke the game itself............clap clap :)
Wait... zombies dropped loot when rezed before!?
waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat
So why the "Zombies will now only drop loot on initial defeat. Rez'd zombies will drop nothing." ?
Old:
Zombies would drop loot only when killed outside of a totem's area of influence. So you would need to res it and kill it completely to get the farm.
Now:
Zombies will drop loot when first killed, you can leave them un-ressed since you won't lose out.
Cano, the ones that die and respawn because of the totem circle will drop their crowns/heat/mats/items when they die initially Instead of before where they dropped their crowns/heat/mats/items when they actually died.
I would love to see a successful SK update, without lag, glitched AH, or bugged energy depots causing consequences. Come on, OOO.
Seems like they need better version control - I expect this means that there will be some massive update in the future with regards to Java performance that got half pushed out today in this small patch and bugged everything.
When Boswick gets off lunch break to fix what he broke.
Extend my weapon and trinket slots and elevator pass by 1 day and for each day until this is fixed. Game is UNPLAYABLE. Everyone else should expect the same.
I found some stealth patches. One is future content, one is varients of old content, one is the most bizarre vanity item I've seen in this game, and three are Rings to the Elven-Kings under the sky.
@Duke About the future content: is it combat related? Perhaps the combat enhancements they've talked about? Or is it much more minor?
It's plot related and since this update has leaned towards FSC, I'll leave that hint and be done with (at least on a place as public as the forums).
your update has made atleast half the people in every haven dc PLEASE fix this i cant even play im going to quit and three other of my friends have already quit from a lack of attention to the horrible and frankly useless update.
Where's the offical translate team's workers???????
One day you'll wake up and realize that not every update ever has to be major patches or expansions and that almost every single MMO has bugs with every patch that get ironed out within a day. OOO's goal is obviously not to create Java lag for you to make quit the game, so stop acting like they're conspiring against you and acting like you will realistically leave any impact with your absence.
Yeah.
You guys broke something, because the lag that patch caused is ridiculous. Can't wait till the lag gets fixed and I can go enjoy the new art for the slag walkers. Not sure what was wrong with the old slag walkers, or why we need new ones though.
Other than that, the patch is alright. I like how it messed up the zombies- FSC will pay slightly less now, although it also kind of hurt the cr payouts on several other levels, like the one with the zombies and the slimes.
for some reason i get Disconected every 3 min or so.... its agrivateing. the lag is unbarable. excuse my spelling. but if its possible to fix i would really like that ^^ i just want to play my fav game.
I'm wondering if the time between patches will be added to my elevator pass.
Lagagagaagagagagal i hope we get some sort of compensation for this :/
love the update but the freezing is a pain mainly cause i just upgraded a bunch of stuff to 5 and 4 star and would like to heat them so i can upgrade them. hope its fixed soon.
Experiencing extreme lag.
In FSC. In JK. In Snarby. In arena depths. Even in haven when viewing the auction house.
This game is unplayable and broken in its current state. I would suggest adding time to all timed items - elevator pass, weapon/trinket slots, etc. Including time for items on the auction house - I paid crowns for that time, so that more people had more time to see my items. I want the lost time back.
Yeah, it's really laggy for me. I've already had times where the game just completely stops for me. It's laggy, even in the ready room. Please fix it fast.
You won't get compensation!
And there's nothing you can do about it!
Remember RT.
The Rescue Camp.
And this is NO exeption!
Now get on with your lives!
FYI: Test server just got updated. Hopefully the fix is effective and then the main server can be fixed.
The test server gets updated at the same time as the main server with the same content. The only time the test server gets anything unique is when they open it to the public.
This update definitely broke the game. Might be best if we simply reverted to the version before the patch, and let the issues get worked while the game is at least playable. There's really nothing vital in this patch, and it could likely be thrown away before being fixed.
I think this patch is setting up the next one with major content.
Also, from what I've heard about Devs responses to similar suggestions, is that reverting the servers isn't as easy as it seems.
ummm... why isn't the main client patched yet? it works perfect on test server now
Yeah, looks like they found and fixed the bug. The jittering and non-responsive controllers are both gone on the test server.
REVERSE THE UPDATE!REVERSE THE UPDATE!
Seriously OOO has broken the SK economy, now they broke the whole game.Hurray!
Mines going a bit slow but should only take 15 minutes IT SAYS
¬ Sppw
Was this patch even tested on the test server at all? You'd think given how blatant the problems are, someone would have discovered the bugs if proper testing had been in place.
It would appear that this is the most bug-riddled patch to date.
Although some of us are getting impatient, there isn't much else to do than wait.
@Thrillhaus: I've been think about that too. Wouldn't it be better to test the patch first, BEFORE doing it for 'real', then patching the minor errors that appear?
Possible issues:
-Test Server works differently, like the mist and other things. The Patch may break some things the test server doesn't make apparent.
-If it's player tested, that's new content that may be released prematurely, effectively ruining the 'surprise' should the patch have one.
Otherwise, I'm all for a test run of the patches first. Less rage that way.
Not sure why, given the disastrous technical issues, the devs didn't simply revert the patch at the first sign of trouble, and reissue it later when things have been fixed. I'm sure people would be a lot more understanding to having a new patch delayed than not being able to play at all. They're potentially turning off new players who signed up today to find an unplayable game.
Didn't cross their mind?
EDIT: Or perhaps they're going for trial and error, otherwise the patch wouldn't have had problems in the first place. They need to know what's wrong with it, right? So they released the patch, realized something's wrong, and to save time and future grief, keep patching it until it's better, as opposed to taking it out, putting it back in, realize something's not right, then repeat.
...
Something sounded so wrong about that last part...
/epicfail this patch
Come on three rings. You managed to screw up just a simple filler patch. The game is unplayable for me now. On top of my normal asian lag i now freeze every 3rd second.
why the game not support gamepad again???
i cannot play without gamepad,,,
