Spiral Knights

I realize that this is a subject that has been talked about in the past and the idea of Playable Gremlins is Unoriginal, However it has not been spoken of recently and I will try to put in more detail than my predecessors.

I have Two Potential ideas at this time.

(1).Playable gremlins will be enemies of the Spiral Knights an will try to get to each Elevator to go up in an attempt to Get to Haven. The Gremlins would start near the core at some sort of Gremlin Base that would include merchants and their own Auction House and they would go up throughout the clockworks until they reach their destination. Instead of monsters the gremlins would fight NPC Knights who would wear specialized gear and use specialized weapons that would be equivalent to what type of monster they would be replacing along with maybe Emberlight Gremlins to replace regular Gremlins. Gremlins would all go through mostly the same boss locations as the Knights except all the locations would be occupied by knights and some sort of boss.Eventually they'd make it to rescue camp and eliminate all the knights there Explaining why you'd never be able to come back. afterwards they'd head though the area of clockworks you have to go to to reach haven.Once their, they would Be stopped at the entrance by barricades and heavily armed and armored knights and maybe actual players firing on them.

(2) This Idea is that the Playable Gremlins could be from Emberlight and therefore be allied with the Knights and but have their own missions like a rebellion against the Crimson Order and King Tinkinzar. they would start at emberlight and work their way down until they reached the great colony and overthrew the king. EDIT: i think that rebel gremlins should use similar but not exact gear compared to that of Colony gremlin gear the story line for them could start by contacting the spiral knights to inform them of their intentions and ask for support.

Ideas on Gear

I think Gremlins should have their own Weapons and armor so that they don't share the same stuff as knights making it all more fresh so that players could have more fun and see more of a difference when playing as a gremlin. they could also have it so they have more powerful weapons and better armor than knights except have it so their gear can't do special damage or have protection from special damage like piercing or elemental. to compensate they would maybe have a larger party size.

well i just thought of some

well i just thought of some new ideas for it, the Gremlins could have the ability to craft Mechaknights and they could maybe be able to make other constructs as well but each creation would cost energy which would make this more profitable for OOO since it would cause CE Sales to go up.

this could be profitable in the other idea that OOO would eventually make DLC for Player Gremlins which ppl would buy which would further improve it's worth to make this part of the game.

Yeah i read it.

Yeah i did read it, some of these ideas were based on his ideas some were based on another thread but a lot of these ideas i made up on my own, i am trying to think of some other ideas to further improve this since i am trying to make this idea work since i think it would be a really cool addition to SK

Another idea i came up with

Another idea i came up with is that weapons would be for that of type of enemy gremlins seen currently for example you could get Scorcher flamethrowers or thwack hammers and maybe even Healing Wrench wand type weapons.

One idea i have is that Player Gremlins Will Be able to come across Player Knights during missions and vice versa, each group would need to try to eliminate the other group and once one of the groups entire party is incapacitated they are moved to a different room server and they continue their mission without hindrance.

Past threads which have better content, more intelligence put into them, and address issues relevant to the concept were shot down. If the better thread was defeated, why would making something worse succeed?

I have put more content into this thread than the one mentioned and i have put quite a bit of my intelligence into it this is also something that WOULD actually bring profit to OOO unlike the thread mentioned by you. i will not give up on this idea and i will revise my original idea mentioned if necessary to allow this to come into effect.

Tohru i am aware that his was more thought out than mine as i was a supporter of his work on this subject, i have only been working on this for a couple of days i will try to improve my ideas whenever i can infact i am going to start working on the ideas for emberlite gremlins right now.

Gremlin lovers are a minority.

Why would OOO waste their time, resources and money cater for a small group of players?

What is the point of getting this? Do they have unique abilites(NO HEALLING, even the Devs said no healing items outside cw items)? This game is focused about the knights and excaping the planet, not playing as Gremlins killing knights.

I mean, this is supposed to be a DLC(*COUGH*Expansion*COUGH*), yet acts as if this is Spiral Gremlins through out.

Garlic's, Lookos' and others are basically the same. All want playable gremlins. All want either Emberlight or Grand Colony.

How would the rescue camp massacre fit? I mean, lets see, the knights are doing fine in the camp as there are turrets to protect them from the threats. There are also the elevators used for a connection to Haven, so knights can invade battle them.

