OOC: I thought that Glave was starting to name these bomberhead knights. XD It was actually kind of an interesting thing...now I get it though, so all good!
Also, of course I'd stay, despite my own forum inactivity...in many ways, I should be more inactive due to school starting up again. As my friend Xylka said once, "Once you've replied to a thread, you're committed to it until it's done, whether you want to think that or not." Hopefully, if we can continue this we should bring more people in...there may also be some who are still reading and just haven't replied yet. :)
Reply:
That may be a good plan...but, the cloaking seems to be effective for the time being. Maybe the reason Durod can avoid these knights is because they aren't really after him, per se? You seem to be the special one right now, just because you most likely are the only member of your squad not currrently possessed by the Swarm (although, we still have no idea what happened with Stiletto). If we use the knowledge that he attempted to give us earlier, we might be able to figure some things out...but, now that I think about it, he said he froze them up, yet Kris was obviously here. He may not have been as trustworthy as I'd like to think.
I think that our best plan...hm, wait. Just had a moment there. *(That of course I type out...hehe)* Do you know if that shard that Durod gave you has strong enough powers to deter the Swarm rather than simply harm it? We might be able to insert it into Kris somehow and get the Swarm shoved right out of him.
Opening Config-Print-Spool
Reply(Glave): Gah...this thing...you have forgotten already? Kris was the Guardian of my squad. He's no bombhead. As a matter of fact, I think I hear him smashing up some bombheaded knights as we speak. Acting like a bombhead would be soooo stupid if I were to do it in front of him. It seems like he hates them more than he hates me, regardless of if I have the bomb on or not. {Sighs} I wonder if maybe part of his sane self is still clinging on, so he somehow still has to smash anything that could be a threat to who he guards or who he once guarded.

Reply(Glave): Uh huh....yes, I'm happy I didn't believe him. Huh, it can do what? Um, dang I wish I could just catch him. Oh man...what if Durod IS an illusion? Maybe the first few times he wasn't, but what if he was swapped out with an illusion at one point? Ah! It's looking like it'll {Bang} woops....ow ow ow....this is why I never became a technician...my gosh! That, like really...ignore me. I just had a case of exploding camera in my face right there. Meh, I tried. I better not linger and errr....sorry back soon.
Command/Reply?
OOC: Due to the fact that I wouldn't know how to write out the command correctly (I'm not too technologically inclined), I'm extremely doubtful in typing it. >.< Even if it isn't a real command...well, I still feel nervous.
Reply:
Ok...I don't think Durod is an illusion. That'd be some pretty intensive circumstances, and what he was saying made sense in his context. I mean, illusions are self-provoked usually, unless we go with the conspiracy theory that the Swarm is basically controlling everything...including us. But, if we function from that type of paranoia, we won't get anywhere.
Hmm...do you happen to have any first aid applications with you? Or have those been used up already or prior to this part of your mission?
Reply(Glave): I'm aware that we can't be paranoid over everything. It's just hard not to be paranoid over somethings down here. Yeah...I do have some first-aid items with me...why? Hm...I wonder why my shadow hasn't attacked me recently...maybe I shouldn't talk about it. Oh shoot I better shut up now, 'cause they are coming.

