This is going to be pretty much a comparison between Puzzle Pirates(PP) a game also made by Three Rings(without Sega at the time) and Spiral Knights.

What should we bring in from Puzzle Pirates a game that ~used~ to be Three Rings flagship?

1.) Housing and customization/furnishing of that said 'housing', Here is the housing price chart from PP http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Housing as you can read there, they were nice enough to give players a shack for free! If you then click on each house you can see how lavish or craptastic each house was! Also you could select who could enter your house at any given time, crew mates(guildies), hearties(friends), or anyone!
Parties could also be thrown and they would appear in a section of PP's Notice Board, basically SK's Mission Board(?) and anyone could come to those!

The furnishing aspect of PP was quite diverse from the lavish gold statues to the worn-out bedroll. Additionally you got the ability to place this furniture in any segment it would fit. Portraits went on walls and Fireplaces and were only allowed on the floor of course, and there was no roof space that you could put anything so you could always see what you were doing similar to SK. Also you could purchase wardrobes to store clothes (PP has no binding system but a aging system instead) that other people could access but only if they were on the roommate list, they also had sword racks for swords and so on and so forth. Here's a link if you want to know more http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Furniture

2.) Tournaments with Crown and/or items to be won through Lockdown, Blastnetwork or some other game not yet added!
Puzzle Pirates was unique in it had a parlor game segment and that included games such as Texas Hold 'Em, Spades, hearts and treasure drop as well as a few others these games could be played with PoE(SK's Version of Crowns) and it added a lot of fun! If you got tired of playing them in their conventional format you could always host a Tournament!

These tournaments could be free to enter OR have a price tag attached for entry chosen by the Tournament creator, the tournament would have brackets and eventually a winner would be chosen and the pot would be divvied up by either Winner takes all or top 3 or cascading exponentially. Also if you created the tournament you could put in however many items you liked into either 1st,2nd or 3rd position. Now picture a tournament of Lockdown except instead the average 200 Crowns it had a entry fee of 500 crowns but you could win up to 10,000 crowns for most captured points, it would make things a lot more interesting! Also Texas Hold 'Em would make me cream my pants and Eurydice would love it! (she was O.o still is a puzzle pirate Ocean Master, we had long ?stalkerish? meaningful conversations).. just throwing that out More Info: http://yppedia.puzzlepirates.com/Tournament

Some background of PP(Puzzle Pirates) Official Release date:December 8, 2003, As of December 2008, there are 4 million pirates registered to the game whereas Spiral Knights recently crossed 3 million just last month I believe.

Housing was officially released in PP 2005-08-10 (September 10th, 2005) so they had quite a wait after the release!

PP has a system similar to Spiral Knights, instead of CE however they used Doubloons. Each Doubloon is worth around 2500 PoE whereas in SK every 100CE is worth 8,000 crowns. PoE stands for Pieces of Eight by the way.

Attempt at calculating a better understanding between CE and Dubs :D, PP: $9.95 nets you 42 dubs (and a promotional tub for your house but who cares)
SK: $9.95 nets you 3,500 CE
SO uh I divided 3,500 by 42 and decided that each Dub is the equivalent of 83.3333... just call it 83 CE .
Now lets see.. If Spiral Knights gets the housing equivalent of a Row House a Puzzle Pirate small yet somewhat roomy two story house it would cost the SK user: 20x83=1660CE for the CE cost alone (not counting the likelihood that there will be a crown cost as well) but it will be a lot cheaper then the Dub/CE cost if you go by PP's example.

Nick (a dev) has told us news of the future! with a update that will come on a currently unknown date that will include and I quote
''We take the need for active and relevant guilds seriously and are now turning our attention to this feature. This project will start with guilds having the ability to expand their halls, increase member limits, and furnish their guild halls. You'll even be able to purchase special features that benefit everyone in the guild! We also expect to expand guilds further in the future to bring a strategic aspect to guild play.''

Sega did little more than fund Spiral Knights.

Keep in mind this is not Puzzle Pirates. Keep this out of mind.

Housing has been discussed and defeated in the past because it would contradict with our presence on Cradle as alien guests. We are not supposed to settle down and take over.

Krogmo minigames already get you tokens which can be exchanged for special equipment, materials to make special equipment, and costumes. This point is invalid.

Do not mix the economies of two separate games. Unless we get Steam cross-game trading, it would set people up to be scammed very easily. Very easily. People like me could be rolling around on the floor and headbutt you in the kneecaps for giggles. I do that normally anyway, but do not allow other people to do the same; it would be too chaotic. Fortunately they have me in a cushioned room with a computer to smash my face on while in this straight jacket. They gave me a red one because white was too plain.

The last point has nothing to do with anything in this thread. This should and does take credit for the promised guild update.

Demanding responses tends to deter others because they think you are indirectly harassing them. Fortunately I left my sense of being intimidated in my childhood muzzle, but the one I am currently wearing has little bells on it. Jingle jingle.