What are these special gear? Aren't they basically renamed/skinned/same animattion Knight items?

How are you able to switch to knight and grem? Aren't these missions the same as knights, but going up? So wait, if there were noob knights meeting higher tier grems(Since grems go up), and the grems massacre them, then get these repeatedly, wouldn't that be annoing, as they want to play the game, but get killed by these player gremlins. This would create some MAJOR griefing.

The Construction crafting=CE SINKS. We have enoguh of these.

Comparing it to Garlic's(The best), if something like that got shot down, then yours would be the same.

Hmm your right i am scrappig that idea
as for missions no they will occasionally involve the same locations but they will be overall different and PvP would probably get their own system

the rescue camp massacre would work as existing players would not be there and for new players it would happen ahead in time of when they arrived so it would make sense, and it would be a mission.

The Attacks done when you create a character, are done by,

constructs.

No grems.

Wiat, there's more!

When has any gremlin come up to the surface to kill them?

Looking at Project R, you can see what I'm getting at.

On Gear:

Gear will be new and for gremlins only since it won't really fit on knights so Gremlins and Knights will have their own separate gear gremlins and knights might be able to share weapons and shields however

Gremlins would go up to attack knights since knights have been killing gremlins and destroying their work and all i mean your making it sound like in logic they would go like "huh a bunch of offworlders are going into or deconstruction zones destroying our constructs and killing our people so i am gonna sit and only do something if i actually see one" that wouldn't happen an attack on their enemy would stop such things from happening so they could continue on what they did before contact with the knights.

Bfore tyou use the alien invaders arguement:

We were attacked first. We made base and their constructs assualt us. We try and find a energy source, we are assulted.

So yeah, we got stranded, and the natives ae trying ot kill you.

Also, If you can't comeback, explain the influx of newbs coming into haven, if all of them are "Massacred".

Even if this gets support, the devs themselves would have to agree to implement this.

After reading all grem ideas, I realise something.

This isn't a simple patch.

This isn't a buyable Expansion.

This is basically a Spin-off game from spiral knights. Exculsive set of gear, new PvP for them, a new storyline, a new way to get to haven, new lvs, new bosses , ALL EXCLUSIVLY FOR "PLAYABLE GREMLINS".

my ideas aren't perfect but if accepted the developers would change improve or revise what i have here

All this new stuff just to have a playable faction in a game based on a species attemps on escaping a abomintation of a planet?

This is more like a spin-off game. No matter how you put it. Gremlins otherthrowing the king, while the knights are fighing against the unerving hoards of gremlins? Gremlins killing several newbs and making th camp unvisitable despite the influx of newbs to haven?

If you want Playable grems to a certain extent, just ask OOO to create realistic grem costumes.

Also, this "Spin-off"(I'm coining the term for this), goes against the lore put down here. The game isn't going to bend ythe storyline to make your Spin-off fit.

Anyway. If you want to play as a Gremlin, this is how you do it.

Go into the game files and switch the contents in the graphical folders of the Knights and Gremlins. This should roughly cause all knights to look like gremlins, and all gremlins to look like knights.

Now turn your computer upside down, so when you go down an elevator, it will actually look like it is going up instead of down.

This will also cause everything else to be upside down, but that is the cost of satisfying your furry needs.

I don't know why I make a new paragraph after practically every sentence.

I should learn some grammar.

That's the problem.

In order to add your idea, they need to change plot lines already set in stone?

If tink is otherthrown, then the normal grems have lost a leader. What would happen since the rebels are ruling? If the Rescue camp is destroyed, why would the devs have to mod it again? How will the survivours reach to haven if it's destroyed? How would it fit with the whole razwog Story? What happen if that story is continues hownormal knight who went there in the "ruins" know about him?

Not every mob is on their side. How would there be knights replacing the majority of Wolvers in Wolver dens? Or if they got to FSC? Or LoA? In RT, the knights allways stop it. If you fought them there and won, then Project R will win.

Another problem is, if they decide to use their recsources, this will only cater to a small minortity of players(all those resources cost money, and not everyone wants to play as gremlins), to create this Spin-off, then why not make a devilite one?

I mean, they work with them.

And why not constructs? They do the brunt of the clockworking work?

If one mob becomes playable, what about mobs with equal story importance and the rest of the Players?

Vana, Almire and Undead are important on endgame. Constructs are a factor in several missions.