Command/Reply?
In spiral spy, I can't find any hidden passage tilesets. Is this cause the tileset is hidden? (Pun intended)
OOC: Has anyone searched the terminal for "Bombhead"?
R: Sorry for being ignorant these days, I had some researches to do and did not bother helping yer way out. Is everything fine, I assume?
Reply:
I had thought of the first aid for the burn you got to your face, but I also just remembered that you have a mask on already...so, the first aid would thus become unusable at the current time.
But, anyways...who do you mean by "they", Glave? The bomberhead knights? Or is it Kris and his other amigos?
OOC: I think I'm going to try it...here goes nothing:
Command:
Config-Print-Spool {Log spool jobs=true}
OCC: Augh...I could have just failed there, or maybe something completely new will happen because of it. ^_^ The fun of a "fanfiction" such as this. :)
Reply(Glave): I'm fine if you think being chased by double armed lumbers with cloaking modules is fine. At least they aren't too fast, but I can't really let my guard down. I'll never know when there will be one hiding somewhere.
Displaying definition for Bombhead:
Bombhead masks are masks that resemble bombs. They originally were simple bomb cases that one would drill holes through and then they would put them on. In battle fields they were useful masks as they made enemies think that they were bombs that could go off at any second, scaring away foot soldiers. One drawback became evident when a mender attempted to defuse one of these "bombs". That soldier died shortly after. Nobody used bombheads since.
Many years later, when King Krogmo was organizing his first event of Blast Network. He was looking for something old-style, yet new to the eyes of spectators and combatants. He browsed through the history books and pictures of old battles. When he saw the bombhead mask he laughed at the idea. Upon sobering, he realized he laughed due to how unusual it was. He quickly set his Develites to work on designing the bombheads.
Eventually they came up with a system that uses blast powder, distinct for it's sparking burn, in a little pocket at the back of the mask. A vacuum system sucks up the blast powder and shoots it out of the fuse like tube, which lights it just as it leaves. With fine tuning, it eventually could give the illusion of the "fuse" burning, although the powder was burning. Care has also been taken to ensure the flame doesn't reach the pack of powder, as this is compressed, allowing for an explosion. Further upgrades has allowed it extreme efficiency, and it can last a year on one pack. Krogmo was pleased with the design, and began producing many as prizes for BN. There are few models that he mass produces, but there are many experimental versions he gives out when bribed.
Reply(Glave): This is really why I need that camera working. I'm sick of describing everything. They are more double armed lumbers with axes and such.
(Once again, where can I get the hidden passage tileset in Spiral Spy?)

"As my friend Xylka said once, "Once you've replied to a thread, you're committed to it until it's done, whether you want to think that or not." "
Lies, I've never said that, and I'd never use that kind of speaking either. Stop taking what I say out of context Kanoka :P
Anyways, Kanoka linked me here because you were looking for a "hidden tileset". I'd help you find it, as I know how to use SpiralSpy pretty well, but i need more details. By hidden passage tileset do you mean something from the Unknown Passage/Swarm tileset? I dont have time to read the entire thread, and I don't really understand what kind of thing you're looking for.
What I mean is, do you mean that the tileset is hidden in the directory, or hidden as in unknown, relating to the Swarm and Sanctuary kinds of things in SK?
Either way, I'll look for it.
Not sure If I should post as part of the fanfic, as I dont want to accidently do something stupid that ruins the story. Just here to help!
Ill post it after reading some more of the story.
Sorry, I mean unknown passage. The swarm one, to be exact. My fault. Thanks!
OOC: Ok then, I think I'll be able to find it. Will update this later since i gtg to school.
Reply:
Hmm...well, the fortunate thing is, like you said, that your cloaking device is able to keep them from locating you as well. It seems like the Swarm has a variety of different creatures down there...
I'm still trying to identify some connections here. We can assume that our dear Sprite friend is being called by the Spirit Mother. She most definitely would be able to help you, possibly even remove your infection fully. I guess the only difficulty is in finding Durod, who seems to run at a consistant pace. Which brings me to a thought...do you know if you've gone in a circle at all? Or did Kris just destroy all of the bombheads, and so now the Swarm is sending the "lumber squad"? Since we don't have any cameras to assist us yet, it might be good for you to establish a mental map of the place.
OOC: Also, I'll get a hold of Xylka...he most likely just got caught up with school stuffs and other things, so I'll remind him to check here this morning if he can...and this afternoon after school. ^_^
I have a special surprise in store. That's what has been delaying me. It should be ready soon.
EDIT: It's done! Though I need to upload it. While it does that...um...hang on...
OOC: Take as long as you need. Wasn't sure if the thread just hadn't picked up yet, or if you were working on something...now I know, so I can wait. ^_^
R: Try leaving traces, mostly when ye met something or anything ye see, leave a trace there. Ye'll recall that ye have been here and there before.
I hope the next updates will be faster. I was busy learning SS, so that delayed me.
Reply(Glave): Hmm, I see. You could be right on that. Oh, traces? You mean I should leave a trail? Well, I thought of that. But the issue with that would be I might be leaving a trail for them to come find me by. It would have to be something hard to notice, but I'm not sure what that would be...hmm...is that a gate? Er...let's see here...

It looks to have some sort of Swarm seal on it...I'm not sure if it can even be opened. Perhaps the Sun Shard could have some use on it?
OOC: Nice job on getting SpiralSpy figured out! This has just increase a level in fun...hehe
OOC: Ok so I actually didn't find any tileset for the swarm levels on their own, and based on my memory from last time, I actually don't think that there is a special tileset for the Unknown Passage. In fact I think its just a regular Clockworks tunnel one, or Deconstruction Zone one, with all the Swarm skybox, background, animations, effect, lighting etc that makes it look unique. In fact its probably all the Swarm Seeds that make it look like it has its own, when really it doesn't on its own.
Check a video of the Unknown passage on youtube or something for a reference, or something. the only unique tileset I found was the one for the Sanctuary, but that's different entirely. So yeah, no tileset for the Swarm itself, only a bunch of other stuff that makes it look like it is.
Hope that helps :/
I was just listening to the remixed soundtrack and then I remember this thread and I'm like 'Woah I better get back to work!' Lol, anyway, with school and all, I'm going to unable to update all that often. Sorry about that! Don't worry, I'll get one today. (And I'll edit this post for that.)
I can understand having school to prevent checking as frequently - the same applies to me as well, so just do your best to keep up! :)

Recon Cloak Mechanism:
A high tech system used by assassins, scouts, patrols, and spies. Was invented by Spirulian scientists, and quickly became a key research project due to it's versatility. However, a defector leaked the plans to Gremlin technicians, which later led to gremlins using similar technology on their own men. There are two adaption of the system: a light-bending field(LBF) and a screen-and-camera(S&C) suit.
The first of the two, the S&C suit, uses many LEDs or other small, lightweight sources of light to produce an image. The image is also created by several small cameras. A mesh of the LEDs and cameras is made and either tightly rapped around the user or actually placed directly on the armor. Using a computer system, it creates an image which can be 'seen through', although in reality the image is just being relayed. Due to being the earlier model which was leaked, it is the one used by Gremlins as of writing this. It may run for days at a time, relativity needing little power.
It has several drawbacks, though: every part of the wearer must be perfectly covered, or there will be spots that can be seen. In some cases, it also may fail to look realistic enough to fool most troops, and can easily be seen using an infrared device. The greatest issue with it is that it must stay free of dirt and tears, or it won't work well. Never the less, this kind of cloak is a valuable tool for long scouting missions.
The LBF technique uses a system not unlike the fields created by the shields used by spiral knights. Rather than blocking blows, however, it twists light around itself, causing the user to become invisible. It is very easy to use, due to the fact that a 'shield' (Cloak maintainer, to be correct.) and a light weight pack is all that needs to be given, rather than a tight mesh. Also, it has the advantage of warping all kinds of light around it, visible and invisible. It isn't without one major limitation, however: the system gets hot very fast and consumes large amounts of energy, so it cannot maintain long periods of invisibility.
A professional spy or assassin will generally use both techniques, using the S&C suit most the time and then switching to the LBF when the suit will not suffice. Having both is will increase chances of survival, but can become hard to maintain. Most amateur sneaksters use the LBF, because of its ease of use.

(OOC: "vers" could be Greavers, but more likely it's Quicksilvers, because those were mentioned before. Might be best to know if there's Rock Salt nearby for Glave to use against the Quicksilvers.
Moving each letter in that last weird message up two spaces in the alphabet gave "loss shocking the over greaves He". Backwards, "He greaves (it's spelled "grieves") over the shocking loss". But who is "he"? Is it Glave? Kris? The Core? I'll leave the others to decide what to do with that info for now.)
Command:

Command If there is and Greaver nests nearby
OOC: Good to see you, Doctorspacebar! Your presence is greatly appreciated - it certainly looks as if you know how to do this well.
The message might actually be another hint - it states that he "greaves" (I am not sure that Etern-Term would make an error with "greaves", so that might actually be literal or incorrectly spelled. Either way, we can certainly work with it) over the shocking loss. We know that Quicksilvers are shock-based jellies, so perhaps it is boost in that direction, as well as a clue to something else. I'm just not entirely sure what that direction is yet. :P
EDIT: Here's another thought - perhaps the electicity generated by whatever is in Glave's vicinity is causing the connection failure. If that's so, it'll be hard to reconnect, but we should continue to try and get a message to Glave somehow.

(OOC: If those are quicksilvers, we'd better pinpoint the Rock Salt. 2 kilometers, for those of us in the US who don't work with kilometers as much, is 1.24274 miles, so it's a trek, but if Glave is being attacked by Quicksilvers, he might want to get a circle going. And just in case Kris shows up again, we'll want to figure out a way to break his shield that's not "shoot it until it breaks".)
Command:
Attempt to re-establish connection with Glave. Once the connection is re-established, send Glave this message: "Can you confirm if you are or are not being attacked by Quicksilvers? Answer with yes or no first, there's a lot of static and we need as exact confirmation as possible."
Provide the exact cardinal direction of the Rock Salt deposit relative to User: Glave.
Define "Guardian Shield" and list any permanent method of destroying it. Then list the easiest overall method of breaking it that is available to Users: Glave and EternTerm.
EDIT: (Here's some more commands. There might be something guarding the Rock Salt. Plus, it's probably good to know what a Franken-Droul is, since it was mentioned.)
List any obstacles impeding entry to the Rock Salt deposit.
List any entities hostile to User: Glave in the vicinity of the Rock Salt deposit.
Define "Franken-Droul" and list any known weaknesses of "Franken-Droul".

Log off administrator blocking the process. If unsuccessful, attempt to identify first object infected by the swarm.
...but I'm going to point out that any real-world systems NEVER, EVER let's a regular user log off a super user.
Command:
Identify GHOSTUSER as stated in PSJ.log. Also, attempt to find other methods of communicating with User:Glave that do not entail the use of the com system.
Do not attempt to log off administrator. Instead, attempt identification of first object infected by the swarm on cradle.

Displaying definition for guardian shield:
These shields are considered to be some of the strongest things made, engineered to take many a blow and not shatter. It is also heavier then most shields, needing a user with stronger arms than most most others. The shield can produce a special field which takes damage for the targets in it, as well as heal the affected targets. The shield needs to be configured to target the proper beings, or else it will end up defending enemies also.
In general, these shields aren't very strong themselves but the field they make take the blows is. One shield, however, is made from layers of a very hard alloys and very soft alloys. This isn't done in most shields because it becomes extremely heavy, as well as extremely expensive to create. When a particularly hard alloy was first forged, the smith couldn't move it, let alone pick it up. He had no ability to cut it with traditional means as well, but he could easily smash it and then melt the pieces. After some thought, he layered it with other materials and made a shield.
After some considerable strain and much help, he finally propped the work up near his doorway, and said that anyone who could pick it up with one hand could keep it. The next day the shield had vanished. Some speculate that one of the beta squad took it because the squad left that night. Others think that it was taken by some holy being who thought it was too great a burden for any knight to carry. Whatever the cause, the smith has never made another, nor was the original ever seen again.
No detected life forms near rocksalt.
Franken-Droul is a cross creation. It is a zombie with shock as well as poison attributes.
(No real definition yet! I hope this works.)
GHOSTUSER is any special, remote user which has been specified by a superuser. A GHOSTUSER may have any permissions, depending on what is given by a superuser. This user cannot be traced, nor can any other information can be found out of by a normal user aside from being on at a current time.
Cannot detect the original swarm host.

Command?
All right, we'd better tell Glave to check to the south. Or, better yet, give him an exact map to it! (EternTerm, you don't have to draw the map, since only Glave needs to know where the salt is. Also, we'd better make sure Kris isn't somewhere in the way... and thinking long-term, I'm going to have the terminal look up escape routes and look up a way to keep BaneRock from draining Glave's energy.)
Produce an exact map leading from User: Glave's current position to the Rock Salt deposit and put it on User: Glave's comlink. If successful, add this to the auto-message: "If it is Quicksilvers, we've located some Rock Salt. You can follow your map to it, it's about two kilometers south of you."
If the mapmaking command is unsuccessful, add this to the auto-message: "If it is Quicksilvers, we've found out there's Rock Salt about two kilometers to the south. Head there if you can."

The weirdest thing is how they all seem to ignore him, and then they always seem to go after me. Anyway, cloaking is nice. Oh hey! There's a camera right there. Hmm, looks like it's off.
